ABCs at the Park

Rate this book
Each book in this series presents the alphabet from A to Z using words connected with familiar subjects that are part of young children's everyday lives. This book looks at the park, and each page presents a new letter of the alphabet alongside a park-related word beginning with that letter. Each photo is also accompanied by a caption providing a fun or interesting park fact. A design feature showing the whole alphabet with the relevant letter highlighted runs throughout the book, allowing the reader to see the whole alphabet at once and get a sense of where each letter sits in relation to the letters around it.

I liked this ABC book despite it not sticking with the phonetics of the letters. In fact it led to some interesting discussions with my 2.5yo about why the sound had changed.

This book presents the alphabet to young children using objects and activities found every day in and around parks.
With brillianatly colored photographs, the alphabet is brought to life for little ones. Each page features a letter of the alphabet with a photograph and a very abrief blurb about the photo. A complete alphabet runs across the top of each page creating a visual of where each letter lies in the whole alphabet. The book concludes with how youngsters can find their "own ABCs" at their local park, and an index of each item that was alphabetized.

This is a pretty basic book, with colorful, although not very interesting photograph, that connects the letters of the alphabet to objects in the park.
