Jess leaves Halo, Texas, and Harvey Shane behind him as he travels to the town of Burton where two young girls were brutally raped and murdered by a crazed killer by the name of Orin Kaiser. After meeting with their mother, he promises to hunt Kaiser down and make him pay dearly for their murders. Things take a turn for the worse and Jess finds himself stuck in the town of Platteville, staying with a woman and her young son.
But staying in one place for too long proves to be a dangerous thing for Jess and everyone around him. He finds himself in some deadly confrontations and knows he has to leave town soon, but he feels a debt of gratitude to the woman and young boy and it’s against his nature to cut and run from trouble.
The hunt for Kaiser proves to be one of the most difficult and protracted ones, but he gets the help he needs from Shadow, a huge intelligent timber wolf who acts more like a human.
Jess’s job is to bring Orin Kaiser to justice, but Shadow’s job is to make sure Jess doesn’t get killed in the process.

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
All the Jess Williams books have had good story lines and strong character profiles. I haven't enjoyed western this much since Louis L'Amour's Sackett series. Shadow gets more talented with every "guest" appearance", though Mr. Thomas did miss putting a capital on his name several times in "Chasing Evil". I would like to see Jess go back to Black Creek or Dundee again soon. Nothing super violent, but I would like to revisit some of his 'homefolk' and get a sneak at some of his investments - in people and places.
This book was exciting, funny, action packed. Please don't ever let the wolf get killed. He brings a little extra heart to the stories. I believe in law and order but it's sometimes necessary to escape into a world where justice is served as well. Keep writing these books. I also love the humor that you have added.
Another great Bounty Hunter novel by Thomas. Jess in on the hunt for a sadistic killer who enjoys raping and butchering victims. I will be ordering fifty-ninth in the series tonight. I highly recommend this author.
It makes you wonder why God made some men. They are are worse than bad, they are Evil. Thank God for Jess Williams, a good man who kills these types of men. Great story with some great characters and Shadow.
Well I will be starting number 59 next. I guess you can see it doesn't take me long to read Jess's books. After being in hospital 90 days from this covid 19. Started reading your books. Enjoy them.JD
Chasing Evil 58th in a Series of Jess Williams Westerns
Robert J ThomS has a way of spin ing scale of the wild west. Somehow7 his works just keep getting better. I especially like the addition of Jess's side kick Shadow. All you western fans will enjoy this book. I highly recommend it. It is another one of those "can't putter downers.". So giddy up.
Great stories, and I hope that there is more to come. The only negative comments I have is the audio where they carry on conversations at over five hundred yards.

Crazy and must loco..The modern description that describes the kind of men that Jess Williams hunts falls under psychopath and or sociopath. It's whatever you decide to label these miscreants who are certainly scary and very dangerous to society. JESSE is a man killer/bounty hunter or for a better description, a black-op, western style.. How bout his partner, "SHADOW", I think he's been sent by the same Oracle that provided the "fancy gun" that Jesse wears. Shadow seems to present himself when the powers that protect Jesse feels he needs extra protection, Shadow appears...makes you wonder..right..Robert J. Thomas, each adventure/plot is always the same of Jesse Williams, kill that crazy psychopathic, loco hombres going from settlements, attacking out of the way ranches creating nothing but chaos and death..great adventures..
But, I'm tired of paying for books that come out too fast because you don't bother to use spellchecker. There are so many mistakes that I've just had my fill. Many good authors sell cheaper and they don't continually make mistakes that could easily be fixed during a re-read or edit. Goodbye and thanks for the stories.
I so enjoy reading these books on Jess Williams. He always goes after the really bad men. And he helps the ones who are left behind. Love, love, love these books.
Jess and Shadow follow a serial kill, who butchers his victims and tastes their blood. Seems to be a theme in this series, especially the brutality toward women.
