Midnight's Knight

Rate this book
Hundreds of years before mortal Tess O'Connor comes to Queen Mab's Court, a page and a squire train to become Unseelie Knights, becoming entangled in forbidden romances, Court intrigues, and the events that will ultimately spark the greatest war their world has ever known.

Handsome Finnead has no family name or titles, but his skill with a sword sets him on the path to becoming one of the Queen's most favored young Knights. Precocious Ramel has a quick wit and starts trouble more often than he should, but he's convinced that he will become Finnead's squire and help the young Knight on his way to glory in the Court. Lady Rye wishes she could return to the North to train with the wolf-warriors, but refusal from the Queen to grant her freedom means that she serves as one of the Princess' ladies. And Princess Andraste desires nothing more than to learn how to fight and defy the expectations of a well-bred lady, much less the heir to the throne.

Follow both beloved and new characters from the acclaimed Fae War Chronicles as they discover their destiny within the Court and within their world as darkness begins to rise and they are forced to choose their sides in a battle that brings to an end the Golden Age of the Unseelie Court.

the same world as book 1… and yet it isn’t.

Queen Mab & her sister still feature in this book, but events that happened in The Druids Daughter… didn’t?

It’s a deep dive into the Unseelie court & it’s knights. There are mentions of the White City & The Bearer, but they never show up. Races that appeared at the solstice celebration in book 1, are merely myth in this one.

It feels true to the unseelie in that emotions are kept under tight reign, but the main characters are even more tightly held than those around them. We often don’t see the growth, merely the outcome.

There is death. There is love. There is a high emphasis on honor & valor (they are knights, after all). The whole book feels many times like a very high level overview of their world, with occasional deeper glimpses into the lives of 2 ‘young’ men training to become knights.

I’m hoping the next book ties these stories together & that this was the backstory for men that will have a strong place. I look forward to seeing how the 2 stories will be tied together.

So freaking fantastic! This was the best book in the series so far, but it made me want to go back and re-read the first 4 again. I hadn't fallen in love with characters in a long time before this series. I didn't think I could love Ramel any more than I already did, but I adore him even more. I've had mixed feelings about Finnead, but this gives so much more understanding to who he is and why he is the way he is. Oh, and Rye, what can I say? Thank you so much for writing such a brilliant female character. I felt so much emotion reading this book! I first cried with pride as Finn completed the gauntlet, then cried so many more times for love, hurt, pain, and probably more emotions that I can describe. Brilliant writing. Simply, freaking brilliant!

Another great book by Jocelyn Fox

For fans of the Fae War Chronicles thus is a must read. Written as an origin story for key characters and answers a lot of questions fans might have after reading the first books in this series. If you aren't a fan yet I suggest the books in this series to those who really enjoy a good heroin tale packed with action, romance, battles and magic! Jocelyn Fox is one of the best authors I have come across in a while!! Enjoy

Cheap book

Just spouting out a repeat of what you already wrote with zero added is cheap what just so you can write a torture scene. Just a bunch of verbal garbage with no imagination I would not be so harsh but that you cheaper yourself with writing a torture scene to get ratings I deployed

An Adventure f the Unselies

Finn is a knight of Queen Mog. He train apage and then takes him as a squire. They become very close. The Queen's sister falls in love with Finn and he trains her. Dark monsters are taking over their forest. What will happen next?

A prequel

This story is a prequel going backwards in Finnead's life to explain so much. Kept my attention all the way.
