Powerful Stories of Women in the Bible that Reveal God's Mercy and Love

From well-known women like Eve and Esther to those lesser known like Jochebed and Zipporah, women of the Bible play a vital role in God's timeless story of redemption.

This book traces the stories of three dozen of the most important women in Scripture, each handpicked by God to play a crucial part in his gracious plan for all humanity. Every chapter begins with a short biography followed by an explanation of how each woman fits into the overall narrative of the Gospel message, pointing to God's love for the individual as well as his larger plan to redeem sinners through the sending of his son. The Bible is the story of God's relationship with his people--men, women, Jews, Gentiles, saints, and sinners. But this book reveals that it's also the story of his relationship with you.

This book contains 31 individual chapters focusing on different women throughout the Bible from Eve to Mary Magdalene. Each chapter includes scripture references, biography, role in redemption, by the numbers and things we wondered. By the numbers gives information such as how many Bible verses that mention that particular woman, Bible books where she is mentioned and a few other details. Things we wondered includes questions related to the women, in the case of Eve, the questions included, What did Adam and Eve use to sew fig leaves together? and How many children did Eve actually give birth to? I thought the questions aspect at the end of each chapter was fairly interesting, as it brought up some questions that I have actually never thought about before.

Overall, I thought this was a very interesting book that contained a great deal of information about many different women throughout the Bible. Some of the women mentioned aren't even very well known women from the Bible, such as The Bleeding Woman who reaches out and touched Jesus's robe because she knows it will heal her. I learned quite a bit of information from this book that I hadn't previously noticed while reading the Bible. It is a book I would certainly recommend to anyone interesting in further studying the women in the Bible, whether well known or not so well known.

Thank you to the publisher, Bethany House Publishers, for sending me a review copy of this book.

The Bible is full of stories about women who changed the lives around them in profound ways. The authors has chosen 31 women that have amazing stories filled with love and faith. Each chapter begins with a quote that will tie in with the subject. The authors share the scriptures that they pulled the story from. Then they give a brief biography about the lady. The chapter ends with two sections - By the Numbers and Things We Wondered. The numbers section shares information such as how many children the leading lady had, how many miles to cities mentioned, how old she was, or other pertinent information. The last section is unanswered questions that reading about this lady brought to the author's minds.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well laid out, full of information, and well written. The writing flowed well and wasn't bogged down with the tiny details, since these were shared at the end. I loved the concept of pulling important women from the Bible and showcasing their role in history. This book would work well for a women's small group as well as for personal devotions.

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House. All thoughts expressed are my own.

The Most Important Women of the Bible by Aaron and Elaina Sharp, focuses on 32 different women in the bible. It shows us the strength these women had to live in the time that they did. This book also tells us about the men in the women's lives and how they affected them, such as Tamar and Bathsheba.
The books is suggested to be used as a devotional or a Bible study, but I enjoyed reading it just to learn more about the women in the Bible. I like how the authors used only Bible scripture to give the reader the biography of each woman and then tells of her role in redemption. I also enjoy the little touches of humor the authors write into the book, such as wondering what Elizabeth's reaction was when Zechariah was not able to speak. I would recommend this book to anyone who longs to learn more about the women in the Bible.
I received a copy of this book from Bethany House. This is my honest review.

The Most Important Women of the Bible is magnificent. As a woman I couldn't wait for a book like this to come out to read up more on - the women in the Bible – the good and the bad – starting of course with Eve. It gives you the Scripture verses first to look up, then it gives you their biography and boy did they tell you a lot of information that I didn't know on some of these women. Then they tell you their role in redemption next after that the authors go into the "numbers" for instance – for Eve – they say "quote Bible verses that name Eve by name – 4 " then they go into "things we Wonder "– IE "what did Adam and Eve sew the fig leaves together with ?". Now isn't that awesome ? – You should get this book, it is very interesting and worthwhile. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

I am reviewing a copy of The Most Important Women Of the Bible through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:

In this book we learn about women in the Bible and the role they played in God’s redemption of humanity.

We learn Of Eve the first women, and the first sinner, and of Sarah, as Abraham’s wife God included Sarah in his promises intending that she be the mother of his descendants.

We learn too of Tamar the jilted daughter in law. As a Canaanite she seems to be an unlikely tool. And we learn of Jochebed the disobedient slave. She was the mother of Moses

Zipphorah was the wife who saved her family. Zipphorah was one of seven daughters called Jethro who was also called Reuel. Jethro was a shepherd and a priest of Miriam as well as a Cushite. He was a spiritual leader of the branch of the Midianites.

We learn to of Rahab, a prostitute in the city of Jericho. Instead of turning the spies that were staying at her inn over to the king she helped them. Despite the fact that Rahab was a prostitute and a Caanite, God used her.

Deborah was a strong and faithful women, who wore many different hats, she was a prophetess, a judge, a poet, a military leader, a judge and a historian. We learn to Of Ruth, a faithful foreigner. She was known for her loyalty and kindness. After the death of her husband she stuck by her Mother in law. Naomi was looked at as the bitter mother in law. Despite the hardships and bitterness God blessed Naomi.

Hannah was an infertile woman. But after praying to God she conceived and bore a son named Samuel. We learn to Of Bathsheba the adulteress. Bathsheba was torn between her husband and her king.

The Widow Of Zarepath, The widow announces to Elijah of her belief in the living God. We learn to of The Women Of Shunem. She lived during the time of Jehoram King of Israel which was around 850 B.C.

We learn to of Queen Esther, she was a beautiful and desirable woman. Esther had been raised by her cousin Mordecai. She found favor with the king despite being a Jew and married him, allowing her to help save her people. Gomer was a Harlot, the wife of a prophet had become an adulteress.

Mary the Mother Of Jesus, of course was used by the Holy Spirit to bring Jesus in the world. Elizabeth was the Mother Of John the Baptist, Jesus cousin, and forerunner to Christ. Elizabeth was the wife of a righteous man but was righteous as herself as well.

Anna was a prophetess. The daughter of phanuel of the tribe of Asher. Anna was an older women and a widow.

Mary Magdalene is mentioned several times in the Bible, but not much is known about her. Magdalene most likely refers to her home town of Magdala, located on the west side of the Sea of Galilee. Mary was known to travel with Jesus.

Mary and Martha were sisters. While Martha did all the serving, Mary spent the time with Jesus which made Martha mad, but Jesus tells that Mary is doing the right thing by listening to Jesus.

We learn to of the women at the well. We learn that the woman had an immoral lifestyle but she took the time to offer Jesus water from the well. We learn too of the bleeding women who was healed by simply touching the edge of Jesus robes. It was her faith that allowed healing.

We learn too of The Syrophoenician woman, she is not one of the most popular women in the Bible, so not much is known about her accept that she was a beggar. We are reminded too of the poor widow who gave all she had two mites.

The Widow Of Nain who lost her husband as well as her son. We learn too of the woman sinner, a woman forgiven of many sins. And we learn too of Tabitha the resurrected women. When Tabitha died her family washed her body and laid it in an upper room and Jesus was able to come and resurrect her. Phoebe was a generous servant, she was the servant of a church in Corinth.

Lois and Eunice were women of sincere faith. We learn about them in a roundabout way through the Apostle Paul. We learn to Of Lydia the women who planted churches. And of Priscilla the apologist, she along with her husband Aquila are mentioned six times in the New Testament, in four Different books.

I give The Most Important Woman Of the Bible, five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Thank you Bethany House for the chance to review this book. This book was very different than I expected.

I love studying women of the Bible. Some of my favorite women's Bible studies have been when we take a woman each week and look at her role in scripture, what we can learn from her, what she learned about God, or how the Lord used her for His glory, and how her story fits into God's plan for redemption or show's His love. So when this book was listed as an option to review, it was an easy choice for me.

I'm not sure what I expected, but this was very different. Different doesn't mean bad, it just was not what I expected. I think I was imaging story telling, bringing to life the setting and time of each woman, and their role in their 'story' or book of the Bible. That's not what this is. This is a non-fiction commentary of each of the women researched.

The common theme of the 31 women featured is that each character in the Bible has either looks for God's plan of redemption as prophesied that Jesus was coming or looks back to how Jesus work on the Cross redeemed each of us. The authors want to make these women come alive and not just two dimensional women in the Bible.

The approach I appreciated, and will keep this book on my shelf, as a tool when I study the Bible.

Each woman is named, and then given a title to help clarify her role in the Bible. So Eve, the first sinner, Mary, the Mother of the Messiah, ... then there are some less obvious, but helpful titles, the woman of Nain, the recipient of Compassion. I loved this. And it makes me think, if I were to be talked about and summarized for my view of eternity, and God's redemption and love, what would my subtitle be?

Then each woman is logically described with the following format:
a quote from a commentator or preacher about her.
Scripture Reference
Biography
Her role in redemption
By the numbers (and this to the Mom of math loving, statistic kids is neat!) it might tell you how many husbands, children, or it might share how many miles from city to city in the story, or how long she suffered, how many unclean people like her, or a rule from the law, but these really enhance the concepts and role of redemption.
Things we wonder (higher level thinking- what we don't know...)
I did the suggested plan and read about one woman for 31 days. Another suggestion is to use these women for a Bible study group and I think it would bring about great discussion, and help seeing how intricate God's plan of redemption is, even to some lesser named people in the Bible, God's plan is always there.

This book is fact based with the narration of the authors thinking aloud as to how the facts of each woman show God's redemptive plan, or how Jesus would have approached her with the customs or teaching of the law, and some personal connections as to how the authors apply their knowledge to their own faith and living.

It's an easy read, but by no means lacking descriptive imagery in the detailed setting, history, analysis of the emotions, character development and relationships, etc. It would be a fun book to help teaching about these passages, and I can see tween on up being able to appreciate the insight and grasp the model of interpreting what the Bible shares and how that demonstrates God's plan of redemption for all man kind. It's a great meta-cognitive work of bringing to life each of these 31 women's roles for us. And the teacher in me, would find it fun to ask others to take people not mentioned here, and write our own stories for them mirrored after this book.

Thank you Bethany House for introducing me to a new way to study the Bible and a model of thinking about these women. It encouraged my heart and mind beyond my expectations and I love that I learned a new perspective of God.

I stumbled across this book last fall and knew it was something I was interested in reading. I mean, let's face it, depending on the denomination of Christianity you practice determines the role that women play in your faith and in your church. Some churches are more conservative where women don't hold positions of power while other's embrace women ministers. I'm not open to debating which is right or wrong so there's that. The thing is, women do hold a place in our faith. God used women, sometimes in large roles (Deborah as an Old Testament Judge) or Mary (mother of Jesus), and sometimes in lesser roles such as many women who carried great significance but yet we never learn their names. As a female, regardless of my personal belief system, at the end of the day it doesn't matter if I am a great leader in my faith or a footnote in the path of someone else's faith, my contribution matters; sometimes more than a males.

My desire, need, to read this book clashed with my ability to read this book. I started reading so many times for something to come up to prevent me from getting more than a chapter in. It became a frustration that eventually I just back burner-ed the book thinking I'd get to it. . .eventually. Perhaps it was a gentle 'meant to be' moment more than a failure on my part to invest in this book. Perhaps I needed to read about the importance of women in the Bible to remind me of my importance in the now, not a year ago but now while I am struggling. I took solace in the women who are never named for their contribution to my faith. I felt pride at the way that women, who had so much less opportunities then than we do now, made the most of their position and lead others forward toward God. I felt strengthened and somewhat redeemed as I buried myself into the faith and belief of those who have gone before me. I believe those false starts at reading this book were meant to be and that now was the right time. Yes, it might have sat on my Net Galley shelf for entirely too long but I think there is reason for that so I can't find it in my heart to apologize for that.

The only drawback for this book for me was probably minor but for me it was distracting. Each woman was given with her biography, her role in redemption, by the numbers, and things we wondered scattered with commentary of other great Biblical scholars and historians. Sometimes I got bogged down in too much, what felt to me, irrelevant information in the first two sections. Other times, I wish there was more. The by the numbers was interesting. Sometimes they made me smile (like Eve with the number of talking snakes encountered) and other times I found myself skipping them as they felt redundant and/or irrelevant. I could add a question or two to the things we wondered section but I really enjoyed that as well. All in all I truly enjoyed this book, this journey to learn more about 31 women that had a significant role in my faith and the Bible; even if they may have only garnered a verse or two. This list of women is not all inclusive but it is all empowering.

The Most Important Women of the Bible is a fantastically written study about women of the Bible. The book focuses on 31 women; Eve, Rahab, Gomer, Mary & Martha, are just a few examples of the women. Readers might be surprised that not every important woman isn’t mentioned (Miriam and Rebekah are a few examples) but many are from stories that we’ve read over and over. Some are even stories that I’m sure I’ve read, but only glazed over.

This would easily make a fantastic devotional or a Bible study. You can use this book individually or as a group. I personally used it as a mixture of a devotional and a Bible study, reading about one woman a day.

Each chapter focuses on one of the women, keeping it informative and short. References as to where to read their stories are always given at the beginning of each chapter. The authors really make their readers dig into the Scriptures. The book also explains how God used each of the women for His glory and a different, yet theological and sound approach, to what might have been going through the woman’s head at the time. I also found myself learning something new about many women that I’ve studied a ton about. Eve is an example of these women.

I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who longs to deepen their Bible studies.

The Most Important Women of the Bible is an interesting study of 31 women of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Many of the women are well known, (e.g. Eve, Ruth, Esther, and Mary) and many are lesser known, yet just as fascinating, (e.g. Jochebed, Gomer, The widow of Nain, and Lydia).

It is exciting to learn how God chose to use these women for His good, and to examine how He is using us, as well.

Some of the stories are not clean and neat, so to speak, in that even those who don’t necessarily do ‘good’ are used for the good, according to God’s purpose. Tamar is a good example. She was devious and desperate, yet God used her, and she ultimately became an ancestor of Christ.

As an organizational freak, I love how this book is structured. Each woman’s chapter is systematically arranged with a quote, Scripture references, her biography, her role in redemption, a section titled By the Numbers, listing how many sons, husbands, etc. the woman had, and questions that remain.

This is a wonderful learning tool for women’s or girl’s groups, to inspect the lives of women in the Bible and the roles they played.

We all know stories of women in the Bible, and are familiar with the more popular ones. There's so many lessons that can be gleaned from each one. In this book, Aaron and Elaina Sharp take the most important women in the Bible, and share their stories and then point you to their role in the bigger picture--God's plan of redemption. They don't just write about the popular ones like Sarah, Ruth, Esther, Mary, etc.; they also write about the more obscure or unpopular women suchas, Rahab, Zipporah, Bathsheba, the Woman Sinner. We can learn from each woman and the choices they made. Because just like we aren't perfect, neither were the women mentioned in the Bible. They were human just like us, and despite their faults God chose to use them in some way.

I really enjoyed this study. I loved how it was laid out in 31 short chapters making it perfect for a devotional. I learned things I never knew before about women I've heard of, but may have just passed over before. Each chapter has a short synopsis of the woman's story in the Bible, the passages where you can find her story, and her role in the plan of redemption. I love how at the end of each chapter there are questions for you to ponder. I loved each and every chapter, and I highly recommend it to all Christian women.

The Most Important Women of the Bible
Remarkable Stories of God's Love and Redemption
By Aaron Sharp and Elaina Sharp

The Most Important Women of the Bible covers the lives and key moments of 31 different woman who can be found in the Bible. These women are found in both the Old and New Testaments. Some have entire books carrying their names such as Ruth and Esther. Others are known only by their location of residence or their societal status. Some were Jewish while others were Gentile. But they all had one thing in common God felt that they were important to His story.

Overall this is an interesting book. I like how each chapter opens with a quoted statement about each featured woman and then the Scripture reference that they are found in. A short biography follows with a how they are important in the plan of humanities redemption.

If you are someone who likes to read a devotional a day this book would be perfect for a month-long study. Another possibility is for this book is a group Bible study that meets once a week or month where several of the women would be discussed at one time. I highly recommend this book for, however, you plan to read through it. This would also make a nice gift for anyone who enjoys reading and studying the Bible.

I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher Bethany House with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Most Important Women of the Bible: Remarkable Stories of God's Love and Redemption is a non-fiction Christian book by Aaron and Elaina Sharp. As the title suggests, the book focuses on the women the authors deem the most important in the Bible along with the reasons why they believe this.

Each chapter is focused on a particular woman. The chapters can each be outlined in this order: the woman's name, a quote about them, verses which reference them, a Biblical biography about them, their impact/reason for importance, controversies about them, numbers that are featured in their stories (number of children, miles between cities, etc.), and unanswered questions of the authors.

The book was informative, featuring thirty-one women and a description of their part in the overall Biblical story. It was interesting to see the diversity of these women; they were everything from prophetesses to harlots, mothers to queens. Many of them were in the lineage of Jesus himself, and others played key roles in the overall Biblical story, in the Old Testament and the New.

This book is not at the level of a serious Bible scholar, with difficult technical language. Instead, anyone can pick up this book and gain a better understanding of the roles of these key women in the Bible. However, because it is not such a deep study, there is a lot more that can be said about each of the women. Still, the book does a good job giving an overview of the women's stories and summarizing some of the controversies about unrecorded details of their lives.

The Most Important Women of the Bible was an informative book that any interested person can easily pick up and read.

I received a free ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited to receive an advanced copy of Ms Sharp's book because I was looking for more information and study regarding the women featured in the Bible. She does a good job of covering a wide range of women both in the Old and New Testaments and well-known women to small characters featured in a couple of verses. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific woman with a description of her story, an account of their "role in redemption" concluding with a "by the numbers" and questions the author wonders about.

I enjoyed the descriptions of each woman's story and I liked the concept of their story being a part of God's road to redemption. Although, I found some of the argument's made for some of the women to be a bit far fetched or forced. I understand the authors end goal but some of women chosen didn't convince me. Parts were very repetitive and a lot of generalizations and assumptions were made like what people were thinking or feeling. I did not like the by the numbers section at the end, it was a clever idea at first but became monotonous as the book moved forward. I also was not a fan of the end questions...how is wondering how Moses' mother accounted for extra laundry relevant? I appreciate the effort and the author's understanding of the scripture.

This book gives a brief overview of 32 women in the Bible who played a role of some kind in God’s redemption of humanity. That doesn't mean they were all in the line of Christ: the book included women like Tamar and Jochebed, and extended past the ministry of Christ to women like Lydia and Priscilla. It was an unusual grouping of women, and I was surprised that certain names (such as Rebekah or Abigail) were left out.

Each chapter was short, with a note of where the women are mentioned in Scripture, a brief biographical sketch, and a slightly longer section on their role in God's plan for redemption. We know very little about many of these women; but I appreciated the authors' scholarship in presenting every known fact that exists, and choosing not to speculate about the unknown. They did, however, offer several questions at the end of each chapter that we could wonder about -- such as, what did Deborah's husband think of her serving as judge of Israel?

Overall, it was an interesting glimpse into women's place throughout God's plan for humanity, and the brevity of the chapters made it easy to read one or two a day. I'd recommend if you like factual considerations (i.e., not historical fiction) of biblical characters!

This book discusses 31 important women of the Bible and how God worked in their lives despite their circumstances.

Each chapter digs deep into character of women we are familiar with and, maybe, some we aren't so familiar with. They start with a quote about the woman and then there are the Scripture references to the woman in the Bible. There is then an in-depth biography about the woman and how God worked in her life and/or used her to further the kingdom. I love that in most of these cases, they woman are quite flawed, yet the Lord used them in mighty ways. At the end of the chapter is a list of things that the author's wonder about the woman. Many cannot be answered but give us something thoughtful to ponder.

Since this book has 31 women, it would make a wonderful devotional for your quiet time. It would also make a great book to cover in a small group. I love how each woman becomes more real and human and the authors did a great job in reminding us that these are real people in real times.

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

This book takes 31 women from the Bible and introduces them to you in a way you may not have ever thought before. Each chapter tells you of a woman and some of the important things you might not have thought of. But it also contains some interesting questions at the end that make you think and wonder and ponder and possibly do a bit of praying as well.

I can only hope and pray that I would react as some of these wonderful women did when adversity comes my way.

Not all of these women are women that I actually remember having read of in the Bible so it was fun to find the scriptures about them and have a read.

I'm not sure how these women were chosen or why some other notable women were not chosen. I like to think maybe the authors wanted to introduce some of the overlooked women of the Bible to us.

Great read and I do recommend it.

This book takes us through the account of 31 different women that are in the Bible, where, how, when they are all mentioned, a bit (and in some cases, all) that is known about them, and what we can learn from their roles they played. We visit Eve, the woman who started it all; Sarah, who laughed at the idea of having a new baby as an old woman; Ruth, the loyal daughter-in-law; Ester the strong queen; Mary, the mother of Jesus; her much older cousin, Elizabeth, who is the mother of John the Baptist. We look at the woman at the well, who was divorced a few times, currently living in sin, yet Jesus befriends her anyway ( He is SO loving!); the widow with only two coins, giving them both to God through the church; and we end with the hardworking Priscilla. There are some many more incredible stories in this book, which is very well written and formatted- each chapter ends with a few bullet point facts pertaining to that woman, as well as a few questions still nagging at the authors.

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, The Most Important Women of the Bible by Aaron and Elaina Sharp is a lemon ginger lozenge. Sweet and tangy, this lozenge soothes the throat. Although used for illness, it's tasty on its own, too.

[free copy received. opinions my own.]

Each of the 31 chapters separates into 5 different sections that analyzes each women from the Bible from a different perspective: Scripture References, Biography, Role in Redemption, By the Numbers, and Things We Wondered. The in-depth look at each of these women opens up a whole lot of questions for the reader.

I really loved getting to know these women in a more detailed way. This book would be ideal for a women's bible study or a month-long devotional. It's also a good starting point for your own research of each of these women.

The Most Important Women of the Bible covers thirty-one women in the Bible.

Each chapter {or Bible character} is very easy to read and understand.  The chapter begins with a short quote and scripture reference.  A biography of the woman is then provided, followed by her role of redemption.  At the end of each chapter are numbers related to the woman and questions we would like to ask her.

This is a wonderful month-long devotional that is very easy to read.  Each chapter can be read in just ten to fifteen minutes and leaves a lot of room for thought and contemplation.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a good Bible Study or is looking to grow in faith and discover more about the women in the Bible.

Aaron and Elaina Sharp have compiled a study selecting 31 women of the Bible; from the well known Eve and Esther to the lesser known Jochebed and Zipporah. Each chapter or study begins with a quote and the scripture reference for the woman of the study. You then will read a biography and learn more about that particular woman of the Bible and her key role. At the end of every chapter, you will find questions that the authors have thought of for you to answer.
This is a well written and informative study that could be used alone or in a group setting for a women's Bible study.
I liked that each chapter is a different woman of the Bible. I also liked the fact that they chose some of the "unknowns" of the Bible with the in-depth biographies of each one.

I love to read about the women in the Bible. Aaron and Elaina Sharp have chosen 32 biblical ladies in 31 chapters. From Eve to Priscilla, they summarize the story surrounding each woman, then share about their "Role in Redemption." I love that they show how each woman played a part in God's ultimate plan of salvation and grace. The authors bring out Bible truths from each woman's story that we can apply to our lives today. I also like that the authors breathe life into some stories that might otherwise be overlooked. The Most Important Women of the Bible would be great for a women's Bible study or a devotional reading. I received this free from Bethany House.

This is a very in-depth look at 31 women of the BIble and their life and their change. I found this book very inspriational and interesting. Along with the women being profiled, bible verses are provided as well as things about the women you may or may not know. Another great feature of this book is the Number reference. This was very captivating and informative. I read this book from cover to cover and was constantly amazed. I for one hope the author will do more book such as this. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

This book focuses on the stories of 31 women in the Bible and the role they played in God's redemptive plan. This book didn't quite hit the mark for me in terms of depth but it does give a great overview of both well know and lesser known woman in the bible. It is good for both private and group bible study.

I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House Publishing in exchange for an honest review. A favourable review was not required and all opinions expressed here are my own.

I really enjoyed this one, there were several women I didn't even know about, so I learned quite a bit. I appreciated that the authors listed all Bible-mentions of each woman in her chapter, as well as her biography and role in the Bible. I found the "By The Numbers" section pointless, though found value in the section where the authors asked questions they wondered about, which were not answered in the text.

It was an awesome book. Great for any woman's group or bible Study.

It talked about women who we know from reading the Bible and their stories more in depth from what the Bible reads.

Each woman had an adversity or an issue, but, when God Stepped in or spoke His word became true and that through His help we as women should understand that He isn't a God who wants to hurt us but to help us.

I was hoping this book would be empowering, but the descriptive tone came across as patronizing. The biographical sections could probably have been replaced by the biblical analysis section, "Role in Redemption," and then a more thought provoking biblical commentary could have been made.

This book contains 31 women of the Bible. I will read each one of them individually. Sadly this book wasn't for me. After reading the first chapter thats all it took for me to know I wont be reading it to the very end. It does sound like a good book though.

DNF!

I enjoyed this book, as it bought up a lot of ideas I hadn't even noticed before. Especially enjoyed the "things we wondered" questions at the end of each chapter!
