On the staircase, nothing is certain. Which way is up; which way is down; what is real, or what isn't. Everything is left open to interpretation. It's hard to figure out where you're going when you don't even know from where you're coming -- but that won't stop a happy-go-lucky teenager and a sullen child from doing their best to do so. When you're battling through hallucinations, warped perceptions, and loss of memory, what will you trust in -- yourself? The only other person you've ever known? How you feel? After all, what is truly real, and what isn't? And, at the end of the day... does it matter?
Readers should be aware that Edge contains mature elements and dark themes.

I'm not going to spoil anything. You don't deserve it. This book doesn't deserve that. It's dark and witty, often macabre as all hell.

I had the opportunity to look at early versions of it while the author was working on it, and it went through some interesting iterations to arrive where it's at.

It's a horrifying tale, when you get down to it. It can be confusing at times, but that's exactly what you're supposed to think. When the characters are confused, so are you. It pulls you in and keeps you in this bizarre and sorrowful world right until the end - and even then you're not sure you can really leave that world.

It's that kind of book, truly.

A simple tale set in a place that holds a staircase. You either go up or down or simply fall to your death. We follow two kids nicknamed Freckles and Screech and their journey on the staircase. I was slightly puzzled with the story at some points as we are given a little glimpse into Freckles life, then thrown back into the mystery of the staircase. I liked the idea of this story but was a bit disappointed at the end. I guess I was hoping for a different outcome. It’s still worth a read though. Reviewed by Jennifer

This book has a concept that belongs in The Twilight Zone, with a setting that reminds of Welcome to Night Vale, both of which combine to create something entirely unique. A simple idea is taken and turned into an odd, terrifying story that keeps you guessing and is absolutely worth the read.
