Some very interesting ideas in this anthology of weird tales. A professional editor would probably have helped a good deal. Very quick read.

I expected this to be horror, and thus scary in some way or other. Yet, it's the complete opposite, almost comical at points. The different stories are all interesting ideas but could do with being expanded - I felt they were over before they had a chance to properly begin. The language isn't bad, I found no errors in this book, but the formatting his strange, and the paragraphing confused me.

Masoom Thrillers #1 features five short stories but not all of them are equally enjoyable. Henna, the first tale, is written well but its ending seemed abrupt. Witness Protection is quite superior to the afore-mentioned yarn. The main figure Val Slater is superbly depicted and the plot is fantastic, with a totally unpredictable conclusion.

The third entry, Ghosts of Iraq might've come across better as a screenplay, as the style in which it's told is more like watching a movie than reading a piece of literature.

Valentines Night is the fourth part, and though it features intriguing major characters as well as entertaining dialogues, I found the central narrative to be foreseeable.

Red Carpet is the last but certainly not the least. It is the best part of this collection. And I hope that the author does come up with a sequel, or prolongs the word count to novella length at least. It's one of the most horrific short stories that I've read in a long time.

Overall, Masoom Thrillers #1 is a must-read compilation for thriller and horror enthusiasts alike. Each yarn is not similar in terms of quality but they are all unputdownable reads. Nonetheless, if you're not fond of the thriller or horror genre, then this might not be your cup of tea.

Though it was a short book, I could not stop reading it, and completed the book in one go. The writing was quite distinct to other similarly-themed short stories I've previously read.

The tales also had their unique twists which I could not have guessed. The writer manages to keep you guessing and the terror from the stories stay with you, even long after you've completed the entire collection.

In my opinion, it's not easy to pick a favorite among the five stories, but Red Carpet is definitely a stand-out.

If I could compare this work to another short-story anthology in the same genre it would be Volume One of Clive Barker's Books of Blood.

To end with, I recommend mostly dark-horror fans to read this enthralling collection.

I recommend the writer to prolong the length of this e-book. At 50 pages, it was a page-turner but some stories needed more justification despite having overall fine plots. I'm certain with more practice that Mr. Masoom can improve his storytelling capabilities.

Overall, this is an entertaining, quick read. The stories are of just the right length and do a good job grabbing my interest and keeping me engaged with the narrative. For the most part, there is a decent variety of characters and plots here. Masoom has a comfortable and effective writing style, although I think this could have benefited from another proof-reading pass. If I had any constructive comments it would be that all of the stories seem to employ a similar type device or twist at the end and I would have liked to have seen that changed up a little. Also, there were a few moments of kind of awkward exposition in which the natural pace of the story was halted to explain things to the reader. Still, I enjoyed this book.

In particular, Witness Protection took a solid premise, managed to effectively develop the mystery of the plot despite the short length and nailed my favorite ending of the collection. Red Carpet had some great, brutal moments throughout. Valentine's Night was one that I thought had potential but needed to be much longer. In its current form there were just too many characters for me too keep track of.

In sum, a good read that I would suggest checking out.

This short story collection is a heady mix of the supernatural, suspense, romance, The Arabian Nights, and even some tongue in cheek humor. All of the stories are gripping, though they each end a tad too abruptly, as if to jar the reader into appreciating the jolt of surprise. Still, a unique and original read!

I received this free E book from goodreads kindle group. The book is collection of five short stories each having its own twist, mystery and dark horror. A small book with 116 pages can be read in one sitting.

The five stories are:
Henna
Witness protection
Ghosts of Iraq
Valentines Night
Red Carpet

Out of these I very much liked Witness protection. Unlike other stories from beginning to end the story has twist and the end is unpredictable. This story has good character development.

After Witness Protection I liked Red Carpet story and Ghosts of Iraq has potential to be written as a novel.
