Waking up alone, scared, and hurt with no recollection of the last twelve hours could be a sick joke, but this is far worse than some twisted prank. Federal agent Alexis Parker can’t remember where she was or how she ended up unconscious outside a parking garage. The evidence found on her body is inconclusive. Was it an accident, or did she pass out drunk after a night of partying? The briefest flashes from her memory and the sudden uneasiness when in close proximity to others are the only indications that something sinister is brewing, but her colleagues won’t listen.
Just as Alex starts to doubt her conviction that this wasn’t an accident, she experiences an intensely vivid dream. Maybe there’s a reason she can’t remember those twelve hours. Maybe she needs to forget what happened. Afraid of what she knows and even more terrified of what she doesn’t, Alex embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind those missing hours, and may the consequences be damned.
Retracing her steps, Alex becomes embroiled in the most dangerous investigation of her career. The stakes have never been this high or the fear this overwhelming. While she struggles to carry out her duties and uphold the oath she took when she joined the Office of International Operations, she can’t deny that taking the easy way out has never held more appeal, especially when failure certainly means death.
The tenth installment of the series revitalizes the very essence of Alexis Parker and demonstrates precisely what makes her tick, promising plenty of action, suspense, and intrigue along the way.

Once again. she breaks the rules, but this time we see more human side of her... Can't wait for another novel of Alexis series hope there will be another... Eventually her relationship with Martin is moving too...
I love this series and this is the best book in the series so far. The book was full of suspense and also so emotional. I felt like I could really feel all of the feelings and emotions that Alexis was going through. I can't wait until the next book comes out.
It starts with Alexis lying injured, no memory of how she got there. Just tarmac, her phone rings, her partner traces her location & comes to her rescue. She can't remember why she was in that part of town, not her usual haunt. Something is off, she's scared - but doesn't know what of. Flashbacks don't make sense - plastic wrapped corpses, red glow, stainless Steel, torture. Her I. Ď. & gun are missing. They are found with the bodies of a detective & a C. I. both plastic wrapped. The last thing she remembered was checking out a Balkan terrorist organisation which was showing signs of activity, although small it was drawing attention. Foreign mercenaries, evil twins, massacre at a police station, a terrorist under her feet - literally. Add in a partner she doesn't trust, enough bs to drown in, tied up with departmental oneupmanship - just another week in the life of IOI Special Agent Alexis Parker. Another superb read from G. K. Parks.
This is one of the best books in this series. It's clouded with political intrigue with a terrorist cell takes action against law enforcement. Alex struggles with memory loss due to an assault by an unknown enemy. In her usual fashion, Alex steams forward at full speed trying to put the clues together. Martin continues to have her back, and the romance intensifies, despite him being accused of harassment. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crime novels spiced with a little romance.
I liked this one overall, but I was a bit frustrated with a few things. I was annoyed with how Alex won't accept where she lives now, and how it feels like we skipped a huge chunk of Martin's work problems. Then her job is even more crazy, and she's handling it in an odd way. I am looking forward to more.
I just love this series! I found book 1 in February & am now through book 10. Alexis Parker is a kick-ass federal agent that you can't help but like. Each adventure she embarks on reels you in & takes you for a great ride. If you like a good whodunit with a great cast of characters you will enjoy these books!!
It is beyond my imagination to even begin to think of how G.K.Parks mind is able to develop her characters so fully. I cannot fathom the intelligence and time required to write such complicated and fantastic books. If you like crime fiction, you will love this author and this book!
This book had lots of intrigue. The main character Alexis had a lot of baggage to overcome. Liked the r romantic thread and can't wait to read more from this author.
Alexis is partnered with Eddie Lucas on a mission to bring down a terrorist organization known as Shade. Through all of she saved the day. She and Martin are closer than ever and she's now out on medical leave.
I love this series the moment I finish one book I can’t wait to start the next. I’m gonna be disappointed. When I get to the end of the series and not have another book to read.
