Rufus the dog and his owner Edward are the best of friends. They spend their evenings sharing pizzas and cans of beef stew while watching movies. What could be better? When Edward decides to try online dating, Rufus's small, furry world is turned upside down. Gone are the days of lounging and cuddle time! Now it's one undesirable lady after another, coming into their once-peaceful lives. Will Edward ever find love, and if he does, will there still be room in his heart for Rufus?
I read this book via a free download from Amazon KINDLE Unlimited. Unlike any romance novel I’ve ever read/review this novelette/novella had no POV coming from the two usual protagonists a the story, there’s neither male or female POVs. Instead the entire story gets told from Rufus, the dog whose owner Edward has suddenly started dating women.
What had always been a buddy-buddy relationship between a man and his dog has gone astray since has there’s almost of perpetual flow of different women coming into his owner’s life on a daily basis, which is something Rufus, being a dog can’t seem to understand. All Rufus know is that his buddy is no longer spending the same amount of time with him, there’s no more getting cuddled, there’s no more loafing around together like the two guy buddies used to do.
Will Edward finally bring home a woman who would love cuddling with me is what Rufus seems to be asking, so there could be a return to some normalcy and a return to some much needed cuddling?
While my dear OH would love to have a dog, given where we live the building has a strict rule regarding dog pets, I found this book to be quite endearing romantic comedy not only for dog lovers and any animal lover as well, which is why I’ve given the author, Holly Tierney-Bedord, 5 STARS for her endeavor here.
such a cute story following in the eyes of Rufus, the dog. was such a nice treat to follow rufus and see how he sees things going on with his dad. a total feel good story that will keep you smiling and wanting you to meet rufus yourself!
Dogged by love is a quick, easy, feel-good story in novella form, by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I have read quite a few of Ms. Tierney-Bedord’s books and really liked each one so far, I was hoping that this book would be just as enjoyable. Well, I am happy to say that she didn’t let me down. I was captivated by this cute read. Rufus P. McDougal is the canine companion of Edward Wainwright. You read that correctly- Rufus is a dog, a very adorable, smart and happy little dog. He and Edward are the best of friends. When Edward isn’t at work, they spend all their time together. Their time is spent with walks to the park, playing with toys, cuddles, watching movies and sharing food. Rufus loves his life just the way it is. Even though Edward loves Rufus, he is lonely and longs for human companionship. He is a long way from home, as he’s an Englishman- who would love nothing more than to return home, but he has another 12month to his employment contract. His mother finally convinces Edward to join an online dating site, to see if he can meet someone nice. Reluctantly Edward agrees. Rufus isn’t happy about the situation as he is convinced that if Edward falls in love with someone, then Edward won’t have room in his heart for him anymore. Rufus doesn’t want to share Edward with anyone else. So as the story progresses, Rufus’s world turns upside down- there are lots of funny moments, and plenty of doggie antics ensue. Will Edward find someone nice to share his life with? Will Rufus learn to accept someone else in his life and learn to share Edwards’s attention? Is it possible that he could be even happier with two humans to love and who love him in return? Ms. Tierney-Bedord has a happy, upbeat and relaxed style to her writing. She writes beautifully. Her stories are always fresh, fun and light hearted- and this one is no exception. This book is quite unique, as the story is told from Rufus’s (the dogs) P.O.V. There is quite a lot packed into such a short story. It has a great pace, flows well and will have you smiling quite a lot as you read. Even though it’s quite a short story, it didn’t feel rushed at all. It’s such a witty and delightful read. The novella is a standalone and has a HEA. I am looking forward to reading the next book release from Ms. Tierney-Bedord.
This was such a little fun and comical story to read! It had me giggling and literally laughing out loud through your the entire book.
Being the HUGE animal lover that iam. I loved that this story is being told from the dog’s point of view. It's quite hilarious! The dog has a huge personality, full of drama and mischievous tendencies.
In this entertaining story, we meet Rufus, the dog and his human best friend , Edward. Edward decides to embark on the online dating world. Which to Refus’ dismay, he doesn't like one bit. He is used to having Edward all to himself at all times.
So when Edward does actually start to date… Rufus tries everything in his power to ruin it. This is full of twists and turns in the dating world. Will Rufus get his way? Or will Edward finally get tired of his shenanigans??
You must read this book to find out what happens. If you're looking for a quick read, to pass the time. This book is for you, you will not be disappointed in any way, shape or form. Give it a try!!
Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney Bedford was the cutest novella I have ever read. It is told from Refus’s point of view, who is a dog, which is adorable. I love Rufus’s spunk and attitude which easily can be picked up on. I got caught up in the moment as things slowly started to change for poor little Rufus. He really loved his Dad and as he started making life changes it really impacted Rufus. I really wanted scoop Rufus up and bring him with me where things hardly ever change. The twist really surprised me, I was expecting something totally different and couldn't believe it. I was happy with the resolution and how Rufus grew throughout the whole experience. I would love more from Rufus’s point of view, mostly because I am sure there were plenty of other new experiences in store for him. I hope other readers pick up this book!
Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord a woofable five-star read. Rufus P. McDougal tells the story of his dad Edward Wainwright, as he tries to overcome the loneliness of living in a country that’s not his home and decides with a little help from his mother (ie her signing him up) try’s out the on-line dating world. The only problem is that Rufus has been the centre of Edwards world since he adopted him from the cement prison he lived in previously, a place he never wants to return to. Rufus worries that if his dad falls in love with one of these women he won’t have the room in his heart for both of them, leading to hilarious some hilarious doggy activities. Gone are the cuddles, lazy days and take-aways, instead there are undesirable women. Will Edward find a woman who will love him and his dog? Or will Rufus be proved right, that there is only room in the heart for one? Holly Tierney-Bedord writes laugh out loud funny and cute novellas, you are guaranteed to read this with a smile on your face. It maybe because I am a dog lover, but I loved Rufus and his little doggy ways.
Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a cute little novella told in a dog's point of view. Rufus loves his owner very much and loves their single bachelor life. They spend their evenings sharing pizzas and watching movies. What could be better? Then Edward Rufus’ dad decides to try online dating and Rufus’ world is turned upside down. Several women and dates and gone are the days of them snuggling on the couch. All the while Rufus is doing everything in his power to ruin it. Especially when one comes around and keeps coming no matter how many times he poops in her purse or pees in her shoes. Will Edward put up with his shenanigans? This book was a cute fast read. I was able to finish it in one sitting. I thought Rufus was cute. The book had some funny parts and I was entertained. It was a fun little read and I would love to read more about Rufus’ shenanigans. Perhaps the next book can be his reaction to a baby lol! 4 star rating.
A quick and super cute book! Super cute and super fun! This book is perfect for you if (like me) you love animals and adore love stories. The entire book is told from the POV of Rufus the cute little dog. This unique POV makes the entire book fun and refreshing. I’ve never read a rom com quite like this and I think it was so clever to tell it from the dog’s perspective. I also really like the fact that the hero was British. That was an unexpected surprise! This audio book kept me smiling the entire time and the narrator did a great job. Five stars all around!
Note: I recurved a free copy of this audio book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
****4 stars**** “Dogged by Love” by Holly Tierney-Bedord
Dogged by Love is a quick sweet 4 star read by Holly Tierney-Bedord. Written from the point of view of Rufus, a Schnauzer-Terrier mix, who's dad, Edward, chooses to try his luck at online dating. Rufus explains how the life he has been accustomed to, with just him and his dad, changes as Edward dates a few different women.
The story was cute and lighthearted. The author showed Edward's feelings and thoughts through Rufus’ observations and through Edward talking to Rufus. The way Rufus’ jealousy, frustration, and confusion were shown were great and exactly what I've imagined pets are thinking when they do the things they do. This story also briefly touched on the added pressure that parents sometimes put on their adult children to find a mate and the doubt and uncertainty adults have when they take chances in the dating world. I enjoyed this one and give it 4 stars. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy, stress-free, playful and funny story.
Do you have an hour to spare to read a quick and witty story? You do? Great!! Pick this short story up, it will make you laugh and cringe and maybe even tear up a wee little bit.
It’s the cute telling of a dog named Rufus and his “dad” Edward. Rufus has quite the personality and he and Edward have a perfect combination of love and understanding for each other.
I’ve read a few of Ms Tierney-Bedord’s stories in the past and they are always delightful and cheery. I’ve never read a story of hers that didn’t make me smile and wonder exactly how her mind works. Dogged by Love is definitely one I will recommend to all my doggie friends on Facebook. Oddly enough, I have 5 dogs who I am Facebook friends with and only 3 of them I’m friends with their owners. I will actually recommend this to anyone who asks for a quick and fun read.
***THIS BOOK WAS PROVIDED TO NERD GIRL IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a unique story. Told completely from the viewpoint of Rufus the dog, it's a love story about Rufus and his "Dad", Edward.
Edward is British, living in America for work, and he's lonely, although Rufus is perfectly happy with the status quo. His antic's when Edward starts dating is truly fun, and the entire story is humorous.
Definitely a high 4-star read, rounded to 5 stars.

This is a romantic story from a dog’s point of view. Rufus has been adopted from a rescue home by Edward, a British expat. It is quite a unique telling of the story by a pet dog and the reader is treated to a very amusing take on his human’s love life and emotional state. Edward is lonely and only has Rufus for company. He is very close to his mum who lives in the U.K. and she suggested he get on a dating app to find the love of his life. Edward gave it a go and there were a few hit and miss dates that were hilarious. He found someone with a profile that was more compatible to his personality but he keeps on putting off contacting her because she appeared too good to be true. After so many fails, he finally messages her and they meet. Her name is Mikayla and she was everything he hoped she was. She too, loved dogs.
Rufus started to notice that Edward spent less and less time with him and even their diet veered towards the healthy food. Mikayla without a doubt has rubbed off on him with her healthy and sensible lifestyle. Rufus saw this as a problem and had not been very easy on Mikayla. In fact, he was downright mean to her. He peed on her bag, pooed just outside the toilet where she was sure to step on it, growled at her and was always acting jealous. Edward realized that Rufus was getting between him and Mikayla and planned on going away to spend some special time with her. It was really unsettling for him.
One time, Edward went for a run and collapses on the ground. Rufus panics and bolts away before anyone could catch him. Will Edward survive enough to have the love of his life? Will they ever find Rufus?
Rufus thoughts were everything that probably a smart dog would think about. I have never read a book before like this and it’s refreshing. The author did not attempt to humanize Rufus. He acted like any other dog in his situation: confused, lacked understanding and fearful of change. This story is hilarious and thoroughly entertaining. The male character is just as an ordinary guy with regular looks and on the heavy side but with a good heart. Not the typical book boyfriend that women would swoon about, and he’s just the boy next door who has hopes and dreams of being loved. He could be anyone we know in our everyday lives which makes this story more endearing. I have read some of the author’s books and I find them delightful and charming. This one is shorter than most. There was no boring moment and I cheered when the happy ending finally came. It made my weekend.
Rufus the dog spent some time at the dog pound but now he has the best dog life ever! He lives with his dad and together they like to eat pizza, beef stew and snacks and then cuddle on the couch and watch TV. Yes, his dad must go to work and doesn’t walk very fast in his slippers on outings but Rufus loves his calm, safe life. Edward the dad came to live in America because of a job transfer and he loves his life with Rufus, too!
Rufus the dog tells the “tale” of his life with his dad. Rufus’ simple, sweet, honest POV narration is the heart and soul of this gem.
‘Finally! A night with just my dad and me. It’s like old times. He’s got his sweatpants on and we’re hanging out on the couch together eating fried chicken. We’ve watched four episodes of The Big Bang Theory in a row! It doesn’t get any better than this.”
One night, after the best walk ever because of that dumb squirrel, Rufus spent the evening eating yummy crumbs, curled up on the couch by his dad as Edward fussed with his laptop. Rufus wasn’t too keen on which picture was best, or what Edward should write and Rufus started to snore before his dad hit the “send” key. But then…
“Someone said Yes!”
Rufus learned that dad was excited because someone responded to his online dating profile. Rufus begged for a ham sandwich as usual, without a clue as to how his delightful dog life was about to change when Edward started dating.
“I slept in a sunbeam in the morning and then on the couch all afternoon, which was fine, but now I have to go potty and I’m getting downright depressed. It’s getting dark outside! I’m not sure where my dad is, but I’m getting worried and mad. Today has been a very, very bad day.”
Will dad find a girlfriend? Will there be still be room in Edward’s heart for Rufus? And what about Grandma?
Author Tierney-Bedord’s ability to capture the feelings and thoughts of Rufus and the bond between a dog and his dad is bark-perfect, I mean pitch-perfect. This is a novelette, but the shortness of it seems perfectly attuned to what a dog would write. Rufus like food, walks and his dad.
Edward the dad has a lot in common with his dog. He is also a nice, kind, loveable man. Edward and Rufus are both a little lost and it is a sweet delight to read how they make their lives work. Disney or Pixar- here’s a story for you. I highly recommend this endearing charmer.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Dogged By Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is not only a sweet romance but what life is like for our pets. Including what they think when we get in a new relationship. Can Rufus accept the fact that Edward is looking for a lady friend? Rufus Rufus, the dog, is named after Rufus P. McDougal and is owned by a British lad. He is used to lazy days and having human food, along with not doing much in terms of exercising. Rufus doesn't seem to mind as he is happy to be home with Edward. Well, until Edward decided that he needed female companionship. There is a lot to like about Rufus. One of those things happened to be the way he thought of to get rid of some of Edward's dates. I love the way that he talks and thinks as well. Edward Edward is Rufus's owner and has been loving his company. Lately, he has wanted something more, especially after a talk with his mum. Edward isn't overly fat, but he is pleasantly plump. He has a hard time trying to form a relationship with the first two, but the third time is the charm. A lot happens involving Edward, Rufus, and the new lady friend. Narrator Rufus P. McDougal narrating a book with his name in it must have been excellent. Rufus has a great way of bringing Rufus the dog's voice out, and it's incredible. There isn't anything that I would change about it. Ms. Tierney-Bedord is a great author, and this story shows it. Five Stars Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is an excellent book told from the point of view of a dog. Not only that, but the voice narrating it is the person that the Rufus the Dog was named after. I think this book was fantastic and I'm giving it five stars. But there is more. I am also recommending it to anyone that is a fan of Holly's.
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this audiobook review of Dogged By Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord.
This adorable story by Holly Tierney-Bedord definitively answers the question; Is three a crowd? And the answer is, it depends on which three you are talking about. I loved, loved, loved this wonderful story and enthusiastically give it five stars. Holly Tierny-Bedord will definitely be on my wish list from now on. If you have a very best friend, why do you need a girl friend? That's the question Edward’s best friend Rufus wants answered. I mean, come on, the two of them are as close as the dynamic duo of Batman and Robin. They work out together, lounge on the couch together. Watch the games and eat plenty of nachos and ice cream together. What could be better? But, Edward seems to need something, or rather someone more than his bestest buddy. When Edward begins his dating routine (at his mother’s insistence), the perils and tribulations of online dating become apparent. Still, Edward is ever hopeful that he will finally find “the one”. Rufus just hopes he gets his buddy back. Soon. When the dating site finally pays off, Edward is cautiously optimistic. Rufus, however, finds himself bitten by the green-eyed monster of jealousy, as he pulls out all the stops in order to run Edwards’ new friend off. But Edwards’ girlfriend just won”t run. In fact, she ends up bailing Rufus out of a very tight jam, leaving Rufus with the very real possibility of their dynamic duo turning into the terrific trio.
Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a story that is told in the point of view of the dog. This story is cute, sweet and of course whats a story without love in it. I really enjoyed how this author was able to create a story in the dogs point of view and while reading it hearing the dog talk. You will enjoy how you will be able to relate to the characters in this story. This story is about jealousy and not feeling loved. Find out what happens when someone invades this dogs life!
Edward and his dog, Rufus is best friends but he is lacking something in his life. They share everything together including their meals. The only thing Edward is missing is a woman. This is when Edward decides to try online dating. He goes through several dates and is not happy. Then he finds one that he really enjoys but Rufus is determined to get rid of her. What will Rufus do when his world is turned upside down because of this woman? Will Refus finally realize that Edward has room in his heart for both of them? Will Edward finally find love despite Rufus jealousy? Find out what happens to these characters as they take you on a journey of a dogs life.
This is my first story written in the point of view of a dog and once again Holly Tierney-Bedord didn't let me down with this story. She has created a funny, witty dog character that you will love. Holly lives in Madison, Wisconsin. She is the author of several other books. This is a fast paced book that you will have you reading it in one sitting. It will have you hooked from the first page forward and you will need to see what happens to this dog. I highly suggest this story as I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I give Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord 5 stars.
Rufus loves his dad. He rescued him from the bad place with the cold cement floors and has showed him love ever since. His good traits? He’s got this nice big stomach to lay on, there are always crumbs to be had when he’s snacking, he shares all his meals with him, and takes him out whenever he needs to go. He’s the best dad a dog could ever wish for. But his dad doesn’t always seem happy. Something about being lonely. Rufus doesn’t understand, he’s there for him, why would he be lonely?
He starts talking about this online dating thing. Then he talks about women who respond. Why does he need a woman? Then he starts dating them! He is gone for much longer some nights, leaving Rufus alone! The women don’t seems to last to long though and then it’s back to their routine. Who needs them anyway? But maybe dad would be happier with one. Is there room for them all?
I really enjoyed this book. It’s so cute and being written in the dog’s point of view makes it even better. If you are an animal person and/or have pets, you can completely relate. I felt for Rufus so much! Yes, I was rooting for the dog! The way it’s written, you will too. It’s a fairly small book with makes it a great beach read or for a nice lazy Sunday on the couch.
Dogged by Love is a short novella about the lives of a man and his best friend Rufus. This is an unusual POV, not like anything I've read before no female or male but instead it's from Rufus the dog POV. You see through his eyes how their friendship blossoms being the man man relationship, and then how it take a massive reverse point when his dad Edward starts to spend more and more time away from the apartment and leaving Rufus to roam around by himself all alone. Edward joins a dating site and starts dating a different women most weeks and Rufus feels left out and forgotten about. Rufus doesn't want to go back to being forgotten in a kennel he wants his dad back, he wants to have the sofa, beer and pizza days. Can Edward find the women of his dreams, will Rufus understand that having another human around he will get even more love from them both? Dogs and their little tricks to cause destruction plays a part in this romantic but comedy short story. This is such a heartfelt novella of Rufus journey being the only one thing that is cared for to trying to understand why his dad is lonely and why he needs to meet someone to share his life with.
This is the second novel I read by Holly and I must say, it firmly cemented me as a fan of hers. I absolutely adored this cute, loveable and charming story about the love a dog has for his owner. The entire story is told from the perspective of Rufus, Edwards’s loyal companion. For quite some time it’s being Rufus and Edward against the world, so when Edward starts online dating, Rufus isn’t too pleased. He’s not too keen on learning to share his kind and nerdy human with another person. What begins is a comical and endearing tale of Edward’s dating mishaps, all told from Rufus’ point of view. I laughed quite a bit during this story and I even sighed out loud. Holly definitely nailed the behavior of a dog that is envious and frustrated as things slowly begin to change with his favorite human. I felt Edward was written very well, and there were moments, especially when he spoke with his mother, that had you feel incredibly sorry for the pressure he felt to find himself a nice girlfriend. For anyone who loves dogs, (even cats!) this story will bring a smile to your face and warm your heart. I would definitely love to read a sequel one day if Holly ever writes one. This story was an easy read, light-hearted and funny. Just perfect if you want something to put you in a great mood! (And if you love animals!)
Dogged by Love is a story narrated by Rufus, a puppy and his british dads quest for love. Edward is Rufus’s dad and he is lonely cries a lot and orders a lot of take out much to Rufus’s delight. At Edward’s mother's insistence he creates an online dating profile. Dad spends too much time away with the first few women the first has 7 kids that didn’t last long. The second was a rock climbing enthusiast dad fell of the wall and hurt himself he stayed home for a few daws from work after that date and she never called back. Next he messaged Mikayla. Soon he is spending too much time away from home and Rufus gets depressed. He does everything he can to deter her including peeing in her purse. After she springs him from the shelter he soon realizes she isn't so bad after all.
I loved this book the author did the first person point of view very well especially when it has 4 paws. It was very cute.
This is a good book to read if you have an hour or two in the evening. The story is told from Rufus’s point of view, which is dog of one of the main characters. This was a little hard to read in the beginning but eventually you’ll get used to it. The author gives witty and insightful perspective as to what we humans must seem like to our pets. I was not a big fan of the main characters Edward and Mikayla, I did not find them engaging enough, this though could be because the story is basically from Rufus’s view and that makes the book worth reading. I think if you want a good laugh looking at things from a dog’s life this book will be a hit, if you look at it from a romantic point of view probably not so much. This book has given me a curiosity about the author’s other titles and I will definitely be looking in to them.
Holly Tierney-Bedord’s novella length story, Dogged by Love is a unique spin on romantic comedy. This is told from Rufus’ point of view. Yes, Edward’s spunky dog. This story was quaint, cute and adorable in its telling.
Edward is dating, this doesn’t impact only Edward, but we see how it causes changes – both good and not so good, in Rufus’ world. Rufus loved his life filled with just him and Edward. Adding a female into that mix, well that’s another thing. It was quite hilarious reading this from a dog’s view, but it made it that much more fun and endearing. The author’s take on Rufus’ personality was quite hilarious when you see how things and people are defined and how excited Edward becomes on some of the things or qualities we’d absolutely run the opposite way for.
I’ve read several of Holly Tierney-Bedord’s short stories and have liked each one. If you’re looking for fun, short reads, this author definitely will give you what you are looking for with a cute and quirky twist.
Dogged By Love by Holly Tierney - Bedord is a wonderfully written Novella. One I could not put down till I finished it.
Rufus a loving pet of Edward was an only pet and spoiled beyond belief. He had the life and full attention of Edward, that was until Edward started dating again. This witty book follows the story of how a dog feels when a Woman comes into the picture and tries to steal his daddy away. What won't Rufus do to drive her away.
A must read for any dog lover, you will laugh at the little things and feel the hurt in others. Most of all you will feel the love of a dog owner and their dog.
Dogged by Love is another fun novella by Holly Tierney-Bedord! It is an absolute blast to read a story written from a point of view of a … dog! I have read couple of more Ms Tierney-Bedord novellas and I have to say that this one was as captivated read as the others! I admire the writer’s imagination – she writes the whole story from Rufus’ point of view who is the canine companion in this novella. It was so comical at points that I could not stop giggling – I could so easily just picture Rufus’ mischiefs that he gets into to keep his position as the only love of his daddy Edward! But of course it is all in vain, we all know that humans have this need to have other humans in their lives so it is inevitable that things go awry for Rufus. I suggest you take an evening and sit down with Rufus and join him in his shenanigans while Edward tries to find his way in the dating world! You will spend a fun night and I promise you, you will not be disappointed, Ms Tierney-Bedord knows how to write!
Book Review: Dogged By Love Author: Holly Tierney-Bedford Five Stars Dogged By Love, written by Holly Tierney-Bedford, is done in a most unusual point of view. It is from the dogs point of view. However I found it to be captivating and hilarious most of the time. Rufus is owned by Edward. Edward is from England and misses his mum. Edward is depressed and alone. Overweight and looking for a mate in life, Edward's mom has paid for a membership to an online dating site. Edward has met a few of the women and Rufus is not happy when he brings them home. The tale of how Rufus deals with these women that Edward brings home is quite funny. The commentary from Rufus is just what every pet owner wants to know is being said about and to them. Will Rufus every adjust to Edward's new girl friend? Hopefully so for all of their sakes. Rufus is hysterical and I really enjoyed this book. It was a suprising take on a story that I have never experienced before. Kelli Harper
This is the second book I have read by Holly Tierney-Bedord recently and I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Holly can write the cutest stories that make you giggle and give you a tingle that leaves you feeling good all over. DOGGED BY LOVE is a charming novella about the relationship between an adorable dog named Rufus and his owner, Edward Wainwright. The story is told from Rufus POV and Holly has given him a bigger than life whimsical personality. This is definitely a book for every dog lover!
Rufus and Edward spend all their time together. They are a great example of ‘The dog is man’s best friend’. They are inseparable until Edward decides to give on line dating a try. Rufus is obviously jealous and doesn’t understand why he isn’t enough anymore. Rufus pulls out all the stops to run off the women who come around and you will laugh out loud at his hilarious antics.
Will Rufus be able to get Edward to forget about women? Will Rufus open up to the idea of a woman in their lives? Don’t miss this story. It is hilarious and lighthearted!
This is a short, cute story told from the dog's point of view. While I often found the master's character whiny and annoying, I found the Rufus's viewpoint endearing, funny, and sweet. Rufus is totally okay with his life and the way his bachelor master lives it. He loves the routine and the people food his master shares with him. It's all great until his master tries dating, the Rufus's world is turned topsy-turvy. It's a unique story due to the viewpoint and the way Rufus interprets the world around him. I listened to the story and enjoyed Rufus P. McDougal's narration and the differentiation between characters.
Dogged by Holly Tierney-Bedord was a quick and light-hearted read. As a dog owner, I often wonder what my dog may be thinking and this story gives the reader a little insight into that. Through the voice of Rufus, the dog it is not your typical love story about a man and a woman, but more the love story of a broken man Edward, his previously abandoned unwanted dog Rufus, and a woman Mikayla who can help change all of that. This was a story about finding true love, however it also showcases how humans and animals can come from different walks of life, troubles, past hurts, and create a loving family. It was sensitive, loving, and outright funny! I found myself reading with a lot of awe, oooh, and laughing moments. This is a clean and fun book that I think any reader would love whether a teenager or an adult. I felt that the author did a wonderful job of bringing you in and through the whole book I could feel as if I was the dog lol.
This is a novella worthy of a strong four stars. In Dogged by Love, by Holly Tierney-Bedord, is an adorable story about a dog and his lonely, overweight human. In this work, the dog, Rufus, is the main character. He shows us his great frustration as his human, Edward, ignores his warnings about people and events. He watches as his best friend changes to fit three different people he believes he would like to be with. There is definitely a language barrier as Edward very seldom correctly assumes what he is saying. When a tragedy strikes, a valuable lesson is learned by all involved. I really enjoyed this novella and Holly‘s fun writing style allowed me to visualize the dog and his frustration and jealousy. I can just see the expression on the little dogs face as he rolls his eyes with each failed attempt. She also ties in the importance of doing what is necessary to be happy and healthy, within reason. This was a cute read.
