#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The wall, taxes, tariffs, deportations, Obamacare, guns, military strength, schools, abortion, religion - what will the new president do?
The "Godfather of Trumpmania," Michael Savage, examines the initial appointments, speeches, tweets and history of Donald Trump and offers his insights and analysis. The man many consider to be the determining factor in driving Trump over the finish line by motivating millions of undecideds and the "Deplorables," who would have otherwise sat out the election, provides a crucial first look at the early direction of the Trump presidency.
Savage has waged a twenty-five year war on the radio to save America's borders, language and culture from a progressive onslaught that is already turning Europe into a socialist, multiculturalist nightmare, where violent gangs of radical Islamic refugees terrorize defenseless citizens on a daily basis.
While most in the chattering classes around the world dismissed Trump's campaign, conservative radio icon Dr. Michael Savage championed Trump's platform and helped him galvanize the support of disaffected middle Americans left behind by the globalist central planners in their distant capitol.
Savage's army of listeners on The Savage Nation was instrumental in electing Donald Trump to take the fight to Washington. But electoral victory was only the beginning. Trump now has an even bigger challenge in delivering on the promises he made to millions of American voters.
He faces relentless opposition from special interests in both parties who stand to lose trillions if Trump's America First policies become the law of the land.
Dr. Michael Savage has been on the front line of this fight for decades and knows what Trump and his administration are up against. He lays out a path to victory for the new, conservative American revolutionaries in Trump's War.
Dr. Michael Savage is a multimedia icon in the conservative movement. The Telegraph in the U.K. ranked him as one of the most influential conservatives in the United States, and with 10 million weekly listeners, the Berkeley Ph.D. is the third most listened to conservative talk show host. Recently featured in The New Yorker and Playboy, Dr. Savage is the author of many books, including the political thriller Abuse of Power and four New York Times bestsellers. His media presence and profile earned him the coveted Freedom of Speech Award from Talkers magazine in 2007.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name.
Dr. Savage holds a master's degree in medical botany and a second in medical anthropology. Additionally, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in epidemiology and nutrition sciences. He is an ardent conservationist, is dedicated to his family, and is a proud patriot of his country.
I started this book to try to understand where Trump and his followers were coming from; I rarely leave a book unfinished, but I am not going to be able to finish this hate-filled rant. Michael Savage stitches his invectives together with some historical tidbits, but really - does anyone believe this stuff? Michael Savage is even more of an ego-maniac than Trump, if that is possible. He claims that he is the one who got Trump elected and that Trump is following his lead. If so, we are in even more trouble that I thought.
Easy read, easy to understand what must be done to make America great again. Savage as been preaching about this for years and finally we have a president and a congress that can restore American greatness. But we who elected them must keep them on track by staying actively involved.
The book was good but Savage has a couple of problems. One is that he credits himself way too much for Trump's win and the other is that his recollection of some events don't match up under fact checking
Another excellent book by Michael Savage. This book is certainly relevant right now with all the Russia hysteria and other Deep State, and DC Swamp ongoings. The book covers all the hot topics: Trump's war against the enemies within, the economic war, the war to repeal Obamacare, the war to build the wall and protect our borders, the culture wars, the war to restore our military, the war against the libs and neocons, the war against the RINOs, the war to restore real science, the war for the first and second amendments, and the war against the Deep State.
Even well educated politicos will learn facts they didn't know. The book will have you on the edge of your seat-either really angry about what's going on and what has gone on before-but there is a battle plan at the end. Pick it up and arm yourself.
This book wasn't as right-leaning as I thought it was going to be. Of course the author doesn't hold back from using grade school-level name calling, which I felt hurt his case. For me it is important to entertain a wide variety of viewpoints and ideas, particularly when dealing with the political realm. To that end this book brought a set of viewpoints to the fore.
The most useful information herein relates to the corporate sponsorship of BOTH political parties and how that has been used time and again to influence politicians of many spheres.
Winning the election was only the beginning. In Trump’s War: His Battle for America radio talk show host and political commentator Michael Savage outlines the coming political battles that must be waged in order for President Trump to succeed. Addressing such issues as trade, politically driven science, restoring the military, border security, health care, and the Deep State, Savage discusses some of the problems caused by the Obama administration’s push for globalism and social experimentation, and the actions that Trump should take to fix them. Additionally, he reviews some of the appointments that Trump has made and what they might signal vis-a-vis Trump’s agenda. Savage has a rather sarcastic wit (“Comrade Barry,” “Hatchet Hilary,” etc.) that may come off as a bit confrontational, but actually seems meant to add some lightheartedness and jocularity to prevent the tone from getting too dire or preachy. However, his shameless self-promoting, constantly mentioning his other books and radio show and attributing Trump’s victory to the Savage Nation, does comes off as a little braggadocios (annoyingly so at times). But minor quibbles aside, Trump’s War: His Battle for America is a provocative yet compelling look at the political struggles that Trump and the populist movement face.
I walked into this book not knowing anything about Savage other than (from the title of the book) that he is a big Trump fan. I found him to be mostly reasonable person with a big love for the country. He takes a critical look at everything Trump has done and does actually thinks about how it will effect the country. The writing style was exceptionally clear and I liked the way that he would often step through his logic. That is precisely where things turned a little murky.
Savage often would use the logically empty argument of "I am just saying" to point to something bad and say that there is something wrong with it. He frequently would reference something and say "smart Americans" know where I am going with this. He would proceed to step through a conspiracy level analysis of anything that disagreed with his general arguments. He also sadly resulted to character attacks often that didn't really seem to have any purpose other than to muddy the waters in general.
Science. I was really excited to hear that he is a "trained scientist" (as he calls himself) but as scientific and logical discussions progressed I was disappointed. Although he did a Ph.D. (thesis can be found here: http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/32...) in ethnomedicine (a mainly observational descriptive discipline which is more like cataloging of medical practices from around the world which don't have any scientific study of their efficacy), he did not really seem to understand how scientific studies are done or how progress in science is made. He argues against climate change and anthropomorphic global warming because of some data which he interprets as disproving the order of events, despite the fact that there is a plethora of data that strongly demonstrates the reality of climate change. He also thinks that using 'traditional' medicine will save us on healthcare costs despite the fact that many very rigorous scientific studies show that many of those treatments do not actually produce reproducible curative effects. If they did, then doctors would recommend them. There is no alternative medicine just medicine and not medicine.
In the end, I actually didn't mind the book too much. I admire Savage's passion and his desire to colloquially (as opposed to theoretically) discuss complex issues. That being said, Savage uses empty character attacks and doesn't quite have the intellectual rigor to participate in modern discussions of many of the issues in America in a productive way.
Savage reminds us that Trump was elected to do just as he has said in speeches. Our job is to keep him on task and to drain the swamp. Getting an outsider elected was the most fantastic event in a lifetime but to think his election is all we need to do is where Michael reminds us that we have to continue to fight for jobs and our country. The SavageNation has understood for a long time its mantra of borders, language and culture.
Savage lists the many areas that Trump needs to accomplish. He speaks to the readers to encourage and press them to help President Trump complete his agenda.
Read this book to understand the issues and what must be done to help Americans reclaim the country.
I can't finish this book. Savage just call entertainment "ground zero for the destruction of American culture" (chapter 5) while kissing the ground a former reality TV star walks on, and after pushing his views on personal responsibility.
"What happened to the fighters they were beaten to death by the radical feminist socialist left. And That would have happened if God had not intervened and given us Donald Trump"
"It is always hard to tell if you are dealing with evil or stupidity when dealing with a liberal. "
Savage seems to loves Trump almost as much as he hates Democrats. He also believes that many Republicans are only out for their own interest and interest groups. One point he makes very early on in this book is that Obama tried to ruin our country and Trump is the only one that can save it. I believe Mr. Savage puts entirely too much trust into single individuals. The American government is made up of many parts (very possible too many parts) but lots of people seem to think the one person in office is the end all be all almost like a King.
One thing we do agree on is minimum wage. He thinks that deregulation is great for companies but agrees there needs to be a minimum wage because companies will pay people next to nothing if given the chance. The part we agree on is, the minimum wage is not intended to be a living wage. Minimum wage jobs are supposed to suck and people want to improve and move forward to a higher paying position.
Being unfamiliar with Savage prior to his book, some of his approaches I am not used to his style of name calling people, turkey gobbler McConnell, emperor barry.
“Trump is no longer a showman, he is now a statesman and needs to start acting like it.“
It is interesting to me when someone who hosts a radio show and has done so by himself from the beginning how because they mostly only hear themselves talk that seems to be the only part of life’s narrative they understand. Their own voice. I felt most of this book was directed at people that already listen to his show. Much like CNN or FoxNews how they cater to their viewership. Savage doesn’t seem to care to bring in new people through long logical conversations of conservatism. It is easier to say anyone who doesn’t think like him is a “degenerate” and actors who lean to the left are “dead” to him.
Climate scientists are liars. They are in it just for money. Conservatives are the only ones trying to conserve the earth. Environmentalist only use scare tactics. Very few people actually believe in climate change.
A few statements he makes he will back up with lots of data. Some of his topics he will throw out some statement and then like most media people never really give any information. “Emperor Barry hand chose illegal immigrants to allow in this country as long as they had a disease and then spread the immigrants all over America.” Now we don’t know if illegals had all their shots (wait are we supposed to vaccinated?) but throwing it out there like President Obama was the sole person in charge of it is kind of humorous.
Savage closes the book discussing how we need to stay vigilant in watching Trump follow through what he said he would do, like lower taxes, defeat ISIS, and most of all build the wall. Savage thinks we need to keep watching all our politicians and boot them when they no longer are making logical (albeit Savage only thinks conservatives ever make the right decision) choices for our future.
A couple of takeaways from this book. I would like to find a conservative author that lays out the long complex answers to me. I am kind of dense and need more than just liberals are evil as an answer. The second thing I wondered if Savage has millions of listeners to his radio show (I know this because he told me many times throughout this book) why he didn't narrate the book himself. I know people with famous voices like Bill O'Reilly or Malcolm Gladwell will usually narrate their own books because people are already used to their voice.
This was an interesting read. Picking this up and forgetting all other sources, it's easy to get drawn in and understand the savage perspective. And he does make some fair points occasionally when he isn't bogged down with the name-calling ("Emperor Barry", "Napolean of Anti-Americanism Soros" and "Commie Sanders" are particularly memorable)- infrastructure is badly broken, co-pays are important to prevent abuse, the influence of corporations in politics, etc. But those are difficult to find because he spends most of the book ranting about the "mental disorder called liberalism" and the previous Liar-in-Chief's best efforts to destroy the country.
His other arguments are less convincing: it's global cooling not warming, govt shld get out of the important things like healthcare & education ("the more important something is, the less you want government involved"), immigrants are to blame for the rise (?) in crime & deadly diseases.
Savage Provides a Blueprint for Patriots to us to Keep our congress people and the President's feet to the fire. Yes, it is a war!
Trump's War is defined on page 12 of this book. "In addition to the liberals, the neocons, the war profiteers, the corporate lobbyists, and the evil of the place itself, Donald Trump must fight what, again, might be the most formidable enemy he faces: temptation. The temptation to be assimilated into the Washington Swamp , instead of draining it, is powerful."
The book is arranged somewhat chiastically. The 1st chapter corresponds to the last. These are the key chapters: The Enemies within are in essence, the Deep State. The war Against Obamacare corresponds with the War to Restore Real Science. etc.
it is also important to realize that since this book was written, Trump has been surrounded by "the enemies within and the Deep state. He has been hindered in ways that are keeping him from doing what Savage suggests and Patriots want. It is time to take a moment and pray for Trump and pray for this nation and all the brave souls like Savage who make careers out of informing us and battling for us.
In this review, I hope to summarize each chapter as I read it. Chapter 1: Trump's War Against the Enemies Within
This is all about draining the swamp. The first sentence I quoted is a good summary of this chapter. Savage compares the present war with the American revolutionary War in that it took 8 years to win after the initial battle of Lexington-Concord occurred. Like the War for American Independence, it is also largely based upon well -thought out ideas like Language, Culture, and Borders vs. the bullet we dodged if Hillary had been elected, a world of European Socialism and the destruction of our National Character.
I ran out of time and had to return the book to the library so I will be brief with each chapter. Chapter 2: Trump's Economic War In short, we have Trade traitors that use the idea of free trade as a way to sell us out. Getting rid of excessive regulations will stimulate the economy even better than tax cuts. Don't forget about the Eddies and the Ediths who need a livable wage. Building infrastructure can be a good thing. There is such a thing as good debt; something that gets a good return on investment. Infrastructure can do this. Let's not get too idealistic in our strict constitutional construction or libertarianism to the point we become impractical and irrelevant.
Chapter 3: Trump's War to Repeal Obamacare The healthcare system has been broken ever since the government meddled during WW2. There is collusion and corruption in the crony FDA,the Insurance companies, hospitals, and doctors.
Chapter 4: Trump’s War for Our Borders Build the Wall now! Abolish sanctuary Cities and deport the illegal vermin who are killing our citizens. World War 3 is being waged by undocumented, un-vetted immigrants. The only thing savage misses here is the UN connection.
Chapter 5: Trump's Culture Wars This chapter is about our culture and about the way we propagate it through education. Read it and know why we need to Kill Common Core, restore civics classes, and abolish the Department of Education. Trump also must use his bully pulpit to preach Americanism.
Chapter 6: Trump’s War to Restore the Military The first thing to do is restore the purged officers that were dismissed by Obama for political/social engineering reasons. aka they want it all gender equal and neutral and all that baloney. Then treat the battle -injured not the sexually confused. In other words, Man up the Military.
Chapter 7: Trump’s War Against the War Machine Peace is the goal, not war. A strong manned up military is for that purpose; not war profiteering. This is an important chapter for conservatives to read because it is easy for them, in particular, to get caught up in the neo-con game. Savage's advice is, destroy ISIS then get out of the Middle east for good.
Chapter 8: Trump's War Against the RINOs This picks up where the last one left off. The RINOs will be the big threat. This, along with the Deep State and the Enemies within. Read it.
Chapter 9: Trump's War to Restore Real Science Savage is a scientist. He gives realistic solutions. a must-read chapter. Big problems over at the NIH, CDC, and FDA that need to be solved. It too is part of the swamp. Let's be conservationists. It's good to have a clean environment and to save the whales. This reminds me of when I was part of Students for Environmental Action as a teenager. We meant what Savage is talking about, not this mindless, "the science is settled", CO2 is bad, and the global warming hysteria.
Chapter 10: Trump's War for the First Amendment If you wonder why Evangelicals voted for Trump, read this and his chapter on culture.
Chapter 11: Trump's War for the Second Amendment The problem is Islamic terrorism and psycho tropic drugs, not guns.
Chapter 12: Trump's War Against the Deep State This, as I said earlier is the heart of the problem. read this chapter carefully and remember to pray. Savage's advice: Study the global agenda of the intelligence community, back trump's plan to end the new cold war with Russia, and learn how to recognize fake news. My addition: The John Birch Society is one of the best sources for this along with their magazine, The New American.
Chapter 13: The Battle Plan beware the true believers. He didn't mention the Never-Trumpers but they are in my opinion examples of the "true believers" that end up defeating the very thing they wanted by demanding too much too soon. Savage ends the book with his solutions that are worth writing down and using as a template when writing your congressman and putting pressure on your elected officials.
In his 2017 polemic, Michael Savage vigorously defends the newly-inaugurated President Trump, attacks his opponents, and sets out a proposed agenda for the Trump administration. Savage’s arguments are persuasive and his language is clear and colorful although his occasional boastfulness can be annoying. While most of his invective is directed at leftists, liberals and Republicans who stray from their party’s core principles, which he calls “RINOs” (Republicans in name only) he also offers some sharp criticism for conservatives and libertarians whom he admonishes that the real world is not an Ayn Rand novel.
I was pleasantly surprised that although the author is a radio talk show host, he did not narrate the book himself. The narrator, Holden Still, has a much more pleasant voice than does Michael Savage.
What I do like about this book is that the author doesn't fall victim to the defaulted style of writing, in respects to how political science novels are fashioned in literary presentation. Meaning... he doesn't criticize. And if he does, it's very difficult to even identify. The author is very defaulted in context presentation. Factors of relevancy. One source logical rationale. The source may be a side of the conversation. And. He doesn't compare both sides. He just presents information in regards as to what he is more rationaled on. Which I believe is a good thing. phenomenal professional quality. For that, this style of writing, focuses on their professional intellectual ability, rather than their professional critiquing ability. He's not controversial. Which I appreciate.
I borrowed a copy of Trump's War from my local library to read.
I have enjoyed listening to The Savage Nation for many years. I like Michael Savage"s ideas on the environment and natural health care instead of the chemicals often prescribed with so many side effects that are worse than the original health problem. He has studied both areas and presents informative ideas that will help. In Trump's War he talks about private agendas need to be controlled to protect both the environment and public health from the drug lobbies. The approval of the backlog of non-approved generic drugs to bring down healthcare costs is just one example why we all need to read Trump's War and support real changes to make America great for the average citizen.
This book was interesting because Savage critiques both political parties, not just one, in this book. He also gives pointers of how President Trump would (and should) handle certain topics. I have never listened to Savage or read his other books, but this was a good read (This is based on the writing, not political views.) For a new in-depth review, go to https://lancewrites.wordpress.com/201...
This book might warrant five stars if Savage wouldn't shamelessly promote his earlier works so much! Savage outlines a first-term agenda for the new president, whose campaign Savage promoted on his radio show, Savage Nation. No real surprises here. Savage takes his Borders, Language, Culture mantra and puts it into real policy solutions. A great primer for a new Trump supporter as well as Trump Train veterans.
I really had to force myself to finish this book. So what did I learn from reading a book from a man that calls himself a scientist while at the same time he has written a book about homeopathic medicine? The main takeaway: since I disagree with most of the things he and Trump stand for, I must be a Marxist with a favourable opinion on Islam extremism. The authors world is painted in two colours: black and white.
Very interesting read, it is ringing true in everything we see. It was so refreshing to learn about the things that need to be done in relation to what Trump is doing. He is certainly holding up to his promises as best as the "deep state" will let him. This is the first book I have read from Savage, I am anxious to read more.
Fantastic book! Recommended read for...every American regardless of which side of the aisle you prefer. New Yorker living in San Fran, Michael Savage is a brilliant registered Independent Conservationist with a PhD who is full of wit & wisdom and he suffers no fools.
