Mixed Up

Dirty cocktails, deadly enemies with a red-hot attraction, and one big, crazy, Greek family--what could possibly go wrong? Hiring my brother’s best friend was not on my to-do list. Neither was he. Expanding my dirty cocktail bar into food was supposed to be easy, except finding a chef in my little town of Whiskey Key is anything but. Until Parker Hamilton comes home—bringing his Michelin starred chef’s hat with him. He has no work. I need someone like him in my new kitchen. There’s just one I hate his cocky, filthy-mouthed, sexy-as-hell guts. Even if I might want him. Just a little… Working for my best friend’s sister? Not on my to-do list. She’s another story. Whiskey Key was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, except I haven’t reached the heights I have by lying in a hammock drinking cocktails. So when Raven Archer is desperate for a chef, I offer up my skills. I’m bored. She needs what I can give her. Except there’s a I’ve always hated her. Her and her big, blue eyes, sassy mouth, and killer curves. If only I didn’t want her.

➦This is a pretty enjoyable enemies to lovers romance with a whole bunch of entertaining banter and funny moments.

➦The heroine is an owner of a lounge which she decides to also turn into a restaurant. The only problem she can't seem to find a competent chef to run the kitchen. Long story short, she has no choice but to employ her brother's best friend, who also happens to be her arch nemesis.

➦I enjoyed the drink/food aspect of the story, it was interesting. The heroine comes up with really naughty cocktail names such as "Pussy Pounder" and "Blue Balls."

➦There was a very fitting typo in the ARC that I've read (I know I'm not supposed to reference typos but this one was just funny). It said something like "the door clattered against the wall, slamming slut after me." And I just thought that a "Slamming Slut" would be a rad name for a cocktail. No? Well, whatever.

➦I have to say that I didn't really find this book to be very funny, sure, there were some moments. For the most part, however, I just thought there was too much banter. The hero's character was a bit under developed for my taste. Everything seemed to be revolving around the heroine and her crazy family.

➦The fact that almost every scene was inside the same building made me feel a bit claustrophobic lol I would have preferred more variety... And these two kept fighting and fighting relentlessly and I just needed some tender moments too, I guess. By the end I didn't really feel invested in this fictional relationship and ended up speed reading the last 20%.

➦Even though I wasn't feeling it, you might! If you like enemies to lovers romcoms and "brother's best friend" tropes then this book might suit you just fine!

Emma Hart has readers drunk in love with her newest romantic comedy, Mixed Up. Hart indeed concocts a new kind of romance with her sassy and vibrant characters that makes a big splash onto the pages as she has readers like myself intoxicated with her fresh writing. With her wicked sense of humor, Hart mixed up a love story that combines friendship, banter, family, and good times.

#MixedUp_Emma

One thing about Emma Hart that I love is that she isn’t afraid to write a strong heroine and Raven Archer is one fierce and sassy fireball that isn’t afraid to get dirty. Raven owns Dirty, a cocktail bar restaurant. While Raven has no problems mixing and serving up the drinks, she runs into a problem when she can’t find a chef to help run the food side of the business. So when her brother suggest her to ask for help from Parker Hamilton, her brother’s best friend who happens to be a Michelin rated chef, Raven has to suck up her pride and hand over the reigns to Parker to help her. Did I mention that Parker and Raven have this hate/love relationship? So you guessed it...lots of banter that possibly leads to romance? Will Raven find herself mixing up a new concoction that is called Parker?

Mixed Up was a sexy, fun, and playful romance that will have you giggling and drunk in love with Hart’s writing. The characters were intoxicating as each serves up their charm to the story. So if you are looking for a story that will make you hungry and thirsty for more of Hart’s romantic comedy then this is the book for you.

FUCKING brilliant! One of the BEST enemies-to-lovers romances I've read this year!

Does Emma Hart ever give us a plain love story? HELL NO! She puts her whole self in every book she writes and you can feel it with every single turn of the page. MIXED UP was EVERYTHING a sexy, hilarious, banter-filled romance should be and SO MUCH MORE! At the very beginning, my whole heart was in Parker and Raven's story. These two were a trip and a half! The jabs and insults kept coming with every turn of the page and you just had to wonder, how will these two stubborn people knock down each other's walls long enough to reach their hearts? Of course I was rooting for them the whole way through, but man, it got HEATED fast!

And let me just tell you, these characters were EVERYTHING! Raven Archer is my spirit animal for sure! She is everything I strive to be on a daily basis. She is an independent female with the strength that could put some men to shame. She says what she feels and means it whole-heartedly. She's confident and she has a mouth of a sailor and I just adored her interactions with the bane of her existence, Parker Hamilton, her brother's best friend, and her annoying and cocky ENEMY!

"Will you please help me build the pool table?"

"Can I bend you over it after?"

"Only if you want to be punched in the face."

Parker Hamilton can't stand his best friend's little sister. She riles him up unapologetically and it infuriates him to no end. Then why the hell is he saying YES to her offer? Yes, she's undeniable HOT and she can make a mean and dirty cocktail, but how is this ever going to work? She's already off-limits because she is Ryan's baby sister, but now, she's his boss! This should be fun!

"Tell me not to kiss you again," he whispered. "Tell me not to fuck you...Boss."

OMG! Ladies you will be fanning yourself constantly during this sexy and laugh-out-loud romance. The character dynamic was INSANE and the premise was executed brilliantly. I couldn't have asked for a better ROMANCE from one of my favorite authors! Fabulous and smart writing, unforgettable and clever characters, and some of the BEST banter I've ever read in a romantic comedy! MIXED UP was some of Emma's BEST WORK and I can't wait to see what she brings us next. I've become rather GREEDY for her brand of romance and it grows stronger with every new story she gives us!

Hilarious sassy heroine. Floved her sass! Atta girl!

He was ok. I'm not a fan of enemies/friends-to-lovers tropes, it always means he was with OWs. But I knew it upfront, so I don't beef about it.

The heroine made this book for me.
Cool girl! ✌

Overall, this was a cute, light read. It was nothing special from all the other romance books I've read but it was alright.

But for a book that evolved around the best friend's sister trope, I felt that it was pretty weak. I didn't really care for Ryan because we barely got to see him interact with either of the main characters nor did he show any sort of overprotectiveness towards Raven that would give any indication that he would be fuming if he ever found out about her relationship with Parker. So I didn't really get why Parker and Raven were overly worried about hiding from Ryan when their relationship with him was fairly underdeveloped.

Usually, what I love about the best friend's sister trope is how things go crazy when the brother finally finds out about the main characters keeping their relationship a secret but when it came for the big reveal in Mixed Up, it was pretty anticlimactic. The most we got from Ryan was a scary look at Parker indicating that he knows. Wow. How terrifying.

Parker and Raven, on the other hand, were cute but I felt like we don't spend much time with them as a "couple". We spend more time with them as enemies than lovers. They had chemistry and sexual tension but I just didn't buy into their relationship because we didn't spend enough time with it. It was underdeveloped. They were secretly going behind Ryan's back for a week before they told him. Done, end of story. Anything before that was a hate relationship filled with banter that spanned for most of their lives that suddenly turned into feelings a week into their reunion after not seeing each other for like three years. The banter was fun but the actual relationship was a bit lacking.

Other than that, I loved the concept of the bar that Raven runs. I love that all the drinks she serve are in fact "Dirty" and named after sexual innuendos. The story had potential but was rushed in and lacked development in some areas.

“I’d spent my entire life hating her, yet now, here I was, falling in love with her.”

Raven and Parker have been enemies for over 20 years. Neither expects the attraction they feel after seeing each other for the first time in 4 years. But the sparks flew when they finally acknowledge the connection!

What I enjoyed: Both main characters. Raven is feisty, headstrong, and tough as nails. Parker is cocky, sweet, sexy, and goes after what he wants. I enjoyed them both.
The tropes. I’m a fan of enemies to lovers and this one worked. Their animosity and hatred was very evident. I wasn’t as impressed with the brother’s best friend trope that seemed to pop up and become a theme towards the end of the book.
The writing is fun, light, and witty. The cocktail names are hilarious! The Greek family drama was OTT and funny (in spots).

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. I had a few minor issues with the chemistry between the MCs, although I liked them individually. There was a little too much fighting and not enough loving for me, however it all worked out in the end. I recommend this book to lovers of witty banter, enemies to lovers, and sassy heroines.

Just what I needed.

Raven and Parker have a hate relationship held together through their families. Parker is best friends with Raven's brother. Their mums are close.

Raven owns a cocktail bar. Parker is a chef. She needs his skills. What starts as witty comebacks turn into smoking hot banter.

What happens when you fall for your brothers best friend? Sparkles will fly.

Cheeky Greek family... yes, please.
Hot-tempered female lead... yes!
Swoon-worthy male... hell yes.

Mixed up was the perfect cocktail. Paperback read.

I love Emma Hart. Her books are always the perfect balance of funny, sweet, emotional and hot.

Parker has been best friends with Raven’s older brother their whole lives, their mothers are best friends and live next door to each other yet they can’t be in the same room without fighting like cats and dogs. This is how it’s been their whole lives. When Raven has a staff shortage her only solution is to hire Parker to run her kitchen.

As they spend more time together the sexual tension between the two is off the charts. The banter between the two of them was so realistic and hilarious, I was completely hooked. The whole book felt like one big constant stream of foreplay. I was either laughing or squirming and I loved every second of it.

Raven was such an awesome heroine. And I loved her family and the interaction between them all was great. The secondary characters were all great additions and the whole thing just worked so well. The drama was in perfect perspective and didn’t feel like drama for the sake of drama. Overall it was the perfect enemies to lovers with an older brother’s best friend twist. Go grab it now.

description

I would label Mixed Up as a summertime beach read. It's hot and relaxing with a lot of flirting and friendly fighting (usually at the same time). Also, it has many cocktails recipes ;)

Raven and Parker had hated each other since they were kids. But now they are adults forced to work together. Raven owns a cocktail bar and she is in need of a chef. Parker - her brother's best friend - is 'willing' to help her. As a favor to her brother, of course. His help has certainly got nothing to do with the fact that he can't get Raven out of his head. And Raven is not attracted to him at all. Cocktails are to blame for all the heat she feels. If you are mixing drinks with names like Dirty Screw, Filthy Hooker, Slutwisperer, Pussy Pounder, Blue Balls every day, of course, you see sex everywhere. But despite their denied sexual attraction, they knew for sure how to lit this bar on fire.

I recommend Mixed Up to all who love enemies to lovers trope, steamy and funny books and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Raven is half Greek and her extended family from Greece is on the visit. Most of the book I had a feeling I'm in that movie and I was totally ok with that because I love the movie. Don't expect something memorable but like I said - take this book on a beach, put your feet in a sea and drink Tropical Dreams. And make notes on all the recipes. I have a strong urge to try some cocktails right now.

Parker and Raven are enemies. Always have been. But when Raven needs a chef for her bar Dirty, she has no other option but to hire Parker, her brother’s best friend.

Parker and Raven have great banter. It was very entertaining when they would bicker, which was most of the time. Even when they started to feel things other than hate for each other. The story was very entertaining and interesting as Raven’s crazy family was in town. This pushed them to work together and become more.

I liked this book a lot, but I wish it would have spanned more time and that we could see them together more as a couple. I felt like it just happened and then the book was over and their relationship had barely started. I enjoyed how they interacted with each other before they got together, but I just wish we could have seen it develop more. But even with that, it was a good read.

If you like enemies-to-lovers or brother’s best friend books, this one is for you! I’m looking forward to reading more books by Emma Hart in the future! -Leah, 4 Stars

After the boatload of stories that churn out angsty pages of a woman pining for her brother's best friend, "Mixed Up" bulldozes its way in and quite boldly goes where few authors have gone before. What is the brother's best mate is in fact, an enemy of sorts and has been for years? What if, the dislike really isn't a veiled attempt at annoying the girl or boy you secretly like? What if the dislike is real, up until the point where close quarters makes both parties re-evaluate what they know of each other?

This much describes the relationship between Parker and Raven, only that attraction suddenly comes into question when the former is hired to man the kitchen in her bar. Emma Hart does write their antagonism believably and does such a good job of ratcheting up the sexual tension through the insults that both Parker and Raven throw at each other.

The book is by and large, a light, near angst-free enjoyable read, though I felt we were more in Raven's head than Parker's. There's so much focus on her crazy Greek family, the infamous Greek temper and the stereotypical embarrassing relatives that it sidelined Parker as well: I never quite found out why he left or lost his job in New York (other than the fact that he's got 3 Michelin stars), or why he'd returned for the summer, despite Hart detailing the change in his own feelings for Raven as much as she did for the latter.

Thankfully, Hart keeps Raven and Parker mostly behaving as adults that they are - a descent into juvenile dialogue and behaviour would have killed the story for me - and I could definitely appreciate how the big brother business wasn't blown out of proportion and I was in fact, pleasantly surprised by it. The HFN ending is also sort of understandable, considering how Parker and Raven were still finding their feet together, though I thought an epilogue further down the road would have been perfect.

Did I read the same book as everyone else? What was that rushed ending? If it wasn't for the epilogue, I would have thought I read an unfinished copy of Mixed Up. I was beyond shocked when I turned to the next page and found it was the epilogue. I was so disappointed.

I read Emma Hart for the first time this year and she is proving to be quite the master at writing romantic comedy. Mixed Up was well mixed up; long time enemies turn to frenemies and more in this rip roaring hilarious story that was fun to read.

Raven Archer is a successful mixologist and owner of the bar Dirty where she happily creates drinks with you guessed it suggestive, dirty names. She’s a big of a workaholic and adding a kitchen and food menu to her bar is only adding to her plate especially since she is having a hard time finding an executive chef willing to work in a bar in Whiskey Key, Florida. To top is off her entire big, Greek family is descending in less than a week for a family reunion that her mother has decided should be held in her bar. Her chef brother has taken another job for the summer, but recommends his best friend and her moral enemy, Parker Hamilton, for the job in her kitchen and under duress she has no choice but to hire him.

Raven and Parker are a perfect example of two people who have spent years in a pattern of behavior and have no idea how to change it. While at times they seem complete opposites; Raven is sassy and impulsive and Parker is calm and stoic in their domains they are masters; Raven is a cocktail genius and Parker has proven himself as a chef earning three Michelin stars. The barbs and insults that fly between them had me laughing out loud and the tension between them ratcheting higher every day. They were attracted to one another, not that they would ever admit it and Parker is determined to not go there with his best friend’s sister.

I enjoyed watching the way their relationship changed over the course of this story and the way they began to respect one another’s ability at what they do, and then the ways they noticed every little thing about each other. When their animosity towards one another fuels the lust they can’t seem to deny, their encounter is smokin’ hot and while they want to say it was mistake neither one can deny they want to do it again.

Add in Raven’s crazy, large family, Parker’s meddling mother, co-workers who suspect something is going on and friends whose advice changes constantly and you have one crazy, mixed up romance that leaves you laughing out loud.

Mixed Up was flat out funny, but I also loved the fact that these two people who had spent years trying to get under each other’s skin, found that they really didn’t know one another well and couldn’t wait to find out every special little thing about each other. Seriously, that people is what romance is all about!

He's a Chef and she is a Mixologist. He is her brother's best friend. They have hated each other all this while.
Raven is a strong, sassy, independent girl who runs a tight ship with her business. With the family reunion happening soon, she needs a chef asap to manage the newly opened restaurant section to her bar. She is desperate and that is the only reason she asks Parker Hamilton to work for her. So what if he is a Michelin star Chef, she is not sure if they can survive working together in such close quarters.
The both of them are complete opposite of each other yet so much similar in some ways. She is loud and sassy, he is calm and patient. They both are passionate about their work. She loves control and he has no problem giving it to her, unless they are in bed 😉
I loved both these characters so much. The other supporting characters were amazing, especially both the moms & Yia-Yia. This is a fun enemies-to-lovers, drama-free romance that I'm sure everyone will love.

Enjoyable Read. The heroine was cool and sassy! I loved her. I liked the hero also. The book was funny and I just liked the heroine badass behavior!

Safety Issue: They knew each other since they were toddlers, so neither of them was celibate after meeting obviously. But the hero was not a manwhore.

I really did enjoy this book. The enemies-to-lovers and my brother/sister's best friend trope is one of my favourites and Emma Hart does a fantastic job depicting this in Mixed Up. Raven Archer and Parker Hamilton have hated each other for as long as they've known each other. It's gotten to the point where their families separate them so that no blood is shed. The banter between the two of them was witty, fast and feisty. Raven especially had creative insults. She was a brilliant mixologist and the names of her cocktails were creative and showed her sassy side. Parker is a newly awarded Michelin star chef who has worked steadily towards his goal. He returns home for the summer while he figures out his next move. Raven is the owner of a bar called Dirty, which perfectly sums up why the names of her cocktails are naughty. She has decided to expand by serving food and is in desperate need of a chef.

Added to that is her family reunion, with a crazy aunt and a no nonsense grandmother. With well meaning friends added into the mix and the simmering tension between Raven and Parker, and you have the recipe for a potent and explosive story. The build-up between Raven and Parker was hot. I loved how the transition from enemies to lovers and at the same time respected and complimented one another.

I would have loved a longer epilogue but it was enough to make me happy. Emma Hart really did bring the push and pull factor and paired two of the most well suited characters together, even if they didn't realise it themselves.

All in all, an enjoyable book and another reason to add Emma Hart to my go-to authors list.

Mixed Up the latest release from Emma Hart is an angsty hate to love read, that snaps, crackles, and pops from beginning to end.

I swear Emma Hart should write enemies to lovers books all the time. It's her specialty, without a doubt. Emma’s genius storytelling is laugh out loud funny, refreshing and mighty addictive. Not only does Emma come up with some of the best storylines, in Mixed Up she's made some crazy delicious sounding cocktails that I am desperate to try!

Mixed Up is HOT! From the off there is an undeniable connection that sizzles it's way through, that pulled me deeper and deeper into this story. The hate filled back and forth between our lead characters is the best kind of foreplay! And that foreplay leads to some hefty explosions!

Raven is incredibly smart, strong and sassy. At times I thought she was a tad over the top, like her hate went too far but it was rescued by her comedic one liners and snark.

Parker is FANTASTIC. Alpha to the core. He's wicked, sinful and down right dirty. He's also great with his hands... He's a chef! Lord, get your mind out the gutter. *winks*

Once again Emma delivers. Mixed Up was a great read. 4 perfect enemies to lovers stars!

descriptionI expected a lot of things at the start of this summer. Hiring Parker wasn't one of them— and falling in love with him definitely wasn't. I was the mixologist, but there was no doubt at all that he'd come home and mixed up my world.

After being in a book funk for a month, it is so refreshing to pick up a book, and that too by a favorite author, and enjoy it for what it is.

Mixed Up is nothing but pure and light entertaining read full of a hate-love relationship between the leads, a crazy as f*ck family and a whole dose of sass, because duh! it is an Emma Hart book we are talking about after all.

Told in Dual Point of View, Mixed Up is about Raven Archer falling in love with the one person she hates the most in the entire world. Her brother's best friend — Parker Hamilton.

descriptionRaven Archer had her own gravitational pull, and I was afraid there was no breaking free.

My mom says that you can't truly hate a person unless and until you have murdering tendencies towards them. Raven and Parker? They H-A-T-E each other. Yup! All capital letters!

The book opens up to Raven looking for a chef so that she can expand her already flourishing cocktail bar, Dirty. As desperate as she is, the last thing she wants to do is ask Parker for any kind of help. Even if it for a short term.

Parker Hamilton, Michelin star chef, is back in his hometown in Whiskey Key for a long overdue vacation and the last thing he expects is to work with his best friend's little sister — Raven Archer.

What was supposed to be a pure business relationship with a few daydreams about how they could murder each other, slowly turned into something more before either of them could think about it.
The whip-quick exchanges, hateful looks turned into exchanges full of lust and innuendos and a cracking atmosphere whenever they came near each other. What was just a one-time "mistake" became one of the best and unexpected things that happened to these two.

descriptionParker Hamilton was my person.

Overall, like I said, Mixed Up is pure entertainment. There is no over the top things happening in the story that feel out of place. They characters are fantastic, sarcastic and witty. Raven, with her spitfire personality, sassy comebacks and a big and soft heart that she rarely lets anyone see, is a character you will instantly like. Parker, with his cocky and sure attitude, perfectly compliments Raven's personality.

Humor, sass, and an overall light read was exactly what I was looking for to get out of my month long hiatus. So, if you are looking for any of the things I stated, pick it up!

4.5 Stars!

God!! With all the dirty names of those Mixed Up drinks, Me needed like forever to come up with a review...

Of course when the book is an enemies to lovers, it's an auto buy for me, but when it's written by Emma Hart don't even have the words to describe my feelings.

Raven hated Parker and Parker hated Raven even more.

description

When she needed a chief for her new kitchen, Raven was stuck between hiring the devil or giving up on her new project. Working with the enemy was certainly calling for a disaster especially when all they were both thinking about was hate-f*cking each other.

Him..

“I’d hate-fuck the hell out of you on this counter, right here, right now, if I didn’t think you’d alarm everyone with your screaming.”

Her..

“Talk to me like that again, and you’re gonna find your balls inside that blender on the highest setting before I drown you in your own cock. I’m still your fucking boss. Are we clear, Parker Hamilton?”

See? They totally hate each other.

There were million reasons why Raven was off limits for Parker.

“She was so many different kinds of forbidden it wasn’t even close to funny. My best friend’s sister, my boss, the person I’d hated my whole life. The only thing that would hold me back was the knowledge she hated me more than I did her. If I kissed her, she’d probably remove my cock with her bare hands and then hit me with it.”

Working with the enemy came with many surprises. And soon the hating game became tempting, hot and adventurous.

“I couldn’t have her, so I wanted her more. More than I’d ever wanted anyone. It was clichéd to fuck, but I didn’t care. Something about the way she looked at me when she got annoyed sparked something deep inside me.”

The line between hate and love is unvisible and Parker while trying to tease Raven and drive her up the wall didn't know when his feelings began to change.

“My biggest problem with you is that I'm trying to hate you the way I have done for years, and I can't.”

I'm not a drinker, but I swear to God, those mixed up beauties were worth getting wasted. Emma Hart did it again and came up with a book that has it all.

Mixed Up was freaking amazing. I loved every single aspect of the story. I can’t even begin to explain my love for these characters. That’s exactly how I love the characters to be, a heroine who is strong, sassy and savage mixed with gentleness and a hero who can take as much as he can give.

Mixed Up is about Parker and Raven who had been enemies their whole life. When Raven’s Greek family are due to come in town for a family reunion, she is in dire need of a chef. When her brother suggested that she employed Parker, her mortal enemy, she had no choice but to accept as she had no luck in finding another chef. What began as ruthless fighting filled with sexual tensions turned much more?

What I loved the most about this story was the characters. Raven Archer was a brutal, sharp-tongued vixen capable of building you up and tearing you down in the same sentence. And that’s exactly how I love my heroines to be. And Parker Hamilton was just damn too good. I love as he always speaks his mind. I love the way he annoyed and riled up Raven.

I rolled my eyes. “Now you’re just being annoying. Don’t you have anything better to do? Like your job?”
“I can’t think of anything better to do than piss you off, hotshot.”

And the banter between Raven and Parker was just freaking epic that I was laughing so hard.

My gaze flicked to him, and I glared. "I know asshole is your default mode, but there's no need to throw yourself into it so enthusiastically."
------------------------------------------------

"Will you please help me build the pool table?"

"Can I bend you over it after?"

"Only if you want to be punched in the face."

In all, it was really a great story. I just found that the end was rather rushed and would have preferred an epilogue after some years to see whether Raven and Parker still have their dynamics.

Review by Lisa Kane

Raven Archer owns a trendy bar, Dirty in Key West. She’s a genius with a liquor bottle. Her concoctions (the Slutwhisperer, the Dirty Screw, The Blue Balls) set her apart from every other bar in the Keys. But she can’t cook and she needs a new chef desperately. She begs her brother Ryan to help out. He’s the chef in the family, but he’s already committed to working the summer for another place. He suggests she hire Parker Hamilton, his best friend. But if anyone can make her lose her mind it would be Parker. The two can’t stand each other and got off on making the other miserable.

“I don’t care if Parker Hamilton is Michelin-starred or has a fast-track to Heaven. He’s not working for me. I’m not that desperate.”

And I never would be.

So guess who shows up in town? But it’s been three years since the two have been in the same room and there’s been some changes.

I didn’t know people could change so much in only three years, but Raven Archer had.

Don’t get me wrong, they may seriously be attracted to one another, but they aren’t ready to wave any white flags. Parker does suggest that Raven’s Greek heritage would be a big advantage in deciding what food to serve. Her big Greek family centers on cooking and eating. There’s no Greek style food being served from her competitors. Hmm…

Mixed Up is funny and sexy and the like the perfect cocktail it refreshes and satisfies.

“But I’m confused. I’m conflicted. And I’m afraid that I can’t be without her. There’s something about her that pulls me in. I don’t care about what happened before-I care what happens now.”

I've had a lot of good luck lately with rom-coms and let me tell you that Mixed Up TAKES THE CAKE people! I mean for real ... like ridiculously witty and sexy and fun and all wrapped up with heart! I can't even with this book .... As I was reading I just kept thinking to myself, "Why have I not read everything this woman has written?" .. Imma change that like yesterday!

With an enemies to lovers story, there's a special type of banter between the leads that sells the story. It's passive aggressive sarcasm bordering on insulting laced with sexy innuendo. Emma Hart hit that out of the park with these two. I more than smiled my way thru this book, i down right LAUGHED OUT LOUD!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention exceptional #CoverWIN and #BlurbWIN :)

Do yourselves a favor and read this book. Read Emma Hart. It will blow your mind! #TRUST

About halfway through this book, I started craving a cocktail. Really no idea why.

Wait, maybe it was the hot chef, the crazy good chemistry, and the numerous drinks with great names.

Guessing that was it.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved the enemies to lovers aspect and I really liked Parker and Raven. I related to them, and I loved that at this point, the hatred and the fighting are really more habit than anything else. This definitely assists with the transition to romantic as you see them really kind of liking one another, without wanting to, but not really able to point to a reason for their hatred.

There were some places where I felt Parker was a little underdeveloped and I did want a little more info about him, the job he just left, for example. But for the most part the characters were solid, you believe them, and you believe the situations and their reactions to them.

This only my 2nd book by Emma Hart (no, I am not sure how that happened either) and I definitely am looking forward to her next title!

I recommend this book.

Mixed Up is the perfect blend of sweet and sassy with a dash of one big crazy Greek family. Raven and Parker have always hated each other. He's her brother's best friend and the one person she just completely can't stand to be around.

"He was the ultimate thorn in my side, the biggest pain in the ass I’d ever have. He was more annoying than stepping on a Lego."

But once her crazy Greek family insists on bringing their family reunion to her bar she is left in a bind. She needs a chef asap and Parker is the only one available. Reluctantly she hires him on and the more time they spend together serves to be explosive...in more ways than one! All that hate gets channeled into other outlets between the two and things start to heat up.

"I'd spent my entire life hating her, yet now, here I was, falling in love with her."

The hate to lovers storyline was done well. Their transition from hating to liking was smooth and fluid. The crazy Greek family added such a fresh and fun twist. It was a perfect lighthearted read to curl up with.

A quick, easy read from Hart, MIXED UP is a enemy's to lovers story filled with angst and raging hormones. Going from hating your best friends sister to wanting to sleep with her comes with its own special bag of issues-especially when your families are best friends and there are no secrets to be had. Everyone knows everything about everyone.

Parker Hamilton is a three star Michelin chef. He's a beast in the kitchen and a great guy out of it. Unless you're Raven, the passionate Greek brunette who lives across the street and happens to be Ryan, his best friends younger sister. Parker can't stand Raven and the feeling is mutual. Constantly at odds, arguing like an old married couple, fighting for the sake of fighting, and acting like children half the time, their immature behaviour began to get on my nerves. Raven is a smart, independent woman, who runs her own business, a bar named DIRTY where she mixes a mean cocktail to the locals of their home town Whisky Key, in Florida.

Parker and Raven have serious chemistry throughout the book. Their passion towards each other really grabs you, but it was of the sexual nature and didn't feel more than that for me. There was too much fighting between these two and not enough...feels. It wasn't until the last 15% that these two really divulged their feelings regarding the other, and it wasn't to each other, it was only to the reader. The depth of the emotions was a little light for me, I wished there had been more...POP to their "relationship".

Despite not being my cup of tea, MIXED UP by Emma Hart was a good read, but fell slightly flat for me. I can still appreciate the writing skills, and the great character development throughout the read, though. I loved the Greek flavour, the culture and all the mentions of some of my favourite food!

Enemies-To-Lovers are a HUGE favourite of mine! I love the build up to those explosive fireworks between the characters and the deliverance of the execution and let me say that 'Mixed Up' by the crazy talented Emma Hart did not disappoint!
Emma Hart creates strong independent heroines that every female reader wants to be, Raven Archer is no exception and has rightfully joined the long list of female lead characters created by this author who all have the ability to actually terrify Satan himself.

Raven Archer is a very talented mixologist living in a small town called Whiskey Key. She owns a cocktail bar with an edge and is showered with support from her CRAZY Greek family!
Raven is in desperate need of a chef who can deliver a menu that compliments her cocktails. Desperate times call for desperate measures and when her brothers best friend arrives back in town with his Michelin stars, things become a little trickier, and sexier! Parker Hamilton has arrived back in town...BOOM!

Raven is a strong, independent woman and has a uniquely creative mind! She has a 'take no shiz' attitude and is very fast witted. Her character made me laugh from beginning to end.

Parker Hamilton is a freaking gorgeous hero to this story. I loved that he to was fast witted and able to keep up with Raven. His battle with temptation was written very well and overall I loved his character.

I felt the connection between Raven and Parker immediately with their reunion at the beginning of the book. There was plenty of sexual tension that built up blessing me with those feels that I crave from both characters. The banter between Parker and Raven was absolutely comical
