After being ambushed, Recker goes missing for several days and is presumed dead. Once he returns, he seeks retribution on the men responsible and turns to an unlikely source to help him get his revenge. As he embarks on his plot for retribution, he must not only carefully navigate around Mia's growing feelings for him, but also his own feelings for her.
While still not forgetting his main goal of helping the innocent, Recker also further cements his relationship with Tyrell by helping him with a family problem. Though he still keeps Mia at a distance, they can't help but become closer as Recker investigates the disappearance of one of her closest friends.
As Recker embarks on his deadly rampage, Jones worries about The Silencer's growing reputation amongst the public and government agencies.

These are best read/listened to in order and events in this book build off of what happened in book 1. As such this review may contain spoilers to The Silencer.
I enjoyed this even more than the first. Partially because I’m used to Ryan’s writing style as well as the world he’s created for Recker & Jones. Also, now that the characters know each other better, the banter between them is a lot of fun. Worldbuilding is established and it’s more “story” if that makes sense.
Recker is still looking for “Seventeen”, but with that fairly fruitless - he heads out on the “jobs” Jones has for him…and now that he has some notoriety, individuals are asking for his help as well.
Ryan has also created some enjoyable “morally ambiguous” characters that Recker regularly interacts with. There’s also a potential romance with Mia that adds further depth.
Brian Hutchison continues to be a solid choice for the series. (Any issues with tinny/echo from the first book are gone.). He does a good job with the various characters’ personalities and voices.
This is not a novel really. It’s an extended episode. In my review of the first book in this series, I opined that it was very similar to a TV show (the name of which I can’t recall), so this is like the ‘screenplay’ of an episode. So, it’s interesting, kinda, but it’s not a novel. It’s just episodic.
One observation is that Mia, is really tedious and annoying. I can easily do without her... .
I listened to the audiobook version of this title and it was narrated really well by Brian Hutchison.
EDIT: ‘Person Of Interest’ is the name of the show. I don’t know which came first, but the show was better. The show had the police as ‘accomplices’, rather than the gang lords...
I truly enjoyed the characters and plot. Enjoyable, interesting, engaging and well narrated (and written) by the author.
2nd reading April 13, 2023
Thoroughly engaged in this, with a well written and excitement-filled plot and an excellent narrator. An engrossing read. It ends in a lead-in to the next in series (a hook). Clean (except for the murders). 🥸
I didn’t really like the first one In this series (two stars) but thought I’d give the second one a try since I picked up the box set for peanuts. I want my peanuts back! It was worst than the first. The long drawn out angst of the characters combined with the lack of viable plot and slow action was exhausting. Will not be reading book three.
By the time I finished the first in the Silencer series, I had to have more. And since I read everything, or nearly everything on my various Kindle platforms, I clicked on the next novel and immediately launched into "Fully Loaded," the second in the Mike Wrecker books. Author Mike Ryan sends his protagonist into harm's way at the onset of the novel. Wrecker's been shot, and the only person he knows he can trust, a nurse named Mia, becomes his salvation. Should he enter a hospital or go to any doctor's office, Wrecker knows his former compatriots within the CIA would catch up with him. Going straight is too dangerous. Mia is one of his rescues. He saved her from an abusive former boyfriend, and the two of them have become more than acquaintances. But just a bit. Of course, nursing a wounded hero for hire back from the brink makes them a little more than friends. They've shared an experience few others have had. Wrecker's condition improves, but he's uncertain of his feelings for Mia. He likes her. She likes him. But he's tainted. He's a man with a past whose friends often wind up dead, and he can't justify bringing Mia into that world. He's got to make a decision. Or does he? Ryan writes his character into a flurry of action so he doesn't really have to think about following his feelings. Wrecker has to save the day as danger for all of them, even his handler David Jones, is just around the corner.
Another fun read about Recker and the Professor. The plots aren't complicated, most characters are transparent, the bad guys are predictable and there's little worry about what's coming next. For my reading purposes at present, it's just what I want in a light, easy read. As an aside comment, if the series is going to continue as an almost daily, chronological review of the characters' lives and interactions, string some more days together. Now the individual books are painfully short. I have already purchased the third installment.
This installment has a wide range of action, emotion, suspense and thrills. We see Mike Recker getting closer to Mia in a relationship he cannot see ending well. He also gets involved in some gang/mafia-like groups and some of the unsavory action they sometimes create. Then, Mia comes to Mike regarding fears that a long-time friend has gone missing and may be dead. The twists of action and relationships combine to tell a compelling story that will keep you riveted, start to finish.
Michael Recker and his employer, David Jones, are in the business of helping people. Unfortunately, Recker is shot by an assassin. His friends in low places help him locate the killer, but the consequences lead to more deaths. In the meantime Recker helps a young teenager who trying to ward off gang member recruitment. After even more deaths involving gang members, the surrounding neighborhood is grateful to the Silencer. A good read!
I have submitted this review after listening to the audio book of this title from within the series set box. (Audible.com.au)
Michael continues his work, even after getting another bullet wound. Heis helped by the nurse he had rescued from the abusive boyfriend. He then teams up with one of the three local bosses to deal with the person who had sent the shooter after him. There's more going on, but I would only ruin a good tale with my poor synapses of this author's excellent story.
An interesting concept about an ex-CIA agent who after leaving the agency ends up being the Silencer. Someone who tries to protect or prevent bad things from happening to good people. There are several events taking place in this book, the last activity is trying to locate a missing woman that just happens to be a close friend of his girlfriend.
A good follow up to the first silencer book. The story again has significant similarities to the Person of Interest tv series but that is no bad thing. The storyline is interesting and gripping and the action constant. The characters are attractive and help keep you looking forward to the next book.
Since a body that had been dead for a week would produce a tremendous smell, the end was unbelievable -- when they first examined the car, they'd have smelled it. Even before opening the car. Then taking Mia out to eat immediately sounded weird as her good friend was just found dead. Till then, excellent book.

Kept my interest thru the whole book. Lots of twists and turns. Really enjoying the dialogue, the characters, and the storylines. Hope the books keep coming. Thanks, Amarillo Turtle
This was another good read from Mike Ryan. I am enjoying the series, The Silencer. Mike and his co-worker are always on the look out to help those in need, as long as they are the good guys. But Mike gets injured and his new friend, a nurse, needs to care for him. Where will this lead? On to the next in the series!
Great sequel I really like this series so far.... it’s a lot like the orphan X series.... even the love interest name in both series is Mia. Not sure if this a coincidence?
Can't read these books as individual books. You miss too much of the back story. Each book is more like a chapter. Not reading anymore in the series. not buying each chapter.
He was busy helping lots of people but he was unable to have a happy ending for his friend's friend. The ending was perfect for making you want to read the next book.
