One glance at Nora's image, captured so perfectly on the small canvas, causes a surreal pang of warmth in my chest. Her expressive light blue eyes enchant the darkest parts of me.
As the months pass, that pang of warmth smolders to an all-consuming need to possess the girl in the painting. To claim her. To make her beg. To own her.
Soon those expressive blue eyes will look to me for guidance. Soon Nora will belong to me. I have so much to teach her...
NORA
I've made a terrible mistake, and now I'm headed to an auction block in a brutal mountain town. I should've been a good girl and married the man of Papa's choosing, and now I'm going to pay for my sins.
Before I'm sold to the highest bidder, however, a handsome stranger rides out of nowhere and buys me from the slavers. I'm shocked to discover my new master is Luke Holsten--the very man to whom I was betrothed.
There's no escaping the arranged marriage now, and my new husband is quick to make me understand that he expects not only obedience, but my absolute surrender...
Publisher's Note: This book originally appeared in the box set Bound, Spanked & Loved under the title His Runaway Valentine, but several brand new (and shamelessly naughty scenes) have been added for your reading pleasure.
USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR SUE LYNDON writes naughty, heartfelt romance filled with sexy discipline, breathless surrender, and scorching hot passion. Hard alpha males, strict husbands, fierce alien warriors, and stern daddy-doms make her go weak in the knees. She’s a #1 Amazon bestseller in multiple categories, including Sci-Fi Romance, Historical Romance, BDSM Erotica, and Fantasy Romance. She also writes vanilla sci-fi romance under the name Sue Mercury—but no matter the genre or pen name, her books always have a swoon-worthy happily ever after.
Set in same year as His By Law so again, it read like a historical to me.
Heroine is set to marry the hero, someone she has never met. A few days before the wedding, she decides to head to her cousin's house to hide out until after the wedding day. Ends up getting picked up by slave traders. Hero ends up saving her, she doesn't know that's her fiance when he does. He takes her home, spanks her for running away from him, makes her stand in the corner afterwards and tells her they're still getting married. Tells her she will obey him in all things or be punished.
Another super short read.
Ages are never mentioned but it's said that he's twice her age and wanted her from the minute he saw a photo of her that her stepfather showed him.
This done in one quick read is an intense dive into another world, part future Earth/post United States, part dystopic rough living, and bands of roving slavers snatching up women to sell off for any number of reasons or uses.
Nora, in a perfect world, would marry for love, which almost by definition means she doesn't want to marry a stranger. Luke can understand getting cold feet when it comes to an arranged marriage, but running away? And in such a dangerous world? Good thing Luke has what it takes to teach Nora a lesson... it two... or three.
This quick read offers a lot of bang for the buck, immediately dropping the reader into the heart of the story. While most of it means toward Nora's side of the tale, just enough is from Luke's to make him a fully fleshed out, and perhaps more interesting character.
This is the second book in the Dark Embrace series by Sue Lyndon. The year is 2689, in the region formerly known as The United States of America, 600 years after the lights went out. Luke Holsten is a very wealthy man, which is a rarity at this time. He sees a painting of a beautiful young woman named Nora that her Stepfather showed him and he becomes obsessed with her. Her Stepfather wants Nora and his own two daughters to marry a wealthy man so they can have a better life. Luke propositions him and offers him money so that he can marry Nora and her Stepfather agrees. Nora is unhappy that she's being forced into an arranged marriage with a total stranger. Her Stepsister suggests she runaway to her cousin's compound so their father knows she's serious about not getting married. When Luke arrives to collect his new bride he finds everyone in her house frantic because she's disappeared. Her stepsister confesses her idea for Nora to runaway but they soon find out she never made it to her cousin's compound. That can only mean one thing that she was taken by slavers who will auction her off to be used and abused by a stranger. Will Luke be able to save her in time ? How will he punish her if he does save her ?
I enjoyed reading Saving His Runaway Bride(Dark Embrace Book 2), all about Kate a young girl who was promised to Luke Holstein, but instead ran away and was captured by slave traders. Luke rides up to the caravan and wishes to buy the girl taken outside of Gerrardsville. He pays money and Kate is given to Luke, and he will wed her when he gets home to Marystown. The author wrote a futuristic story about a young women who was captured and about to be sold! Read this story about Kate & Luke Holstein! I enjoyed it, I hope you will as well!
Ohhhhhhh Luke needs to punish me lol I've been mighty too
Fun! Sexy! Background is the story is set in the future after a societal and technological collapse. Adds a certain primitive touch to this BDSM fantasy story. Both characters were very appealing and Luke certainly knows how to punish a bad girl. I really found myself lost in this story and enjoyed it very much. Well written and nice pacing. Looking forward to reading more from the author it is my first book by Sue Lyndon. #Spanking #Punishments #Littles
In Saving His Runaway Bride, the second book of Sue Lyndon’s Dark Embrace series, readers meet Nora and Luke. In this futuristic romance readers witness the romantic journey of our two lead characters. Nora’s stepfather negotiated an arranged between Nora and Luke. Fear of the unknown causes Nora to act irresponsibly and she runs away only to be picked up by slavers. What happens when Luke arrives and finds out his betrothed is missing? Will he pursue the slavers? Can he save her? You must read tis book to discover what unfolds. I enjoyed this delightful book wherein readers witness the Nora and Luke’s romantic journey from strangers to that of a loving couple. Nice job, Ms. Lyndon.
Very enjoyable short read, the second in the series. I read the first yesterday and seen the third was set at Christmas as well so I went ahead and read this one. This one is actually a naughty little book set around St . Valentine's Day. I don't want to wait to finish the series though so I finished it.. I liked this one more than the first but they were both good reads.
Set up as a bit of a mail-order bride to a wealthy man she's never met, a young woman decides she'll liberate herself prior to the marriage. What she doesn't count on is her betrothed, who isn't aware of her plans, and has something to say about them. Overall a 3.5 because the characters seem to gel in their respective roles.
This book reads like a historical romance, but its actually in a dystopian future. Not exactly sure why the morals, manners, and way of life would revert quite like this, but it works for this story.
average erotica, better than some, an easy read. The story was interesting enough to finish, with a few intriguing scenes, that said I would be hard pressed to pay more than one dollar...
A good story of a lifestyle marriage, I really enjoyed it. How it is maintained and how it is done. When she made mistakes it made me catch my breathe and say oh no. It was very exciting and real. I look forward to reading more of your stories.
Put off by being sold to a stranger, Nora runs away before her wedding day and still end up in the arms of her beau. This is a wildly seductive tale with elements of past and current. A little strange but not unlikely.
This reads like the kind of erotica posted on free sites, but a pretty high quality by that standard. It’s a kink I enjoy, a quick and dirty little read.
Short but no cliffhanger and you have once again did a beautiful job of writing this book. You don't disappoint and that what readers wants. I wish you continue success in all your work. DH from New York City P.s. I don't tell the story I read that not what a review is about. I am letting the buyer know that you will not be disappointed. Enjoy
I received a copy from the author but also purchased as you have to support your favorite authors (I also have KU and have borrowed several of Sue Lyndon and Sue Mercury books). I really like these short quick reads. I liked Nora and Luke. Nora, who is normally an obedient daughter, can't understand why her stepfather is having her marry a stranger that lives in another town. She tries to evade the wedding but ends up in trouble. Luke, who has become obsessed with her after viewing her portrait, rescues her and takes her home with him. I love that Nora realized the error she had committed and how she struggled to make it right. Luke was awesome in most of his dealings with Nora and I especially like his actions after he rescues Nora, as they prove his willingness to please Nora and show his depth of character. Overall, I like this series (which includes His by Law) and I look forward to reading more of Sue Lyndon's books.
Story has a lot if spankings but it is a wonderful story of two people in an arranged marriage falling in love. This is post-apocalyptic America and while we don't get much of how things are done and the laws....we get the couples situation and it's got a lot of sexy times but sweetness added in. I throughly enjoyed this book
OMG loved this story plot great spicy love scenes. I really enjoyed reading about the main character kept me interested in the story great afternoon read. I received a reader advance copy of the book for a honest review.
Made me think of an abusive relationship. I understand she ran away but instead of meeting right before the wedding meet months ahead so she can get used to him. I understand these relationships but to spank her till she is begging and crying. Really? He sound have stopped at the first signs of her crying. Give her some space to get used to him. He was an overbearing asshole!
