Oh, my goodness, this was a hard book to read. But let me back up first.
~
I’ve said it in a few of my BookTube videos, that while this book has been on my anticipated reads list for 2017, I’ve also been insanely nervous about reading it and learning what happened to Nikki’s sister.
I liked meeting Jordan (who is of African American and Brazilian roots, so yay for diversity!) and Garrett, but their romance sprinkled into a book about a serial killer and murders of young teen girls did seem a bit odd at times, but I understand trying to lighten the situation.
It was a heavy topic though. I don’t want to discount that at all. It’s pretty easy to say “Oh, that’s fiction. Distance yourself [from the emotions].”, but unfortunately, it happens in real life so it’s a very serious storyline. Those sensitive to the topics discussed in this book should probably stay away.
The age-old discussion of where is God when bad things are happening was the majority of the Spiritual Content, but I loved how the author wrapped that conversation up at the end with the problems of sin in the world.
So overall? This wasn’t an easy book to read. I love seeing things all happy and rosy in fiction, and while this whole series definitely showed more of the sin in the world, but it had Hope in every book. Which is just why I stay to Christian Fiction suspense and not secular suspense; for the message of the Hope we have in the Lord.

His first week on the job, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Agent Garrett Addison is sent to investigate a murder. He and his team quickly realize that sixteen-year-old Julie Kerrigan may be the latest in a string of related murders. With a possible serial killer on the loose, they call in the FBI for help. Special Agent Jordan Lambert returns to her hometown of Nashville to help with the case. She is surprised when she sees that Garrett is working the case. She and Garrett had a relationship while they attended the police academy. It came to an end when she left to join the FBI. Now they will be working closely together to catch a killer.

This is the last book in the Nikki Boyd series. It starts out in 2004 when Garrett discovers that his victim is actually the third victim of a serial killer. I was confused at first when Nikki was nowhere to be seen for the first 100 pages. When she finally shows up in the story, it makes sense. Her younger sister was one of the victims of the serial killer. (We know about this from the previous books.) The situation puts Nikki on a career path in law enforcement.

This book is billed as romantic suspense. The mystery was interesting but a little slow moving. It felt like the team would investigate a murder, notify the parents, canvas for witnesses, and come to a halt when there was no evidence for them to follow. This happened several times. The suspense picked up in the last half of the book which kept me involved in the story. The romance portion was problematic. I have to say that the 14 years that this story covered had to be the slowest slow-burn romance in history. Both Garrett and Jordan cared for each other; but were afraid to say anything. Every time Jordan came back to Nashville after a new murder, Jordan would think about what it would have been like if she never left her hometown and stayed in her relationship with Garrett. Of course, she did nothing about it and neither did he. I wanted to scream. Overall, a slow-paced but decent mystery with a boring romance. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

Another exciting book in the Nikki Boyd Files series! This one overlaps the previous books with the backstory of Nikki's sister's abduction, the event that brought Nikki into the police force. The team of officers working the case returns, with the focus on special agents Garrett Addison and his friend, FBI agent Jordan Lambert.

This author is skilled at pulling the reader into the police drama, with all the danger, uncertainty, and frustration in solving a complicated case like the long running serial abduction and murders. There was more of a personal side to this story it seemed, including family relationships, and friendships teetering on romance. The issues of grief and loss, anger, and questions of faith were woven into the story in a natural, genuine way. Pertinent questions applicable to everyday life--such as, where is God when evil takes place--added interesting discussions, and made the characters feel more real.

Recommend to readers who enjoy suspenseful police dramas, with some romance and faith. 4.5 stars

3.5 stars rounded up

This book definitely needs to be read after the Nikki Boyd trilogy even though the events start earlier. The romantic parts are VERY off screen and it felt tragic how long-drawn-out that part was. The story itself is episodic, which gives it more of a feel of a tv miniseries than a regular novel (four crimes connected to the same perp). I liked the uniqueness of this approach, but each episode really did lack details, and I had to know other things about Nikki and her own search for the killer to fill in the blanks. The fourth episode was the best and what convinced me to round up instead of down.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free reading copy. However, my review is based off a final paperback copy I got a good deal on. A favorable review was not required.

READ REVIEW HERE: http://atragicwonderland.blogspot.com...

It's not that the author didn't know what she was doing. It wasn't like there was inappropriate content. It wasn't even that the characters were the problem. They were okay. But still, the story isn't memorable, and I'm having a hard time pinpointing why. WHYYY.

*thumbs up*
the thrill- this was actually very well done. I'm currently taking a Forensics class for science, so we've been discussing a lot of these kinds of investigations and it did make me think in terms of forensics and accuracy. Also, the story is about an investigator searching for a serial killer... IT'S NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN READ BEFORE BED. It was really exciting, just put it that way.

the struggle- there were a lot of mini-conflicts throughout the entire novel because, again, this was an investigation NOTHING is easy. But there was this one big moment where everything just flopped and it seemed really really really really really impossible. It kept me on the edge of my seat, I wanted to know wHaT HaPPEned nEXT IT WAS SO STRESSFUL.

the emotion- this is not a walk in a park, y'all. This is murder, grief, and frustration. This is crime and this stuff is real; the characters in this book were forced to face some pretty devastating events... multiple times. That's just a part of their jobs. But it felt SO REAL. I felt the ache that they felt... I wanted to just give up because I felt hopeless. It's always nice when an author can control the reader's emotions like that :)

*thumbs down*
the struggle- LITERALLY. IT WENT ON FOR ETERNITY. I do believe I aged 30 years by the end of this book. I can understand long conflict because new things come up... but it seemed like they were fighting the same exact fight the ENTIRE novel and I was like... "Ain't this going anywhere???" Nah. Harris drew it out and out and out and... you know, it didn't need to be drawn out like that. I wanted to stop reading because I was just frustrated and bored after half of the book.

the characters- Y'ALL. I DON'T HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF. I LOVE GOOD CHARACTERS. Okay. *deep breath* I was disappointed with these people. They were so... average. They were every character ever and I was so annoyed the entire time. Okay, not the entire time. I DID like how emo Garrett was. He gave the story more dimension with his problems. But Jordan was annoying. She was just... can't explain it. Untouchable, unrelatable, unreal. The story was okay, but these characters kind of made it less okay.

the romance- Talking about annoying characters, let's just take them both and make them have a romance, right? That's a PERFECT IDEA. Dude. *eye roll* The ENTIRE romance was basically like the plot-- just drawn out and tiring and it quickly got boring. Seriously. It was so weak and ridiculous and I'm just done. I'm done. Romance is something I enjoy when it's done tastefully... this was just ?? The easiest way to describe it is this: imagine a fish floundering on land. That was this romance.

Obviously, this wasn't the worst book I've read. Trust me, I've read worse *glares at "never-again" bookshelf on GR*. But honestly? It just didn't meet the cut for me. Sure, I enjoyed the forensic aspect and the excitement (though temporary), but the things that annoyed me REALLY annoyed me, y'know? Like, I could have totally gone without reading it, no problem.

I really was wishing to enjoy it, and I can't say I was suffering through the ENTIRE thing; there were some good moments and vibes... but those only lasted for so long. But hey, I persevered. It's all good. Time to move on in life, aye?

CONTENT WARNING: obviously this is going to have some violence and corpses because it's a serial killer; if you have a weak stomach, I'd advise you not to read this one. Honestly, it got pretty dark and creepy and I felt uncomfortable reading it at night (LOL). Just a heads up, my friends!

And that's all for now. Be chill. Eat Oreos. Laugh at dumb jokes.

Vanishing Point by Lisa B. Harris
My Rating: 2 of 5 bookmarks
Review originally published on www.bookwormbanquet.com

This book threw me a lot. Lisa Harris’s highly acclaimed and reviewed Nikki Boyd series took an unexpected twist on the fourth book. I had high expectations due to the reviews I had read of her previous books. While it was a decent story, it definitely left a lot lacking.

One of the main things that I liked about the story was the plot twist at the end. It was very hard to guess who the actual perpetrator was and when I finally discovered it, I was completely surprised. Another thing was that I really appreciated that the author gave us some insight into the two main characters and gave them both challenging life situations that deepened their characters.

What I didn’t like unfortunately outweighed the good in this book.

The writing seemed very off to me. It was very heavy on the dialogue and very light handed on the description. There was no balance at all and as a result, I thought it read in a confusing and unpolished manner. For instance, a character who had an ambiguous name was not introduced as male or female until ten pages after their introduction to the story. And the dialogue was strange because there were no action tags or descriptions to the way that the character was saying their lines in any way. During some intense and turbulent times in the character's life, it was a constant back and forth dialogue, a lot of telling instead of showing and therefore, there was no hint as to the emotion of the character.

Overall in the story department, it also felt lacking. I believe the writer was trying to fill in details that were missing in the previous books of the series. As a result, the story had a lot of gaps. It jumped from one year, to one later, to two later, and the final jump was an entire decade.

The last thing that bothered me was the relationship between the two main characters. They both clearly liked each other and were in love with each other, but for some reason, they kept telling themselves to let each other go for no reason.

If you are a reader who enjoys the more scary, creepy or intense side of literature, then you may like this book. Or if you are an avid Lisa Harris fan, this may also intrigue you.

Content Warning: Personally, this book took it a bit too far. The suspense was of a more scary/evil nature that left me feeling a little creeped out afterward. Serial killers, murders, descriptions of the dead bodies, the wounds, and the means the killer used to kidnap and kill its victims are mentioned throughout the book. People being shot, killed and explosions also take place.

With this book the author takes an interesting approach to the mystery that's driven the Nikki Boyd series. The book steps back in time to the underlying serial killer question and shows the original investigators wrestling with trying to find answers as young ladies are disappearing around the Nashville area.

Vanishing Point is filled with threads of romance, family challenges, and the race to save the young women before it's too late. While Nikki Boyd is not the primary character, she has more than a small role and allowed me to see how she became the woman she was. I really enjoyed this book which took a retrospective look at the crime that got Nikki Boyd into law enforcement. A great read and a book I would recommend to lovers of romantic suspense. However, if you want your books in sequential order, this one might jar you. I loved it!

This spans the 10-13 years of solving missing/murdered girls cases and follows up with our law enforcement officers from the remainder of the series.

This is primarily told from Garret's perspective. The romance to Jordan took a back seat. We see the struggle our law enforcement has with the cases that stick with them that go unsolved, in this case for years.

The writing seemed a little rushed with some dialogue. This isn't a nitty gritty who dun-it between two partners. However, we do get a satisfying conclusion of the series in the cases and any romance.

Vanishing Point is the fourth book in Harris's Nikki Boyd Files series and I really enjoyed it. It's been a while since I read the previous books, but it didn't take me long to get into this story and I found myself eager to see how things would go.

I liked how it was a realistic story...it took years for any resolution in the case. I was curious who the killer was and mostly figured it out, which I loved. The book had a ton of suspense and the romance was nice. I liked how it was a second chance story.

All in all, Vanishing Point was a great read and I recommend it. I don't think you need to read the previous books in order to enjoy this one.

This book was amazing and I couldn't devour it fast enough and was picking it up every spare second. Despite a non-stop schedule I had this book finished in around 24 hours and it kept me up way later than I intend even though I was exhausted. I loved the three Nikki Boyd novels and the story of the Angel Abducter and what had happened to Sarah had intrigued me immensely. I loved getting to see the case from almost the beginning and even though I knew they wouldn't solve it for many years I was still on the edge of my seat as they chased down leads and raced against the clock. We got some answers in the previous books but with this one we got details in more of a first hand manner and we finally got the whole story with an ending. The story is spread out over the course of more than a decade picking up each time a girl was abducted and leaving off when the case began to grow cold. Initially I wouldn't expect that kind of writing to work but it did and it all flowed brilliantly. It never felt chopped up and it ended and began at the right times.
I really liked both Garrett and Jordan's characters. Garrett had his priorities straight and didn't let money change his values. Instead choosing the hard path that allowed him to actually do good in the world. He was that guy always quietly doing what needed to be done, seeing even unspoken needs, and never wanting any recognition for it. Jordan was extremely smart and hard-working, doing whatever necessary to get a job done. She was very focused on her job but she still had a close relationship with her family that I admired. They had once been in a serious relationship until the FBI called Jordan away and they slowly lost touch. The Angel Abducter case brought them together again but with Jordan living in another state they didn't really get the chance for anything to fully develop between them. But there were definitely moments and it was obvious to everyone around them that they were meant for each other. Unfortunately life and their own stubborness kept pulling them apart. And normally that would drive me a little crazy but the way the author did it made it make sense and it didn't even really bother me.
In short this book was fantastic, wonderfully written, and I absolutely loved it! This is technically Nikki Boyd #4 and I loved reading it after the first one but it also could be read stand-alone or even before the others. But that would take away some of the mystery from those stories. But regardless of what order you choose I just recommend that you go get your hands on them!
I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I selected Vanishing Point to review because it was a Nikki Boyd novel, and I’ve previously read Lisa Harris’s three earlier novels featuring Nikki Boyd, and I thought this was part of the same series. It isn’t, but it is.

The Nikki Boyd Files are contemporary Christian suspense novels, each following Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent Nikki Boyd through a case. The subplot is her search for her sister, who was abducted outside her school more than ten years ago and hasn’t been seen since. Vanishing Point starts before that, with the investigation into an abduction and murder of a teenage girl. The investigators work out it’s actually the third murder by a previously unrecognised serial killer, dubbed the Angel Abductor by the press.

The book then leaps forward to 2005 and the disappearance of another girl—Sarah Boyd. We are introduced to Nikki a teacher, and the older sister of the victim. Despite being the character this new series is named for, Nikki Boyd doesn’t appear again until the halfway point, in 2006, when another girl disappears.

I’ve read Vendetta, Missing, and Pursued, so I know the TBI still hasn’t caught the Angel Abductor in 2016. So at the halfway point, I’m wondering what’s going to happen in Vanishing Point? Is it going to skip ten years in the future and solve the case (in which case the entire first half of the book is backstory)? Or is it going to stay in 2006 and leave the central crime unsolved, a cold case?

It’s probably no secret what happens, because the book description gives it away. (Not that I read the book description before I started reading the book—I requested my review copy based on the fact it was about Nikki Boyd, and by Lisa Harris.) Anyway, it all felt a bit awkward.

Having said that, it was a good read—plenty of suspense, a little romance, and a solid underlying Christian theme. Recommended for fans of Christian suspense.

What a truly unique conclusion to the Nikki Boyd series! Or you might consider Vanishing Point the first book not the fourth since Harris takes us back to the beginning of the Angel Abductor's killing spree so this is definitely one you can read without having read any of the other books. This is a gripping look at the meticulous work that goes into crime solving. And it's realistic. The story spans a decade as the agents play a game of cat-and-mouse with their mysterious killer.

And that means the romance spans a decade as well! It never seems to be the right time or place for Jordan and Garrett to pursue a relationship. Not that the chemistry isn't right or feelings don't run deep. It's more about the two of them thinking the past should remain in the past and that dueling careers would make it impossible to settle down together. I seriously wanted to bash some heads together. Kidnap them and lock them in a closet until they sorted things out. Ten years, people! Ten years of longing and wondering and secretly loving but not admitting to it. Honestly, my poor romantical heart was wrung out by the end. But, oh my, was it ever worth it!!!!

As Jordon and Garrett struggle to stop a serial killer they wrestle with the age old question of how God can allow such awful things to happen. I appreciated the recurring theme of finding God in the hard places -- making spiritual sense amidst the senseless. Harris doesn't provide any pat answers, just the hope in a future with God to see us through.

And a special shout out for a diverse cast of characters. Especially appreciate Jordan's African American/Brazilian heritage. I've been looking for a more realistic world view in my Christian fiction for a long time so I'm thrilled that publishers are finally delivering.

The kind of romantic suspense that keeps you on your toes right to the very last page. A compulsive read from start to finish.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lisa Harris unveils an unforgettable story of a case that has haunted the public and law enforcement for more than a decade. Fans of the Nikki Boyd Files will thrill to finally discover what actually happened to Nikki's sister, Sarah. New readers will become instant fans after devouring this chilling tale.

I could have done Lisa in myself Wednesday night, or rather Thursday morning at 2 am when I finished Vanishing Point. I needed sleep! But I had to find out what happened next, and then next until The End. Discovering the backstory about who killed Nikki's sister was fascinating, like a puzzle coming together. I definitely give this one 5 stars! And don't think you'll go to bed and read a couple of chapters...

Now I understand why this book is labeled a Nikki Boyd novel as opposed to one of the Nikki Boyd Files. Rather than being another of Nikki's cases, this is the story of the ultimate case--the Angel Abductor and murderer, starting with its beginnings, working through the disappearance of Nikki's sister, and ending in the present day when the case is ultimately solved. As such, the focus is on the main investigators of the case--Jordan and Garrett--rather than Nikki herself, though she takes active part in the latter days of the investigation.

Because the case is strung out over so many years, the book reads a bit differently than the average suspense. It's still fast-paced--really, quite a feat for something that is essentially a cold case--but one can feel the frustration and hopelessness as yet another girl is abducted and murdered, with no leads to follow until the next victim is chosen. Like the case, Jordan and Garrett's romance starts and stops--starts and stops--and ultimately doesn't go anywhere until the end either, when in this situation, a bit of impetus and some communication might have gone a long way. I didn't feel that either of them wanted it enough to take a risk or make the sacrifice to make it work (neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm . . . )

I did enjoy the book, though; it fills in all the details and provides closure on the big, unsolved case of the Nikki Boyd Files. It wasn't my favorite, but it definitely has an important place in the series.

Thank you Revell and NetGalley for the free e-book. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.

I found this book absolutely fascinating! I have read the other three books in the series, so I really appreciated the way this story was put together. The novel begins back in the past, with investigators looking into the abductions and deaths of teenage girls. If you have not read the other books in the series, you could still pick up Vanishing Point and read it as a stand alone, however, the emotional impact may be lessened a bit. The entire series deals with gritty details and events that are not for the squeamish reader. I felt that the author handled these descriptions very well, however, some may find the situations hard to read about.

The book occasionally jumped forward in time as the story progressed. This was a necessary storytelling device, in my opinion. The serial abductions and murders took place over a large span of time and this method of moving from one abduction to the next helped the story to keep its forward movement. It also helped to demonstrate the way time seemed to slip through both Special Agent Garrett Addison and Special Agent Jordan Lambert’s fingers. Time marched on as they struggled to discover who was behind the horrors they investigated and it continued to march on as they both questioned what to place first in their lives – career or relationship. This was a riveting story that I could hardly set down.

3.5 Stars!
This is the seventh of Lisa Harris's novels that I've read. I have been hooked on the Nikki Boyd Files series since the start of book one and have been eagerly awaiting the revelation of what really happened to Nikki's sister Sarah! So needless to say Vanishing Point was one of the books I was most anticipating in 2017.
Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say that Vanishing Point just fell flat for me and left me feeling quite disappointed. I liked the main characters Garrett and Jordan, I felt for them and all the tough things they faced in life, but I never really connected to them and I don't really know why. The story was good, definitely a page turner and I read it in less than two days, but it seemed that up until the last fifty or seventy five pages or so this book seemed to be lacking the edge-of-your-seat suspense and action that usually fills this author's books. I really liked the unique way this story was told, meaning all the large jumps forward in time, I had been wondering how that would work and I think the author pulled it off beautifully!
The writing often felt flat and a tad bit disjointed and unfinished to me, which made the book somewhat difficult to read at times and made me a bit sad because I know the amazing writing this author is capable of, as a writer myself I know firsthand that "All writing is rewriting" and I kind of wish this book had gone through a few more edits to really make it shine!
I love that we got to see Nikki and Tyler and got updated on their lives, but at the same time as that made me really happy I was also very disappointed and a bit let down by the ending.
I highly recommend the three previous books in the Nikki Boyd series. And I do recommend Vanishing Point, even though it didn't become a favorite for me I am sure lots of people will absolutely love it and review it so please don't judge it just on my review.
I am looking forward to reading more of Lisa Harris's books and I am hoping to reread the first three Nikki Boyd books sometime in the future!

"How can you tell another family that their daughter isn't coming home?"

The Nashville, Tennessee region is experiencing the horror of what appears to the work of a serial killer and Garrett Addison's first week on the criminal investigative team of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has just gotten a lot more complicated. When the F. B. I. arrives onto the scene to assist, Garrett is reunited with the lovely agent that he could never forget, not even during the years that have separated them. Special Agent Jordan Lambert, the one that he let get away.

F. B. I. Special Agent Jordan Lambert is incensed that the "Angel Abductor" has managed to evade law enforcement once again. Working furiously to follow every possible lead, she and Garrett rekindle the easy camaraderie that they often enjoyed before her career path took her to Virginia, and he never came after her. But now is not the time to cry over spilled milk, because a cold blooded killer continues to meticulously abduct young girls without leaving a trace.

Rarely, if ever, does an author write a prequel to a very popular series of stories, but that is just what Lisa Harris has done, and for the most part has done well. Bringing eventual closure to a very complicated case that spanned over a decade, she allows her readers to tirelessly pursue loose ends and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done; along the way, reminding us all that God doesn't promise to eliminate the evils of this world, but to accompany us through them.

Special Agent Garrett Addison joined the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's homicide division a week ago and draws a case where a blonde teenager is found dead in a partial grave with a gunshot wound. Jordan Lambert of the FBI comes from Quantico to help investigate since a polaroid picture left behind is the sign of a serial killer called the Angel Abductor. Turns out Garrett and Jordan used to date before she joined the Bureau.

Although this book is the 4th of the Nicki Boyd files, Nikki only appears in a couple of cameos in this one. If you haven't read the earlier books, her sister is one of the blondes taken by the killer and never found.

This book covers over a decade of killings by the murderer. Obviously, Garrett and Jordan deal with much frustration with a lack of success in the case. They also deal with their feelings that seem to go on and on and never resolve throughout this time.

The book has solid Christian themes with several murders but no graphic scenes of the violence. The targeted audience is for readers who like Christian mystery. I was surprised by who the killer turned out to be.

Deb’s Dozen: The Angel Abductor Terrorizes Nashville For Over a Decade-Who Is He?

Teenage girls with long blonde hair go missing–and are found dead in shallow graves with a bullet wound in the middle of their foreheads. On the ground nearby–a Polaroid picture. Local police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are both stumped. The FBI is called for the assistance of a profiler, Special Agent Jordan Lambert. The TBI agent, Garrett Addison, gets hit with another such case his first week on the job–and the FBI agent is the woman he let get away some years before. Time passes, more girls are abducted and killed; some are found, some not.

Throughout the long years of investigation, Garrett and Jordan walk in and out of each other’s lives. They both regret what they don’t have with each other, yet can see no future together. And still, the case goes on. Can the Angel Abductor be that good? Is he hiding in plain sight? Why do the girls go with him without an apparent struggle? What have they missed?

Garrett and Jordan separately became very real to me. I wanted to shake them both and tell them to wake up to their attraction and get on with their lives together! But then the Angel Abductor would strike again, and I’d feel catching him the priority over personal feelings. You’ll get caught up in both lives-and the deaths of the poor girls.

In Vanishing Point, Lisa Harris has written a serial killer novel that perplexes the police agencies. She’s also written an unusual romance. In addition, she ties in her previous Nikki Boyd Files novels by having Nikki become a police officer (Nikki’s sister Sarah was one of the undiscovered victims). You wonder what takes so long to solve the crimes, but then that’s what often happens in the real world. Vanishing Point is a standalone novel even with the loose tie to the Nikki Boyd books-almost as if Harris didn’t think this one would have enough credibility on its own. I give this one three and a half stars.

Lisa Harris has written more than thirty books, is a Christy Award winner and has won the Best Inspirational Suspense Novel from the Romantic Times twice. She and her family have spent fourteen years living as missionaries in southern Africa. Find out more about her at LisaHarrisWrites.com.

As a fan of the Nikki Boyd series, one question has hung in my mind from the beginning. It’s the same one that drove Nikki into law enforcement and kept her plunging ahead as a missing persons investigator. What happened to Nikki’s sister?
Garrett Addison has joined the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and one of his first cases involves a Polaroid picture and a murdered teenage girl. The girl is not the first and points to a serial killer the media has dubbed The Angel Abductor. Because of the multiple murders and a missing girl yet to be found, the FBI is called in to support the search.
When Jordan Lambert shows up at the crime scene, Garrett is shocked to come face to face with the woman he once loved. The woman who chose the FBI over him.
Another girl goes missing—Sarah Boyd—and the TBI is once again immersed in the search for the Angel Abductor. How can this person evade the law so easily? What were they missing? Garrett questions his ability to do this job after following a lead that doesn’t pan out.
In an investigation that takes over ten years to come to a close, the twists at the end are a surprise I didn’t see coming until I was in the middle of it. Lisa Harris has a way of putting me right in the middle of the action and making my heart race right along with the characters in her books.
Vanishing Point is a satisfying conclusion to the series, giving readers the closure they want for Nikki and her family. This one makes a good stand alone or even an introduction to the Nikki Boyd series as a whole. Either way, fans of romantic suspense with intense investigations will devour this one.

Vanishing Point is a story that I have been waiting for a long time for. Part of the Nikki Boyd series, we finally are given a detailed look at the crisis that drove Nikki to the law enforcement leaving behind her career as a school teacher. This story starts a few years before Nikki’s sister is kidnapped and goes through present day (probably about 12 years overall) and we are given a look at the cases of the previous girls who were taken by the so called Angel Abductor. Whew! This was a very suspenseful book and we get to know the local crime scene agent Garrett and FBI agent Jordan and their trials and frustrations as they race against time to find this very evil individual.

This was a maddening book not only for the detectives and the families, but for the reader as well. Lisa Harris really made her bad guy quite reprehensible and one of the worst ones in all the books I have read so far. He did everything perfect and from the start you could imagine the fear these young girls probably experienced. The absolute anguish of the parents and the desperation of the law enforcement only added to the intense message of the book as to why such an evil person can even exist and do what he has been doing and where is God in all of this?

We also are treated to the romance of Garrett and Jordan and the immense struggles they had effecting their relationship. At times I felt as hopeless as all of these characters and I am glad that we finally received a conclusion to the story of the kidnapping of Nikki’s sister, Sarah.

I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

Vanishing Point has a different "feel" to the story in that it doesn't have Nikki Boyd as the primary character. The plot involves the total career of the serial murderer that caused the death of the sister of Nikki Boyd, Sarah. This book takes the reader back to the investigation of cases prior to Sarah's and then leaps to current time when another young woman is missing.

The main characters of Vanishing Point are a local investigatory, Garrett, and Jordan an FBI agent who is called in to help with the local investigation. And coincidentally, Garret and Jordan were once an "item." They both still have feelings for the other but don't act on them, moving on.

But another case investigation brings them back together years later. Following accumulating clues in a series of murders and juggling their feelings toward each other, Garrett and Jordan encounter obstacles that test their fortitude and problem solving abilities.

Thought provoking references to the age old question of "Where is God when bad things happen?" are raised and conclusions worth considering for resolution to this issue are pointed discussions and thought processes in the story.

While written in a slow, steady pace in the early portions of the book, a rapid, nail biting suspenseful end wraps up the four book series and places the culprit squarely in the hands of officials.

We finally get the conclusion to what has been one of the best series I have ever read!

This series began two years ago and I immediately fell in love with Nikki Boyd. With each book, we followed Nikki and her team as they investigated missing girls and more taunts from the Angel Abductor. With each installment, I hoped beyond hope we would finally discover the identity of the killer and learn the truth behind Nikki's sister's disappearance. And with each closing chapter, we were left with another cliff-hanger and more questions to be answered.

The wait is over.

Vanishing Point takes us back to when it all began. When the TBI and the FBI first realized they had a serial killer on their hands, and they began their journey to stop the man responsible for the death of so many girls. We get to witness the moment Sarah Boyd goes missing and the events that led to Nikki joining the police academy. We get to follow the team through the highlights of the past ten years and see the effects of the unsolved case in their lives.

But finally, we learn the identity of the Angel Abductor. We learn what really happened to Sarah Boyd. Of course, it doesn't come without challenges and broken hearts, but I can place this last book on my shelf knowing these characters are okay.

If you haven't read this series I suggest you start at the beginning. You can read this book as a stand-alone but you will enjoy it so much more if you start from book one.

I really enjoyed this series, and thought it had ended with book #3. When I got the email offering this one for review, I didn't even realize it was part of the series at first. The book doesn't have the same look as the others, and does not have the same main characters, though Nikki Boyd is in the book some.

Vanishing Point actually starts around 13 years before the rest of the series, something I didn't understand at first. Once I caught onto the time line, it was easy to get caught up in the story. Unlike most novels of this type, this book covers around a 13-year time span. In the other books, many references are made to Nikki Boyd's missing sister. This book goes back to before the disappearance of that sister and comes up to beyond where book #3 ended.

The romance in this book was also different from most suspense novels. The two main characters, Garrett and Jordan had previously dated and kept running across each other because of the case they were jointly working on. This was not a fast romance, but one that slowly took place over the same 13 year time span as the rest of the book.

In spite of it being so different from the other books in the series, I loved the book. I liked the new characters, and the book was full of non stop suspense, action, and detective work. There were a lot of surprises, and the identity of the bad guy wasn't easy to figure out. Harris outdid herself with this one, and it was a great way to end a series I thought was done, but was happy to read one more book from.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is book 4 in the Nikki Boyd Files Series but it definitely works as a standalone. This story was gripping from beginning to the end. It is a clean police-procedural that follows Garrett and Jordan, who are working tirelessly over a period of many years to track down a serial killer who is targeting young girls.

Garrett and Jordan were great characters…both smart but not robotic or heartless, they gave the reader a glimpse of the emotional toll that one goes through when searching for a murderer. Their relationship was also sweet, although frustrating at times.

Lisa Harris is very gifted as an author and definitely has a way with words. It was always easy for me to get lost in the story and the pacing was fast.

There are some sad moments but I appreciated that the age-old question of “why does God allow bad things to happen to people?” is addressed, and addressed well.

Overall, this was a great thrill-ride. I was never bored and would definitely pick up another book from this author!

My Rating: 4 stars

This novel should be read after the Nikki Boyd trilogy, as it finally deals with the identity of the Angel Abductor, the killer of Nikki´s sister Sarah.
Nikki is not the main heroine here, but she is present enough for the readers to catch up with her and her news.

What a ride! I like this best from all the Nikki Boyd novels. The novel deals with the hard question of the evil in the world. Also with the weakness, disappointment, the lost energy and the unsatisfying choices in life.
Agents Garrett and Jordan feel something for each other - still, even after the years. But life has got in the way - and by life I mean the mysterious killer, who can seemingly do no mistake. And years go and the case is unsolved, and they can not start to heal - the victims´s families have no conclusion and the police does not as well. But after the years, the killer (or copycat one?) might be back.

Wow. I wholly loved the first 80% of the book! The last parts deal with the killer too smart and too accidental for my taste, but still. This one is a good ride. And I like to finally have the conclusion to the abductor´s mystery.
I love how empathic this authoress is. And I love Garrett and Jordan together. I must confess that Nikki and Tyler are not so close to my heart, but Jordan and Garrett truly are. Maybe because both of them suffer and both of them fight? I like their mistakes and I like them standing up again.
Good read.

This is the final volume of the Nikki Boyd files and it details what happened to Nikki’s sister (who has disappeared 10 years prior to the events of the first book).

I thought it was a bit odd that Nikki wasn’t the main character in this one, though I guess her story got wrapped up pretty well in the third book. I wasn’t as attached to Garrett and Jordan since they are not in the previous books. I also found the romance a little odd because it was sprinkled in around the tracking of a serial killer. I understand it was there for cathartic purposes, but it didn’t really fit.

This was definitely the most like an episode of criminal minds. It was quite intense and parts were dark.

Jordan ,of the FBI,and Garrett, of the TBI reunite when a serial killer starts stalking young women.
The attraction, they shared in the Police Academy, is re- ignited.
Gut wrenching suspense pulls you through the book, until no new clues are left and the case goes cold.
The team is disbanded and fast forward ten years and the killing starts again.
The team is reunited under the direction of Nikki Boyd.
Suspense again pulls you through the darkness of evil.
The plot of the book is well crafted, the characters vivid against the backdrop of Tennessee and I loved the romance.
The book is recommended for those who love Christian romantic suspense.

Vanishing Point is the first Nikki Boyd book I've read. Jumping into this series at book 4 isn't a problem because this one reads fine as a stand-alone. In fact, Nikki plays an extremely minor role in this book, not even appearing until midway, and then only in cameo appearances. Readers looking to spend time with the star character might be disappointed.

When I opted to read this one, I didn't realize that the series is Christian fiction. The Christian aspect isn't overwhelming. Mostly, it's characters dwelling on that age-old question of why God allows bad things to happen to good people.

The writing is fine and the murder case is interesting, but I didn't love the book. I found the two main characters, Garrett and Jordan, annoying. This story spans more than a decade, and these two characters spent that entire decade pining over one another. This drama between the two is a large portion of the story. I wanted to tell them to grow up and deal with their relationship. Consequently, the "romantic" aspect of this romantic suspense grated on my nerves.

We're not given a lot of gory detail on the murders. The story is more about seeing the toll the murders take on the families and the investigators.
