He calls me Beauty... Bear Dalton is a dangerous man. His wealth, power, and confidence are overwhelming. And his dominance is intoxicating. My innocence drives him wild, and my willingness to submit to his dark desires fans the flames higher. I am his Beauty ... He is my Beast ... He will take me... He will claim me... He will own me... This is our story.
Taking Beauty is book 1 of the Taking Beauty Trilogy.
But when the guy named BEAR (???!!!) is a CEO billionaire who pursuades his employee's daughter to join her mother ( to actually relocate to another city cause her mommy wants her there, note: the daughter is 26 years old *raises her eyebrow* ) by fucking her bare at this dinner they have after they just met!!!!
The fuck?! The actual fuck?!
And of course, she's stunned by his cock so she accepts...
The Hero is a manipulative, abusive son of a bitch who uses the heroine for sex and completely disregard her feelings. He's a dominant but apparently doesn't care for aftercare. Oh and he also rapes the heroine.
The book blurb says Bear is dangerous-and he is-but not how you’d expect. His character isn't a hitman or mob enforcer, and what makes him a danger to Chloe isn't crime related. It's personal. Bear can flip from a charming, respectable CEO to a raw, rough, beast of a man who unleashes in bed (or on the observation deck of the Empire State Building or a snowy hiking trail).
Bear's overwhelming presence and forceful personality leave Chloe wondering who she is and where she belongs, but his brutal dominance makes her feel a kind of freedom she’s never had before.
The sex scenes are hot and dirty. He’s domineering and demanding without getting bogged down in the minutia of BDSM. I hope Chloe’s discovery of Bear’s well-stocked penthouse dungeon doesn’t mean the rest of the series will follow the usual rigid BDSM playbook.
Their emotional final scene feels a bit sudden, but Bear is nothing if not decisive. This book isn’t dark, but based on its stunning cliffhanger, the rest of the trilogy might have some dark moments. I was given an Advance Reader Copy.
I feel like Chloe is accepting a little too much. Plus, she's 26, why is her mom so protective, like saying she has to love with her and live with her? I want to see how it ends.
I could not get past the hero's name...'Bear'. While I normally do not mind insta-love stories, this was insta-insta and both the hero and heroine got on my last nerves. Oh well...can't love them all. On to the next good read!!
Bear Dalton is a hard man, he is also a billionaire and her mother's boss. The 3 of them were having lunch, her mother had invited her saying she had "exciting news", Bear was there too. Her news was she'd gotten a promotion, Chief Financial Officer, but they'd have to move from Portland to New York. They lived separately in their own apartments, Chloe had her life as she wanted, she too bad plans, as a dress designer. So she told her she was staying put, when told she WAS going she said no and walked away. She was closely followed by Bear, said he needed to talk to her, so she followed him, they went into a private room. He missed her, she slapped him, then they "talked" and he said she would work for him. She found herself agreeing to go. This is a fantastic book, I really enjoyed it, if you enjoy your romance with a little/lot of dark added, you will too. One thing, you'll need to buy all 3, this book ends with one hell of a cliffhanger Sue P
So this story ends at 18%. With a cliffhanger. Which I guess wasn't surprising to me.
This story was good but a few things annoyed me. **Spoilers** all Chloe's friends are warning her about how her dumb ex is threatening to find her. Partying in social that he's coming, acting totally stalker like. But she never tells Bear she never takes it seriously. Also, Bear sometimes was cold to her. After sex he'd turn away, blow her off for work after a particularly intense sex romp...the scene the top off the empire State bldg? Nope. Just nope. He was drinking so much and not even caring about her. He was being so selfish not thinking about her at all.
But damn I LOVED when she used her safe word. Have him a reality check right away. If the next installment cost $ I don't think I would buy it. Thank goodness it's KU.. So I will move on with the series.
I'm only 7% into this book and unfortunately I've skimmed most of what I've read because it's just not very original or very good. Also, I've never read a book with so many exclamation points placed in the dialogue. At first I thought the editing had just been poor and they were a mistake, but now I'm sure, they were all very much placed in on purpose. Maybe one or two out of the dozens so far have actually been used appropriately in a way that makes sense. The rest...well just don't make sense. Probably am not going to finish this one.
I did enjoy this story, but I will say it ended at 18% with the rest betting bonus content. Bear doesn't strike me as being much of a Dom. I mean yes he likes BDSM like themes (not to give anything away) but then he plays with drunk which just wouldn't happen. I mean it's no wonder Chloe can't figure out what's going on because as a read neither can I. However, if you don't think to much info the plot or story line it's a hot short read!
4 stars Billionaire Bear is a dominant, does whatever he wants and he wants Chloe (Beauty or Good girl) and he gets what he wants. This is not a story that will be all hearts and roses. This is one with triggers and equal to, 50 Shades, in comparison. The Prologue lays the story line out with, Bear having a meeting with Matilda, Chloes' mother and Chloe at a restaurant. Matilda is telling Chloe that she (who is 26 y/o) will love moving to NY. Chloe is telling her she is not moving to NY. Chloe leaves the table and Bear follows taking her to a private dining room where he convinces her to NY, by demonstrating his ability to make her by f$$king her until she agrees. He tells Matilda that Chloe is coming to NY and giving her a job. They move into separate apt. in different buildings and Bear proceeds to show her a good f$$king, in hers, then tells her to come to the office for her job in the morning. Bear, is pure dom and Chloe, is very much a quick learner for submission. If you want f$$king this is the book.
A great beginning to Nikki Wild's "Taking Beauty Trilogy". The billionaire boss Bear and the young fashion designer Chloe who Bear either calls "Beauty" or "Good Girl" depending on the occasion are in a complicated relationship exploring Chloe's sexual limits. She is young and open minded so the sky is the limit. It doesn't take Bear long to figure out that "Good Girl" is his future and he will do what it takes to make her happy and fulfilled both in and out of the bedroom.
This first book is like Fifty Shades on steroids. The sex scenes are hotter and wilder and after reading the sample of "Chasing Beauty" the next book in the series the scenes are just going to continue to to heat up even more. I can only imagine the heat level in book 3. If you are looking for a book to scorch the pages of your Kindle this is the book.
I feel privileged to to have the opportunity to review an Advance Reader Copy provided by the author.
O.M.G.....What a ride. Straight out of the gate, no messing around. Very 50 Shades like. He is gorgeous, rich, moody, likes to be in charge and is her mom's boss! She's 26 and intrigued by him but new to his lifestyle choices. It's a journey that kept me page turning until the wee hours. Great book but beware you're gonna want the second book immediately.
Nikki, Nikki, Nikki How could you end book 1 that way. I love the first book in this series it keeps you in suspense the whole time reading and wondering what is going to happen between Chloe and Bear. Love how they are able to bring the best out of each other. Can't wait to read more.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
What a whirlwind!!! What a storm of a story!!!! Its a bit edgy, sexy and dark! Chloe doesn't seem to confident with herself, Bear seems to be an alpha dominant! What will happen next???
