Ten years ago while on rumspringa, Rebecca Miller and her friends were kidnapped and held captive…and now, living in the English world, she's nearly abducted again. One by one her friends who once helped send their abductor to jail are targeted, and she is next…unless police officer Miles Olsen can stop a killer. Deaf since birth, the only person on the force that Rebecca can communicate with is Miles, and he needs this case to redeem himself of past mistakes. When the relentless killer tracks them deep into the heart of Amish country, protecting Rebecca must be Miles's sole focus. Because a mistake this time will cost something worth more to him than his job—the woman he's falling for.
Plain Retribution is the second book in the Amish Country Justice series and even though I haven't read the first book I had no trouble following the storyline. For the longest time while reading it I didn't connect with the characters and so I was sure that I wasn't going to end up liking the story...however, the ending was great and made me really enjoy the book overall.
I liked how there were Amish characters in this Love Inspired Suspense novel (I found that unique), however I didn't care for the romance. I can't even put my figure on why exactly except that I just didn't like it. The mystery was good and there was suspense throughout, so I definitely had no trouble reading it and the story flew by.
All in all, I enjoyed Plain Retribution. It's not a favorite, but it was good.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
I've been waiting for Rebecca's story since meeting her as a side character in “Plain Target”! I loved getting to know this gentle young woman. My heart ached knowing what happened to her and her friends ten years before when they were abducted. Targeted once again, it's up to officer Miles Olsen to keep her safe and track down the killer. He's the only person on the force who knows sign language and can interpret for Rebecca. Being deaf ramps up the danger and it seems the killer is always one step ahead of the game! Will they be able to outrun him before it's too late?
A definite page turner! The chemistry between these two was palatable, sizzling just beneath the surface. For reasons you'll learn by reading this story, they both resist the pull of attraction. Plus, running for your life puts a damper on anything romantic! I had no idea who the killer was, the author kept me guessing. I wondered why he was always knew where Rebecca was, and that added to the tension. I also loved how God was a natural part of the story. Having come from an Amish background, Rebecca had the foundation of faith in her life & relied on God's strength to get her through, along with Miles equally strong faith. Romantic chemistry, danger in every corner and quite a few twists makes for a story that I couldn't put down until the end. Then I could breathe again! Great as a stand alone, but made better if you've read Plain Target.
* I received an early copy provided by the author. I was not required to leave a positive review and all opinions expressed here are strictly my own *
Phew! I'm still breathless from the page-turning ending to this gripping suspense. Talk about a white-knuckled read! My poor book is a little worse for wear after the reckless way I raced through it. Compelling doesn't begin to cover it.
First off -- loved the insights the author shares about the Deaf community and ASL. Some things I knew and some I didn't and Lynn does an excellent job of portraying the many facets that make up Rebecca. The author really got under her skin and helped me see the world through Rebecca's unique perspective. Particularly how she could feel a part of something but left out at the same time. This heroine has an inner core of strength that has helped her carry on after the devastating abduction she endured as a teen. And she has to face a whole lot more as the past catches up to her.
Miles is determined to serve and protect and that means viewing Rebecca as a victim instead of the captivating woman he can't seem to resist. Romantic tension in spades! But dodging a ruthless killer while trying to figure out who he is takes precedence over love...until it's nearly too late. A thrilling story with a light Amish flavour.
Plain Retribution is a book a Christian romance with suspense. It's set in both a small town and Amish country. Ten years ago Rebecca Miller, a deaf Amish girl was kidnapped along with three other girls, after being rescued their testimony helps put the man in jail. After surviving that ordeal she has tried to move on with her life in the "English" world where she feels more at ease with the deaf community. Now Rebecca and the other girls who were abducted are being targeted. Officer Miles Olsen is the only one on the police force fluent in ASL and he must protect Rebecca and bring the kidnapper to justice. Officer Olsen has the need to prove himself after he let his emotions get the better of him in the past on a case that he still feels guilty over. This book is the second in a series called Amish Country Justice. I have not read the first book, but I had no problems following the story and I think that Plain Retribution can be read as a stand alone book. I really enjoyed this book, I read it all in one day. The beginning gripped me and pulled me in. It is a suspenseful romance, but it wasn't scary or grossly detailed. This story has some Amish living scenes in it, but it's mostly set in the "English" world, as that where the main characters live, I'm not sure why there is an Amish girl on the cover. The love story is sweet and it is a clean read. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I'll be following this author for sure. Plain Retribution Dana R. Lynn Series: Amish Country Justice 224 pages Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense (August 8, 2017) ISBN-10: 0373457235 ISBN-13: 978-0373457236
Would I read it again? Yes Would I recommend it? Yes to adults, young adults. This book is a clean read.
4 stars 1 star – didn’t like it 2 stars – it was OK 3 stars – liked it 4 stars – really liked it 5 stars – it was amazing
I received this book from NetGalley. I was under no obligation to give a positive review. All opinions are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
This was an exiting read about a former Amish girl who has been deaf her whole life. She lest the Amish community largely because of her deafness but still maintains a close relationship with her family. She is being targeted in this book and it's up to Officer Miles Olson to figure out why. The backstory that ends up being the motive for the present day problems was extremely intriguing. The main character being deaf added a very interesting element and the fact that Miles had deaf relatives and was able to be an interpreter for Rebecca was pretty cool. This was a great Love Inspired Suspense novel and I look forward to Dana's next book.
I so enjoyed this suspenseful Amish fiction novel. It would be hard to survive what Rebecca Miller survived during her rumspringa. It would be harder to have something similar happen 10 years later. Rebecca is being targeted and has no idea why at first. Miles helps her during this investigation to find what is happening to her and three other girls. I loved the characters and the story. This blended the English world and the Amish world quite well. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Wow is all I can say for the moment. This was an amazing book. The suspense, the romance, and the presence of God on each page were awesome. I love how the deaf community was portrayed in the book. Sigh, now I have to wait for the next book. An ARC was given to me by the author. My opinions are 100% my own
I'm speechless, which isn't the best thing to be when you are supposed to be reviewing a book. But there were so many good things about Plain Retribution that I don't know were to start. There was non-stop action, the danger never slowed down. The suspense wasn't just wanting to know who the killer was. It was between Rebecca Miller and Miles Olsen as well. Miles had made mistakes in the past and was trying so hard to redeem himself, and he was scared that this time if he failed he'd lose something so much more valuable than his job. For most of her life, Rebecca had felt like an outsider, even in her own home. Miles made her feel special, like she belonged. This book has been by far one of my favorites. If you like romantic suspense, it's definitely a must read.
What a breathtaking, fast-paced, action-packed, suspenseful story this was! I was glued to the book from the start to finish, it was impossible to put down because you never knew what kind of twist or attack the protagonist had to face next. The anticipation in the tale is intense! The only thing that stayed the same, stayed constant, was the unwavering faith their had in God, the trust they had that He will guide them and protect them no matter what they have to face. The faith was sincere, natural to them, and well embedded into the story. Rebecca Miller was a heroine I not only liked but respected immensely. She knew who she was, she was comfortable with herself, she is capable, able, smart, and sweet. The insights to the world of non-hearing people were eye openers to me, the author pointing out and highlighting things, habits, and challenges that made me take notice. Miles Olsen as a complex hero was well done. Him struggling with his past mistakes, being honest about them, learning from them and growing as a man, police officer, and a friend was a remarkable to witness. Despite his past problems and behaviors, or maybe because he was so honest about it, I liked him. He is protective, caring, kind man, his growing feelings towards Rebecca were endearing, and his sweet disposition when it came to her was adorable. His temperament was so cool and calm until Rebecca walked into the picture. The tempo of the story is fast and escalating as the culprit's crimes and assaults get even more violent and intense. I enjoyed the story immensely, the threatening, deadly suspense, the delightful and charming budding romance, and the strong belief that God will guide them and keep them safe, all the component of the tale were well twined together, making it flow naturally from the pages while being engaging and entertaining! ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
Plain Retribution had an engaging plot filled with action that kept me spellbound reading till the end. Someone is out to end Rebecca Miller’s life along with her friends. Miles Olsen was assigned to lead the investigation, plus he knew sign language which was vital for Rebecca without always having an ASL present. Miles had a lot at stake by being the lead investigator, but he also wanted to protect Rebecca from her killer. Who was behind the killer always knowing where Rebecca was going to be at? Dana R. Lynn packed this story with a marvelous heroine and hero, along with secondary characters, continuous action and events that were well researched until the end. Lynn has interwoven faith into this romantic suspense that added to the story. I appreciated the connection Rebecca had with her family, even though she had left her Amish community because of the disadvantages of not being able to communicate with her deafness. Plain Retribution can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading book one, Plain Target, to appreciate this story more. I look forward to reading the next book in Amish Country Justice series by Dana R. Lynn. She delivers a powerful suspense filled with continuous action, faith, romance and characters that will stay with you once the book is closed.
I received a complimentary copy of Plain Retribution from the author. I was not required to write a positive review, but have expressed my sincere opinion for Plain Retribution.
While she was on rumspringa, Rebecca Miller was kidnapped, along with her friends, ten years ago. Now living in the Englisch world, Rebecca finds herself a target once again. Officer Miles Olsen is the only one of the force who is able to communicate with her, as Rebecca is deaf. When the threats increase and those close to Rebecca turn up missing, Miles questions his ability to keep her safe. Is this related to the incident years ago, or is someone else out to get her?
This is the second installment in the “Amish Country Justice” series. I was happy to see Rebecca as the heroine, as I enjoyed her in Plain Target. The fact that she is deaf adds to the danger angle in this story. The action starts on the front page. There is great chemistry between Rebecca and Miles, and the mystery keeps you guessing throughout. Spiritual elements are woven in and are not preachy or overwhelming. I look forward to reading the final book in this trilogy.
Good book with a sweet romance and gripping suspense. It starts with a rush as Rebecca is attacked while leaving work one night. The attack brings back memories from ten years ago when she and several friends were kidnapped and held captive. After the girls' rescue, their testimony helped send the kidnapper to prison. This time she can break free and is rescued by Miles. To their dismay, Rebecca and Miles discover that those victims have been targeted and that she appears to be the next in line.
I loved Rebecca from her first appearance as Jess's friend in Plain Target. She is a woman of amazing inner strength. Deaf since birth, she dared to leave her Amish family to seek out deaf community "Englischers." She has made an excellent life for herself with a job she likes and good friends among both the hearing and the deaf. I loved the descriptions of the challenges she faces and the effects they have on her life and her hopes for the future.
I also loved Miles. He is still trying to make up for past actions (see Presumed Guilty) and solving this case will go a long way toward that redemption. As the only officer who is proficient in sign language, he is put in charge of protecting Rebecca and finding the culprit. He is intense and determined not to fail.
I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Miles and Rebecca. There are sparks of attraction from the beginning though both try to ignore it. Miles doesn't want to let his emotions interfere with his job, and is afraid that giving in will be too much of a distraction. Rebecca believes that allowing herself to feel something for Miles will only lead to disappointment and heartbreak. I loved how sweet and caring Miles was each time he needed to explain something that was going on to Rebecca. He was amazingly sensitive to her feelings of isolation even when there were people around her. His protectiveness warred with his desire to keep his emotions out of the mix. It was fun to see Miles try to deny his growing feelings for Rebecca, though everyone around him could easily see it. Rebecca also could not deny the effect that Miles had on her. The way that he understood her and made her feel included only deepened her feelings for him, even though she didn't think her feelings were returned. It wasn't until he nearly lost her that Miles could admit the way he felt. The epilogue was sweet and romantic, and I loved how it included Rebecca's family.
The suspense was really good. The danger to Rebecca was obvious and intense from the very start. Each attack brought more questions about who was behind them. My heart was in my throat several times as it seemed the attacker appeared out of nowhere. It was easy to see how frustration at his failures increased the attacker's frenzied attempts against Rebecca. The final confrontation had me on the edge of my seat until everyone was safe.
The past has come back to haunt Rebecca Miller after she’s nearly abducted outside her place of employment. Reminders of that frightful time of her abduction ten years ago hit her and she’s once again paralyzed. Thankfully, police officer Miles Olsen comes to her rescue after she barely escapes with her life. She soon discovers all of the girls who were captured with her years ago are now targeted since they helped put their assailant away. She’s next.
Police officer Miles Olsen is out to correct past mistakes when Rebecca’s case lands on his doorstep, but can he keep his head straight as the beautiful deaf girl wheedles down his resolve to stay distant. Her life depends on it.
Rebecca and Miles face numerous attacks as they race to find the assailant. Can they discover his identity before he succeeds in the chase to capture his final target? And can Rebecca and Miles fight their growing attraction for each other or will it get in the way of the case?
Dana R. Lynn has done it again with this action-packed tale! Plain Retribution will capture you from the first page and leave you breathless until you reach the final sentence.
I loved the second installment of the Amish Country Justice series. Picking up with Rebecca’s story is a fitting way to continue with this series and having Miles trying to rectify past mistakes makes for a powerful read. The faith interwoven throughout adds to the storyline as does the use of the deaf protagonist. It has a freshness to it.
The characters are well developed and likable. You feel yourself cheering them on as they race against the clock. I liked that the author brought in characters from past books.
The plot keeps you guessing and glued to the pages.
I give Plain Retribution five stars. It’s a suspenseful ride you’ll want to get on!
**Book has been provided courtesy of the author in exchange for my honest review.
Plain Retribution, the second book in Dana R. Lynn’s Amish Country Justice series, didn’t disappoint. Rebecca Miller is a brave young woman who survived a horrific tragedy in her teen years. Leaving her Amish roots behind, Rebecca creates a supportive community for herself in the Englisch world. Though deaf, her disability doesn’t hold her back. Neither does her tragic past. It isn’t until she’s once again the victim of an attack she realizes she needs help.
Help comes in the form of police officer Miles Olsen. Miles is an officer looking to redeem himself after a major error in judgment gets him demoted. Solving this case could get him back in the chief’s good graces, but as the threats against Rebecca push him into closer contact with the attractive blonde, she just may find her way into his heart.
Ms. Lynn kept the suspense high and the romance developing throughout this page turner. It’s clear she understands the deaf community, the Amish and law enforcement.
Remembering Miles from Ms. Lynn’s Presumed Guilty, it was refreshing to see how Ms. Lynn redeemed his character and turned him into a worthy hero. I was skeptical that I could learn to like Miles, but I loved the insight into his character and motivations past and present. Rebecca is a character who can hold her own. Her hopeful faith in the face of danger is a great foil to Miles’ attempts to proceed by the book.
I would recommend Plain Retribution to anyone looking for an inspirational romantic suspense with Amish elements that features an intriguing plot filled with ever escalating danger and romance.
I absolutely love both Rebecca Miller and Miles Olsen! They are so incredibly well developed. The amount of details that are given as to how a deaf girl would be treated is fantastic. My heart broke for Rebecca every time that the distance between her and her family came up. I can’t imagine what it would be like to not be able to hear. This book helped me to have some understanding of what deaf people deal with all the time.
The plot for this story was wonderful! There were lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing as to how everything fit together. I just knew that I needed to find out how the mystery of who was attacking Rebecca and why turned out. The attraction between Rebecca and Miles was just bonus content for me.

Set against the backdrop of the Israelites getting ready to enter the Promised Land, this tale is called biblical fiction, but so much of the story comes from the author’s imagination. I should have known by the title and the Bible teaching about Balaam that this book would deal with more sensual material than I care to read. I found the pagans’ seduction of Israel disgusting, but that’s what sin is. God hates it. However, I wish so much wasn’t described in the story, even though it doesn’t go into detail. The characters do seem realistic—too much so in some cases. I thought Balaam knew the true God but was led astray by greed. This portrays him as a worshipper of many gods who learns Yahweh is more powerful. The first 60 percent of this long novel deals with the plot to entice Israel into idol worship so the nation could be conquered. Thankfully, once sin is punished, the story takes a redemptive turn. I like this quote: “We dare not cling to any form of evil because he (God) will eventually shatter every perverted, hurtful thing. But his love for us is as fierce as his wrath.” I appreciate the character list, which I found in the back—it should have been in the front so readers know it’s there. Also, it helps orient the reader to which point of view with the character’s name given at the start of every scene. All opinions are my own.
This is the second book in the Amish Country Justice Series. Dana does an excellent job on Amish Suspense. I really enjoy her work. This book is well written, fast paced, and full of action. She has interwoven her faith throughout her story, I really like that. I know you are going to enjoy this book.
Rebecca Miller and her friends were abducted during her ramspringa ten years ago. The girls were able to escape and put the man behind bars. Rebecca now lives in the English world because she is deaf and is unable to communicate with her family. She is almost kidnapped again and finds each of the girls are also under attack; the only police officer who can sign tries to help her.
Police Officer Miles Olsen has a past that haunts him. He is determined to save this girl's life and the lives of the other girls and find the find the killer to redeem his past mistakes. He takes her deep into the Amish community but the killer still manages to come after them. Can he save the girl, find the killer, and keep his heart safe?
A journey of two broken hearts struggling to survive in a world exploding in violence. God has a plan for these two; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.
Loved this Amish suspense by Dana R Lynn! What do you do when someone has targeted you and you're deaf? The only person you can rely on is police officer Miles Olsen to keep you safe, who is the only person in town you can communicate with. But can he protect the woman he's falling for, or will his past mistakes cause him to slip up and get her hurt? Everything he knows and loves is on the line until he can secure Rebecca's safety. When Rebecca is kidnapped again, will she survive long enough for Miles to save her?
I enjoyed this story's look at deafness and communication. Miles grew up signing and speaking in ASL (American Sign Language). Rebecca is working toward a Certified Deaf Interpreter certificate. Dana's depiction of Rebecca's deafness increased my awareness of some of the things she encountered in her daily life.
I received a free copy in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
I really enjoyed this page turning novel that was full of suspense and riveting heart pounding action. Its the second book in the series. This book reads fine as a stand alone.
LaMar Pond, Pennsylvania is the setting for the novel. Rebecca Miller is a deaf girl who has left her Amish community to try to be more acclaimated into the hearing world. The author did a wonderful job of weaving the interactions between the deaf and hearing world into the story line.
Ten years ago Rebecca and a group of her friends suffered a horrific event and now it has come back to haunt them. A killer is on the loose and Rebecca and her friends are the targets.
Police officer Miles Olsen has been assigned to be Rebecca's interpreter as well as her protector. He has been demoted for his past actions and is eager to prove himself to his superiors when assigned to this case.
I loved how it took quite a while to figure out the killer's motives and it was heart warming to see how much Miles truly cared about Rebecca. They both trust God to take care of them in the midst of danger.
This book was a great blend of suspense and the secondary Amish aspects as well.
Plain Retribution is a frantic story of kidnapping freedom them kidnapping twice over - but not just of one person but a group of people - The second time they are never to be found - it is a gothic tale about poor Rebecca who was kidnapped with some of her friends during Rumspringa - they were found and freed(all but one was found alive) - Praise GOD - but ten years later hey wait I cannot tell you the whole story but what starts happening is bizarre - now - what is happening to one of the girls and what there was was a major major secret I am not telling you about Rebecca. Then there is the protective police officer who is falling for her - but he can't because he is the head of the case. So what will happen? What happened to her friends? Will they find all her friends? will she remain so defensesive? Will she let them down for her knight in shining armour? Will he survive? This book is awesome, heart pounding, I honestly was scared in the middle of the night alone and enjoyed it very much - this book is phenomenal. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.
Rebecca wakes everyday to see the scars that were left ten years earlier by a man whom attacked her and her friends. As deaf member of an Amish community Rebecca felt that she needed to leave the community not long after being saved from her tormentor. Except now it appears someone is after her and her friends all over again. With everyone of them being targeted Rebecca turns to Miles. The only cop she knows that can sign fluently. She feels safe with his protection.
Miles has history of his own. He has self doubt in the position he is being placed on in the case. Yet he knows he can solve the crimes he just has to push himself harder and not let his own personal past get in his way. He also has to keep himself from falling for the victim in which he has been entrusted to protect.
This book is a page turner. I was sucked in from page one trying to figure out who was attacking the young girls that had already been through more in younger years than many people have been through in entire lifetimes. I could not put this book down. I had to finish it! Grab your copy today.
This is book two in the Amish Country Justice series, however it is a stand alone book. I am sure I missed some history of some of the sub characters yet it did not make this novel hard to keep up with.
This novel is full of mystery, suspense, and romance. It is not your typical Amish type novel. Even though, Rebecca Miller, grew up Amish, she has chosen the English world. The Amish do appear and play a role in this book but it is not the primary focus.
Rebecca Miller is a beautiful, kind hearted, deaf woman. She is just trying to forget a horrible past experience in her life and move on. Yet, is her past trying to catch up with her or is this new threat totally unrelated.
Miles Olsen is a handsome detective whom happens to know sign language and has helped Rebecca in her past. Will he be able to overcome some of his own fears and solve the threat against Rebecca before more harm comes to her?
Plain Retribution is not only a great Amish suspense book - it is an awesome book!
Dana R. Lynn was able to write a great page-turning suspense book and still able to touch on so many subjects. Dana dealt with deafness and difficulty in communicating with the hearing world, horrible crimes that the victim suffer from way after the crime is supposedly paid for my criminals, Amish leaving to live amongst the English, learning to trust when you have no more trust in you just to name a few in the pages of Rebecca Miller’s story in Plain Retribution. The author does this seamlessly all the while connecting you to the characters making them like friends or family that you want to help or protect. The suspense and details keep you turning the pages wanting answers but not really wanting the book to end it’s that good.
I don’t think you will be disappointed when you read this book. I know I’m looking forward to the next book - Amish Country Justice #3.
Ten years ago while on rumspringa, Rebecca Miller and her friends were kidnapped and held captive...and now, living in the English world, she's nearly abducted again. One by one her friends who once helped send their abductor to jail are targeted, and she is next...unless police officer Miles Olsen can stop a killer. Deaf since birth, the only person on the force that Rebecca can communicate with is Miles, and he needs this case to redeem himself of past mistakes. When the relentless killer tracks them deep into the heart of Amish country, protecting Rebecca must be Miles's sole focus. Because a mistake this time will cost something worth more to him than his job---the woman he's falling for.
MY REVIEW
A great book with a lot of action, this predator just will not give up and doesn't care who he hurts as long as he gets his target. Yes, a must read! Now onto the next book in the series, "Amish Christmas Abduction".
I think Plain Retribution is the third book I've read by Dana R. Lynn but I'm pretty sure it's my favorite so far. The first book in the Amish Country Justice mini-series was great, but this one was even better! To be honest, when I first figured out who Miles was, I was not happy. I mean he wasn't exactly a nice person in the first story he appeared in. But it didn't take long for this guy, who just trying to prove himself, to grow on me and I did come to to like him. I loved Rebecca right off, and I found myself desperately hoping that her attacker would be caught. Plain Retribution is a must read for fans of Dana R. Lynn and for readers of romantic suspense. It's a nail-biter that you won't be able to put down, I know I couldn't....
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I enjoyed this story. I liked that the book really delves into the life of a woman, Rebecca Miller, who is deaf and how she reacts to her world using other senses. I love that she thinks in sign at some points. Fascinating really. It is interesting that her family is Amish and only a few try to learn sign language. I have not read the first book in the series but this was like a stand alone to me. I would like to read the first one though. Miles is also an interesting character, a law officer who is called to serve and meets Rebecca. He is able to communicate with her properly. They both have issues to deal with and grow as the plot progresses. It's a believable storyline too.
Thanks to NetGalley and Love Inspired for my copy of the book.
This is one of the best romances in the Amish genre that I have ever read. It’s really equally a mystery as well as romance, and the suspense and romantic action are definitely blended. I could especially relate to the description of feeling isolated in one’s own family because of disability and the inability of some of the family members to handle the disability well. I could also relate to the fear from being the victim of a prior crime and how it tends to worm its way through everything you do. As a sidenote, this book is directly responsible for gently urging me to face my fear and do something that I have wanted to try for a long time but had a loud fear to stop me from doing. This is a book that can change lives as well as providing some excellent entertainment.
Rebecca Miller is attacked after she climbs into her car as she gets off work and thankfully police officer Miles Olson arrives on scene just in time to rescue her. Rebecca has been deaf all her life born into an Amish family who loves her but they also struggle to communicate with her that’s when she decides not to be Amish. As other attacks on Rebecca escalate Miles is assigned to protect her as well as interpret for her since Miles knows how to sign. Miles and Rebecca fight a growing attraction to one another as he fights to keep her safe from her stalker/ attacker. Can they survive long enough to realize how much they love each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author did a great job intertwining the deaf world with the hearing world. She put in facts about the deaf community and ASL.
I loved the fact that Miles takes Rebecca's deafness into thought as he interacts with the hearing. The author did a good job describing Rebecca's world, how she feels and interacts.
The suspense had me turning pages wanting to know what happens next.
I was given a copy of the book for an honest review.
Loved Rebecca and Miles story. Rebecca and three other women had been kidnapped and held captive for two days. Years later someone is coming after them again. This story has attempted murder, murder, kidnapping, and so much more. Miles could not save his sister, and because of the way he handled the investigation he was stripped of his sergant's badge. He refused to get personally involved in another case but God had other plans.
