Folk in Cornwall: Music & Musicians of the Sixties Revival

Rate this book
In the early 60s teenage beatniks from around Britain, including Wizz Jones, Clive Palmer, Long John Baldry and Donovan, hitched to the seaside towns of Cornwall where they slept on the beaches. Although initially reviled audiences flocked to see them play in the folk clubs that opened in the mid sixties. These Cornish clubs also played a crucial role in launching the careers of Ralph McTell, Michael Chapman, COB and Brenda Wootton as well as many others.

The sub-title of this book is - music and musicians of the sixties revival. It's a fascinating account of musicians based in Cornwall in the 1960s and 1970s. I am a fan of Clive Palmer's music so I was especially interested in the parts of the book which mentioned the various bands with which he was involved such as COB and the Famous Jug Band. The book also contains lots of photographs.
