Kate Francis is a former New Jersey government executive who'd much rather be writing than anything else - except possibly reading. She loves figuring out what normal people do in abnormal situations, and how the simplest decisions we make end up being the ones that change our lives.
New Jersey is her favorite book setting, because it lets her tell people about the Garden State and how beautiful it really is, despite the pictures of the NJ Turnpike everyone sees.
She's a huge fan of J.D. Robb, Marie Force, Kathy Reichs and Alafair Burke.
This was a very fast paced book with multiple twists and turns. Well developed characters who you could follow easily. The plot revolved around a political family in New Jersey and the kidnapping of their young son. The case becomes more complicated when the boy was found...... Or was he? You read as the characters develop and form relationships...and some relationships break.... But through the twists in the plot you keep guessing . I can see the main character growing In future novels and look forward to reading more of this author.
Thanks to Kate Francis for giving me a fine and very enjoyable ride. I identified quickly with the protagonist and appreciated her work ethic, skill and empathy. I also enjoyed the complexity of the characters: some seemed like good guys, then not so good guys, then …. As for tension, while I enjoyed the pace through the first half the book, once I got to right around the 55% mark (I was reading the ebook version) I couldn’t put it down. It really drew me in and kept me in until the finish.
At the end, some surprises, and some characters I just didn’t like from the beginning and I turned out to be a good judge of their character. The dialogue in the novel reminded me very much of political dialogue today, which is not surprising, given Francis’ long experience in government: it really rang true.
I highly recommend Double Image. It will not disappoint!
This is a very intriguing mystery that I think mystery lovers would enjoy.
It has the element of "not what you think" surprise that every good mystery has, and you will likely formulate your own guesses along the way (another good element for mysteries).
I also enjoyed, from a personal standpoint, the localized New Jersey angle as I could relate to that quite easily. New Jersey, particularly central New Jersey, has one of the world's most famous kidnappings (Lindbergh baby) as part of its history.
EXCELLENT!!! I will gladly read Kate Francis again! I love the way the story flowed, I love the main character, I love most of the characters. I LOVE the fact that I "didn't see THAT coming". Just when I thought it was over... Yeah this was a GREAT edge of your seat book!!
Mystery novel. As the plots unfold and the reader expects solutions...surprise more complications emerge. More characters appear involved in what was the kidnapping of a baby boy. A book not to be misses. Well done. I was captivated from page 1 to the very end
excellent mystery that kept me guessing (and changing my mind about the outcome) right from the first chapter on....hope this author will write more mystery novels involving the same characters (?)
Kenna Devlin is an officer in the protection team, who protect the State Governor and his family. His baby son is kidnapped on her watch, and that sets her on the path to find him. I liked the characters, who were well constructed for the subsequent interactions.
Extremely well written without any foul language. Towards the end I guessed at one of the hidden players but was quite surprised when everything was revealed.
