“Everyone has secrets; revealing them is simply a matter of finding out where to dig.”

RILEY
I moved in with him at the age of 17, and by the time I was 21, he’d hit me for the last time. I gathered up my things, took the car he bought me, and left.

My first stop? A celebratory tattoo, of course.

I had no idea when I walked into Blurred Lines that the owner would be handsome, mysterious, tattooed, and muscular.

Having him permanently etch his artwork on my skin became an addiction.

And, so did he.

The more I understood Blake, the more interesting he became. His past was pieced together by a series of events that he barely
recollected. Through our discussions during my sessions, however, things became clearer.

Then, one day, he remembered everything.

And, I was left to decide if I could handle the monsters of his past.

BLAKE

When Riley walked into my shop the first time, I stopped dead in my tracks.

21, gorgeous, and carefree, she was everything I wasn’t.

Yet.

She was everything I wanted.

There was one small problem.

My perceptions and reality sometimes differ greatly, leaving me with beliefs that may or may not be reality. Things get blurry.

I knew one thing for sure.

I wanted Riley Campbell.

Or at least I wanted my perception of her.

I liked this book, but I think I read it too soon after reading Fuck Buddy, which I loved, and ended up disappointed because I was comparing the two stories. I just didn't connect with the characters as much as I wanted and it made me lose interest in the story some. Overall, though, I did enjoy the book and I will certainly be continuing with this author.

For once a book where the sex isn’t forced, written for shock value alone, or simply weaved into the plot as filler. Erotic, sexy, romantic, and with meaning, Blurred Lines is delivered by a what seems to be a new and well-honed Scott Hildreth.

Blake West is a recovering addict and the owner of Blurred Lines. One of his addictions? Sex. Although he’s determined to succeed at recovering, he has a hard time (no pun intended) convincing himself not to pay special interest to Riley Campbell.

Riley is a new client at his shop. She’s six months removed from an abusive relationship and now yearns for her fairy tale romance. She finds Blake to be very intriguing, quite mysterious and one hundred percent handsome. Her first tattoo is far from what she expected, and immediately she seeks solace in the tattoo shop and the hypnotic procedure of being tattooed.

Soon, Riley becomes almost dependent on the shop, Blake, and the process of being tattooed. The more she learns about him, the more she wants to learn. Labeling him as interesting is a horrific understatement, but his past is somewhat of a mystery. As time passes she learns more, and the more she learns, the more she wants to learn. Determined to find answers about her intriguing new love interest, she digs at every chance she gets.

Colorful characters, colorful tattoos, and colorful (one is very vibrant) tattoo artists carry the plot of this story as it unfolds chapter by chapter without a single dull moment.

As Riley reveals Blake’s past in small bits and pieces, she in turn uncovers her own, and the reader realizes just why it is they seem to be drawn together in the magical manner that feeds them both.

Blurred lines is just that. It thrusts the reader into the grey matter between the black of wrong and white of right. Somewhere between fact and fiction.

Hovering in this grey limbo we learn to live (for the time it takes to read this wonderful tale) in the blurred lines somewhere in the middle of what is love, conviction, romance, and in the end, a victory fueled by the blurriest line of all, vengeance. And it is there where we reside and must answer the lifelong question of just how we would react in a similar situation.

A must read for so many reasons, Blurred Lines will without a doubt open your eyes, cause you to laugh, cause you to question yourself, create a tear, and melt your panties into a pile on the floor.

And it will do all of this for less than the cost of a Caramel Latte at Starbucks.

I am now a Scott Hildreth fan. I have been really enjoying the last few books of his that I tried. He always writes addictive stories with interesting and unforgettable characters and Blurred Lines definitely is that. I also liked that this story had some plot twists that I did not see coming. Highly recommend if you are looking for a book that is more than a romance.

4 "blurring" stars

So, Blurred lines were just what the title says, blurred. Nah, just kiddin'
I bloody well liked the book but... And that is not my fault either! LMAO

You see, and Scott, this goes to you too, one can't read books like Hard Corps

Hard Corps (Selected Sinners MC, #7) by Scott Hildreth (which blew my mind, btw) and one of my very faves Taking the heat
Taking the Heat (Selected Sinners MC, #2) by Scott Hildreth
and NOT be ruined for other works. Cause now that the bar is set so high I have high expectations too. So, God damn it...

What about this book?
As always, and that is one of the high standards I search and expect to find in all of the books written by Scott are the life altering truths.

I somehow always seem to find those on almost every page...

Things that you tend to forget in everyday's hectic life, things you should be reminded of regularly as a token to a positive way of existing/living. Cause when we don't apply those truths we are not actually living but merely existing. So, I always feel reminded of, aware of and woken up after reading one of Scott's books and this one is no exception.

It's not easy to review this book cause it's not simple to do so without spoiling it and giving away the plot. Cause there's no actual plot as such...it 's complex covered with multiple layers and multiple details that you can't just pick up and point at...

The story of Blurred lines is actually another journey. It's about Blake West – a tattoo parlor owner, an artist, a man's with inner fight to co-exist within himself in co-habitance with the outside world. It's about a man who is shielding himself from the dreadful events in his childhood that scarred him on a deeper level of acceptance of himself as an individual, of his surroundings, of the outer world by applying vices/addictions onto himself as a way of protection.
"The pieces of my life I had always found distasteful were never able to be cast aside, forgotten, or simply walked away from. They remained a part of me, and often became part of my day-to-day decision making , reminding me further of their significance in my life."

He's lingering between the fine line of the wordly chaos and that of his own. The fantasy/imaginary segments shelter him from the clutches of reality as he lets go in the grandiose delusional disorder.
“...I've created a safe place for my mind because of all of it. I kind of develped a subconscious fantasy or something.

He's complex, complicated, layered up and we follow his revelation and transition when he meets Riley Campbell, a young woman who escaped the supposed „dream“ of a relationship that ended badly for her and she is actually in search for the opposite only she's not aware of it. She wants the reality, she's hungry and open and young and eager. She feels like the world is there to be taken under her feet. Her change starts when she enters the tattoo shop. Blake's tattoo shop. They are linked by the opposite need, they represent each others salvation, love and revelation even if they didn't ask for it, they didn't go searching and seeking for it...they just happened...to each other.
“Our having found each other wasn't by design or the result of an exaustive search on either of our parts. We were two people who were looking for nothing yet found everything; and we found it in each other.

Knowing the odds of us finding each other was more than merely happenstance, yet further understanding what caused us to meet was beyond my comprehention, I was only able to sit back and thank God for gracing me with her presence

as they slowly begin to define the Blurred lines. of each other, of their connection and their relationship.

 photo ea9117de-8b85-449e-b8a4-17634d668f91_zpsv8iaad9d.png

She is slowly freeing him from the confines of his own mind cage by making him interact, making him engage.

 photo f10c1eca-a9e3-4127-b89b-c05eb0d65215_zpsdmkotvev.jpg
...when he was uncertain of his surroundings there was much more depth to his being.

And as well as she's giving him the strength to deal with the dreadful things from his past and to acknowledge them by facing them. And the same cruelty of the events from the past would only bring them closer as the very same past event connects them in sorrow and loss.

“To recognize darkness as being so, we must have an understanding of what light is. To truly comprehend goodness, an understanding of what we believe to be evil is necessary. You define evil.

I live in a world of grey because of you although I certainly realize a black and white one surrounds me.

I reserve hope of one day obtaining a personal sense of perfection, as i am still young and have a lifetime to make whatever corrections I feel I must to do so.“

And he finally sets himself free, and he points it out with one methaphorical move, an action that speaks louder than words and means more that action itself.

Blake carried a cross around his neck that significated and outlined so much from his tormented past...the past he could not have let go that easy, cause it was imbeded into him.

 photo c2195383-4653-4845-98fa-5ef2f7f8ab76_zpsbqkj8hpj.jpg

Well, happenstance may be, comprehention or not, I do believe that everything does happen for a reason.

I have to mention the secondary cast if you want to call them that, even if they are intertwined with the main characters on some other level and could not be depict just like that – the cameo roles of the Selected sinners MC members made me think how much details and preparations a writer must do to follow all the appearances of every single character written in his books...just wow!

In the end this was an interesting read even if I didn't follow the same „rules of reasoning of the happenstance“, I was a bit confused at the start but then it sucked me in and here i am now.

Scott Hildreth is one author I would always admire, because he's not just an author, he's a storyteller; and he's not just a storyteller, he makes his stories like works of art. When I say work of art, it means his stories are expressions of creative skills and imagination. There is always an underlying lesson in each story meant to be appreciated for its emotional impact on the readers. It doesn't matter if its gritty, intense, mellow, sexy, vulgar or downright violent... you will close the book not only satisfied but there are learnings tucked under your belt. The discovery and development of each character is done in effortless fashion.

Blurred Lines is no exception. Yes, there was a story, a great story. But there were even greater lessons to be learned. They were incorporated in the story so flawlessly that it didn't seem forced.

Blake and Riley were two flawed individuals who were taking steps to better themselves, to learn from their mistakes and to rise up from their tragic past. In my opinion, they were the most organic characters Scott has ever created. As a reader, you will feel like you are learning along with them and taking something from the author's thoughtful insights about life. It almost felt like the story was just an icing on the cake. Almost. It was a great story, no doubt, but the learnings of what goes on in human minds was the best part of this book.

After so many books, Scott still managed to take me by surprise ( and I believe he will continue to do so). The twist/revelation about Blake halfway in the book? I seriously didn't see that coming, never even considered it.

Blurred lines showed the difference between reality and perceived facts.

Sometimes, life is so much like coloring. You can follow the outline and you will create a cohesive, clean and orderly artwork. But it is when you brave the unconventional, breach the blurred lines and color outside the limits that you can create the best artwork you can ever have.

Who else can explain the story best but the great mind behind this book:

“To recognize darkness as being so, we must have an understanding of what is light. To truly comprehend goodness, an understanding of what we believe to be evil is necessary.”

Thank you once again, Scott, for this wonderful journey with Blake and Riley.
And for the free therapy/counseling that each of your work provides :-)
It truly feels like I have a better understanding of people and life in general each time I finish your book.

"Life isn't black and white. It's a million gray areas, don't you find?" ~ Ridley Scott

Let's face it, it's in those grey areas most often where life takes place. It's how we navigate those areas that determine exactly where our story or our journey will end. Blake West and Riley Campbell have both lived a life of circumstances that have colored their respective outlooks and perceptions of reality. They are both broken and damaged, and living life having traveled a nuanced terrain. These characters both believe they must control their environments in order to manipulate their situations to receive their desired outcomes. Is it an accident or is it fate that they find one another?

Blurred Lines is an amazing story about the struggles of addictions versus indifferences, conscience versus actions, and reality versus self imposed limitations. Blake and Riley have to learn to love themselves and let go of the past before they can learn to love one another. They must recognize that the little things can have a huge impact on healing paths.

In a book riddled with double entendre's Scott Hildreth does an impeccable job leaving the decision up to the reader and perfectly blurring the lines between perceived fact versus reality (be it the characters or the readers). Sometimes we have to color outside the lines to see the bigger picture. Sometimes we need "Blurred Lines" to understand the road that we are meant to travel.

We have to realize to let go and let be, to see beyond the veil and acknowledge the beauty in front of us.

So I was thinking about this book and what I was thinking was, I should wait until morning to write my review...but I need to do it now while it's fresh in my head.
As everyone knows, I think Scott Hildreth is a genius. I adore his writing, his writing style and well, him as a writer. Every book he writes gets even better every single time! This book was no surprise to me at how exceptional it is. I loved it. This book is good old fashion Scott Hildreth. This book is what I loved about Scott Hildreth's writing from the very beginning. This book is exactly why I fell in love with the writings of Scott Hildreth. From every book of SH's that I have read, I ALWAYS take away some sort of life lesson. This book? It's simple...Happenstance.
I believe in happenstance. I believe this is what this book is all about. Everything that happened to Blake in his life and everything that has happened in Riley's, it brought them together. It brought them to where they end up. I loved this love story. I loved the trials along the way. I absolutely loved that this book wasn't all about sex. It was about ordinary people leading ordinary lives. It was about how they found each other and waited for one another, and excepted one another for who they are.
I am really hoping that Stevie gets her own book next! We all love a hard ass!
As usual Mr. Hildreth, I don't know how you keep doing it, but once again...thank you for sharing your masterpiece with us. I loved it!

I can't read anymore... DNF at 73%... I hate to leave negative reviews so all I will say is..... Ummmmm....NO.
This was painful, written by a man and in no way meant for THIS female.
For me it was so- simple, non emotional, just.... Clearly written from a mans perspective of what women want?? I don't know but it was just awful for me.
Who talks the way these people do- especially the females?? It was like non stop cliche locker room talk and nothing was sexy about it AT ALL.
I absolutely love a filthy talking man, and "fuck" is like second nature for me to say- I am no prude, but I couldn't even almost attach to these characters. I def couldn't find anything deep, developed or emotional about them.
I'm sorry :( the blurb sounded perfect but.... NO

I have absolutely no clue how to rate this book. I think I'm in the minority about this book.

The first quarter of this book was very confusing to me. I kept on having to go back and re-read parts as the conversation flow was awkward. Some plot points were not necessary to the story arc or were just left open. Example: Riley's ex and Blakes ex-employee. Since we had to endure Blake's trauma as a child, I would like as a reader to experience his revenge. Riley I didn't feel grew as a person at all in this book. She left her contolling, abusive ex after he beat her. She took the car and kept thier joint account. He leaves her alone? That whole story line to me as a reader just wasn't realistic. Riley then meets Blake and he & his tatoo shop are pretty much her whole life. Still no job, not looking for a job, doesn't contrubute to the tatoo shop, just hangs around.
I found Blake very confusing but a loveable character once you understand some parts of the story weren't "true".

Maybe after stewing on this for a few days my rating will change. As of now, in my opinion there was just more wrong with this story then right.

This book....Sigh...
I went into this book with only the overview Scott provided, expecting this to be a lot like some of his prior books: filled with sex, action, a love story, etc. However, when he says a book is "unlike anything he's written before", one should take him at his word. The story is fantastic! The characters are deep, the story sucks you in from word one, and the way their pasts intersect is just so...intriguing! And OMG, the FEELS!! Hildreth makes you feel for these characters probably more than any others he's written. This book is definitely a roller coaster ride you won't want to put down once you pick it up. Excellent work, as always, but he's truly outdone himself, in my opinion. Can't wait for Bodies Ink and Steel book 2!

We are only as sick as our secrets. That is the phrase that I am starting this review with. It is no secret I enjoy that Mr. Hildreth creates stories that make me think, this one, WOW!!! My head is still trying to take it all in. Blurred Lines by Scott Hildreth was a novel like no other Hildreth novel I have read. I read this book over the course of 3 days and I will tell you right now this review will not be able to express all of what I personally took away from this novel. The growth I felt that these characters exhibited was mainly due to their willingness to be honest with those around them and more importantly with themselves. To see the world as it is, plain and simple. To accept what was, as fact, and to move forward, never persecuting themselves.

The story starts with Riley Campbell a 21-year-old girl looking at life in “do-over” mode. This character is ready to live life honestly for herself, and is discovering for the first time what that might require. In this story I love how Riley came into her own. She traded her rationalizations and delusions for honesty and reality. She did this with kindness and an open mind. Let’s just say she pulled up her big girl panties and burned her victim cape. Action was her key to happiness and she did what needed to be done.

Ok, the man of the hour, Blake West…. I need way more than an hour to discuss this character. He was a HOT crazy, dorky, funny, overthinking mess, and I can say that because I saw a lot of myself in this character. Honesty was very important to Blake. At the same time Blake is human and as humans we are not always honest with ourselves. Most of the times we are not even aware that we are justifying dishonest behavior, when we do this we blur the lines. He built his life as best he could and like a lot of us fear drove him to the places where he could not tell the truth from the false.

“My life had changed drastically. I had been living a life complicated with a combination of fact and fiction and lived somewhere in between in a world of uncertainty. Often incapable of separating what was genuine from what was contrived; my mind resided in limbo.” ~Blake

Until the pain became more difficult than the change, at which time he faced it, and let it go. I loved this character I have a million questions for him. (LOL—you think he would answer my annoying questions if I sat in his 1930’s Ritter chair and let him give me my first tattoo while we chatted???)

In true Hildreth fashion the auxiliary characters are the glue that holds the story together, they were hilarious and I can not wait to meet them again, maybe in an up coming book. At the same time we are visited by old friends and are giving several more glimpses of who they are, which for this reader is a wonderful treat.

In the end this couple worked because, -- oh wait, I will let Blake explain,

“Riley’s acknowledgement of it, her acceptance of me, and the strange bond we developed as a result of out similar losses….. allowed us to be open and honest with each other completely. I felt as if I could be not only honest with her, but for the first time in my life, I was able to be honest with myself.” ~Blake

Acceptance is the key…. Hmmmm, where have I heard that before? *wink* This couple came to realize that acceptance does not mean that you have to like what was put in front of you. The happiness comes when you are honest with yourself on what was your part and then if needed let it go and move on. Blake and Riley honestly dealt with their past to improve their present and have hope for the future. Well Done Mr. Hildreth…. That is it, that is all I got….

I love when I'm reading a book that not only surprises me because it's not what I expected, but also keeps me on my reading toes by throwing in some twists that I didn't see coming. Scott Hildreth's new book, blurred LINES does this perfectly. It's a wonderfully written story that is sweet, endearing, sexy, and erotic, mixed with dark elements all at the same time.

Blake and Riley meet at a time in their lives after they each went through a significant change. Riley, is starting a new chapter and wants get a tattoo to mark the occasion. When she enters the tattoo parlor she is surprised that Blake is nothing what she thought. He's this handsome yet boyish featured man who might be what she is looking for. Blake is taken with Riley almost immediately. She is the type of girl that he can't resist. There is something about her though that makes things different for Blake.

For me, what makes blurred LINES a story worth reading is that the relationship between Blake and Riley is not rushed. It unfolds in this organic way and reveals the multiple layers of the both of them. Blake is a character who likes to analyze the situation in hopes of approaching it with the best possible outcome. He has his quirks that is hard not to find cute, making you fall in love with him a little bit more on each page. Riley, is a force. She is living life not in a bubble for the first time and Blake is this enigmatic man that she loves spending time with. She's this guiding force for the both of them that plays out so well in this story, you will absolutely love them. You'll be waiting to turn the page to see what happens next. blurred LINES is setting the bar high for Scott Hildreth's new series, I can't wait to see where it takes it. If blurred LINES is any indication it's going to be a good one.

Scott Hildreth is a one-click author for me. I have read just about everything he has written. His latest book came out of nowhere for readers. I think we were expecting more of his MC series. But, when the voices in his head demand to be heard, the man writes! Blurred Lines in the first in a series about a tattoo shop. The Bodies, Ink and Steel series is loosely linked to the Selected Sinners MC. We see some familiar faces pop-up in this book.

We meet Blake West, the mysterious, sexy, tatted owner of Blurred Lines. As the universe sometimes does, fates collide and Riley Campbell awkwardly stubbles into his shop and pushes her way into his heart.

Yep. So that’s about all you’re getting from this review. I’m not sharing more details because the reader just needs to take part in the wordsmithing that is Scott Hildreth. I know I have said this before, but this man can dig deep and give the reader such thoughtful insight in the human psyche. I felt all of those emotions and demons Blake struggled with. This is a book that begs to be re-read. Now that I know the outcome, I need to go back and see if the groundwork laid by the author would have led me to the same conclusion.

Blurred Lines is listed as a romance. There are romantic elements but the book is truly about the evolution of a man. Riley really is a supporting character although she is the catalyst for change. It truly is a testament to the healing power of love. Riley’s love brings the light.

Blake’s words: “To recognize darkness as being so, we must have as understanding of what is light. To truly comprehend goodness, an understanding of what we believe to be evil is necessary.”

Standing ovation for this one, Mr. Hildreth! Thank you bringing me, the humble reader, the experience of seeing the human mind and all of its intricacies pouring out in words across the page.

Here we are again. I just finished yet another book from Scott Hildreth and I'm sitting here like a fool with a huge grin on my face. I'm continually floored at this author's capability to create new characters that I completely fall for each and every time. Tough guys that somehow worm their way into my heart and leave an indelible mark.

What I think I adore most about Blurred Lines is the underlying simplicity of the story: the blossoming love between Blake and Riley. He is the seemingly typical tattoo artist and she is the woman who has escaped a violent lover and wants a new start. Their first encounter was nothing out of the ordinary but you just knew that the seed had been planted and that they just had to become more. I was curious as to how the author would make it his own and not just the same old story about a bad boy and the girl who wants to win his heart. And when I got to about the 60% mark, THAT is when the book took a particularly wild twist and right then and there I just knew this one would become another favorite of mine.

With the addition of familiar members of the Selected Sinners as a very unexpected surprise and a smart-mouthed and crazy fellow artist in Stevie, this book, again, kept me glued to my e-reader. I did not know how it would all play out since secrets revealed throughout this journey were some of the most unusual I've ever read. Yet it all fit together so perfectly. The author has developed such a unique style for giving us a tale that is full of heart while at the same time is never, ever sappy. The right mix of soul and bravado. Heartache and hope. Tough and tender. The best recipe for a happy reader.

If you are looking for a book that can combine humor, passion, heartache and love flawlessly, then this one is for you. As a matter of fact, if this is your first from the author, you'll want to read about those Sinners who pay our couple a visit and their own quests for happiness. All standalones and all just as wonderful.

Another job well done.

5 solid stars!

NEVERMIND - SCRATCH THAT....

It's TOTALLY like this author to amaze and astound me with each book. NEVER is any of the books like the other...and blurred LINES proves to be VERY different.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! (you know, I think I say that about every book I have read of his...but anyway, onto my review!)

I was expecting this to be crazy, sexy, over-the-top, and fun to read...what I didn't expect was that it was all of that, and so, so, so, so, sooooo MUCH MORE! The story line leads you one way, and then before you realize that your totally on board this crazy train....it jumps the tracks and flips some switches, all of a sudden your racing down this track, eyes wide open, heart beat ringing in your ears, your emotions running in a hundred different directions, and having the most euphoric book-gasam EVER!! I was turned on, laughing my hiney off, cringing in empathy, shocked to my core, falling in love, feeding off strength, and ultimately falling bat-sh*t-crazy in love with this story!!

I love that you see some characters from his other books in this and how it's like 9 degrees of separation, but everyone is somehow connected. I FELT and still FEEL like these characters are REAL people and I am just an interloper watching their lives go by. It comes off as a feeling of closeness to them that you can relate to.

The morals you walk away with learning are so profound you feel like your heart just gets fuller as you follow the journey.

This book has taken the top spot for me as my favorite Hildreth book...and that is saying a lot, because for years it had been Alpha-bet because, well, Christy Cross is just boss!!

BUT and I mean a very sexy BUTT!!...Riley stole my heart along with Blake, they are amazing and you can't help but love everything about them, from their vulnerability to their strength, they are PERFECT for each other.

It's always difficult to me writing reviews. Specially reviews of Scott's books because I always leave something behind. Not because I forget, but because after reading his books, my mind is blurred. There, said it!
Scott's books have the power of making me feel almost dazed, like "wtf have I read" good.
Always with a message in it - always, his writing is deep, is truthful and the power he has to make sore subjects come alive without damage you but alerting you to the fact they exist, always blow my mind!

Blurred Lines is a story about heartbreak, loss, self discover, lust and love. And tattoos, can't forget the tattoos, colorful and meaningful as life should always be.

In this book, you get to know Blake. Blake is a tattoo shop owner and artist. He's covered in ink and with a very difficult past.
Riley is a young woman, sweet and strong, with more will to live her life than we could possible imagine, she's out of a abusive relationship for good. All she wants is to be happy and cross some items from her bucking list. Its tattoo time. That's how they met. That's what this story is about.
There's a twist in the story you cant predict, its truly a surprise. But a good surprise. Yes is a love story, not love at first sight, but about a love that builds within them, with lust, secrets and truths along. They were meant to be loved by each other.

Always a surprise, I loved to "see" again the Selected Sinners! Cant get enough of them! They blend in the story line like a glove.
And Stevie... LOL... cant wait to read her story, I just know she will have it! It's crazy, and I bet she will have a very enthralling one.

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!

This book was just the escape I needed today. I hit one-click on this so fast when I saw it had gone live. I don't regret it at all. Not one little bit! Scott Hildreth amazes me with these stories. I say this every time I read something by him lately but, damn, it's so true. He outdoes himself each time.

I absolutely love Blake and Riley. I was drawn into their story from word one and pulled into their world where I stayed until I read the last word. I don't think I've cried like this reading any other Scott Hildreth book. This was a beautiful, heart-wrenching story that has moved to the top of my favorite book of the year list. I am so reading this again and again.

Scott holds firm in his #1 spot on my favorite male authors list and is sneaking his way to my top 5 favorite authors.

Update on Review (10/15):
So I've read it a third time now and am just amazed how I can get so emotional in the same part every time I read it. I know what's coming but I still get that tightness in my chest and the tears flow. I finished reading about 4 hours ago and I'm still emotional.

Scott is most definitely in my Top 5. I very rarely re-read a book a second time, much less a third time and he had me re-reading Hung and Ex-Con as well. That's 3 books in a row that I've re-read!!!! There has only been one book that I've read more than twice so that just says it all!

Update 5/3:
I just listened to this audiobook and love this story even more. I still got so emotional at that pivotal point with Blake. I'll definitely listen to this one again!

I love Blurred Lines! I read this book in 7 OMG wonderful hours. In truth I wouldn’t have been able to put Blurred Lines down even if I had wanted to.

Now where do I start? This is Blake West & Riley Campbell’s story. And, what a story it was! Blake had a heartbreaking childhood and Riley was in an abusive marriage. There were some unexpected happenings which keeps the story fresh and Scott does a great job with his blurb so I don’t want to go any further. Just know that you need to read this book.

Blurred Lines is the first book in the series, it can be read as a standalone and does have an HEA thankfully!

Scott does give a little history of Tattoos which I very much appreciated. And, he is right once you get 1 tattoo you can’t stop at there. Tattoos are addicting.

There was a not so funny scene in the book but,Scott had me inappropriately laughing out loud. Something to do with bodily fluids. Ew! No I can’t say what but, believe me they deserved it.

Blurred Lines is actually a book that you won’t need to read any warnings before you start to read it. Other than what Scott Hildreth wrote at the bottom of his blurb.

Quote: “Blurred Lines is a Tattoo Romance that is a stand-alone erotic romance and the first book in the Bodies Ink and Steel series. It has an HEA, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship, and no sharing of partners.”

I loved this book and author!

This book by Scott was beautiful.

I say beautiful because it was just that. I loved reading this book. At parts it seemed as poetry, and overall it was so well written I couldn't put it down (well between class work :( ).

I loved the romance in this story between Riley and Blake.

As this is an erotic romance, there was not much sex. (Really, only around 3 scenes!) BUT, I totally understand why that was. As Scott said during this past Shh ISCDEC, Scott informed us how the sex corresponds with the story and the characters. And I completely agree with him. In Blake and Riley's story, I could see the growth in there relationship first before I saw any sexual acts performed. I've read that many people think the sex is lacking, but sorry to break it to ya, maybe it's just not a number one thing that the characters did 24/7! ~Shoutout to Scott H. for expressing this to us Shhsisters ;D

I loved this book overall for the romance portrayed in the novel. I give this one 4.5 stars!

Not everything is at appears

Blake surprised me. I was caught off guard by him for many reasons. He was hard to get to know, cut off from letting me in...but as I read the book I knew that is exactly how Scott Hildreth wanted me to see him. Riley is just as broken in her own way and I loved her ability to accept things and move on. Family does that. This book is an amazing read. As I always, I was intrigued and amazed and sad it ended. Not every one is as they appear. Be kind. Beautiful story.

I love more than anything a good story where the hero and heroine both overcome tragedy and become stronger as the story goes on. Blake and Riley both come from loss. Riley had her mom while Blake had himself. The connection they share without even being aware brings them together.

Riley is hilarious and spunky as hell and her confidence grows with the story. Blake seems pretty badass but he's flawed. Riley helps heal his flaws.

The presence of some MC friends adds a very nice touch as well

OMG, he did it again!

I was so excited about this book as I have only discovered this author about 6 months ago and have since read all of his books as fast as I could get through them. I was not disappointed. I cried for this sweet couple who went through so much and somehow found each other. I was also very excited to see the new characters we were introduced too as well as the ones I have come to hold close to my heart . Very well done, Mr. Hildreth!

Blurred Lines (Bodies Ink & Steel #1)
By: Scott Hildreth
5/5 stars

Riley Campbell is a survivor in the game of life. She tragically lost her father and grew up the only child in single parent home. This always left her feeling in the need of attention, especially from older men. This led her to an unhealthy relationship with a man 9 years her senior. She was taken care of financially, given gifts, a car & a bank account. She was protected, given love & affection, but she also paid a hefty price for what she was given. But in reality he was more controlling than protective. She was abused physically for years, which most of the time damages a person psychologically. But she escaped and she survived and she is moving on with her life. To mark her new start, she decides to get a tattoo, and there, she meets Blake.

Blake West owns the tattoo shop, Blurred Lines, is a tattoo artist himself and is covered in tattoos. Blake has a tragic childhood, and lost his parents horrifically at a young age. Since then, he’d been adrift, lost. He became an addict, mainly of sex & alcohol. But after 3 DUIs, a loss of driving privileges for nearly a decade and one particularly drunken night, where he didn’t recall anything, he decided to give up drinking. He just recently decided to give up another addiction, sex. His abstaining will be put to test when Riley, the girl next door type, comes to his shop.

Blake and Riley were on missions to find themselves, and were working through their own goals and feelings when they met each other. Riley quickly becomes addicted to the hypnotic state of being tattooed, being with Blake and being at the shop. Blake also becomes addicted to Riley, but in a much healthier sense than his other addictions. They have a steamy and passionate relationship that isn’t built on sex alone. They also have bumps along the way and weather a storm from the past that ties them together.

I loved seeing Scott’s personal knowledge about tattoos come through in this book. Scott has many great pieces and is extremely well-acquainted with not only procedures, but also history and meanings behind tattoos, and that really showed through in this book.

This is a standalone start to the new series, Bodies Ink & Steel, which is based in the location of Wichita, Kansas. It is geographically near Winfield, KS, which is where the Selected Sinners MC series is based out of. So there are some of the MC characters who may make an appearance in this series. But Scott does a great job keeping readers in the loop, so that they don’t have to read all of the previous series. Hopefully we’ll see some more crossovers. I absolutely loved Blake and Riley as main characters and want to see more of them!! There were some pretty crazy, but cool secondary characters that brought a lot to the table and I am excited to see where Scott takes this series.

5 Stars!

Intense. Compassionate. Complex. Deep. Emotional. Real. Erotic.

I am in awe of this author. I mean he gave us his amazing fighter romances then blended over to his MC romance and honestly I wasn't sure if he could get any higher after those amazing books but once again this author has proved me wrong. This book and new series is SO different than anything I have ever read by him. Sure it has some of his loyal ways in writing (standalone, no cheating, etc...) but fans of this author are in for a treat. This book was a fast read and definitely going down as a favorite.

This book was absolutely amazing. When I decided to read this book, I went in blind with no synopsis and only a handful of teasers. And I am here to tell you that it blew me out of the water. This book was edgy, sexy, sweet, fun, intense, raw, real, and left me smiling at the end and demanding the author give me more. This book was a breath of fresh air, limited drama with a budding romance that has quite a few twists and turns along the way to keep you hanging on until the very last word.

This is Blake and Riley's story. Starting off with a bang, this author introduces us to two very complex characters. Blake is a tattoo artist and recovering addict. Riley is a young girl learning about independence and how to live life away from her ex's controlling and abusive ways. When their paths cross, it will set off a string of events that will forever change these two. Do you believe in fate? What about happenstance? This book and their story will make you a believer. This book is about learning to live, embracing love, healing our mind and souls, and finding our happy ending.

I loved Blake. From the beginning, he pulled me to him with his no nonsense ways and internal thoughts. Blake was always struggling in his mind, trying to find the right way and not fall into temptation. I loved how he over-thought everything and always put his best foot forward, giving it his all. I also loved Riley. She was fun, sweet, and I loved how she didn't let life get her down when it totally could have. I was rooting for these two and I am hoping Stevie gets her own book next!

I highly recommend this book!
