Ryder Wolfe is a solitary man. Happy, living alone with his horses and the mountains as company until the man, who rescued him from the streets as a lost teen, sends him a beautiful woman in need of protection. He takes her in even as it goes against his very character. Now he’s fighting his desire to have her for his own with all he has. But his job is to protect her, not seduce her. Kelsey Sullivan hasn’t had the best luck with men but then one of them decides to stalk her, and make her life miserable. A family friend sends her to Clifton, Montana. To the one man trusted to protect her. But what if the man protecting her is the man she wants more than any other, only he insists on protecting her, even from himself? Can Ryder accept her love and trust in the man she believes he is?
Susan was born and raised in a small town in the western part of Maryland surrounded by the Appalachian mountains. She moved to Tennessee in 1996 with her husband and two children. She's been writing for as long as she can remember and is currently writing three different series. The Men of Clifton Montana which will be seven stories and The Bad Boys of Dry River will be six stories. The Callahans will be about four cousins. Although it is best to read the stories in order, all can be read as standalone. She is also writing four standalone books. Excerpts from her books can be read on her webpage: susanfisherdavisauthor.weebly.com and you can also sign up for her newsletter there. Susan tries to thank each person for their review. She would love to hear from her readers and promises to answer all email: susan@susanfisherdavisauthor.com
This book was beautiful and sexy and I cried good tears. Ryder and Kelsey are both broken souls and even though Kelsey can see a future with Ryder, he is too broken...or so he thinks. Kelsey fights for Ryder and doesn't let him push her away, and eventually Ryder realizes the error of his ways...but not without pain on both sides. Ryder is another one of those sexy Men of Clifton, where Sex on a Stick is the norm. Keep them coming Susan, I get lost in each and every one of your books and have a new boyfriend every night!!!
I think I've said this before, but if there was one book that I could jump inside of, it would be any of the Men of Clifton books by Susan Fisher-Davis. I love this small town and characters. They are full of sexy cowboys and their funny and sweet gals. These characters are lovable and stick with you, this story of Ryder and Kelsey is no different. I loved their chemistry and interaction with one another. Quick read, happily ever afters and always look forward to reading more from this author.
Susan can write any cowboy novel and I'll read it! Even though Ryder was a rollercoaster machine of emotions, I loved the banter between Ryder and Kelsey. She was a spunky - knows what she wants - lady who wouldn't give up on Ryder, no matter how stubborn he was. Ryder himself was hot, but I wanted to slap some sense into him, just like Kelsey wanted to.. I don't think I've read such a story where the male is overly stubborn LOL. Great story. I love this series!
We need a change in plots from gun toting baddies.
Another sexy hero fights love, but succumbs in the end. Ryder is one of several friends who lives in Clifton, Montana. One by one his friends are finding their life long partners, but having been physically and mentally abused by horrendous parents he is determined to steer clear of a committed relationship. He believes that he too would turn out like his father. While in a bar, a beautiful blonde walks in. He is stunned to discover she is asking for him by name. Kelsey has been sent for her own safety to Montana until her stalker is caught. The couple who found Ryder as a sixteen year old runaway and brought him up, have sent her to stay at his ranch, only the message has not yet got to Ryder. He is definitely not happy. Another lovely hero to drool over, but definitely the author now needs to find alternative plots to gun toting baddies. Not every man in the series needs to rescue his future wife in the same way, surely.
Am thoroughly enjoying this series. Be aware that the location, the weather and the friends/community are all strong secondary characters in each story. They do not hesitate to support the main characters when necessary nor to kick their posteriors if that is required. It was unfortunate that the H was the son of 2 spawns of Satan who should never had reproduced He was fortunate to be adopted by a loving and compassionate couple who saved him. I enjoyed how his biologic parents got their karma and hope they never see another day outside of prison walls.
The relationship between the main characters matched their healing process and the love of the 'parents' provided a strong a role model of how a healthy relationship could be. Well done.
I chose this rating because this was actually a really great book. I really enjoyed pretty much all of the characters. This was a book of protection, compassion, kindness, acceptance, stubbornness, realizing your worth and also falling in love. I enjoyed writer and Kelsey story. A great job of putting these characters together. But it 1 point it really got on my nerve when they was going back and forth back and forth I had to step away and come back to it. But it all worked out in the end, great read! I recommend this book to all cowboy lovers and romance readers.
He never wanted love, marriage or children. His upbringing had been abuse and neglect until he ran away at 16 years old. That’s when he found a married couple that taught him what love was but he was still afraid that he could be like his bio dad and be abusive. She grew up in a wonderful family full of love but she had a stalker that said she was his and so her uncle sent her to his son’s ranch to keep her safe. She fell hard for the cowboy but he was having none of that. Enjoy
Kelsey ,Ryder story is amazing.Ryder parents were nasty People ,they were abusive alcoholics selfish, they were not Nice at all. At age 16 Ryder ran away from , found I self alone Sleeping barn and that where his change for the best.Kelsey is Nurse all she wanted was attention, she got attention from a stocker. Her godfather send her Ryder for protection. Ryder has issue’s,anyway this is great good read 👍🏽📕💯
Each book gets better than the last. I love the way you connect each new story to the last. Each goes back to how it all started. This one was stubborn. He didn't believed in himself. Afraid he would not only hurt the woman he loved but any children they may have. I can't wait to start book six. The romance in there books is Hot. Even at my age if I could find a man to do those things to me. I would marry him right away.
Ryder: Amazing! I loved all the challenges but she was the one for him even though he needed to be hit over the head. Lots of surprises and suspense. I loved the loved that the small town has for everyone. All the hot men help as well. Kelsey was a very special woman who needed the right Cowboy. Great story
I just fell in love with Ryder. He lived alone because he feels he is unlovable but when a woman is sent to him for protection, things start changing. Kelsey has someone stalking her and she needs to be somewhere safe. Ryder feels safe but will he change his mind about love? And will he be able to keep Kelsey safe?
I didn’t like him. He was an A•• to and about a woman he had previously “dated”. I don’t like MC that treat women like they are only good for sex. That’s a sign she should run. Grown men in their 30’s with commitment and daddy/mommy issues aren’t very sexy. The back and forth between these two was annoying. I didn’t really like her. She called him names and slapped her
I like to Kelsey and Ryder's story, the characters are strong and well written. Child abuse is an awful thing and it's a terrible thing to try to have to overcome. I love how they finally get together.
Susan Foster Davis has done it again! I love the Clifton, Montanna! As I was browsing into her reprtorier, I realized that so many more men oh Clifton and it will be awhile before stop reading them!!!!!!!
The tortured hero has always been my jam. Ryder is the jam, jelly, preserves, molasses & compote! This book will grab you by the heart and squeeze! Can't wait for more!
The story was great. Ryder and Kelsey started to go forth and back. I mean she wants to stay, he push her away. The he comes after her, but then she push him away. The she comes back and.... I had a whiplash.
Ryders reasoning he clung to for pushing her away, was kinda understandable, but still idiotic.
Kelseys reasoning after his push I could for sure understand. He needed to proof himself, that he fought his demons and that pushing her away wouldn’t happen again. And what he did? Gave up! That what he did. First obstacle and he gave up, the SOB. What? He thought, he would show up, spread some talk and she would fall into his lap? The idiot.
Then Kelsey has a talk with someone and those reason are forgotten. Like they never was on the table. And she runs back to him. And it's Ryders time to be a prick to her. I mean, I heard of change of heart, but this was just freakn ridiculous! Instead of them talking out and acting as adult, they acted like this.
In all it was okay to spend some time with a book.
Wow! Another sexy book by Susan Fisher Davis. Ryder is a very complicated man, he's sexy, sweet and caring and would do almost anything for his late in life family and all his friends from Clifton. He likes lots of women but he can't ever see himself settling down and sharing his life (actually he knows he won't) he has a past he can't forget, until he meets Kelsey. Kelsey is in trouble, she has a stalker, one that has been after her for years and will stop at nothing until he has her. Kelsey's family steps in and sends her to Montana under the protection of Ryder.
Love their sexy and complicated relationship. I love how much they want each other but Ryder puts the breaks on anything more than sex. These two are sexy as hell together and are perfect for each other. Love their fights and arguments... (Kelsey is one determined women) and they are both hotheaded. Love Ryder's sexy as hell friends stopping by too. Great story, another must read by this author. 5 stars
Ryder was such a fun read. One of the many things I love about the Men of Clifton series is being able to revisit the characters from earlier books in each new story. I have loved them all so far, so getting to see them again and again is great. With that being said, I love that a new character was introduced as Ryder's love interest! Kelsey came from in from out of town, so she's brand new to Clifton. It was great seeing her fall in love with the town, and with Ryder, of course. There were some ups and downs for the couple, but they were so right for each other! And she fit in great with the girls, too. Another sexy cowboy, and another great read, from Susan Fisher-Davis!
Ryder is a great guy with a complicated past who thinks he is happiest living alone. Kelsey easily trusts people and shares things about her life with the wrong guy who decides to stalk her. When Kelsey is sent to Ryder for protection the bond they form and the love that blossoms is very cute. Love the playfulness between the couple but until they can decide they deserve to be loved do they have a chance. Glad they realize what they have in each other and take a chance on love.
Love the Men of Clifton Series - so cute the way when the girls get together they always talk about how hot all the guys are. Look forward to more books in this Series.
Heart-felt and earnest, this book was a highly enjoyable read. I love brooding cowboys and Ryder is the penultimate one. Scarred by his past, he hides his fear of intimacy behind a gruff exterior. Kelsey is a lovable heroine, and I admired her forthrightness and courage to say and do what she wanted. This is an incredibly romantic tale, peopled by these two wondrous characters and the ones from previous instalments of this series. I've loved reading this series and Ryder equals Wyatt in the race to be my book boyfriend. Containing all the elements of a perfect romance, Ryder is a book that is sure to capture your heart and warm it to the core.
Ryder had a horrible childhood. Frank and Grace took him in and taught him what real parents were supposed to be like. Frank had sent Kelsey to him to protect. Kelsey is being stalked. Frank has sent her to Ryder for protection. Kelsey has told Ryder how she feels but he keeps telling her he can't have a relationship. She leaves. Will he wisen up and go after her?
A woman is sent to a ranch in Montana and informs Ryder his adopted father said he would protect her from a stalker. Although he prefers his solitude, he agrees to help. Tension mounts between the two as he strongly tries to fight his attraction and struggles with his insecurities .
I loved this story. Ryder has always felt he was unworthy of love. He was determined to be alone the rest of his life. In walked Kelsey. She was determined to change his mind. Will Kelsey's love be enough to help Ryder through this? Looking forward to the next book.
Loving this series. The characters are amazing and really fun. The sense of humour is right up my alley, love it. Ryder is a complex character and together with Kelsey they make a great couple. So hot!!!!!!
love the characters the story the emotions. the pages pull you in making you want more. I'm so looking forward to reading more of Susan Fisher Davis books. The books are very enjoyable to read and leaves you feeling the journey
F'loved this book!!! I had my heart shredded and put back together again! Susan knows how to write a story and OMG does she know hot sexy cowboys!!! 10 stars!!!!!
I love this series, but i couldnt really connect to Ryder. The storyline was good, but i feel ilke he was just lacking something compared to the other men.
