Erich Anton Paul von Däniken (1935–2026) was a Swiss author of several pseudoscientific books which made claims about extraterrestrial influences on early human culture, including the best-selling Chariots of the Gods?, published in 1968. Däniken was one of the main figures responsible for popularizing the "paleo-contact" and ancient astronauts hypotheses.

The ideas put forth in his books are rejected by virtually all scientists and academics, who categorize his work as pseudohistory, pseudoarchaeology, and pseudoscience. Early in his career, he was convicted and served time for several counts of fraud or embezzlement, and wrote one of his books in prison.

Преди 89-та и малко след това баща ми много си обичаше една малка руска книжка, която адресираше всички световни загадки към Космоса. “Междузвездни войни” още се гледаха на кино, Дисни дори не беше ги загледало - бяха твърде сериозна топка. “Извънземното” стана хит. Фантастиките от златната епоха се превеждаха на страниците на “Космос”, и дори скучният Александър Беляев се заигра с мита за Атлантида. Даже по пионерските списания се появиха “снимки” и истории за отвличания от извънземни. Излизаше списание “НЛО” - всеки трети американец говореше с извънземни.

И тогава с гръм и трясък се появи преведеният Ерих фон Деникен. Беше очарователно. Четях го в упоение. Пирамидите може да са построени само от извънземни. Фигурите в Наска са указания за извънземни кацащи космически кораби. Изобщо човечеството нищичко не може да свърши самичко, а официалната история е прах в очите на простодушните.

Бях удивена, когато научих че по професия Деникен е хотелиер. Като младеж е диагностициран като патологичен лъжец. Като възрастен лежи в затвора - за финансови престъпления. Водата лекувала всичко. Сбирките за викане на духове се превръщат в нормално забавление. И как да не избухне Френската революция, пита се в задачата? 150 г. по-късно идват мистичният Распутин и Октомврийската революция. А в средновековието вещерството и демонологията са си науки - пишат се редица трактати, пълни с крайно интересни и крайно сензационни детайли, графики, таблици и изчисления. Кипят научни спорове по тези сериозни въпроси.

Такива като Деникен няма нужда да изследват. Те вече знаят. My mom and I had picked this out for my husband as a last minute Christmas gift while browsing Barnes and Noble. There was no way I was going to pass checking this book out now that it was on my radar, since I have the same casual interest in the supernatural and aliens as my husband does. The great thing is that it is mostly pictures, making it a quick, light read that wouldn’t take me away from my current read for too long.

I wasn’t familiar with a lot of the pictures or places that are brought up in this book which was refreshing; its not as if it focuses on only the pyramids or the Nazca Lines which even the most amateur alien enthusiast will have heard about in relation to otherworldly visitors. This meant a good 95% of what I read in this book was new to me which I thought would be hard to do considering all the alien stuff my husband has us watch on TV.

However, this book left a lot to be desired for me. I don’t know much about photography so I don’t know if a professional photographer was needed or better equipment could have improved the pictures because the quality was not that great. I also didn’t like that you might be reading about one image but the image referenced wasn’t even present on the current page. Sometimes it could be 3 or 4 pages from where you are actually reading. I also wasn’t a fan of the author’s voice at times. While the point of this book is to offer an alternative view of some of the more unusual ancient artifacts left on Earth, I think the author’s tangents bemoaning the other theories for the artifacts weakened the tone of the book. It is fine to disagree with what others believe but the way the author voices this sounded very immature and prevented it from reading like a polished work on the subject. Here’s a perfect example of the cringe worthy digs that are peppered throughout the book: “I keep hearing arrogant critics who don’t know anything – or at best might have studied a few semesters of ethnology, and then only in relation to a restricted geographical area – say that common features are of no significance.“ (Pg. 25)

I’m not sure if I will pick up any of the author’s other books since I wasn’t a fan of his personal writing style. The content also didn’t wow me like I thought it would. I guess, for me, there is only so much you can read about cave paintings and rock mounds. This book might have shown me that my interest lies more in ghosts, demonology, and the occult rather then aliens, but I think I’m going to have to try one or two more books on the subject before I can make a definitive call.

Very interesting, not sure of his conclusions but he is definitely more believable than people who just blindly accept the status quo and conclusions of the past. Makes me want to investigate more!

An incredible archive of images from around the world. Informative and a unique look at some sites that I have not even heard of. Only drawback was the author's defensiveness, he allowed his frustration at his detractors to get the better of him. The facts speak for themselves and his conclusions are astounding, but thought provoking as well. I myself agree with many of them. great book, will try to pick up some more of his works later.

umas beem depois de ele ter citado,outras antes
e quando vc vai ver as paginas,vc esquece parcialmente do que se tratava
fora q tem alguns erros de digitação

"Доказателство за боговете" или по-точно доказателство, че древните цивилизации са вярвали в богове. Тоест, нещо което взимаме за даденост, а не нещо супер невероятно. Авторът е скандален, целият си живот го уповава на факти, взети от други като него, които също имат непотвърдени факти, взети от други като тях и така нататък. Но това е нормално за този тип книги, нормално мислещите хора не могат да бъдат повлияни. Заради това автоматически взех една звезда. Втората звезда е от обемът и начина на подредба на книгата - повече се усещаше като някаква чернова, нещо несериозно, подплатено със собствени снимки от автора, свързани с пътуванията му по света. Буквално описани и показани обекти с типичния тон тип "Древните извънземни", че трябва човек да се замисли и, че "не казвам, че са извънземни, ама няма кой друг да бъде". Нямах кой знае какви очаквания и не научих особено много за дългия обем на книгата (около 80 стр. без снимките).

I like his work, but the book seems to make a lot of connections that are a bit of a reach for me. Captured some great photographs, and he did make some valid points as well. I enjoy reading his work, but not sure if I buy into all of it. I'd really need to see these lands for myself to make my best assessment. If you like his other books, you will like this one too :)

Not that I believe in ancient aliens but I liked it all the same because it brings up interesting perspective. I guess that's why there were similar shows on History channel. Entertainment for sure.

I enjoy this Book the lovely information and pictures. Over 200 pages of wonderful insight. I enjoy page 44 pic 44 the Alien pic. I keep coming across this pic almost everyday and It is all meant to be. Great book and great pictures.
