Sometimes what's done in the dark doesn't need to come to the light. It should stay shut away forever. The lifestyle of sisters Rhonnie and Ahli Drake is proof of that. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Ronnie and Ahli have been raised to do the unthinkable to survive. With their father setting up all of their dangerous hits, the two have easily stolen over two hundred thousand dollars over the years. Still, they feel a void. They want to live normal lives while they still can. Before they can perform their last job, which their father has promised will get them out of the game for good, a prior hit comes back to haunt them. It leaves their father with his throat slit and the girls in fear for their lives. With no money and no safe place to go, the girls have no choice but to agree to do one last hit. What is supposed to be just a job turns into what will be the most horrific experience of their lives. Just when you think you know what's going to happen next, this twisted tale takes a deep dive for the worse.
C. N. Phillips is an author from Omaha, NE. She realized her passion at the ripe age of eight and her love for words never went away. She is most known for her ability to weave a heart pounding and gritty story from nothing.
Currently signed to Carl Weber's publishing house, Urban Books, C. N. Phillips is already trailblazing alongside her predecessors. With titles such as The Last Kings, Kingpins Los Angeles, and Me & My Girl she wants the world to know that she's getting started.
There needs to be a second part to this book! I would love to read about how Ahli and Rhonnie are going to function without their daddy, Quinton, in their lives anymore. Ahli and Brayland became close and I'm glad he didn't die at the brothel like Madame wanted. I am glad that Madame got what she deserved though. Yes, this was a very good book.
I love the bond the two sisters share also the love and loyalty to their dad The twist and turns had my stomach in knots I gotta thought Anna would get revenge smh I’m happy breaylsnd survived and the last Kings are the perfect fit for them all I still think Rebecca is alive tho
I read a sequel to this novel at some point. It was nice to put everything together. It has a few layers. C.N. Phillips is fast becoming an Urban fiction fave of mine. Sisters coming face to face with the person that had their father murdered and, an interesting unhinged villain. While it's not perfect, I'd definitely recommend. It's a fast read. 3.5 stars.
I’m astonished at how well written this book is. Your mind is so creative with the way you started and finished this book. Everything was unexpected and made an amazing story! One of your best!!! I’ll probably read it again. Lol
GREAT READ!! A real page turner. Exciting from the beginning to the end. Love the bond the sisters had and the way it tied in to THE LAST KINGS. Don't look past this book I'm telling you, you want be disappointed.
This book was awesome. From start to finish. I can't believe I had this book on my shelf for 2 years and never picked it up to read until now. I'm glad I did
Slow at the beginning, but ended good. I started on this book 1st & ended up reading 2 other books before I came back to this book. But it ended up a good book at the end.
