Her Dad's Best Friend #1

Working for Her Dad's Best Friend

Rate this book
I want to bend her over my desk and make her scream, but I shouldnt.

LINCOLN
I want my secretary. Those tight skirts she wears leave little to the imagination. I can see every luscious curve. She has the face of an angel and curves that could tempt a choirboy into sinning.
CAMILLA
I have a crush on my boss, who happens to be best friends with my dad. He’s stern and bossy, with a handful of silver streaks in his hair. Gorgeous, yes, but also demanding as hell. Strict but fair. One day, he asks me to come in his office. And lock the door.

I am always annoyed by poor editing. In one chapter, our young floosie enters her boss's office in pants and leaves in a skirt. In another chapter she has ''a sex'' with him. I know these are small things...... The story is so unbelievable that I couldn't believe that someone actually published it. The quality of the writing was at the level of the website Literotica.com. All in all, a waste of two hours.

Short but good read

This was a good short read. The beginning is a little confusing with them continually having (dreams, visions, letters) about wanting each other. But you can see that they both have had the hots for each other for several years. This is an older guy vs younger girl/daddy's best friend.
Overview. Camilla is 19 and in her second year of community college. During the summer, her dad had her work for his best friend Lincoln as his secretary while his secretary was on maturity leave. This is where the two fight their feels daily. But Lincoln refuses to touch her while under employment. But on her last day, she is given the opportunity to go the next step. But once Lincoln finds out she is a virgin, he stops. But the two can't keep fighting their feeling later that night when the 3 go to dinner. Jack, Camilla dad finds out and freaks. But Lincoln and Camilla decide they want each other. But Jack throws a kink in the fire in hopes of breaking the two apart.

What the actual hell is this.

Honestly this book was a shit show from start to finish. It took every romance book trope and threw it together in 200 pages with poor writing and no plot at all??? I have so many opinions that are all so bad. Like whom even approved this 🥴🥴 did the author even read it 🤦‍♀️

second review based on letting the book sit in my brain and when I am not exhausted typing on my phone lmfao:

Honestly, I love the idea of the book based on the title and I had a targeted ad on Facebook that seemed like this would be a good read, so I bought it. But in all honesty, I wish I didn't. This book was poorly edited and poorly written. It read like something a 12-year-old would write. There were so many grammatical errors and story errors (the main girl was wearing a skirt then suddenly pants). The author also seemed to take EVERY SINGLE romance book trope and throw it in to the story. Pregnancy Trope, forbidden lovers' trope, ex trying to get revenge, marriage, random things added in that were just unnecessary, sex from basically the first page and absolutely no plot??? The author also had the characters fantasizing about each other, which isn't bad and can be done exceptionally well but this was nowhere near exceptional, it didn't even touch good. Don't waste your time when there are FAR better books with this concept.

Just okay for me

This story was okay up until the last chapter, then it just sunk. I can understand the appeal of an older man but one that's old enough to be your own father just wasn't for me.

'Working for Her Dad's Best Friend' by Alyse Zaftig is the first book in her new series Dad's Best Friend and tells the story between Camilla, working a temp summer job before fall semester, and Lincoln, her father's best friend and her boss. Camilla was finding it hard working for Lincoln because he was so distracting due to his good looks and hard body. All Lincoln could think about was how sexy and cute Camilla was. Even though they are both attracted to each other they could not act because Lincoln was her father's best friend and Camilla was working for him. Will Lincoln and Camilla be able to withhold their attraction? What happens when Camilla is no longer working for Lincoln? What if Camilla's dad ever finds out that his best friend is lusting after his college age daughter?

Ms. Zaftig has kicked off her series with a fantastic story. Camilla and Lincoln's chemistry was sizzling. This story has drama, suspense, laughs, passion, family meddling, and plenty of steam. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of drama with their romance. I can not wait for the next book.

Camilla and Lincoln

This is a short, steamy read that is funny and a bit predictable in parts. Lincoln's emotional journey and dealing with his own past Is intriguing. Camilla's long-term desire for Lincoln is equally engaging as an emotional journey. There are parts with flashback that at times muddy up the emotional connection between the two. When Camilla and Lincoln do get together they are explosive with their chemistry. The steam factor alone is five stars. I think having a slightly longer book would capture even more of the intense emotions and chemistry that mark the romantic journey between Camilla and Lincoln. I could see this as a series. The secondary characters overall are okay. A few are absolutely amazing and so well-written that I hope they appear in future books. This was a page turner for half the book except the flashback chapters. I do understand the need to provide background for the reader; it was just the order that was a bit confusing for me as a reader.
Overall, I suggest bringing a fan because the steam is off the charts!

Not Very Good Reading . . .

Both Lincoln and Camilla have been interested in each other for years, although neither took any action to indicate that. But Lincoln needs a secretary when his regular secretary is out for maternity leave, so his best friend, Jack, recommended Camilla. She is basically handling his email, to sort out the junk from the mail he needs to see, but being this close to him is too difficult and just spurs on her fantasies.

When Lincoln decides to make his feelings known, everything comes to a halt when he finds she is a virgin. When Jack finds out about their interest in each other, he is furious. Will they proceed with a relationship anyway? Or will Jack’s sending her off to college stop any further action?

I don’t really like how this was written. The “tone” irritated me, the frequent fantasy thoughts were annoying (where I would have smacked the guy if he spoke to me that way in real life). Not at all romantic.

I saw it first on Radish but I've read only the first two chapters... I like it already. I know there will always be something to be said. I just wish that the book site should also help with review and edits before anything gets published. I would appreciate that too as a budding writer. Who doesn't want to be a seasoned writer? That's why I read and read a lot and listen to the best advice. I like one of my favorite author's advice, when he said, 'don't worry about the grammar and structure, write first, tell the story first -don't lose your story because you're worried about your grammar and all...

So, Alyse, all the best! I wish I could read the whole thing too......the start seduces the reader; they said it's short, I still don't know, but that means they wanted to read more of it...Kudos!

Camilla has been crushing on Linc since she can remember. Linc has definitely noticed that she is not a little girl anymore. He has been trying to resist her for years. Linc discovers emails Camilla wrote to her friend with her daily fantasy to her friend. He waits until her stint in working for her is over and makes his move. Her father is crazy mad about it. He sends Camilla off to college thinking that is enough to keep them apart. There are lots of little twists and turns in this story that make it a challenge for Linc and Camilla.

👫 Camilla & Lincoln

Utterly ridiculous.

Seriously, I honestly cannot explain how bonkers this book was??
The way the dad found out?? The whole restaurant scene?
The Ex showing up???

But MOSTLY,
NINETEEN YEAR OLDS GETTING PREGNANT IS NOT HOT.
Makes me SO freaking mad.

I mean this is not sexy: "Then I feel fire unleashed inside of my body. The feeling of his hot seed inside of my body and the thought of him getting pregnant make me orgasm again, my muscles pulsing around his cock."

I repeat, she is 19. NOPE!

What was a crush turned into an infatuation as Camilla grew older. Lincoln being around as Camilla growing up saw her grow into a beautiful woman. I'm not usually one that falls into the older man and younger woman genre, and I'll be honest it was hard getting past the fantasies when she was underage. Overall the writing was very good, transitions between present and fantasy engaging with a HEA. I will be more careful on my selection of reads as this was more a trigger for me than I would have thought.

This book is worth reading. If you like domineering men and a women who is out of bounds then this book is for you. Lincoln is the domineering boss who wants his secretary. She is his best friend's little girl. The attraction between the two is outrageous and off the charts hot. They can not stop their desire for each other even though it's taboo. But what will happen when Camilla's father finds out.read the book to find out.

So disappointed! The dreams and sex scenes had the potential of a great smutty story but it’s like the author cut out all the pieces with sexual tension, sneaking around, angst, the characters getting to experience each other and having feelings developed only leaving the sex scenes and a rushed plot that made the whole experience silly and not sexy at all. Rewrite it as a full length story, edit it and it could be fantastic! It has all the smuttiest ingredients with older rich man, young virgin, dominance, rough and dirty but respectful sex, tabu, betrayal and so on.

This is an OM/YW story with the family complications that have you wonder what is next. Lincoln's and Camilla's story is one with bump and turns that will have you lost in the pages. Camilla is helping Lincoln in his office, when Lincoln comes across her secrets, he makes takes a chance that may cause more harm before any good.

Lacks substance

The sex scenes are very hot, but the rest of it lacks substance and consistency. For example, in one scene Camilla started out wearing pants, then afterwards she was 'picking up her skirt.'

Hot, quick read, but definitely not worth the money, and I will probably avoid this author in future.

Gross, unbelievable and has me questioning my reading skills

WHAT the actual F did I just read?!?! God save your money and don't read this crap. I've read better stories on bar bathroom walls. Stupid, gross, unbelievable...an actual novel written out might have been acceptable but this crap just simply couldn't be worse!

The author has given us a wonderful older man/younger woman story that pulls us into the lives of Lincoln and Camilla. The have both been fantasizing about the other but since she is working for him, neither can make a move toward a relationship.

This story is a lot like other older men/younger women/and father's best friend. It did have some drama with an ex girlfriend showing up but it paned out that the kid wasn't his. Guy gets girl, have the baby, and daddy's ok since the kid has his name. Ugh I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m just saying that Camila has a lot of fantasies and all of them are unbelievably unbelievable. Lincoln is just as worse at playing out her fantasies. And their fantasies caused Jacky at the end and another on the way.

Story- 4/5 Too non believing
SMUT: um nearly every chapter, their is some ow drama but that’s quickly resolved. 4/5.

Meh. Short story, so it was a fast read. The premise was promising, but it was kind of juvenile. Insta-love, which I’m not against, but I wished it had been a little more detailed. The editing could have been better. Cute story, but wouldn’t read it again.

This short story is a poorly edited trainwreck.

The beginning of the story has steamy daydreams and emails that read like mini porn plots. The second half of the story where the characters "connect" is illogical.
