Rate this book
Blackmail. Greed. Consequences.
The Blackfriar Apartment Building once again seemed like a quiet, safe place to live. A rash of blackmail and murders had plagued the residents but now all seemed peaceful again...
...until successful erotica writer Irene Costain came home to find a note under her door demanding $100,000. She was instructed to buy a very distinctive handbag when she'd collected the money and put it in her window so the blackmailer could see and tell her where to deliver the loot.
Most of her acquaintances didn't know she wrote titillating books. Nor did they know she had a secret British bank account worth millions, but the blackmailer did.
Irene's window wasn't the only place that very distinctive designer handbag showed up. Were the other women who'd bought the same bag also being blackmailed to keep their secrets safe?
Irene and her lover were determined to track and trap the criminal mind preying on three women who all lived at The Blackfriar Apartments.

Another strong mystery

Once again the Blackfriar Apartments are the scene of a blackmail scheme. This book does follow the theme of the last couple of stories. Still holds your interest and keeps you wondering. A fun read.

A really good story. Quite the mystery. Interesting plot. Quite the cast of characters. Unusual setting, but of course that makes it more of a mystery. The two lead characters, Irene and Robert (or Bob as he is called when he is undercover), seem to have a very strong love relationship at the beginning, but Robert seems to have second thoughts about how serious it is...or should be, having been burned by his ex-wife. Now he holds back on commitment. But that is only a subplot. The real plot is finding out who the blackmailer is.

There are plenty of suspects and it turns out there have been plenty of victims. Very mysterious deaths and all happening in a single apartment building. Very strange, pointing to a building resident probably being the culprit. But as the story progresses, it becomes obvious that the blackmailer is a greedy, ruthless person. Robert, who works for the British secret service, gets the FBI involved and resources utilized to catch the blackmailer. And when it happens, Robert surprises Irene by leaving without notice or explanation. Thus begins the final subplot of the story and things are quickly brought to a happy conclusion.
