She Is Free: Learning the Truth about the Lies that Hold You Captive

Rate this book
We say we're free in Christ, but many of us are still living in captivity--to fear, anger, shame, isolation, unforgiveness, and control. We're good at faking it around others, but we're exhausted by the ruse. Andi Andrew wants women to break free of their self-imposed prisons and live the lives that are rightly theirs in Christ.

Sharing her own intentional journey of finding true freedom by surrendering control of her heart and life to the God who welcomed her with open arms, Andrew encourages women to give their pain and brokenness to Jesus. She shows them how to purposefully take captive the lies they have believed and replace them with God's truth. Compassionate and biblically based, She Is Free is an invitation to women to step fully into the love that sets them free.

*I received this book for free for review purposes.*

I had a very difficult time reading this book as it was filled with SO. MUCH. WRONG! As a result, it took way longer to finish than it should have!

She is Free: Learning the Truth About the Lies that Hold You Captive, by Andi Andrew, is a book overflowing with shallow platitudes, prosperity gospel, mysticism, and statements bordering on heresy. What it lacks most is the true Gospel! I do not at all recommend this book and, should any choose to read it, do so with an open Bible of a reliable translation and a heart open in prayer!

Her introduction concludes with a lengthy quote from a, for want of a better word, paraphrase of Scripture called The Passion Translation. This so-called translation is one man’s paraphrase mixed with his own lengthy opinions interspersed throughout, under the guise of being actual Scripture (divinely inspired word of God). Apparently he forgot about the verses indicating the curse that should fall upon the one who would choose to add or take away from the words of Scripture! See Revelation 22:18-19, Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 12:32. This certainly doesn’t deserve the descriptor “translation” and it is hugely concerning that, not only in the introduction, but also throughout her book, she relies so heavily on this “translation”!

Another translation she relies on heavily is the Amplified Version. This is another dangerous translation. It claims to reveal what other translations conceal (though they conceal nothing). It adds meaning to the text that clearly isn’t intended by the text, if you were to view the text in its complete context! It allows readers to choose their own meaning of the text, by including alternate meanings of words, instead of looking at the context to understand the meaning! It does have it’s benefits, making us think, or rethink, how a verse is translated and what it means, but should be used with caution and with another reliable translation next to it!

She likes to encourage her readers to read the Bible (good) but to do so “in a translation that comes alive to you” (p 51). I have a problem with this! The word of God is a living word!! A good, reliable translation is always alive!

I struggle to know where to start with what is wrong with this book (there is VERY little right with it)! Chapter 1, Trapped by Pain, we are told that if we just feel Christ’s love, the Father’s love, we are freed from our pain. That this is the gospel, the Good New that Jesus came to bring. That we “are reconnected to this love” (p 22). What? I thought that the gospel was that Christ came to DIE for us! To give us COMPLETE forgiveness of all our sins! THAT is the primary purpose of His coming, the primary Gospel. Everything else (being connected to His love) flows from that! But NOT ONCE does she indicate that! Not until chapter 7 is there ANY mention of our sins being what separate us from God’s love, from God, nor is there ANY mention of the forgiveness of our sins and eternal life with God being the reason Christ came to die!!

Instead we’re given a lot of “I just need to choose” or “When I simply become aware of His unending presence in my life, …” (p. 23). What about repentance, Andi?! Not ONCE is repentance mentioned!! So we have this message that we can be set free from all the bad thoughts, feelings, memories we have but nothing about being set free from sin. In addition, she gives the implication that, once we’ve been set free from these negative things, we will be completely free always, never having a struggle again, never facing depression again, etc! As thought faith is a magic happy pill! So what happens if, one day, I’m freed from anxiety and depression and then a few months later, it all comes back with a vengeance? Was my faith than not a true faith? This is what she would seem to imply! This is a dangerous false doctrine that is embrace by proponents of the prosperity gospel. She seems to be a strong proponent of this false gospel. And then later, in chapter 3, she says, “Having Jesus doesn’t mean we won’t have storms; having Jesus means we are unshaken by them”, contradicting what she said in previous chapters!!

“I’ve woken up to the reality that our spiritual freedom is fought for an won on the battlefield between truth and lies.” (p 24). Really?? Was it not fought for an won by the only one capable of this battle (Christ) on the cross??

She speaks of “our reality” showing that it is all really relative to our own desires, personalities, etc. Showing a complete disregard for the only actual reality – God’s reality! Instead, she’s embraced cultures view – reality is what we make it!

“…certain areas of my life hadn’t been perfected in His love! To be honest, I’m still working on it – we all are.” (p. 25) And this is a sad quote that shows she’s still not truly free, not in the way Christ truly came to free us – from our sins! She still has the pride to think it’s up to her! But, read Hebrews 12:2 – “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”! It is Jesus who prefects our faith! No amount of work we do will perfect it!!

Andi implies Christ is simply a presence that brings peace. But where does that peace come from? She doesn’t say! She misses the point of the person of Christ and what He accomplished on the cross! She gets SO CLOSE but, still, she misses it!

“Make room for Him in a way that works with how you are uniquely created to connect.” (p 33) What??? No!! This smacks loudly of the postmodern ‘we make our own truth’!!

She tells us to read the Bible daily and allow it to transform us. She misses the fact that we can’t transform ourselves, we can’t “allow” it to transform us. It will transform us but not because we allow it, rather because HE uses it to do so!

This all, so far, is just from the first chapter! Much of the rest of the book is the same! Her philosophy that seems to form the basis of this book seems rather existentialist! A dangerous philosophy for one who is supposed to be Christian! “We need only become more aware…”, “we simply need to work…”, etc.

Page 44 – another example of where she gets SO CLOSE and still misses the mark: “We have access to a God that sees us, knows our brokenness, and loves us anyway. …” She continues along the same line – that we are loved while still in our brokenness (by which I assume she means to include sin). BUT she never indicates that we need to leave that sin and brokenness behind! We need to leave our life of sin in response to this love of God!

She pushes the need to belong to a good community that demonstrates selfless love. Good! I agree! But no community can demonstrate such love purely, nor can they do so alone! Again, where is Christ in all of this?? Is the purpose of Christ simply to make us feel good about ourselves?? Because that’s what this book implies and sometimes outright states!

She often contradicts herself. For example, on page 39 she talks about being alone in the pit and God is just waiting to be invited to come in and join us, to be with us (so we’re alone until we invite Him in). But on page 47 she says we’re never alone! She’s right, there; we are not ever alone! But then be consistent and say that ALL the time!

We see a lot of “allow God”, “let God” and I wonder, since when are we in charge of God??

Back to the prosperity gospel (health, wealth, and prosperity gospel) she states in multiple places that God doesn’t intend for us to experience pain, sickness, disease, or trial because “He is good, kind, and all things wonderful…” (p 49). But is she forgetting David, Job, and Paul to name a few? Or the countless godly people in this day and age who just never see healing on this earth (one famous example would be Joni Erikson Tada)?? I believe that the trials we face are part of His plan and I believe this is supported by scripture: “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,…” (James 1:2 ESV) as well as Jesus promise to His disciples that life would be hard and full of trials! She, rightly, states “God does not tempt us or entice us to sin, nor does He give us sickness or pain; it’s not in His nature…” (p 50). And I agree with this! He doesn’t give these things, He’s not the author of bad things. BUT He allows them and we need to believe, then, that they are part of His plan. To say that God has nothing to do with these things is to say that He is not in absolute control and to say that they serve no purpose in our lives! Again in chapter 9, “He sent Jesus to heal my body…” NO! He sent Jesus to heal our souls! Sometimes, to do that, it means our bodies will be broken or sick! That’s OK!!

As a side note, she does get certain Biblical facts wrong (specifically in chapter 3 when she was on a tour in Rome and went to one of the places Paul was imprisoned (not house arrest but actually prison before his execution). She implies, also, that the plan for Christ to come as a ransom was conceived after the fall into sin. However, I believe this plan was in place long before creation happened. I think the Fall was part of the plan because I believe in an all-knowing, all-powerful God!

There’s a lot of contradiction (which is common when you’re relying on false doctrine): we need to invite God into our lives; oh but God is always with us and we can’t be separated from Him; oh but if we’re willing and allow Him, he’ll come into our lives; and so on. We are not in control of God!!

“… I felt God say to me in all my inadequacy and insecurity, ‘I have confidence in you.’ “ (p 67) Yeah, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t God! God who is all-powerful, almighty, our creator is not one who will have confidence (which is actually defined as a feeling of belief or trust) in His creation!

“Jesus died willingly in order to connect with you…” (p 67). Again, NO!! He died willingly in order to pay for our sins!!!

“The Holy Spirit softly whispers to us, ‘You hold the key in your hands to let yourself out…’.” (p 78). There’s a good dose of works righteousness!! We can do it ourselves – the only purpose of God is to remind us we have the power to change ourselves!

At this point, I’m not even through chapter 4 yet. I could go on with more of the same. This is such a discouraging read because she is so close and yet so far from the true gospel! I’m going to leave my review at this point because it is just going to be way too long otherwise (it’s already quite lengthy)! I will say that, finally, in chapter 7 she admits that Christ came to save us from our sins! Chapter 5 has a good practical section that encourages reading the Word, prayer, and worship.

Based on this one book, I would argue that Andi Andrew is a false teacher who is leading thousands of people to hell in a pretty hand-basket. She teaches the prosperity gospel, works righteousness and a good dose of existentialism! This is not in line with Scripture!!

Nuggets I Like
Yes, there are little nuggets in this book that I like, even though I believe she’s a false teacher. Shoot, even Donald Trump says SOME good things!

Speaking of an example of a marriage gone dry: “The ring on your finger has become a rock instead of a symbol of covenant relationship. The truth is, if we don’t live with a sincere awareness of our walk, the same can happen with Jesus.” (p. 29)

“There is no substitute for the presence of God.” (p 29)

“At any moment of the day, in any season, you can step away for a moment, give yourself a time-out, and connect to the Father’s heart.” (p 41)

“At the King’s table we … are taught to live from love instead of for love …” (p 62).

“When I hold on to unforgiveness, I become bitter and deeply offended, and a little piece of my heart hardens to intimacy with God.” (p. 77)

“A life of radical forgiveness … is not possible without the grace and forgiveness of God in our lives.” (p 79)

"She is Free" is revolutionary. It pushes you to think critically about the lies you've been led to believe and the walls you've constructed around your vulnerability while encouraging you with love to run to God, spend time in His presence, and walk in true authority and freedom. There are heartfelt anecdotes from the author's own life; deep Biblical truths rooted in God's unwavering love and desire for His people; and practical steps on how to break the chains that are binding you. This is more than a book; it's a tool for change.

Andi's passion is palpable and contagious, and it is clear that this is not just a moneymaker for her; this book is truly about equipping people (especially women) to walk confidently and activating the Spirit within them. We are free to set others free, which is a rallying anthem that cries from the very pages. This book leaves you hungering for internal change and God's word; sometimes I have a hard time picking up my Bible, but the powerful Scripture used throughout has me craving the Lord every day. It's not just a book to pick up and put down. You will highlight, you will underline, you will cry ugly tears with mascara dripping down your fave, and you will be dying to share it with every woman you know. Andi has purposeful questions for reflection at the end of every chapter too, which makes it ideal for a community group.

I couldn't recommend this highly enough.

She is free is a very conversational style book about walking and living in the freedom that Jesus has already paid for. Andi walks the reader through some of the most common and hardest things that many find to be hard to find freedom in. In the chapter Freedom from Unforgivness Andi dispels lies that we believe about unforgiveness . The book includes many other chapters that help us to be free from things such as shame, anger and fear. The chapter on freedom from fear was and is very impactful for me. Andi states that “ Fear is at the root of more things we face than we’re probably aware of. Fear is a tool that the devil custom designs for each of our lives because it is void of the love of God”. This book will not disappoint in fact if you are willing it will be life changing. One powerful quote from the book that I would like to leave for is “ Some of the church today is crippled by the lack of revelation and understanding of the authority that it has been given in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ”. If you want to experience the truth about lies that have held you captive pick up your copy of this book. Also grab a few copies for others.

This book is a must read for all women. I'm so thankful for the transparency that Andi Andrew shows in the pages of these books. She's a real woman with real issues who needed a miraculous God. Women will be able to relate to her on many different levels. It's always powerful to read a book and take a deep breath knowing that you aren't alone.

This book couldn't have come at a better time for me personally. There were many times when reading this that I would say "me too"! I was reminded that God set me free to set others free and that His truth is bigger than the lies I had come to believe. I will be recommending this book to every woman I come in contact with.

She Is Free: Learning The Truth About The Lies That Hold You Captive by Andi Andrew is mostly comprised of snippets of Andi's personal journey to face those lies which keep a lot of women from embracing their full value and having a close personal relationship with God. As Andi reveals her past struggles, she provides both Biblical and practical insight, along with suggestions to help other women who are facing similar imprisonment from unforgiveness, fear, anger, shame, control, and isolation.

For each of these captors, Andi starts by posing the common lie the enemy uses to keep us from connecting with God. She then shows us how this lie influenced her life, the revelation that made her confront and overcome it, the truth that replaces the lie, and personal suggestions for "walking in freedom". Most of the suggestions are simple steps like a prayer to recite, a Bible excerpt to read, or questions to reflect on.

While this book does not tackle the very core of some deep-rooted issues, it does provide a soothing dose of hope for even those most painful conditions. It's not just for the light-hearted surface pain but rather it's designed to shine a light into the broken crevices of our souls and help the healing process begin. If you're looking for a psychology book or just a scriptural resource, this is not it. Instead, this is a moving testimony from someone who has faced the same struggles and wants to take your hand and walk you out of your self-created prison and out into the sunlit courtyard that is the Lord's love and peace.

I would recommend this book to any woman who is struggling with the lies the enemy so frequently places in our paths. Whether you already know God and would just like a friendly reminder of His love for you and His plans for your life, or if you've never uttered His name but are just desperate to find a better way to live - this book is for you. Andi even includes a prayer in the appendix for those women who have yet to accept Christ into their lives. 4/5 stars.

MY THOUGHTS:

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Issues of living “in captivity–to fear, anger, shame, isolation, unforgiveness, and control.”

I thought the author did a good job conveying her perspective on the above, I just found it hard to read/follow and couldn’t stay interested. Does this make the book a terrible one? No. Am I willing to recommend it to others? Yes. I feel that when it comes to religion, since there are so many different faiths and understanding of each, I believe it’s up to each individual to read what they feel helps them along throughout life. Who am I to dictate what is right or wrong when it comes to religion? I have my own beliefs and understanding of the gospels, and I’m no way qualified to question those of others.

Therefore, I will give this book a rating based on the writing itself and the author’s attempt at bringing her own thoughts to the table for discussion. Read the book and see what you think.

She Is Free

Learning the Truth about the Lies that Hold You Captive
by Andi Andrew

Baker Books

Christian

Pub Date 03 Oct 2017

I am reviewing a copy of She is Free through Baker Books and Netgalley:

Sadly many of us who profess Christianity still live in fear and uncertainty. We often feel trapped by emotional pain. A cycle that can have us questioning our own insanity.

God does not want us to feel that we are being held captive by our own thoughts. The author points out too that freedom is a work in progress. The author goes on to stress the importance of knowing God!

The author reminds us just as parents want to get to know us, and spend time with us, the same as any good parent would want to spend time with their children.

The author goes on to remind us that our pain can become our platform. We are reminded too of the importance of forgiving ourselves as well as others. And I Andrew remindsus tay forgiveness is a constant choice.

We are reminded too that fear is like a cage, that it can hold us captive if we let it.

We are encouraged to pray, meditate and connect with God.

We are reminded too that Anger does not have to have a hold on us. But we are reminded too that there is such a thing as healthy anger. The author goes on to remind us that there is freedom from shame as well.

I give She is Free five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

This book is really the Gospel in a nutshell; the freedom that Christ paid for should be our reality every single day. As women, sometimes we can be guilty of carrying around our hurt like a badge of honor. Rather than allow us to wallow in that for one more moment, Andi Andrew catapults us forward in our journey of freedom. Although my pain is different than what Andi described in her very first chapter, the principles of walking out freedom are so relevant and unwavering. “The truth is, our pain can be our platform if we are committed to walking through the process of healing, recognizing that in Christ we have become new.”

Throughout the journey of freedom outlined in the book, Andi reminds us that, “God’s presence is the one thing for which there is no substitute.” It brings peace to our storms, answers to our questions, freedom to our minds and identity to our fractured hearts. As we learn to embrace God’s presence, we can more fully walk out our freedom in Him. If you are dealing with anxiety, fear, anger, shame, control or anything else that is holding you back from the fruit of your freedom, I cannot recommend this book enough. Plus I love that it has great questions in the back of each chapter that make this perfect for any Bible study or small group to use. This is a must-read for all believers!

`She Is Free` is a Christian Living book for women by author Andi Andrew. Have you ever felt in bondage to captivity? Ever wanted to feel free? Many women feel this way. In her book, Andi Andrew shows women how to combat lies women believe with the truth of God. I believe the author was motivated to share her story because she wants women to stop focusing so much on who we are but focus on whose we are. If we are Christians we belong to Christ.

Each chapter begins with Biblical scripture. My favorite piece of scripture is from chapter one. "For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." II Corinthians 3:17 There are also reflection questions at the end of each chapter which would make this a great mentoring tool.

I really love this book. It reminds the reader that the way to have a fulfilling life is through forgiveness and salvation. It is through knowing Jesus and allowing Him to heal you. Trust in Jesus is the way out of bondage.

I will remember this author by the way she forgave her mom and through the birth of her first child, Zeke. Zeke was born exactly eight years to the day that Andi gave her life to Jesus, the day Jesus made all things new in her life.

“She is Free,” by Andi Andrew, is a nonfiction book in the Christian genre, and is set up in chapters that list a lie, such as, “anger protects me and keeps me safe,” and then at the end of the chapter, the truth, “anger is a counterfeit body guard.” In this way, it is similar to RH’s “Girl, Wash Your Face,” but the books are very different. This book has a lot of scripture in each chapter, as well as action steps moving forward. This is not my favorite genre, which I am always truthful about 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️, but this is one of the best books in this category that I’ve read. 📚

The chapter about visiting Mamertine Prison where the apostle Paul wrote many of his Epistles, in Ana Capri, was especially moving and I will remember the story forever. The author describes seeing this humble place, and where prisoners, and Paul, were lowered into the prison through a hole in the ceiling, and then chained to a column, where Paul may have done his writing. She said in that moment, “any laziness or apathy toward my God-given inheritance to delve into the Bible left me. I couldn’t wait to go and read my Bible again.” I would like to have that experience myself, and pray I get to someday. 📚

For this genre especially, four stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 📚

What a great book to dive into what keeps us captive and how we can be free in Christ from the lies that keep us in our personal prisons. Andi is a great communicator with vivid stories and wisdom offered out of vulnerability. You can hear her voice and passion through each page. One of my favorite passages is about waiting in a season where God is planting seeds in us. In this chapter on being Trapped by Pain, she writes, “If God gives you an underground-seed season, take it! Otherwise you’ll try to produce fruit prematurely, and it will be bitter and inedible because it was produced by you and not by the process God has naturally set into motion” (33).

If you desire to no longer live imprisoned by your own shame, guilt, anger,...you fill in the blank...then check this book out and dive into the biblical knowledge Andi has to offer. You will not be disappointed in her ability to pastor and lead you into her darkest moments so that you can become free from your darkest places with God as the victor.

She Is Free: Learning the Truth about the Lies that Hold You Captive is a must-read and reread! Andi lovingly brings to light the proverbial “swept under the rug” issues so many of us keep hidden in our hearts. She guides us through the healing process and rips apart the biggest lies that keep us from walking in freedom (fear, anger, anxiety, shame, isolation, etc.). Andi holds nothing back and encourages us to do the same saying, "...do whatever it takes to move forward and live in our freedom."

I recommend this book to anyone who needs a breakthrough from the pitfalls and strongholds in their walk with God (I especially recommend reading the chapter on “Isolation”). We weren’t meant to do life alone and I’m so glad I got to read this book! My walk with the Lord is no longer hindered; I’m running free!

I absolutely loved reading this book! Having been a Christian since childhood, I understand that Jesus paid the price for my freedom from sin and death. However, it is naive to think that our freedom is a one time encounter or experience. I have realised even more through reading She is Free that we carry so much baggage around with us and there are deep down lies that we still believe, even unconsciously. And those effect our relationship with Jesus and with each other. This book has been like holding a mirror up to my life and my heart and has been so revealing. I want to partner with God to replace the lies that I believe about myself so that I can truly walk in freedom every day, and help others to do the same thing. Thank you Andi Andrew for your honesty and for being obedient in putting pen to paper!

I had mixed feelings about this book. I listened to the audiobook, which may have been part of the problem. In the audiobook (read by Andi) she has to read all of the Bible chapter and verse notations... it really makes for an awkward experience to listen to. It’s kind of distracting. Reading the book is probably a better move with this one.

In terms of the context, it was good content. Sometimes I found it hard to follow how the topics of the book were organized but overall it was a fine read.

I think the book had some nice reminders about turning to God in times of need or confusion, which I enjoyed.

I saw the author speak live a few months ago and she is an incredibly dynamic speaker, I think this book did not do her justice, but is worth a read.

This book is timely for the body of Christ! Practical and insightful. Fun and real. I needed this message as someone who is newly married and is navigating the pressure of a live that grows bigger with more leadership responsibility too. This is a message of freedom to anyone that finds herself overwhelmed as I did with life's pressures and demands, and it will help you know the truth about navigating emotions like anger and fear, and how to be healed and set free from the inside out, by the love and truth found in God's presence!! This book has changed my life, believing it will do the same for you.

There is “NO SUBSTITUE for God’s Presence”….and there is no substitute for experiencing TRUE FREEDOM. And in this incredible book, She Is Free, you will find freedom from issues WE ALL FACE…issues like fear and anxiety and you’ll learn how to embrace God’s powerful presence in a real way.

This book and Pastor Andi’s story has impacted my life in ways that I never thought were possible. Her story and journey to find freedom are what have given me courage to join that journey too. Are you ready to experience TRUE freedom? Don’t let another moment pass by, your story and journey are WORTH IT!

I met Andi for the first time at a women's conference last year and her message really spoke to my heart. She is funny, vulnerable and speaks God's truth in a very deep way. When I heard about her book I couldn't wait to read! I wanted to know more about her story and how she became free from the enemy's lies. I already have a paper copy of the book and it's really really good. It's a journey into God's freedom through a path of redemption, surrender, and authority to put the enemy away. Go get your copy of the book and enjoy God's freedom in your life!!! Andi is very inspiring and I can't wait for more books from her!!!!

“She is Free” by Andi Andrews is a wonderful book about being free from all the lies that hold us captive.  Andi talks about unforgiveness, fear, anger, shame, control and isolation.  She uses real life examples from her own life and shows us how to be rid of all the lies that we hold on to.  This isn’t a light read book.  You must take your time and really let her words sink in.  At the end of each chapter are questions and suggestions to help more in these topics.

I received this book from Baker Books for my honest opinion.

I thought this book really helped understand some of the dangerous when we aren't walking in freedom from certain things that really damage our relationships with God and others. And I love how real and raw Andi Andrew was in being the first to share her personal struggles with these things, as that is extremely brave, and it helped me find freedom as well, and understand that I wasn't alone in struggling with these things. I thought there were a good amount of practical suggestions, but I am always happy to receive more. This book truly helped me see my need to get alone with the Father.

Andi's words usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit which then illuminates exactly how what is written in the book applies to my life. She Is Free has let me know I'm not alone and it's okay to expose all of my being to a Creator who loves and cares for me more than I know!

This book will definitely take some time to process and marinate in. It's the type of book you take chapter by chapter. It would be great for a Bible study as there is an abundance of Scripture sprinkled throughout.

I went through this book with a church small group and we enjoyed the book for the most part. There is a lot of scripture referenced in the book but the content inside the chapters was missing some helpful transitions between sections. I appreciated the author's vulnerability and transparency along with the way she honored her family's privacy in certain sections while telling her story still. It wasn't a surface level book, and for that, I am grateful.

some good nuggets, but right at the beginning misses the most important part: the gospel. no where does it actually explain repentance if sin and also the actual gospel, which is what jesus did on the cross (she says it’s gods love for us, which is true-ish. god sent jesus because he loves us, but what jesus did was of his own free will and is what the gospel is actually referring to too when we say that word). i wouldn’t recommend reading it if you’re new to christianity, due to the lack of fundamentals

Andi Andrew shares how God can bring freedom in life (from fear, depression, feeling worthless, etc.) and encourages readers that God can do this for them too.

Thank you, Andi Andrew, for being so candid about your experiences.

I was lucky enough to get this as a Goodreads giveaway, and I'm really glad I did.

Andi writes a book that is full of personal stories as she shares her path to freedom in hopes that others can find theirs. She teaches you how to face your pain and how to overcome all the lies that can hold you back. This book is full of scripture and reflection that will help you realize you are not alone. Overall a good self help book.

through her personal experience and God given wisdom, Andi shares insights to set women free from so many of life's prisons. Though my story looks very different from Andi's, her stories and wise words have given me a different perspective and a path to freedom from my personal fears and anxieties. This book will change many lives!

This book is amazing! No matter what you’re going through in life or where you are with your faith this is a must-read. Pastor Andi’s vulnerability and life story are refreshing and relatable. She makes the gospel easy to understand and shows the many areas in which we all need to find freedom. I highly recommend this book!

I can see how this could be encouraging and helpful. But I definitely differ theologically from some of the author’s positions, and I struggled at times to relate to some of the personal experiences she shared. I love the premise of the book and there are some worthwhile snippets, but based on some past reviews I was hoping for more.

The book provides enough information for anyone to break out of bad habits/mindsets. I enjoyed the discussion section is very focused on Christian ideas. If you’re struggling with any kind of lies from the enemy, then this book is for you.

Helps you to recognize how to walk in the freedom of your identity in Christ and discern lies from the truth of what God’s word says about you. A well written book with lots of insight and solutions on how to heal from past sin / hurts. Highly recommend!
