Emma Deen’s first love had been dancing. Then she met her second love—Travis Winters. He had rocked her world in more than one way. Finding out that your boyfriend was half-demon was a shock of the decade. Finding out that your family had a deep dark secret….well, that changed everything. What she knew, she learned at the hands of her father.
Dancing was no longer the sole purpose of her life. It was no longer her future. And Travis was no longer the love of her life… He was the enemy.
Emma was many things. A skilled bowman. Trained in martial arts. A hunter.
It had been a year since she had stepped foot in Spring Valley and Emma was an entirely different person. Now that she was back, things were about to get messy and people were going to get hurt.
But could she live with their blood on her hands? Travis’s blood on her hands?

This was a very difficult read....because it was just so irredeemably bad. None of the characters were interesting, the writing was poor, the story was just a PoV from a different character but mirrored the previous book. The only reason I finished this was to clear it out of my currently reading pile. Honestly, I barely skimmed the last few chapters, it was that bad.
In the previous 0.5 prequel, Emma is taken in the night by a group of hunters. This book continues that story. It’s basically the book “Hunting Angel’ from Emma’s POV.
Emma used to be a dancer in love with Travis, a Divisa half-demon, then she discovered that her father is a hunter, a group that hunt demons and their kin. After her capture, Emma is indoctrinated to forget Travis and trained by her father to be a hunter. She’s determined to get out, but her brainwashing is intense. Finally, her training is over, but her first assignment is to kill Chase Winters.
Fave scenes: Emma’s disappointing homecoming, Emma shooting Angel’s car and the clandestine meeting in the garage.
This was a quick read, alot of it was a repeat from book 2 but it was interesting to hear Emmas thoughts during some of the scenes. There were some parts that I did not like Emma at all and was not sure she could be saved. Travis finally broke through to her and they seemed like they were back on the right path but then something major happens at the end and she reverts back again why she would ever be angry about what happened makes no sense to me, she has been treated horrible and still was treated like a stranger amongst her family but so easily turned against the one that loves her.
I enjoyed reading this novella. It reflects many of the aspects of previous books in this series, but only because the story is being told from Emma's POV this time around. You get an inside look at the struggles she is going through, and come to understand what drives her throughout the situations in this series so far. I would recommend this novella to readers that have already read previous books in the Divisa series, and are interested in getting a deeper look at the characters involved.
I feel so much for Emma. This poor girl who was filled with spunk and life and color was completely torn from her life, by her own father, and brain washed. Then, she finally has a chance at happiness again and she is blind sided by people she trusted. It broke my heart for her. I really hope that she can continue to be strong and overcome this too.

This novella makes the 2nd book disappointing. I’m sure if Emma was actually brainwashed it would take far longer for her to let her emotions out for Travis. She seemed more badass in the 2nd book but this made her annoying. I don’t want to read anymore novellas in this series.
Short and sweet. Came to like Emma a little more at the end of this book but only because i felt sorry for her. She still has alot to do to make me like her.
I loved this book! the whole series is awesome! to read from Emma's perspective was good but I wish this book didn't end exactly like.the other it needed to go a little further I want more lol I can't wait for the next book!
So... yeah... I can't do it anymore. I read and read hoping to find something that would separate this series from Lux... If I wanted to read Lux (which I have, three times), I would pick up my copy of Lux. This series is just the cheap knockoff version. I am over it.
A bit different with things that are told by Emma instead of Angel book. I love Angel still but Emma is growing on me. Just a bit. I feel sad for her at the end of this book and book two. However, her father wasn't a nice man and should die in my thoughts.
It was nice to read Emma's mindset especially seeing Travis again for the first time. The way she explained what she went through when her dad basically "kidnapped" her was also nice to understand a little (just a little) of why she was the way she was....cold, cynical and void of emotions. I miss the carefree, sweet loving girl. Why did Weil have to make her into a bitch? The ending was left to be desired as well. She went back to being the bitch. Ugh! I'm sure she will go back trying to kill them all in the next book.
