My daughter had this on her Halloween/spooky books shelf. She was interested in this idea, however was highly disappointed that there was no information on HOW they became ghosts.

Not for the spooky kiddos. Or any kiddo IMO.

Honestly this book is a mess. My guess is that the first draft was a story about a school that had no plot or point, and they became "ghosts" in the editing phase. These are not ghost girls, they are growing children with parents who eat, sleep, and wear trendy clothes. One also has a handbag collection but none of them wear shoes because then they could not pass through walls or doors.
