A great book! Lots of interesting details about Scottish history and the prodigious people who make up Scottish heritage. I'm finding all sorts of references to events mentioned here in other resources, so this book really adds depth to all my historical reading.

Really fun read of a few things relating to Scottish history in the realm of inventions, combined with a feel for what kind of ideas/objects of the world were shaped by the way Scots thought/did them. Seeing as I live in Scotland at the moment, this will be extremely useful for conversation topics with born and bread Scottish people. Can I say Scot more?

A collection of anecdotes from the history of Scotland. Light reading, for sure. It is sometimes informative, sometimes amusing. However, it suffers from a very haphazard organization. Not exactly chronological. It feels like the authors just began collecting random bits and pieces of Scottish history and culture and then gathered them together and called it a book. Very amateurish illustrations reinforce this conclusion. Amusing enough, but don't expect too much.

I wanted to like this more than I did. It did have some very interesting tidbits in it of things I definitely wasn't familiar with. However, it was a very disjointed and disconnected feeling read and suffered for it a bit in my opinion. This is a very light read, easy enough if you just want a random smattering of interesting tidbits of history and I don't regret reading it, just do definitely wish it had been a bit more organized a bit differently.

Gifted to me by a friend prior to an upcoming trip to Scotland. I knew most of these stories from other reading I had done so nothing really new an interesting for me. It feels like it would be more fun for kids.

Honestly, it was okay. It read like a Reader's Digest/textbook. Not my cup of tea, but it had some interesting stories.
