Not your mother's Love Inspired Suspense! :-) I think I can honestly say that Taken Hostage is one of the most unique LIS novels I've read. There's an edgy desperate vibe to the story right from the start. And the medical research angle was really interesting -- and frighteningly all too real. Tensions run high from start to finish as Regan and Colby fight impossible odds to save those they love most -- and in the process find the kind of enduring love dreams are made of.

Jordyn Redwood has hit it out of the park with her latest..."Taken Hostage. "

Pour yourself a large cup of coffee & be prepared for a wonderful literary ride.

You will be engaged from the very start. The medical scenarios are authentic, frightening and realistic.

One question? "How far would you go to save your child?"

Read "Taken Hostage" to find the answer.

I was given an ARC by the author. Thank you, Jordyn!

I have read all Jordyn Redwood's books and am proud to have them sit on my keeper shelves. I love her medical blogs, too. I really enjoy medical suspense and she is one of the best! This one takes off at a fast pace and keeps going with that same pace until the very end.

"Ten bullets. Nine in the clip, one in the chamber. Checked twice." When a book starts out like that, you know it's going to be good. It just starts the excitement flowing to know what's next.

Neurosurgeon Regan Lockhart's daughter is kidnapped and the deal for her life is that her mother must hand over the virus she uses in a radical cancer treatment. Bounty hunter Colby Waterson needs that cure for his sister's cure because it's her very last hope. But the kidnappers want Regan to develop a biological weapon or her daughter dies. Both Regan and Colby will need every skill they possess to bring this to a good conclusion. Terror and danger lie around every corner and nothing seems safe.

Seriously, this book was excitement from beginning to end. The action flows seamlessly throughout the book. If you enjoy suspense, this is the book for you.

TAKEN HOSTAGE is a rather scary suspense involving Bio-terrorism. Dr. Regan Lockhart has developed a vaccine that might cure certain kinds of cancer but she is sucked into a scary nightmare when she is attacked on a busy commute to the hospital early one morning. Her daughter is kidnapped, her nanny is murdered, and terrorists are insisting she develop a virus that will kill mass amounts of people or she'll never see her daughter alive again.

No dead bodies are found by hero or heroine if you are the screamish sort, there is a bit of realism suspended with a bank scene, but otherwise I was at the edge of my seat. What would Regan do? Will Colby be able to rescue her? Will she be able to save his sister's life? Will the terrorists win?

You'll have to read this page-turner to find out.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

How far would a person go to save their daughter? That’s what Dr. Regan Lockhart will find out in this chilling story. As if nearly being killed in a deliberate car accident weren’t enough, they took her eleven year old daughter as ransom and shot her nanny. When bounty hunter Colby Waterson not only witnesses the accident but protects her life, the stakes run higher. A radical cancer cure ties these two together; but will it also be the catalyst that gets them killed?

I was left breathless from the first sentence! Right from the starting gate there’s full-on action and just keeps building from there. I found this difficult at best to put down because there was so much going on and left me reeling. I could see so many scenarios played out in today’s world and it was terrifying. This is one that will take you hostage!

The opening scene is so explosive that I sat on the edge of my seat. The author knows how to grab a reader's attention within a few sentences. What would you do if you saw a vehicle trying to overpower another one? Colby sees that very scenario right in front of him on the freeway. His instincts kick in and he maneuvers his way to help whoever is being attacked on the road. The intense drama is spectacular and I immediately knew I wouldn't be able to put the book down.

Colby is a bounty hunter, has served time in the service and has a goal to save his sister who has a devastating tumor. There is only one person who has the knowledge to save his sister's life. Dr. Regan Lockhart is a top notch neurosurgeon who believes she can save Colby's sister. In a split second their lives change when Regan's daughter is kidnapped. As any mother would do, she is willing to sacrifice anything to save her child. Will she risk her practice, and her patients lives in order to save her child? Who wants the virus that Regan has developed and why? The medical terminology is spot on and shows how much research the author has done to make it realistic. I loved the action that never stopped and thought that Colby and Regan worked well together.

It's a race to the very end as the threat of evil tries to take control of the drug that Regan has. When bodies start dropping and the military get involved, Colby has to decipher who he can trust. The author keeps readers glued to the story with high voltage intrigue and a race to find out who is behind the danger Colby and Regan find themselves in. The book easily sends shivers down your spine as the story weaves through labs that become unsafe and a list of people who suddenly can't be trusted. Get ready for an ending that leave you speechless.

The review is my own opinion.

I really enjoy Jordyn Redwood's writing, both her storylines and her attention to detail, especially her attention to medical detail. As a professional nurse, Ms. Redwood enjoys the medical field so much that she has a blog that assists other authors in writing medically accurate scenes. Her knowledge and love of all things medical shines in this newest release, Taken Hostage.

Taken Hostage starts off with a bang when what looks like an extraordinary case of road rage, turns into something far more sinister. Colby Waterson is on his way to the hospital to meet with the new neurosurgeon who has agreed to take on his sister's case. His sister has a rare form of brain cancer that other doctors have claimed to be untreatable. Regan Lockhart, a neurosurgeon, has developed a possible cure; but when Colby sees a woman as a victim of road rage, he stops to help her after she is run off the road.

Except, there is something different about the other car; it is almost like the driver is trained to take Regan's vehicle out of traffic without causing her harm. Colby, a bounty hunter and ex special forces, recognizes special training when he sees it. Carefully approaching the disable vehicle, he finds Regan Lockhart being dragged by force and pushed into the other vehicle. Then the shooting begins.

Fast paced from the first page to the last, Jordyn Redwood has penned another winner.

While I like to read all varieties and topics when I choose books, Harlequin and Silhouette are steady choices because they are easy to read, touch my romantic streak, and always end satisfactorily. Real life is not like this, but sometimes I need to feel like it is. Taken Hostage is a perfect example. Our Female protagonist is strong and intelligent, a neurosurgeon, who has developed a new treatment for rare brain cancer. She is in the middle of trials when her daughter is taken and held for ransom ...they want the virus used as a basis for the treatment.

Colby is a man haunted by the loss of his wife and unborn child, who hides in the military to avoid having to face his grief. Then his beloved sister develops a rare form of cancer. He lives the military set on ensuring that his sister gets every possible chance to survive. He is on his way to the hospital to meet with the neurosurgeon when a military style attack is made on the car in front of him. He intervenes and finds he has saved the very surgeon who is trying to save his sister.

The abductors have lost their quarry and decide to go after the surgeon's daughter. Now the surgeon must decide whether she will give the virus to the abductors and Colby must decide if he will have to sacrifice his sister to save the woman who is beginning to get under his skin.

What will each decide?

I reviewed this for RT Bookreviews Magazine : https://www.rtbookreviews.com/book-re...

Fast-paced action, believable scenarios and intricate medical detailing add to the tension and drama in Redwood’s newest release. It is easy to stay engaged with the characters, and the possible reality of the story is startling. This cleverly crafted tale will likely keep the reader guessing. “Behind the story” details, which add to the enjoyment of the book, are included.

Neurosurgeon Regan Lockhart must decide what lengths she will go to in order to save her abducted daughter. The kidnappers want Regan to give them a radical treatment she has developed, which is currently scheduled to be used as a cancer patient’s last hope. The case is personal to bounty hunter Colby Waterson, as that patient is his sister. If Regan agrees to the demands, she may save her daughter, but she will also be placing a bioweapon in enemy hands, as well as sentencing Colby’s sister to death. Who can Regan trust, and just what is she willing to do to save those she loves? (LOVE INSPIRED, Oct., 224 pp., $5.99)

This is the first book I read by this author, and I have definitely become a fan.
The story centers around Regan Lockhart and Colby Waterson. Regan’s daughter has been kidnapped . The reason is that Regan is a neurosurgeon that has used an experimental virus for cancer treatment. But the kidnappers are more interested in the evil they can do with it, than in saving humanity. Their trade is the daughter for the virus.
Colby, a bounty hunter, has lost too much in his life and his sister might be the next one if she doesn’t get the cancer treatment. Though these two have different goals they end up together to safe their loved ones and each other.
Will they be able to overcome the evil that surrounds them? Will they be able to help both Regan’s daughter and Colby’s sister?
This is an “on the edge of your seat” novel filled with suspense, bad guys, a timeline, heart pounding moments , and some romance thrown in for good measure. In other words, a book that will hold your attention from beginning to end.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I just finished reading Taken Hostage by Jordyn Redwood. This book was one I didn’t want to put down. The author jumps into the action from the first page, reeling me in completely through the last page, and even then, I didn’t want it to finish. I love the way the author crafts her words – I felt like I was right in the middle of the action. The imagination of “what could happen” was wonderful. She kept the characters likeable (Regan and Colby) even while doing things one normally wouldn’t allow themselves to do if not in a situation that forced their hand. The twists and turns in the plot kept me reading to figure out how it was all going to end and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t have it all figured out but the author kept me on the edge of my seat through the final pages. This author has a way with bringing a story to life as though I’m watching a movie instead of just reading a book.

Regan has one thing that is more important then life its self. When that one thing goes missing she will stop at nothing to get her back and it that means helping the bad guys she will come up with something as long as it keeps her daughter safe. Colby has seen loss and he is sick of it he will stop at nothing to help save it sister, but when some other people has plans it seems it will stop at nothing to help a women save her daughter but at what cost.

This is a first book for me from Mrs. Redwood and I don't know why, I will say this will not be my last thats for sure. This book had me on the edge of my seat there were moments of telling a story and there were moments of sitting on the edge of your seat moments. I could not put this book down and it was so worth every minute. I loved how this was a clean read and that even in the darkest moments for the characters they looked for God for the peace they needed. Seriously you can not go wrong with this amazing book.

Taken Hostage is by Jordyn Redwood. It is a love-inspired romance with no graphic scenes. However, it is full of suspense and action.
Colby Waterson, Bounty hunter, has one thing on his mind. He needs to get to the hospital and see Dr. Lockhart about her doing surgery on his sister Sam. Dr. Lockhart has a new procedure which uses polio virus to create a substance that will shrink tumors. However, he is detained when he stops to help a motorist who has been run off the road by a SUV. He gets more than he bargained for.
Colby is doubly concerned when he finds the motorist is none other than Dr. Regan Lockhart who is scheduled to see Sam. Before he can get her to the hospital, he has to keep her safe from the men who are after her. Then they find out her daughter has been kidnapped. Before they can do anything, Colby and Regan are also kidnapped. Why and by Whom?

I’m So Glad I Read This Outstanding Suspense
Taken Hostage by Jordyn Redwood is a book that will hold you hostage from beginning to end. Redwood’s twist of medical research in this book keeps you turning the pages to see what will happen next. That kept me reading late at night to get to the end. The characters are very real as they are faced with kidnapping, danger and making hard choices for self or the greater good. The suspense begins at the very first page and the ending…well I didn’t know for sure how it would end. The romance just tops the book off to be a book you just don’t want to miss.

If you like nonstop suspense, this book is for you! From the moment that Colby Waterson sees an attempted kidnapping, this story does not slow down. Dr. Regan Lockhart is saved from this attempt but after her daughter is kidnapped, Colby and Regan must work together to not only save her daughter but also Colby's sister - and possibly the world! Terroists, bioweapons, and lifesaving research are just a few of the modern day topics that are covered in this "rollercoaster novel". Once you start reading, you can't put it down!

Jordyn Redwood's "Taken Hostage" is a thrill ride from start to finish. With her expert medical knowledge, the implausible becomes very plausible.

Which is chilling when you realize that she's writing about possible biological weaponry. And hostile international players. And kidnapping.

My one wish was more room to really allow the story to breathe and to let the romance build at a believable pace. Such a talented writer can read too confined in certain formats and in a page count that's far too low.

But I did enjoy the story, and I'm very glad this is fiction and not true crime!

I loved Jordyn's new book Taken Hostage! The action started immediately on the second page and built throughout the entire book. I will not tell you what the book is about because you definitely need to read it for yourself. It was suspenseful, clean and romantic. I loved her descriptive phrases and the way the action continued to rise. I have read all of Jordyn's books and loved every single one of them. This one is no exception!

This is a great story. The story has a jump start with Colby seeing a accident that is a military maneuver against Dr Regan Lockhart. What I love about this book is that its fast paced with just the right mix of suspense in it. It has some medical terms in that is done in away that it doesn't overwhelm a person but it adds to the story that it makes you want to turn the page to see whats going to happen next. Its an awesome story and definitely worth a read. J
