For the briefest moment, I'd believe I was the luckiest girl in the world For the briefest moment, I'd thought I was loved For the briefest moment, I'd thought that all of my dreams would come true.
But for the longest time, I've been wrong about everything.
I don't know what it is that I should do next But I do know that I no longer care what anyone thinks of me Not even God
S.K Munt is an author and playwright from north Queensland, Australia. She mostly writes adult paranormal fantasies, but loves to take the sweetness, hope and innocence that makes YA so beguiling, and give it an adult twist. You could say that she has a 'Pan' complex as far as happy endings go.
Samantha has 4 children, and is happily married to her first love. So far she has penned thirty-two novels, and five plays. In her spare time, she can be found at rehearsals for her local theatre groups, surfing, reading or cleaning compulsively.
I absolutely love this book series. The heart ache, the love, the pain, the fear, everything. This is a fantastic series. Fun new storyline that keeps you captivated just as Larkin was. Fantastic read. Highly recommended.
What the actual F happened?!?!?! I am in shock. I am heartbroken and even more pissed and certain characters than in the last book. Uuggghhh it's the best kind of torture.
Wow. Just wow. There were so many plot twists and turns, none of it was as I expected. I love this story but is it wrong I secretely hope for a happy ending!?? Im so attached to all of these characters and cant wait for the next book, it honestly cant come soon enough! I love how you can love a character one minute, then hate them the next...and visa versa. Well done and highly recommend this series and pretty much all this author writes.
This book series is absolutely crazy. Yes, it might be a low budget indie series which could use an editor to shorten it a bit and to catch little errors and wrong names being used BUT I have never read anything like it (which for a dystopian novel is borderline impossible to achieve).
The craziness culminates in The Tangled Trees and no one stays an innocent after what goes down. It also becomes painfully obvious that the colour of your feathers means close to nothing. Exciting setup for what is to come - so I bought the next one right away.
I can hardly put these books down. What an imagination this author has. I hope she’s earning some money. Please S K hire an editor. The misuse of words is driving me crazy.
While book 1 and 2 really felt like one book to me – with book 2 ending on a devastating note to put it mildly! – The Tangled Trees starts where we left off with book 2.
Please read with caution, I do mention SPOILERS, even tagged and hidden.
The journey of Larkin in this one was... heart shattering and soul crushing. Half the time I wanted to kill and torture certain characters, the rest of it I wanted to hug her and/or shake her out of her stupor, depending on the moment. For a good part of the book we really felt her because we read this story from her POV exclusively. So, like her, we .
Following events near the end that left me breathless, speechless, and even in tears. Despite me having had a feeling about a particular character, the level of depravity that I had expected and then found myself confronted with had me utterly gutted. I was cheering so hard for Larkin, I couldn't put the book down for even a second! (Thank for the long Easter weekend that left me with much-needed time to read.)
The series suffers from a heavy lack of editing, but I'm already on book 4 and I've come to terms with this because the story and the characters have me spellbound.
The Pros 1) In The Tangled Trees, the empathy I felt for Larkin has reached a new level – as did the hatred and disgust I have for the system this world functions in, which makes me root for a resolution of this particular conflict even more. It's rare to feel so much for and especially WITH a protagonist, so it was a unique experience as a reader. 2) The storytelling and the info dropping was way better here than in the previous books. The pacing, therefore, didn't suffer from it. 3) The ending here was so carthatic, you have no idea! 4) 5) The development of the twins – let yourself be amazed by that. It was wonderfully excuted. 6) The appearance of a character that has been teased for a while now. I love her.
The Cons 1) The editing. Always the editing, although it wasn't as bad as in the previous books. (Maybe I've gotten used to it by now, though, so who really can say?) 2) The utter lack of Karol . Come on, he's my favourite depraved of them all. 3) I REALLY didn't like one development near the end, but I do understand why the author implemented it, and that was 4) I feel like the author couldn't make up her mind about the duchess. And it showed. So I'm quite unsure how to feel about her development.
Wow! Ok if you haven t started this series yet, this is your sign
I was weeping at 70% completion and shook at 80% then tossed into rage by 90%. The story of Lark and her loves has been tumultuous at the best of times and nerve wracking/ugly cry inducing at the worst. I hate them all and then I love them and then suddenly I'm in a rage about the injustice of it all only to have my own ruffled feathers soothed when all comes to light. I'm buying these in hard copies just so I can revisit this awful, horrible, wonderful journey any time I want. READ THIS SERIES, you will not regret it.
I wanted to give a 5 but noticed some typo/grammatical errors on Book 3. Nonetheless, it was totally engrossing and a page turner. I did not expect the turn of events in the story. I was a fan of Kohl in the first 2 books and I hate Karol but the story took a 180 degrees turn that I was not expecting at all. More so, I don't know if I want to feel empathy and compassion towards Larkin in book 3 because of the choices she made and although she was a pawn used by Satan, she became complacent and self-possessed with her feelings for the Barachiel boys. I hope book 4 is a different Larkin and hoping she finds her true love.

i can not believe how this book finished, how can the author do that to us. i found the book quite long and it took me a while to read compared to normal. The characters started to annoy me towards the middle of the book but i persevered and made it through. Was glad I did as it ended well and am looking forward to reading the next installment.
