My daughter asked me to read these with her and I was really entertained. The series is well written and they are a blessed tool for partnering with Christian parents.
In general, I enjoyed reading this book. My daughter really loved the collection (and in fact has read three of the collections).
My only issue came with the emphasis on Jason's need to be medicated for his ADHD. I understand that connections were trying to be made for children who might 'suffer' from the similar problems but to me it seems like Jason is a little boy acting like a little boy.
As a homeschool family, the emphais on pubic school was also a bit off putting but with most children attending public school, I completely understand. I just wish more authors would write about homeschooled children.
I absolutely love these books! Although I am an adult, I think that kids of all ages can enjoy and learn from them. I loved the Christmas one especially, and I liked cracking the Morse Code! Very well done!
H (7) says: I like it because there's this group that gets together at different houses. Abby does all these surprising things for her family. I was surprised that they were acting weird when they got brothers instead of sisters in the first book.
Some of the books in the collection were really sweet and fun, other books I had to heavily "edit" as I read. One book focused around a child's need for ADD meds and another around a divorced family situation.
Great books for kids!! I loved the Christian influence and my 6 year old son could relate to the situations while still reading the book himself!! HIGHLY recommend!!
