About the author
Janice Kay Johnson
289 books191 followersJanice Kay Johnson is the author of over a hundred books for children and adults. Her first four published romance novels were coauthored with her mother, also a writer who has since published mysteries and children's books on her own. These were "sweet" romance novels, the author hastens to add; she isn't sure they'd have felt comfortable coauthoring passionate love scenes!
Janice graduated from Whitman College with a B.A. in history and then received a master's degree in library science from the University of Washington. She was a branch librarian for a public library system until she began selling her own writing.
She has written six novels for young adults and one picture book for the read-aloud crowd. Rosamund was the outgrowth of all those hours spent reading to her own daughters, and of her passion for growing old roses. Two more of her favorite books were historical novels she wrote for Tor/Forge. The research was pure indulgence for someone who set out intending to be a historian!
Janice is divorced and has raised her two daughters in a small, rural town north of Seattle, Washington. She's an active volunteer and board member for Purrfect Pals, a no-kill cat shelter, and foster kittens often enliven a household that already includes a few more cats than she wants to admit to!
Janice loves writing books about both love and family — about the way generations connect and the power our earliest experiences have on us throughout life. Her Superromance novels are frequent finalists for Romance Writers of America RITA® awards. Along with her books for Harlequin, Janice has written the Cape Trouble series of romantic suspense novels, and is about to launch a new series, Desperation Creek, set in rural eastern Oregon.

2.5 Stars rounded up...
This one didn't work for me for a few reasons. I don't like boss\subordinate romances which means the romance wasn't a favorite and it felt like another quick to love and marriage. The ending confrontation seem to require an omniscient psycho in an invisibility cloak and the always used TSTL move by the h. Plus a few other irritants...

Another good book
I have enjoyed all of the Cape Fear books. I would like to know more about Mackay. Maybe he'll be next.

4.5 Rounded up.
A favorite author and series. I love suspense romance and she's one of the best. Normally she writes for Harlequin, but she's doing a self published series and I'm shouting to the roof tops about how much I love it bc I want this series to continue. Well drawn characters, well thought out suspense, no tstl characters and great sex scenes without being too much. They add to the story, they're not the story. Rare these days. Anywho, trying to get the word out so she'll write Sheriff McKays story next. Need people to read, otherwise why write? This is on KU, so if you like suspense romance, check it out.

I guess I had too high hopes that she wouldn't be the typical weeping heroine. Again, the Killer is really easy to figure out.
I still hate the names of the towns "Cape Trouble" and "North Fork". Having a town named Trouble where lots of trouble happens is a little too cliche. It just doesn't seem to fit either. North Fork automatically makes me think of Norfolk and that's what I always end up calling it in my head.

Love this series
Overall the series just keeps getting better and better. This one totally sucked me in with a strong climax. Can't wait for the next one.

Unlike some of the other Cape Trouble novels, you kinda sorta know who the bad guy is all along. Still, JKJ manages to keep the suspense up throughout as you wait to see how they are going to catch him. This is hands down one of my favorite Romantic Suspense series and this latest addition does not disappoint. Great suspenseful police procedural with a fantastic romance seamlessly woven in. Although there are a few characters in this that have their own books, this can completely be read as a stand alone. But don't just read this one, they are all soooooo good, read them all.
