Sophie Shields has been captured by the man she's been trying to escape for most of her life... This time, no one can save her. Not even Cole.
Benjamin Powell is the powerful politician who molested Sophie when she was only a child. She changed her name, her hair color, and moved across the country multiple times to get away from him, but her enemy has been intent on finding her.
And when he finally has her in his grasp, he will make her pay for abandoning him and leaving him crippled.
Unless Snow can stop him.
But this man is so evil that even Snow, the violent, unhinged, fearless part of Sophie, begins to feel afraid.

Fun fact: The author's real name is Nadia-- she chose her pen name because her sister's name is Loretta, and her sister is lost.
Loretta delivers again with another amazing addition to the Sophie Shields series. While our heroes have gone through some dark times before, this is by far the toughest journey they have had. To put things simply, it can be heart breaking at times, but you know that they’re strong and smart enough to find a way through. I really hope that we get more of Sophie, Scar, Snow, and Cole.
“Love isn’t safe, Cole. By definition, love means risking everything.”

A BRIEF SYNOPSIS
Sophie was been abducted by the man who abused her as a child, Benjamin. She wakes up tied to a bed, drugged, with no idea of where she is. Cole, Lucianna, Rodrigez, and Zack all try to save her before it is too late.
THINGS I LIKED
Not much. I say that liberally. What. The. Fuck. Was. This. Book. I like Rodrigez. I like Lucianna. I liked Zack until about 75% completion. I liked that it took me about 3 hours total to read the book, so I would never have to read it again.
THINGS I FELT NEUTRAL ABOUT *SPOILERS*
I don’t even know where to begin. I hadn’t mentioned it in my other reviews, but so much of these books felt like old fanfiction I used to read as a 12-year-old. There have been so many tropes in these books, friends to lovers, chosen family, multiple personalities, millionaires, fake family, etc. I just did not think the author would possibly add another. I said to a co-worker while I was reading The Bulletproof Boy that I think the author may just be pulling tropes out of a hat at this point. Absolutely wild.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE *SPOILERS*
Most of it. Literally, 75% of it. Get ready for my rant. Never, in any book that I have read, have I seen this. Just details beyond what was necessary. If the author was going for shock value, she definitely got it. This book just brought the already lack of realism to a surprising new level. The switching back and forth between chapters was just jolting. We would go from something so sickening and cruel to Cole talking to his Family friend about his parents. It just did not make sense to me.
Now, let's talk about Snow.
This is when I stopped. Closed the tab on my computer. Took a deep breath. Screamed into my hands. I was done. I didn’t think I could do it anymore. The only reason I continued was for Only to be disappointed again by the fact that guess what? The complete lack of realistic behavior at this point just had me going in circles. I just laughed. I couldn’t do anything else. I had to stop attempting to make sense of any of it. It doesn’t make logical sense. My brain can’t handle it. Send help.
CONCLUSION
I am reiterating that I am not usually a picky reader. This just literally blew my absolute mind. I have nothing against Loretta Lost as an author. She wrote her story the way she wanted to write it and she did it well. It’s just not the story for me at this point. I apparently value realism much more than I thought I did. I genuinely do not know if I will be finishing the series. If I do, it won’t be because I actually want to know what happens, It will be because I want to know just how further insane it can get.
This starts off right where the last book left off... so if you haven't read the series, I'd suggest going back and reading it from the beginning. It's amazing! That being said...
Poor Sophie has been kidnapped by the man who abused her repeatedly as a child. A lot of what she went through (while people that loved her searched diligently) was hard to read. It was real and graphic... but at the same time I couldn't stop reading . It was a page turner. I literally read this whole book in about six hours almost non stop. I was on the edge of my seat. The twists and turns is one of the things I love about Loretta Lost's writing. I never see it coming and I am left with my jaw hanging... reading as fast as I can to get more.
Hearing her start to integrate with herself was awesome... the conversations between her alts were some of my favorite parts.
This book made me laugh, made me cringe a lot, and made me cry. If she decides to write more of Sophie's story I would read it in a heartbeat, but I was left with a completed feeling. I hesitate to say more... no spoilers here lol .
So now I anxiously await her next series :) She just gets better and better with every book :)
Sophie Shields has been abducted by the very same man that raped her when she was a child. It's up to her to escape.
I have read all of Loretta Losts books and I have to say that while I enjoyed the story I did find a lot of it to be really graphic and violent. There were times that I had to walk away from the book for just a little bit. But like all her books though you can't stay away for long. All in all a good read just be prepared for the violence and graphic sex.
I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it. The second was okay but long and boring in spots. Got pretty good at the end so I paid for the third. I'm 24% into it and it starts reading like a cheap sex novel. If I wanted a sex novel, I would have bought one of those. I regret paying $4.99 for this last book. I won't be reading any more of her books and I'm not finishing this one.
After reading both Fireproof Girl and Bulletproof Boy there was no need to test the water. I was totally emerged back into the story with Sophie ,Cole....from the first page. Strong characters, well written story line and an eye for detail have made Shatterproof Heart by Loretta Lost another enjoyable read.
Loretta Lost nailed awesome characters, a great story and the novel is paced beautifully. This series is just plain awesome. This definitely has my inner Book Junkie screaming for more. So, I can readily give my highest recommendation to get it and hop on this wild, crazy ride!
There are still too many questions left unanswered in this series, especially in this last book which brought up even more! I can't even read the Eternity series because Clarity and this one were more than a little depressing, but at least Clarity had a real ending. It seems like this one just stopped.
The graphic nature and language are a little extreme for some to read. Amazing what your mind can do to when placed under such stressful situations. Add another someone to the world of PTSD while simply trying to get through the daily grind. Well written giving the reader an in depth understanding of the main character.
The most graphic of the trilogy, Sophie's character is way out in this one. One tip on these books; you almost have to read them in order and you really can't read them independently as book #1 and #2 end in cliffhangers. Still I thought they were worthwhile even if a bit too romantic.
What? Was this book written by a different author. I loved the other books, but this one was so contrived, hard to believe this was book 3. Since I like the author I will read a new book by her before I give up. Hard to recommend.
Riveting combination of violence, love, kind-hearted moments of laughter and ultimate victory of hope. Cannot wait to discover the new horizons through future publications from this talented writer.
