'Sell the Pig' is the first in a series of travel memoirs describing how Lesley, writing as Tottie Limejuice, decided to make the move from the UK to France to start a new life, taking with her an 89-year-old mother suffering from vascular dementia. The story continues in three further books, 'Is That Billinge Lump?' 'Mother, Was It Worth It?' 'Biff the Useless Mention', and 'Angling Bumateurs'. There's an additional standalone prequel to the series, Trot On!, about her time running a holiday riding centre in Wales, before her move to France.
Lesley is also the not-so-secret writer behind the pen-name of Carl Granger. The book Looking for Lulu is darker crime fiction.
Lesley is a former journalist, working as both a criminal court and coroner's court reporter. She also worked as a case tracker for the Crown Prosecution Service, and for a firm investigating irregularities in offshore finance. Her other jobs have included owning and running a holiday riding centre and acting as a 'charity mugger', lying in wait to sign up shoppers for a wildlife charity.
Lesley's interests centre around nature and wildlife and encompass dogs, wild camping and organic gardening. She lives in the Auvergne region of Central France and holds dual French/British nationality. Her current dogs are two rescued border collies

I didn't find this one as good as the previous two Ted Darling books I've read. Hard to put a finger on just why but it felt weaker overall than the others. It won't stop me reading the next one though I think I consider them "holiday reading" rather than anything else.

I couldn't wait to read this book because after reading the first two in the series, I'm now a huge fan of DI Ted Darling and his partner Trev. It certainly didn't disappoint. I think this one is my favourite book of the series. There are so many twists and turns that I ended up suspecting about five different people of the murders.
Any of the books in the DI Ted Darling series could be read as a stand alone, so if you see this book, or any of the others in the series on offer, then grab it quick but I can guarantee that you'll be hooked and will then need to read the whole series, because in each book, as the story unfolds, we learn more and more about the two central characters, DI Ted Darling and his partner Trev. Different layers of their individual backgrounds are revealed and in this book we meet two important characters from both of their pasts. Also we are introduced to the new and intriguing character of the female officer DC Vine.
L M Krier is a gifted storyteller, who reveals the plot in such a way that holds the attention of the reader right through to the end. I couldn't put the book down. Wanted to savour it but found myself racing through to the final denouement. Now I can't wait for the next one!

Love DI Ted Darling, along with his partner, Trevor. After reading this third book in the series, I have come to think of them as old friends. They really do come alive. It takes a good writer to make that happen, and L.M. Krier is excellent at breathing life into her characters. The plot unfolds at a good clip, and the mystery is challenging enough to keep you guessing. Each book can stand alone, but I enjoy reading a series like this in the order they were written. Nuances develop, characters are revealed more in depth, and each book improves over the previous one. Easy to read, but challenging enough for any crime/mystery book lover. I was impressed with the extensive research the author must have done for this book, on the topic of poisonous plants. She comes up with fresh ideas for each new book.

Another catch up review. Damn I really wanted to do this book justice because it really is great series so far (three books in) but it was just too long ago. By now, the characters fit like an old glove. DI Ted Darling and his partner Trev feel like old friends.
Someone is callously killing old folk in nursing homes and Ted isn't having it. Unfortunately during the investigation some things from the past come out and Ted and Trev's relationship becomes quite strained. I'm sure they'll sort it out and I'll have to dive into book 4 pretty soon.

Love Ted. Love Trev. Love Bizzie. Well written and very well researched books that are a joy to read. A team that looks out for each other (believe it or not teams do that) with a boss that isn't, for once, dysfunctional. He actually has a life, yes sometimes interrupted outside work and goes to weddings, eats dinner and has a loving relationship. Immensely refreshing after all the Xanax popping, alcohol consuming, existing on a mouthful of Mars bar police detectives in other books. The stories are well constructed and there is attention to detail. First rate

When I'm Old and Grey is the third book in the DI Ted Darling series and like all of L.M.Kier's work I really enjoyed it.
The story starts off where DI Ted has some tragic news that his Grandma has passed away, but it appears that she hasn't died of natural causes. While a serial killer appears to be targeting vulnerable elderly people in care homes and despatching them in the most cynical way. Ted and his team are struggling to get a lead on who the killer really is. Could this be linked is the question? we are introduced to a new team member who is adding to Ted's problems, rather than helping him to solve them. when things couldn't get any worse Ted receives some devastating news about his partner Trevor.
This story starts with a bang and LM Krier has you gripped from the start and this is most definitely a page turner I read this in two sittings. I have to say this is a very unique story I can not recall reading a story line like this before. Has always this is a easy read with some twists and turns.
We get to learn more about the characters as they grow throughout the series. LM Krier clearly shows realistic and likeable characters throughout her writing. For me this story gives more insight to Ted's feeling towards Trevor compared to the previous two stories. Being a fan of Ted is great to see the characters grow from strength to strength. And I cannot wait to read Ted's next case.

What a super read. This series of books featuring D.I. Ted Darling just gets better and better. With each one we learn a little more about the characters and what makes them tick. This time we discover some hidden secrets about both Ted and Trev’s families which come as a complete surprise and I’m looking forward to more developments in the future. The author has the knack of making the reader care about them both and that takes a lot of skill. The plot is fast paced and gripping from the start. I could hardly put it down and read it over two sittings. As well as trying to catch a killer who is dispatching elderly people who are in care homes D.I Darling has to cope with an insubordinate and difficult addition to his team. I’m also impressed at the research the author must have put in to learn about poisonous plants and their effects. A worthy 5 stars.

A return to 5*
Book 1 was a resounding 5*, book 2 a 4*, purely due to the fact that book 1 was a very hard act to follow. Book 3 was a slow burner but defiantly worthy of a5* rating.
As always the author takes on sensitive and often disturbing subject matter and does so with style. A serial killer who poisons OAPs proves to be a difficult case for the team, added to which they have the new team member who brings with her a multitude of complications. Ted and his partner have some troubling shocks of their own to deal with that takes Teds norm coo! capabilities in dealing with his team and personal life to the limit.
I have become a huge fan of this author and this series and look forward to book 4 with anticipation x

Ted has a new person on his team who has issues, he meets his mother after decades and learns that things are not what he believed them to be, Trev has a health scare and in between he has to find the person who was killing old people.
Certainly better than first book but not as fast paced as the second.

This is the third book om the Ted Darling series and I really hope more will follow. So many likeable characters that have grown as the series has gone on and the storyline in this book is one you can imagine reading about in the tabloids

As usual a very good read. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in the series and am now reading book 4. I recommend this series for anyone who enjoys a well written cosy style mystery.

Enjoyable!
Making my way through this series, I can definitely feel the author is finding her stride and I am enjoying each book more.
This book follows Ted Darling and his team while they investigate a spate of seemingly random murders of elderly people in care homes.
Ted is challenged even more with the arrival of a new, rather abrasive member on to his team and worries at home about the health of his long time partner Trev.
I am loving following Ted's personal story as much as I am enioying each individual story.

This is the fourth in the series and they get better and better with each new story. After reading the second I was supposed to read two other books that had been picked for our book club but I just couldn't stop reading about Ted Darling. No regrets for missing the book club and I am on to the rest of the series.

Another very good book in what is fast becoming a favourite series. Three stars simply because I felt there was perhaps too much effort in trying to get you to love the main character. Don't need quite so much of that, as I already do and the story would have worked just as well with a touch less. Have seen a few people suggest this is one of the weaker in the series series so still very much looking forward to reading the rest.

I have read all three books in the series, and can honestly say that I have never known characters come out of a book like this before.The more I read, the more I get to know and love them. Even after I finish a book I find myself wondering about the main characters and what's coming next. Each story is unique, but I am always left wanting more. Fortunately the author writes fast!
