Emergency Rations: Surviving the Struggles of Life

Rate this book
We are daily reminded of our lack of trust in God, our neglect of prayer, our worship of other things - our faithlessness to a perfectly faithful God. Philip De Courcy looks at the every-day struggles of life, from understanding God's purposes to coping with pain. He draws on Scripture to help equip us for these struggles - and encourage us to rely on our Father who did not leave us without guidance, even for the smallest aspect of life.

Emergency Rations is a devotional book that offers anecdotes from historical events and people’s past experiences that are used to relate a Christian premise. The book is sectioned into themes and each day begins with a Scripture verse, followed by a brief story, and then a succinct lesson, or insight that is gleaned form the story. It’s practical, biblical and encouraging, with the purpose of helping the reader through life’s struggles and trials. Though it isn’t my favorite devotional, I did find it interesting and uplifting and will be rereading it at some point in the future.
