I never thought a rock star would want to show me his instrument. On my first date with Kai Jackson, the lead singer and guitarist of the Heartbreakers, I thought he was an ass. Arrogant, self-centered, and chauvinistic. I couldn't stand him. When he asked for another shot, I laughed at the idea—until I stupidly gave in. When he leaves his rock-star persona behind and shows me the real him, I find myself falling for him, and I’m scared. A former addict, he isn't exactly the type of guy you take home to your parents, and I wasn't sure I wanted to take that risk. But when you meet a guy who makes your heart skip a beat, all bets are off. That is, until a life-changing event blackens Kai, and his old vices become new realities that rip the fabric of our relationship. Shattered after visiting him on tour in Paris, I retreat to my home in Los Angeles, wishing I’d never met him. He goes to rehab, determined, convinced he'll get clean and win me back, but I'm not sure I can ever let my heart be his again. While this is an HEA no-cliffhanger romance, it features some darker themes, including addiction and drug use. This story contains alternating POVs by chapter.

1.5 Insipid stars

I'm sorry, but this has to be one of the blandest (is that even a word?) rock star romances I've ever read. I can't say it was bad, because I've read really bad ones but this was just completely insipid. The writing doesn't project emotion or feeling, the characters are completely flat and devoid of any substance. There's is absolutely no spark, no chemistry nothing. I honestly get more excited reading the morning news, that I got reading this book. I didn't feel any connection with either characters or story, even at the climax of the story. I didn't get emotionally invested, or even interested in what was happening, and I gave it my best try, I finished it even though I really wanted to quit.

I typically don't go for rock-star themed romances as I find they can be quite samey personally but having read some of M L Young's work previously I figured I would give it a go and I am glad i did.

Bianca and Kai both struggle with demons from their past and are drawn together despite initial meetings not going so well! Kai originally seems to believe his rock star persona is the way to get a girl but once he realises the only way to win Bianca, a girl who may just be the one, he begins to shed his rock -star persona, and really show Bianca the genuine Kai. Of course it would be too far easy for boy to meet girl, boy changes to get girl, HEA etc etc.

M L Young has touched on some dark elements of addiction and drug use in this book and after an event, Kai drifts back into a lifestyle he has fought to overcome. It's not until he realises the consequences of his slip back into the rock-star lifestyle that he begins his journey of recovery and the love story between Bianca and Kai begins to develop.

This book has many ups and downs (no pun intended) and M L Young tackles some serious issues. It's not a sweet romance book but a bumpy road that 'normal' people struggle with daily. I really enjoyed this book and am curious to see if M L Young carries this over into a series with some of the other characters mentioned getting stories of their own! A good story to read!

Kai and Bianca make an interesting combination. He is the typical rock star from an abusive upbringing. She is the dedicated student from a not so great upbringing. They get through a lot and it all ends well.

Amateurish

The writing is severely lacking. Very amateurish. Would benefit from some serious editing. Poor word choices at times, and even the wrong words at times. Leading the reader to believe the author didn’t know what it’s like really. And because of this it was hard to live in the moment with the the characters. Thus, taking away from the story. There is a HEA. But that’s the best I can say about his book.

Cute story

First off I was not sure what to get and this book popped out at me, I like that has the clichés and that is a really nice ending. I really enjoyed reading about how they built a relationship and everything that happened between them, and I also like how it wasn’t too over-the-top with his rehabilitation and her acceptance of him.

This was ridicolous. And soo unbeliveable poor written. No fantasy in the story, nothing new, and absolutely not enjoyable for me. I usually do not give poor comments just leave 1 star, but this book must come out with a warning. Just for age under 16 who belive in miracles.

Very good story

I loved the characters! And the fact that Kai relapsed and Bianca took him back after he went to rehab was really cool sometimes people have things happening in life that throws them but they can overcome their demons!

Rocked

A rock star love story showing characters with drug and alcohol abuse issues and how they dealt with it. Did love for one another help them overcome the issues? It was an interesting read.

I did not like it

I ended up skimming most of this book. Storyline was ok, although seemed completely unrealistic. Dialogue was stilted, characters remained one dimensional, Emotions were unrealistic. I would actively avoid further books by this author.

I picked this because the guitarist on the cover is a lefty. Sadly that never came up in the book. Instead we got groupies=sluts and a heroine who's "different" and "not that kind of girl". I hate books like that. The story was not very impressive either with lots of ridiculous events.

Rockstar

A lire different of a story. Kai seems sort of awkward for a rockstar. Not so alpha and blatantly sexy. Bianca isn’t all lusty for him. I still can’t see how she was ok so quick with it all but the still was good

So...he is high and drunk when he was with a hooker but according to everyone, including your bestfriend "it wasn't him" that cheated but the drugs and booze...WHAT THE WHAT? Knowing she was coming he still ran off to be with the hooker.

The book was OK but I won't be rereading.

Was pretty good!

I would have liked to hear more about the future how it worked out, etc.. It just kinda stopped with the end no epilogue.

Good solid book that I really enjoyed. The storyline was well thought out and the characters had depth, emotion and lots of chemistry. All in all a pretty solid read.

A little too sweet.

I liked the story, but it really comes off as too sweet. Its not the usual rock star romance. I think this is geared toward young adults.

Sweet

This is a sweet and short read. Kai is really a nice guy who did not have self control. Bianca deserves a better Kai and he became that for her.

Great

The story line kept the reader moving along and never stalled. It was a great quick read. It could have used a bit more spice.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I enjoyed reading this book. The book maybe fiction, but the storyline can be related to true-life situations and you will want to keep reading to find out what happened. When reading the story, it may make you feel sad, confused, appalled, and even euphoric. I loved the characters of Kai and Bianca. Kai is the lead singer and guitarist in a band who is arrogant, self-centered, and chauvinistic. Bianca is a college student and her best friend won tickets to the concert that Kai was playing, and she meets Kai after the performance. Bianca learns that Kai is a recovering addict, but she is willing to give him a chance. Kai and Bianca’s relationship is flourishing, so Bianca surprised Kai at one of his performances and she was hit with a bombshell. Bianca wondered if she could ever trust Kai again. This is a romance story where you see the progression of a budding romance. There are several twists and turns within the story that makes it interesting. This was an enjoyable book with an interesting plot and dialogue, and it keeps you reading to the end to find out what happened—it will pique your interest.

Bianca’s roommate, Regan, was so excited! She had gotten them two tickets to the Heartbreakers concert the following evening! Bianca didn’t know how this would change her life!

Bianca and Kai, the famous lead singer and guitarist of the band, meet each other and start a relationship. But things end badly when Bianca’s surprise visit reveals something she cannot accept. Where will they each go from here? Is the relationship worth fighting for? And can those powerful things that are still able to grab you in a vice grip ever be overcome?

These two have many ups and downs as they struggle with issues from the past. It isn’t always easy to rise above a difficult upbringing, and knowing what they have to go through will resonate with some readers, hopefully in a good way that strengthens. This was a good book and worthwhile reading.

A lovely story of a woman who meets a rock star but has no desire to be treated like a groupie. She's in graduate school and close to finishing her degree. It's not a terribly complicated plot but written well so you understand what Kai goes through as well as Bianca in alternate POV. It's not graphic but not overly sweet either.

I really enjoyed this book. This is a great story about love, trust, chemistry, and forgiveness. Kai and Bianca both come from troubled families which make having a lasting relationship seem out of reach, but together they find out maybe that's not always the case. Read Rocked to see how love isn't perfect and neither are people, but sometimes it's how you decide to handle those challenges that makes all the difference. Well worth reading.
