Not bad overall, but it was definitely a book where I was reading to the end for the plot, not for the characters or the romance thread.

When I saw the endorsement on the front cover of this book, I knew I wanted to read it. How could I not when it’s touted to “rival a John Grisham novel”?
I wish I had a bunch of positive things to say about this book, but I cannot pretend I enjoyed it. This is an extremely difficult review to write, because I dislike being negative about any author’s hard work. I know how many hours and emotions and commitment go into writing a novel, and I appreciate the passion and effort and time that go into every book I read, even those that weren’t a good fit for my reading taste.

Not two chapters in, I was disappointed by the predictability of this story. That trend continued throughout, only truly surprising me twice in over 300 pages. The plot, which had great potential, seemed simplistic with not much suspense or action driving it.
The inconsistencies in three of the four POV characters made them difficult to root for. I wasn’t sure if Kate was a rookie lawyer or seasoned. She seemed to have earned a respectable and accomplished reputation, yet she was so naïve, unpracticed, and emotional that it seemed like this was her first case. She also claimed to have depression, but there were no signs in her thoughts or actions to prove it. Ethan claimed to be leveraging his friendship with Kate to win the case, but he waffled on remaining her friend or using her throughout the entire book. Landon claimed to be most concerned about Kate’s safety, but he was quick to relent on his normal security protocols when she asked him to. That behavior made me question whether or not he was actually an Army Ranger in his past. Those guys have to be decisive and in control, but the Landon I got to know throughout the story was weak and confused and not able to stand up to his client to do what was in her best interest where her safety was concerned.
Nicole was the strongest of the four POV characters, and I don’t have much complaint about her, except that she was barely given any page time for how strong a character she was. Were she the lead, I would have enjoyed this story much better, because she was a gal I could get behind and cheer for. She had strength and a great moral code, yet still had doubts about her abilities that she fought to overcome. Nicole was my favorite part of this book and the only completely positive aspect of it for me.
Since this book has been compared to John Grisham’s, his were what I weighed it against. This story fell flat for me, after having read over a dozen of Grisham’s. Deadly Proof was predictable and had major inconsistencies. About half of the book was repeated information. For example, Landon had a conversation about security with Cooper, then in the very next scene, Landon conveyed the same information (nearly word for word) to Kate. This type of thing happened over and over again. Another thing that really bothered me was how slow the legal side of the story was. Eighty percent was focused on the discovery phase and the junk documents that were handed over. There were inconsistencies on who the client was. Most of the time, it was a class-action suit. On several occasions, though, Kate suddenly began talking about how her client was a single woman rather than the earlier stated masses. I understand they were beginning the bellwether trials with only one case in order to see if they could further pursue a class-action suit, but even after that was decided, Kate talked about her clients being both the entire group affected by the medication and the widow whose case was up first. Shouldn’t she know which client or clients she was fighting for?
Why didn’t Kate ever include any of the other lawyers on the committee for which she wanted to be named lead counselor? I didn’t understand why this committee was even necessary if Kate never intended to be a team player. That made her seem hypocritical, by the way, considering she demanded all her associates to be team players when she, in fact, was not one herself. What happened to the trial? There never was one. I still don’t understand that, after having finished the book. Also, why was the bad guy willing to kill in the early chapters, then chose to use petty harassment throughout the rest of the book? It seemed like two different MOs to me, which made it appear like there were two different “enforcers,” which I knew from the beginning was incorrect due to the predictability I already mentioned. It turned out to merely be another inconsistency.
Due to all of the above, plus more, this book was hard for me to invest my emotions or time into. When compared to a Grisham novel, this book was significantly less complex and the characters drastically less developed. The overall presentation was belittling to the reader. An example is that several times supposedly intelligent characters asked really dumb questions simply to allow the lead to explain legal terms that anyone who had been on a jury, read a Grisham novel, or seen an episode of Law and Order would already know. Other times, legal terminology was used ad nauseam, which only served to make me feel talked down to rather than invited into the story. Why should I, the reader, be held at arm’s length or even looked down upon simply because I haven’t gone to law school? I’ve read enough legal thrillers and seen enough courtroom dramas to know what litigation, discovery, and bellwether trials are.
Even the faith thread was weak to me. It seemed to only be drawn upon when characters were desperate, yet the characters were then able to solve their own problems without relying on God. I really struggled to understand how the faith was intertwined with the core of who the characters were or the problems they faced.
As you can imagine, this book was a complete miss for me. I won’t be continuing the series, and I’m not eager to attempt another Dylan book. I think I’ll reread a few of my favorites of John Grisham’s instead.
That being said, I am more disappointed than anything about this book. It had an interesting back cover copy, an intriguing cover, and great endorsements. I was really looking forward to it and was hopeful about finding a new favorite legal suspense writer to follow. I’m always on the lookout for good quality books in that genre, because it is one I’ve enjoyed and been fascinated with since I was about twelve years old. That’s why I wanted to give this one a try. I had no idea that I would come away from it feeling like I’d wasted my time. I guess I’m back on the hunt for more quality legal thrillers.

Deadly Proof is book one in the Atlanta Justice series by Rachel Dylan. Do you love to read suspense, romance, and legal fiction then this is the book for you? This a nail biting, edge of your seat kind of book. When you least expect it something else happens to leave you wondering what will happen next. Your anticipation will not be satisfied until you have devoured this book page by page. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion. 5 stars!

Her opposing counsel, a former fellow law student and good friend, Ethan Black, is firmly convinced that she is tilting windmills. When people begin dying, the stakes rise higher and Kate herself is in danger. She finds the smoking gun and suddenly it's life and death. Who is friend and who is foe?
OK. While the legal maneuvers were quite interesting to me, the rest of the book was not. Kate is portrayed as almost saint-like and the manufactured ridiculous instantaneous romance was way over the top. The incessant religious meandering was also annoying (OK I confess -- I didn't know this was in the "Christian" genre when I requested it and would not have had I known. I just skipped those parts and it was a huge chunk of the book. It's not that I'm not religious, it's just that I don't find this to be integral to the narrative and it could have easily been left out to create a tighter story.)
If this is to be a series, I'd suggest leaving a lot of that OUT.
I'm currently really into legal thrillers and suspense from a personal perspective and I liked hearing the trial prep details and the references to filing the case and the motions. In learning mode, I quickly got the impression that the author knew her stuff about that aspect and did find that interesting. The plot is entirely predictable and the characters are paper thin, but I got what I wanted from it overall.

I really enjoyed this legal thriller! Kate was a pleasant character to get to know and I quickly became invested in her effort to stop the bad guys who were knowingly putting bad drugs on the market. There were loads of twists and this case was like peeling back layers of an onion. It kept my brain engaged and the case is well paced.
I loved how layered each other the characters are and how their good and evil impulses are spelled out, so even the side characters are having to make real choices and aren’t completely unrealistic about being all bad/all good.
Now, there are a lot of legal terms and jargon used. I have a coworker who has a law degree and recently explained some about it, so I had a recent explanation of all the terms such as discovery, etc. Knowing that really gave me a greater enjoyment of the story because the legal terms didn’t get in my way.

I have such a book hangover! Stayed up until three in the morning because I could not put Deadly Proof down. So I'm all frazzled nerves and discombobulated brain but valiantly trying to put into words how good this book is. And I don't even like legal thrillers. Mostly because I get so confused by the legal jargon. But Dylan didn't lose me once. She deftly wove layman descriptions into the technical bits so I totally understood what was happening, why certain procedures were so important and boy, did I learn a lot about the legal system. All seamlessly blended in with the suspense and romance.
I am definitely a champion of the underdog and so my emotions were immediately engaged since Rachel is taking on a big chunk of Corporate America -- a disgustingly corrupt pharmaceutical company that deserves to be taken down. Betrayal and intrigue and danger soon follow and then, when Rachel hires on PI Landon things really get interesting.
My toes still haven't uncurled fully. The romance is stupendous. Slow and deliberate, from colleagues to friends to....cue the toe-curling swoons! In fact, Rachel Dylan's style reminds me very much of an early Dee Henderson. Has that same kind of balance and detail, so a reader doesn't feel hurried. It's easy to stay anchored in the moment and just let the story unfold around you.
And I'm thrilled to report that this is the first book in the Atlanta Justice series so there are more compelling reads ahead for us and I can't wait!

My interest was immediately piqued by this author when I saw the cover and read the synopsis. I like a good legal thriller, and I had high hopes for this one.
Unfortunately, this book fell short for me. While I didn't love all the legality, I actually enjoyed those bits more than the other story included with Landon and Kate. Their relationship seemed very contrived, and I would have liked to see more of their life outside the whole case. Whenever there were normal scenes, all their struggles were talked about, but not really shown in any other scenes.
The ending was the most interesting to me, but I wouldn't say it was a shock. Because I wasn't really invested with the story, I never felt any "edge of my seat" sensation during the more intense scenes. It saddened me that I never really cared about any of the characters.
The spiritual content was pretty good, and the romance light. Landon's change of heart seemed rather abrupt. I would have definitely liked to see more of a struggle there! Those who like suspenseful stories with more focus on the legal parts, may enjoy this more than me.

I have to admit, I had very low expectations for this book, so was pleasantly surprised when it was better than I thought.
The story was very different than any I've read before, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Both Kate and Landon were interesting characters and I enjoyed their stories. The legal aspect was interesting and enlightening. I really loved the romance. Sweet and slow, just how I like it.
There were a couple of minor inconsistencies with the characters that bugged me a bit, but like I said, they were very minor. Also, the legelese was pretty intense. I had a hard time understanding what on earth the characters were talking about for a good portion of the book. It's clear Dylan is very knowledgeable on this subject, but for the laymen readers like me, it would have been nice if she had simplified things a little.
All in all, I did enjoy this book, and am interested in reading the next one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this legal thriller! The author made me feel as if I was in a law firm, trying to build a strategy, wade through documents, and work out how to win a case. It felt very realistic. Along with the legal drama, I thought that the suspense and danger were layered into the story nicely.
Overall, I was impressed with the reality of how a law firm works. I could also feel the enormity of power that a huge corporation can wield, especially with the right connections and legal backing. There was a light thread of romance, along with a clear spiritual message. I would definitely recommend this book to those who like reading legal thrillers.

This is my first read from Rachel Dylan, and I was definitely impressed. Page-turning suspense from start to finish, great plot, good characters, and an ending I never saw coming. I particularly liked the courtroom and behind the scenes drama. The premise of a civil lawsuit against a drug company for side effects of a drug was so appropriate for today's happenings. The manipulations and outright lies by the drug company were not the least bit surprising. This was definitely an edge-of-your-seat read, and it's going to be a long wait til the next book comes out in May.
Would definitely recommend to those who like fast-paced suspense involving court cases.

Fast-paced drama keeps the reader glued to the pages, as well as quickly escalating high-stakes legal implications and hard-hitting realistic fiction! The closer the case gets to trial, the more danger lead counsel Kate Sullivan faces. Can she bring a satisfying resolution to court before it’s too late?
I’ve never read a legal thriller/suspense before because the subject never interested me until I had opportunity to read Deadly Proof. I thought; why not give it a try? I’m so glad I did because it’s one I couldn’t put down even if I wanted to! The story keep escalating, keeping me up way too late and bleary eyed the next day. I didn’t regret a moment, though! I loved Kate’s character & connected immediately with her. She’s tenacious & thorough, hard-hitting when she needs to be but soft when situation calls for it, and has a gentle faith and moral compass that guides her decisions. Landon is the perfect hero for her; strong, protective & trying to overcome mistakes in his past. These two hit it off from the start & have a great working partnership. The whole story from the characters to the drama played out in front of you is a superbly engaging read from start to finish. I highly recommend Deadly Proof!

I’ve never read a legal thriller/suspense before because the subject never interested me until I had opportunity to read Deadly Proof. I thought; why not give it a try? I’m so glad I did because it’s one I couldn’t put down even if I wanted to! The story keep escalating, keeping me up way too late and bleary eyed the next day. I didn’t regret a moment, though! I loved Kate’s character & connected immediately with her. She’s tenacious & thorough, hard-hitting when she needs to be but soft when situation calls for it, and has a gentle faith and moral compass that guides her decisions. My thoughts:
Legal thrillers aren't usually my cup of tea. This one gripped me from the first page. I was fascinated with the behind the scenes working of the lawsuit.
I loved Kate's determination to get to the truth. I loved that she wanted justice for her clients. The underhandedness of the defendant was intriguing as well. Because it made wonder exactly how far the corruption went. The dynamic between Kate and Landon was interesting. I wasn't too sure I liked them as a couple, but they did grow on me.
I'm looking forward to the others in this series.

Wow!! My Heart is still pumping rapidly from this action packed legal thriller. I have read every book by this author and this is her best book to date in my opinion. Packed with non stop action and suspense I couldn't put the book down. The heroine was a strong character but had the sweetest heart. I loved that about her. The hero was a handsome former army ranger. He was hired as a private investigator to help in the case against a huge pharmaceutical company. Their romance grew at a believable rate and I felt oh so swoony when he was protecting her. His instinct from the beginning was of protection for her. There were also some twists I didnt see coming. I could go on and on. I loved the book and can't wait for more in this series.

So this is the first legal thriller I've read that has a spiritual angle. The attorney, Kate, goes to church, and talks about her relationship with God to her PI, Landon, who is a battle hardened Iraqi veteran. She's straightlaced, positive, a team player, but racked with depressive episodes and guilt over self-destructive behaviors as a young adult.
Her case is against Big Pharma, something I think we can all stand by. It's also against one of her best friends since her college days, Ethan, who is being twisted by the CEO to play dirty.
I had no idea this genre existed. How refreshing to read about a blossoming love affair that keeps its innocence. The story also reminds the reader about the importance of friendship and forgiveness. Life and love matter. True connections between people are hard to find, and in this book those chains are tested, but the characters show healthy coping skills and talk about their issues. There is basically a happy ending , which also doesn't often happen in legal thrillers. Okay so it's not exactly a "thriller" per se; it's really its own category.

Right from the start, Deadly Proof sets itself up as a very fast-paced book. Events progress quickly, making it easy to be drawn into the story, while the tension increases throughout, culminating in a thrilling end. Deadly Proof is an exciting legal thriller, with threads of friendship, romance, and faith.
Kate Sullivan has just been handed the biggest legal case of her career - fighting for justice against a big pharmaceutical company responsible for the deaths of many people. But when a possible whistleblower ends up dead and Kate herself finds herself being followed and attacked, she will need the help of Private Investigator, ex-Army Ranger, Landon James to pull the pieces of this case together.
Deadly Proof centres around a big legal case and the legal footwork necessary to uncover and obtain justice. This book never shies away from the reality of the legal work involved. While there is a lot of legal jargon and discussions, explanations are deftly woven into the story as the lawyers explain themselves to other characters who have a lesser knowledge of the legal proceedings and therefore help out the readers who are equally unfamiliar with these procedures, while keeping the story moving. Deadly Proof is a fast-paced legal thriller, with plenty of action and tension, as well as romance. The writing style is sharp and effective in this genre, with quick dialog and not a lot of focus on details outside of the immediate action.
Deadly Proof is written from four different points of view. Kate and Landon are the two main characters and have the majority of the chapter time, but sections from the perspectives of Ethan, the lead defence lawyer and one of his associates, Nicole are also included. This allows the reader to experience both sides of the case and build a better understanding of the investigation.
While the ending gives a tidy solution to the story, I thought everything was resolved a little too quickly and easily. I would have like to see it further developed, but it does stay consistent to the fast-paced nature of the rest of the book.
Deadly Proof is the first book in what is set to be an exciting legal-thriller series. There are plenty of characters from this book who would make excellent protagonists in their own story and I am eager to discover what and who the next book in the series will be about.

If you enjoy a read with you heart in your throat, this one will probably do it. You never knew when the next shoe would drop, and just when you feel safe, boom or grab. People are murdered or just disappear, and why, greed seems to be the answer here.
The author kept me on my toes, and I felt like I was reading something that was in the paper, there is often a lawsuit against a drug company, and what drug doesn’t seem to come with warnings?
Surprises abound right up until the end, never would have guessed what happened, and add to that a bit of romance. A real page-turner here, I wasn’t able to put this one down, I had to know the ending!

Deadly Proof is book one in Atlanta Justice series. Rachel Dylan has another winner. She did not disappoint. I caught myself trying to read faster to see what was going to happen next. Deadly Proof is one of those legal thrillers that when you start you do not want to put it down . Dylan had me on the edge of my seat all through the book. She kept me guessing till the end. The story and the characters both were well developed. Kate Sullivan is an attorney and she has been chose for lead council to take on Mason Pharmaceutical, a certain drug is highly dangerous. The life of a sixteen year old girl was taken . Kate wants to help the family and others too come. Action is around every corner , no where is safe. Landon is trying to keep Kate safe, but it is hard. People are being killed and disappearing. Can Kate and her team get the information they need to prove their case? I really liked Landon, he is my kind of hero. Trying to keep Kate safe is a big order, can he do it?

I find it fascinating to read about the inner workings of legal procedures as a case comes to trial. It doesn't matter if the main story is about the prosecution's side or that of the defendant. It is interesting. Of course, I don't understand the terms being used, but the author's ability to write about how information is gathered and presented and what is and is not allowed in court is certainly evidenced in Deadly Proof as practicing attorney and author Rachel Dylan takes us into the world where pharmaceutical research and marketing meet the road with attorneys and judges.
I live in an area that has several major pharmaceutical research and development companies. These are mega corporations with global marketing. I have known marketing people and research scientists personally in some of these companies. There are also a couple of major research hospitals in our area and these play a major role in the development of cutting edge medicines that are marketed by these global corporations. I can see a situation such as the one fictionalized in Deadly Proof easily a reality.
As author Rachel Dylan weaves this story of corporate greed, medical travesty, and thrilling legal expertise the depth to which corporate greed and criminal intent can go lead the reader through scenes terrifyingly rife with nail-biting realism.
Touched by a bit of romance that softens the harshness of a world gone bad, the book concludes on an uplifting and joyful note.

This book got off to a bit of a slow start for me. Not sure why, but it took me a few days of light reading...then I was hooked!
Once the hook was in, the book went with us while running all errands...even if I might only get a page or two read. That night, I just couldn't put it down, the hook kept me up till 1:30 AM ( no I didn't fight that hook hard, no point! ). Both sides of the case are shown here, which isn't common in this genre. Not sure if I always want to know both sides, but it was a refreshing change from the legal thrillers I've read. I liked Kate, and as the tension builds, I just had to find out who really was behind the need for protection. So much about this book was realistic...other parts not so much. It would require spoilers to explain so not gonna say, besides you might not find that to be true.
I truly enjoyed this read, can't wait for the next from this author, and it definitely earned a spot on my forever shelves!! This is one of my favorite genres, and this book was well done. I also learned somethings that had never been mentioned in other legal fiction reads. I love learning!
So...go out and buy this read! Definitely worth your time and money. I have someone in mind who will love this as a gift! :)

This is a fairly fast paced, well written, suspenseful legal thriller with a light touch of romance. The legal terms are well explained for those who aren't familiar with legalese and it was interesting that we got to read about both sides of the case. I think it added to the drama of the whole story line.
I liked how Kate had such a strong work ethic along with a compassionate heart for the people she is trying to get justice for. It is encouraging that in spite of her personal issues she keeps her faith and isn't afraid to share it. When the suspense and danger increase, former Army Ranger turned private investigator Landon James is the perfect hero to provide security and romance for Kate. In spite of his own personal struggles, he is a strong support for Kate.
Although this book is well written, I found the wording a little over-descriptive at times and I think personally, I just wasn't all that interested in the lawyer/legal process aspect of this book. Great read! I enjoyed the fast paced action, combined with legal drama. The author brought some interesting legal concepts to the story but didn't bore the reader with too many details. The suspense moved the story along with several twists to keep the reader intrigued. I liked that the romance aspect wasn't overdone, but played out perfectly throughout the story. I'd recommend this book, and I plan to read the sequel.

I like lawyer novels, but so many of them have content I don’t care for. This book was refreshing for it’s thrilling, but clean content.
Characters: .75/1
The characters were all well-rounded, though some things that happened or that they did were fairly predictable. My favorites were Kate and Landon, but they were also the most developed characters. The minor characters were slightly developed, but didn’t have a lot of depth to them.
Dialogue: 1/1
Having never been to a law office or anything to do with the law, I can only assume the author knew what she was doing and saying in her book. That being said, I thought the dialogue was realistic, funny, and never stilted.
Plot/storyline: .75/1
There were both good and bad plot twists. The good ones I didn’t see coming, but there were more than I did see coming. The storyline itself was good. I would have liked to see Kate and Landon’s relationship developed perhaps a little more than it was from feelings and physical attraction. Even so, their romance was probably one of the more realistic I have read in a while.
Overall Writing Quality: .5/1
Apparently I am becoming a writing critic because there were a few times I thought to myself, ‘That could have been written better.’ Overall, the book was good, but in a few places, to was only so-so.
Un-put-down-ability: .75/1
Were there times I couldn’t put it down? Sure. Like the entire last half. The first half didn’t have as much excitement happening, so it was easier to put down.
Conclusion: 3.75/5
If you like John Grisham’s plots, but not the language and sexual content, I highly recommend this book. It got a lower rating due to the writing quality which was good, but for a traditionally published book, I expect more, so I’m a little pickier about things.

The Deadly Proof Is in the Reading Pudding— It's a Winner
Legal thrillers can be either too over-dramatized to be believable or too full of legal mumbo jumble to be enjoyable. Rachel Dylan, however, is more than just a former lawyer, she’s a top-notch author. With just enough action and intrigue to keep the pace ever-increasing and the right balance of characterization and expert research, this book grips you from the first page and leaves you collapsed in a book-drunk stupor at the end.
I cannot believe I’m saying this, as a self-professed non-romantic, but I have to say that once the romance plot got going, it fell flat for me. Just a bit too cliched, if you will.
Still, since it isn’t the primary focus of the book, and since I loved all the characters, it really didn’t detract from the story. However, true romantics might be disappointed—a little.
My other top complaint would be that sometimes the more spiritual elements appeared more preachy than natural. Still, I almost forgot about that by the end of the book, so it obviously wasn't too bad or I would have been harping all the way.
For those who want to know if it’s easy to “figure out” what’s going on in the book, I’ll say that I figured it all out rather early, BUT… she had one red herring near the end that made me doubt for a bit. This shouldn’t be considered a negative thing for her. I usually do figure these things out. Making me doubt shows that Dylan is a good writer!

Wow! I was so impressed as I read this book with Ms. Dylan’s knowledge of the legal system. I learned more about corporate law than I ever realized was there, from both the plaintiff side of the aisle and the defendant side. The strategies were intricate, some stealthy but always intriguing. The book sent me on a roller-coaster of emotions. I read a LOT of suspense and I felt that this one ranks right up there with some of the best I’ve read. The “twist” at the end completely surprised me (and that’s ALL I’m going to say about it!) I’m looking forward with great anticipation to Book 2! I wonder if Ms. Dylan will be telling Mia’s story, Sophie’s story, Cooper’s story, Noah’s story or even Ethan’s story? OR, maybe she’s bringing in someone altogether new! Can’t wait to see!

I enjoy a hint of suspense, but when I realized that this book was set at a law firm and the storyline was primarily legal, I wasn't so sure I would enjoy it. I am happy to say that I was dead wrong (as my rating hints). I thoroughly enjoyed this read! It was very educational without making me feel like I was reading something completely out of my element. I actually enjoyed everything with the court cases and found the information very creatively woven throughout the entire story.
Kate was a character to just fall in love with. She was sincere, honest, and above reproach. She was a Christian who lived what she believed and wasn't ashamed of her faith and prayer life. Her character made this book sing "Christian"--something that the publishing world is seriously lacking.
I was curious how things would end up with Landon. He had a dark past and it was glorified, but neither was it too open. Ms. Dylan dealt with his past in a very discreet fashion. Also, the theme with, "I've lost interest in God, He deserted me" kind of had me wrinkling my nose. It seems to be a common theme in today's fiction, but I really appreciated how it was handled in this book.
So, just discussing these two characters, I don't even have to make it a point to discuss the spiritual aspect of this book. Very well done.
The romance, also, wasn't too overbearing. Because so much of the book was wrapped around the case, there was just hints of romance sprinkled throughout the book. The one "main kiss" mentioned was about half a page, but other than that, it was over-the-top with emotions and feelings.
In conclusion, I finished this book with a "wow." It was engaging, thrilling, clean, and totally satisfying.

The story combines romantic suspense and a well
written legal thriller into one that the reader will
want to read in one sitting.

This book is such a wonderful fast-paced legal thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what was going to happen next. Kate Sullivan is a partner in the plaintiff's firm of Warren McGee, and has been working on a case involving a pharmaceutical company (MPC) that manufactured a migraine pill that causes brain tumors in patients. MPC will go to any lengths to come out on top of this case, up to and including murder. I enjoyed this book so much I was actually reading parts of it to my husband, who also got involved in it. I can't remember the last time I read such an exciting thriller.

This was my first Rachel Dylan legal suspense, and it won’t be my last.
I enjoyed all the legal facts, for example the discovery, which is usually a big part of a trial, was realistically portrayed. The suspense and danger give the reader the feeling that someone wants something to be hidden, to reveal small evidence of what it could be, keep the danger and pace fast.
The side characters also faced a few ethical challenges in trying to do everything to win their case, versus being ethical.
Kate’s struggle to also keep a friendship but doing what was right also felt realistic.
I enjoyed this legal suspense and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I'm not really sure how it escaped my notice upon requesting this book that it was a legal-thriller, but somehow it did, so that was a bit of a surprise upon beginning the story. ^.^
While I generally don't read a lot of legal suspense novels, I didn't hate this one. There were times when I felt a little lost because of the legal-setting/speech etc. but it wasn't terrible for me.
Somebody who enjoys this genre won't be lost at all.
There are two female characters that I literally couldn't tell apart for the first 3rd of the book, and had to reread a couple of parts because I realized I read it thinking it was one character when it was actually another...they didn't have distinct different personalities. But that could just be me.
The story revolves around fighting for a case against a big pharmaceutical company, and the court case surrounding that. It was interesting. I wanted to see how it would end, and what transpired with the characters. But for me, it was kind of just watching a Leverage episode, and I pretty much knew the outcome.
The romance wasn't my favourite, but it was there.
For me, "Deadly Proof" was just an okay book - not my favourite, but I really don't have any major complaints about it, and I know it could be a favourite among many! For me it just wasn't my favourite genre and therefore not really a "me" type of book. :) Totally a matter of preference.
