Thank you to the awesome blogger Lacey from laceybooklovers
on IG for the book rec. It was because of her that I discovered this awesome author. ❤
This story is set in a post-apocalyptic future world that is known to have two dividing factions, known as the Liberated Army and the Corporate Army. Here we have Poppy Carvene, daughter of the great General Carvene and leader of the Liberated Army. Poppy is twenty-four years old and has to either be married by the age of twenty five or join the army, and with just a few short weeks from turning twenty-five her father takes it upon himself to plan an arranged marriage for his daughter. Poppy being the bad-ass heroine that she is, isn’t about to sign her life away by being married to a stranger, has decided to go behind her fathers back and join the Corporate Army, her father’s sworn enemies. This is where things get interesting!!!!! ;D
“Women should be able to marry whenever they want. And definitely not to someone their father picks for them.”
GODRIC
and OMG… Godric was just delicious, with his tall ‘domineering’ self and immaculate suits and bite marks!!! and well… I’ll leave the rest for you to read. 🙂
I snickered. “You’re adorable when you’re confused.”
“Am I?” he asked softly. He leaned forward just a touch, his heat enveloping my chilled frame. I shuddered in delight, and he smirked.
“I’m not confused by one fact.”
Always so arrogant.
“What’s that?” I lifted my red brows.
“That I want you near me.” This was not where I’d thought he was going with this flirty line of conversation.
I blinked in astonishment, and blabbered, “You can’t just say that to me.”
“Does that frighten you, pet?”
This book was a breath of fresh air. It was entertaining, fast paced, filled with magic and sexy scenes. I even found myself laughing at times. It had a clumsy, intelligent, bad-ass heroine and a Sexy God-like man that likes to call you ‘pet’ as a form of endearment. It was filled with secret shifters, and interesting characters.
The only small issue I came across with this book was when the characters were explaining about shifters and mates. I had to read that part a few times in order to really comprehend what they were saying and what it meant to be a mate to a shifter, but as I continued to read I was able to get the gist of what was said, but other than that this book was amazing. I seriously can’t wait to read more from this series and author.
I recommend!
“Do you want to know something?”
“I’m not sure.” I eyed him carefully. He smirked.
“I’m going to tell you anyway.”
“I thought you would.” Godric dipped his head down close to my face, his warm breath fanning over my lips. “You’re still going to fuck me again and again despite all your reservations.”
My snort was soft. “Why is that?”
“Because you want to. You want the right to choose your fate and who you are with. And you will choose me because you can’t seem to help yourself when you’re around me.” He leaned lower, pressing his mouth against mine, moving his lips against my lips while he spoke. “And I can’t seem to help myself either, even though you’re right. This is an extremely bad decision. And I still don’t give a fuck.”
