"A bolt of lightning arced up from the cloud, and there was a brief ‘ooh’ from some of her fellow passengers, until it arched in the air and slammed into the wing. The wing splintered and burst into flame." Three months have passed since the storm brought humanity to its knees, and the fight for control has begun. Tom must protect his people from a new Government force, hell bent on rebuilding at any cost. Jen and her ward flee into the wilds to escape, only to find themselves running from a very different enemy. Burnett will take the fight to the heart of the new Government, in this thrilling sequel to Blood on the Motorway.
Paul Stephenson writes pulp fiction for the digital age. His first novel series – the apocalyptic Blood on the Motorway trilogy – has been an Amazon bestseller on both sides of the Atlantic. A former journalist, he has a diploma in Creative Writing from Oxford University.
His stories have been featured on the chart-topping horror podcasts, The Other Stories and The Night’s End. His newest project, the ebook serial The Sunset Chronicles, is a dystopian sci-fi thriller that will delight and terrify fans of science fiction and horror alike. He is also the creator of the upcoming podcast, Bleakwood, tales of terror from a mysterious English town, and one half of the All Creatives Now team, with fellow horror author, Kev Harrison.
He lives in England with his wife, two children, and one hellhound
This is a brilliant sequel to Blood on the Motorway. It is completely different from the norm; a very unusual theory as to why these particular survivors survived the apocalyptic event that ended the world, and so different to see who steps up to the plate to lead. The bad guys are power hungry and are willing to commit any atrocity to achieve that. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it, and even though you can read it as a stand alone novel, I would recommend that you read the first book of the trilogy Blood on the Motorway first - that way you get to know the characters more intimately, follow their trials and tribulations that get them to this point, and really see their growth or deterioration on their journey to survive.
Another easy and enjoyable read -- I was quite content to spend an afternoon and a pot of tea following the characters around my own part of the world, the North of England, as they struggled on with their post-apocalypse lives. I also like that there's a fair attempt at diversity when it comes to the characters and I'm looking forward to seeing how they all fair in the final part (the shipper in me has some wild hopes for two of them ...), though I fear a few at least won't make it to the end.
The second part to the Blood on the Motorway series, this book was very exciting with lots of gunplay and army men...Kind of. Back again are our heroes Tom, Jen, Susan, and the gang, along with a few new characters with backgrounds of their own. Even a double cross and our favorite gumshoe coming to terms with his inner demons.
This part is the most exciting yet, can't wait to read the third installment!
Just finished the second book in this series and getting ready to start the third book, A Final Storm. This book just keeps you glued to the pages. I highly recommend this series and this author. You won't be disappointed.
He has topped himself with this book that comes after Blood on the Motorway. Life only gets worse as different groups try to survive in a evil new world where Criminals become the Soldiers and are hunting you!
The middle child of this trilogy doesn't disappoint. Smooth world-building and loads of action. I didn't care one way or the other about Burnette in the first book, but he really came into being as a solid lead character here.
