When a team of serial snipers begin using their own personal brand of domestic terrorism, their first two victims are murdered right in front of the governor’s mansion. With no witnesses and very little evidence, it's up to Virgil to find out who is responsible for the mysterious killings. But when Virgil gets too close, the hunter becomes the hunted…

State Of Betrayal

Twenty years ago James Pope was shot to death in front of his twin children, Nicholas and Nichole, by a rookie cop named Virgil Jones. Now, as young adults, the Pope twins are looking for revenge against the man they hold responsible for the death of their father. Except twenty years is a long time and Virgil has a few other problems these days, the shooting of James Pope a distant memory. But when Nicholas Pope goes missing and his apartment is found covered in blood, his twin sister Nichole turns to the only person she can think of to help her, the one person who could never turn her away: Virgil Jones.

A rollicking pair of cop/buddy books

I got hooked on the first few pages and then-WHAMMO!! I couldn't put the 2 books down. Virgil is the golden haired boy but his weaknesses are all too human, Murton was a hoot and he had demons of his own to tackle but all in all you can picture them going through their ups and downs as they walk through the maze that is life. The ladies Sandy, Becky and Cora all hold there own and our Jamaican bartender-cook is absolutely adorable. Really well written and i could envisage and every character. The humour was so cool and the thread of the stories were quirky and fun to keep up with. I'm heading off th get Book 3....can't wait..

Suspense all the way

It started slow. It built slower yet but it never stopped growing and gripping the readers attention from beginning to end: suspense. Virgil Jones, his life and experiences were so real an so were the people on his life, family, friends, and his line of work. Some unnatural happennings just to give the story extra flavor. Yet, it was so real and touching, thanks Mr Scott. I just love it.

I've just read the first book, State of Anger, but I've got book 2 to read soon. I enjoyed how quickly I flew through the book. It's a book that was a good palette pleaser for me. It's not a heavy read but it was a fun mystery thriller.

Terrific!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first two books in this series, and am immediately starting the third! Well written an d easily visualized stories. Virgil reminds me of Spenser, Robert B Markers hero, just a little more earthy! Enjoy the read!

Intricate and devious

The author sometimes pushes too far to turn a catchy phrase, but if you're ever murdered, Jones is the detective you'd want investigating

Really good

The two stories were really great. The characters, especially the main character. He was flawed but that made him more likable.
