Rate this book

For the student of the monastic life or the lover of the middle ages, this is a truly fascinating text. With brief introduction by Saint Bernard and company to the ideology of the new knighthood, one finds a genuine piety in the text from the beginning. The further one reads in the rule, one follows the order as it evolves and all of the bumps and warts along the way. This is THE definitive text to describe the life, goals, and ideology of the warrior monk, with full effort directed to both the monastic and martial ends. Read the Rule of Saint Benedict beforehand, it will give you necessary context for this text.
