This book is so bad!

I don't like women with no self esteem. This story made me angry from the beginning. I as the reader wad never given a chance to reverse my opinion.

Not what I expected but pleasantly surprised

This book was really good. The description did not do the book justice. I almost didn't read this book because the description was pretty stereotypical. This book touched on racism, prejudice, and environmental issues.
I had a hard time liking Imani throughout. She was either naïve or prejudice when Franco told her he was gay. Her response was ridiculous. Weak women really bother me and the fact that she stayed with Brian even after he cheated and Franco told her other things was frustrating. I also didn't like how she just up and left for the airport with no regard for Franco's safety. Ajax was OK, but there honestly wasn't much character development.
I did like that this book had suspense. The whole sundown town plot was unexpected but definitely made the book better.
I noticed some major editing errors. On several instances Ajax and Franco's names were used incorrectly. The most blatant example is when Imani and Ajax have sex for the first time. It made whole scene a bit confusing. Would have given 5 stars if not for this issue.
Overall the book was very good, just needs some editing. OMG sex scenes were scorching HOT!!!

She found love in an unexpected place.

Imani was not intending to find love while on her business trip in the "sundown town" of Homer, Oklahoma. But this beautiful countryman was determined to keep her. She and her co-worker Marco was sure there were some unsavory things going on Ajax's father's ranch. Imani had to think with her mind, not her heart, where Ajax was concerned. She did not know if he was involved or harbored the same old racist feelings as his father. Imani had to proceed cautiously, especially after a bad breakup with her previous boyfriend.

Things were happening quickly between Imani and Ajax. Both were in love with each other but the uncovered secret that Ajax's father was hiding made him rethink his life and needed a big change, but he wanted that change with Imani.

This story was a little too predictable. Imani and Ajax's relationship took off a little too fast for me. But they still got their HEA.

This story was read and listened to in sync with Audible. The narrator, IMHO, did not fit the script and did little to enhance the storyline.

Small town love

Good story and thought the characters were interesting. Not much interaction between them except for sex but they managed to find love somewhere in there. There were some major typos but they didn’t overshadow the story. The ending was a bit sparse and left you wanting to know more.

Great Read

“auditory pathways” really? Who says that - I had to smirk at that description of hearing - good story as usual Jamila packed her story with passion, controversy and a little bit of fun. Great Read.

2.75 stars. The bones were there for a good story but, the author rushed things and seem more interested in adding sex scenes than fleshing out a complete story.

Great story

Wow! Wonderful read! Full of love drama mystery and pain. I'm glad Ajax came along. I wished Franco had a happy ending too! 😔
Maybe a book two for him? 🤞

Not Good

I am a JJ fan I have so many of her books and I usually love reading them. To the point where I’m up late because it’s hard to putt them down. But the last few have been pretty bad and I have to write this review it feels like this book was thrown together there were a bunch of errors and it wasn’t worth the time it took me a month to finish this and that because I actually forgot about it don’t waste your time with this book.
