In an evocative collection of stories, Ruskin Bond describes his encounters with a variety of wild animals. Told in simple, lyrical prose that characterizes Bond's writing, this collection is small yet each story is thrilling, funny and heart-warming. A nice quick read which will make you want to read more of his stories.

"𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫."

It's a short story book.
Ruskin Bond describes his encounters with different animals and birds.

Simple and easy to understand stories.
Each story is written with love and care for animals which is rarely seen now and that's really sad.

A nice and a quick read.
You can read it if you're in a reading slump.
Well, I read it when I was in a no-mood-of-reading mode. And after reading these delightful stories I got back to my pace.

My book resolution for the year has already been met, and 2022 still has one more day left. So I had this urge to read something to pass the time, and it had to be a quick read so that I could finish the book before the end of the year. I discovered this quick read thanks to Kindle Unlimited. Ruskin Bond, our Mussorie storyteller, has compiled a list of 10 must-read animal stories. These ten stories are taken from his own childhood and other times. Most are about his grandfather and grandmother's pet animals at their Dehra home. These are some interesting stories that I thoroughly enjoyed. The stories included are:
1. Henry: A Chameleon
2. To See a Tiger
3. The Parrot Who Wouldn't Talk
4. Harold: Our Hornbill
5. Exciting Encounters
6. Grandpa Fights an Ostrich
7. The Hare in the Moon
8. Visitors from the Forest
9. Owls in the Family
10. The Elephant and the Cassowary Bird
I loved the stories The Parrot Who Wouldn't Talk and Harold: Our Hornbill more.

The stories written by Ruskin Bond are delightful to read, this one around has animals/birds. I need to read Ruskin Bond every now and then to keep myself grounded, just like the (addictive) sweet milk tea which he has mentioned so many times in his stories.

I can read Ruskin Bond again and again and again, and I never get bored of his stories.

Cheers,

PS - I was addicted to sweet milk tea previously, but not any more, I prefer English tea without sugar, these days.

Reminds you of how ignorant we've become of nature

It reminded me of the stories my grandmother would narrate while I went to sleep with my elder brother. It was a refreshing read from one of my favourite authors. Spend a couple of hours reminiscent of what we ignore in our daily hurry burry.

Recommended for children

Easy English and connected with nature. In today's world most children are brought up in cities and flats, where that have no interaction with animals. This book showcases an era when animals can come and go in house and live with harmony with humans

Beautiful

I'd recommend this book to people who like to read. It's not about the destination, it's the journey. These stories don't exactly have beginings and ends but if you love animals or stories, you'll love it.

Ruskin bond never fails to amaze me with his simplicity. This book also manages to catch the curiousity of the reader. This time it's added with animal tales which makes it more interesting.
