Holiday break is over, and the girls are finally back at the Paranormal Institute for Witches. Campus is now blanketed with a thick layer of snow, thanks to the Christmas Eve storm that covered the tiny town of Aspen Falls, Pennsylvania.
Unfortunately, the first day back isn’t starting off so well. First, a new girl picks a fight with Alba in the cafeteria and then she sets her sights on Houston Brooks. But when one of the girls’ beloved school employees is found dead, things really take a turn for the worse.
It’s not until the dearly departed’s ghost fingers the murderer that it seems like it’s an open and shut case. But is it really? Mercy’s not so sure. Convincing Alba and the rest of the girls to help her figure out the truth may not only land them in hot water with Sorceress Stone once again, but it may also put their lives in danger.
Rejoin your old friends, Mercy, Jax, Sweets, Holly, and Alba for a wild ride that ends with a wedding and a surprise guest!

I'm still enjoying this series. I liked the introduction of Tori who threw a spanner into the mix. The turmoil added to the story, but what I want to know is why a new student was so strong in the first place. Plus wouldn't sorceress Stone know what her powers were? Grammy seems fun and I wonder if she'll bring fun or distress to the stories?

Mercy and her friends are hardly back at school before there's another murder. This time it's the cafeteria lady Denise. Even though her ghost reveals who did, Mercy and the girls have their doubts. Now they must solve this murder before a wedding takes place, and the conclusion is a wild one. A really fun read.
I was glad to read another in the Witch Squad Cozy Mystery series. This time there is a murder on campus and it is the lunch lady Denise. The squad all likes Denise and are upset by her murder. They are determined to find out who did this to Denise, and set about investigating almost as soon as the police were done questioning them! To add to solving a murder, the girls must also deal with a new witch in school, Tori, who behaves horribly towards the Witch Squad and even tries to steal Houston from Mercy. She picks a fight with Alba, causes Mercy to fall on her face in high heels, and does other things that make her very unpopular. As frequently happens, the Witch Squad gets caught being off campus by Sorceress Stone. The encourage Jax to lie to her mother and disobey her as well. Meanwhile Sweets has started her internship at the Bakery, and is given the delightful job of making the wedding cake. Although her co-worker apparently hates her and does everything he can to discourage her, Sweets finds a way to prevail. There are lots of ups and downs as the squad tries to solve the murder, keep off of Sorceress Stone's radar, help Denise's children, and prepare for Char and Mr. Bailey's wedding. So much to go wrong! And so many ways to prove their abilities! It is a book that will keep you engaged and reading quickly to find out how everything works out. This is a series that needs to be read in order, otherwise the reader will be quite muddled!
Oh wow, I loved this book. I think this book is my favourite of the witch squad so far. It was slightly different from the other books in the fact that Sweets also told some of the story from her perspective and it wasn't just Mercy's telling, Which worked really well because the author uses such a distinct voice for each character that if you missed the name at the start of the chapter you could still very easily tell who it was. I love the characters (who are all so much fun and with unique qualities and powers) but it was the mystery that captured me in this book and the way the girls worked it out while trying not to get grounded. I can't wait for the next book to come out on audible because the whole collection has to be a must for any audio book fan. I am off to start the authors other series The coffee coven's cozy capers while I wait for next book in this series to come out. The girls are back from there Christmas break and it is not a good start. The new girl picks a fight with Alba and she doesn't fight fair which puts the rest of witch squads backs up. Then she makes a move on Houston, Mercy's boyfriend right in front of her. Is she looking for a fight? Then it gets even worse and the girls favourite cafeteria lady is killed and her ghost knows who killed her and Holly gets a vision of the same person the ghost accused leaning over the body but it all seems to be to easy and to neat. With that in mind the girls start asking questions, especially as Alba is trying all her new skills of minding reading and she didn't get any guilty vibes from the suspect. Are the girls right and the police about to arrest the wrong person? And what is wrong with the new girl every where the girls turn she is there causing problems and making it hard to investigate. How can they ask questions when they have to sneak in and out of the college or face being grounded or worse locked in the tower by sorceress Stone. And to top it all of Sweets has started her internship at the bakery and her first assignment is to bake a wedding cake for her mentor. Will she have time to help solve the murder or will the hassles of baking get the better of her? As I said the narrator uses very different voices for ALL the characters and every time I her narrating I am surprised one person can change her voice in so many ways. I hope she is the narrator for the next book because I don't think anybody else would be able to compete or do the characters justices.
The story starts off strong when a new girl actually physically attacks Alba. She might be after Hugh, Mercy's boyfriend, and could even be involved in a murder.
On the brighter side Sweets is starting her internship at the bakery. Unfortunately, though, a guy that works there takes an instant dislike to her and causes her considerable trouble.
Then there's a murder at the school. A nice woman that everyone seemed to like ends up dead and it's up to the witch squad to try to find the killer. The major clue they get, though, has its own problems which seem to increase. There's the normal problems the squad has in any investigation, especially since they tend to break the school rules by going off-campus when told not to.
As usual, justice is served in the end but this times it's justice towards two people. Another enjoyable book in the series.
The girls are back after Christmas break to start their second semester, the first morning of classes the girls find the cafeteria packed with people waiting on breakfast. Wondering what's happening they go to the front of the line to see that Denise their lunch lady is missing and have a run in with the new girl who is full of attitude. Tori the new girl gets into an altercation with Alba and Mercy, deciding that's she's not worth the problems they go to Sorceress Stones office to find Brittany. Brittany is beside herself for being late hurries to the cafeteria to find the back doors locked upon opening them they find the body of Denise. The girls have to get on another case to ensure the wrong person doesn't go down for the murder.
Yet another fabulous book in this series!! They do seriously get better and better! M Z Andrews is an extremely talented writer, I have said it before and I will say it again and again. I said the last one was my favourite but I think this one pips it at the post!! It has a different spin on it by incorporating Sweets perspective in it, which worked really well. It kept me gripped and wanting more. Loved it!! This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this voluntary review.
Unfortunately after speaking to M Z Andrews the other books in the series are not yet out on Audiobooks. This is something she is hoping to do soon!! Hurry up!! I want more!!!
I really enjoy Mercy and her gang of witches as they go through normal college life and solves murders togetner. They are a unique blend of different backgrounds and are loyal to a fault. Some of the antics were a bit childish at times, however, it doesn't detract from the story. I was a bit bothered by Mercy and her attitude of just having fun with Hugh, that's a cavalier way of treating someone and the way they ended up is left with us hanging on for the next book.
I really have been enjoying this series! Although I must say I was a bit confused by the change of point of view in this book. One minute Mercy is telling the story, and out of the blue it changes to Sweets narrating. Which isn't a bad thing, but it really threw me out of my reading groove. I lost sight of the story trying to figure out who was telling the tale. Maybe a different font or something to tell who is up? Anyway I highly recommend! I can't wait to start the next one!
It's a new semester at the Institute and is begins with a murder. Denise the friendly lunch lazy is dead. A new student has it out for the witch squad and the girls just want to find the murderer. From sneaking out, magic fights and a wedding the girls are up to there necks in trouble. Very well written and I'm looking forward top the next one
This book was a little off for me. It kept switching between Mercy and Sweets point of view so it kept taking me a few lines before I realized it switched. Overall I’m not a fan of characters like Tori in the book. I was tempted to skip this and move on to the next book but I couldn’t leave part of the story missing.
I enjoyed this book as much as the previous books. I felt some things should have been diferent as in choices the group made but still a easy enjoyable read.
I only wish there was a few more pages to take care of the bakery assistants attitude but maybe next book.
Mercy and the Witch Squad are at it again when there's a murder on school grounds. Not only that but a new witch enters the picture that creates problems for everyone!
For whatever reason this story has a lot of typos....It needs redone, then rereleased as it has more than the entire rest of the series. Good story, lots of plot twists.
I really didn’t love this book, the overall plot was boring to me however, there is a lot of plot development and character growth, which is worth the read. It’s just not one of my favorites in the series.
It was weird to head jump into Sweet's head every so often. I wish they'd make it a little more obvious when it happened. Like putting her name under the cat instead of over. Other than that another good read.
Solves a murder, that is. And gets in trouble again too. This series is easy reading and entertaining. But the girls aren’t fighting like they used too, so some growing up going on.
Not bad, it is nice that these books are ones that keep on going. The wedding was a beautiful one. Let us know that love will find us all at the right time. That things will be solved and that those that Lie will be found out.
The Witch Squad rides again. For some reason, Mercy's frustration in this one leaked over to me, and I found myself irritated with the situation. I suppose it speaks to good writing but maybe a little too much frustration in this one.
Another series I really enjoy. A group of young witches and wizards attending their academy to hone their skills. Great storylines. You know, the usual. Having adventures, falling in and out of love, meeting interesting people, solving crimes, getting themselves in and out of trouble. You should enjoy it. Well worth the read.
