I really only bought this set because of Scarlett Dawn being one of the authors. Although I really enjoyed a few of the other stories, my favorite was Scarlett Dawn's story.. Obviously lol... She always slays me! Leaves me grasping at straws hoping the book will not leave me hanging. Then when you reach that pivotal moment... To be continued... You feel the floor fall out from under you and you scream at the injustice of it all lol. Man oh man I am jonesing for my next fix. Dawn is my addiction of choice and I'm ready.

I bought this boxed set for the Valan Royals story by Scarlett Dawn. I loved the book that she had done years ago called Valan Playboys in another collection and had been wishing for a new book. And then I finally got my wish, and it was good, but it isn't a full story. It ends on a cliffhanger with no mention of when the next part is going to be coming out. All I hope for is that it will be out soon and that the author will eventually put the parts together into one book so that it will be easier to reread.

Obviously, I read only the Scarlett Dawn part. And although I was thrilled because of double-Scarlett-Dawn-treat (I read this book and Trigger at the same day), I was kinda sorta maybe pissed at the last page. Yeah, those three annoying as heck words "to be continued". So yeah, I could only hope July come faster.
Oh, just for the reminder (I reread Valan Playboys) :

Magic galore! Come and feast on 20 stories of magic gone wrong. Here’s a great new anthology which works well as a stand-alone, how I read it, but I’m pretty sure works even better as it’s intended, Book 2 of a 3 book anthology series. I think the idea is brilliant and hope to see more anthology series like this. I’m pretty choosy about who I’ll invest time in because there are so many good books out there, and even I found at least eight new authors I’m planning on tracking down more of to read.
The stories’ settings differ quite a bit from each other in well-crafted variety. There’s deserts, forests, urban dystopias, and temples. The casts of characters vary even more. There are Minotaurs, elves, dragons, dwarfs, centaurs, pixies, etc., plenty of humans, and even some owl-cat creatures.

Some of my favorite stories have plots where characters are:

• trapped undercover in a temple filled with their enemies
• fighting to save the life of a lord they’re magically bound to who has already betrayed them
• underlings to a powerful mage they are planning to betray
• healers in a hospital full of sick kids when death comes calling
• ghosts of Vikings stuck in an amulet made to serve the man who destroyed their village
• part of a pack of werewolves trying to figure out what happened when a large chunk of their city disappeared
• magical creatures trying to save the life of their companion processed by a demon trying to kill them
• bound to someone from another world because the two of them share one soul

Don’t those situations just sound delicious? There are lots more great stories of ghosts, children struggling with their magic while they try to figure out who they are, witches trying to figure out how they fit into a world unfriendly to magic, and many more. You’ll have to read to discover which are your favorites.
One of my favorite aspects of this anthology is that every story has at least one strong female character and most had at least one female main character. That’s refreshing for the fantasy genre. I did find some of the stories blaisé, but I don’t know how much of that can be attributed to not reading the beginnings of the stories in Hidden Magic, Book 1 of the series, and not reading the endings of the stories in Forgotten Magic, Book 3. The amazing part to me is that so many of these authors managed to knock it out of the park with just the middle section of the stories. Kudos to these writers. Though I do recommend reading all three books in the series. Personally, I’ll need to backtrack to read Hidden Magic, Book 1, so I can ramp up for the finale, Forgotten Magic, Book 3. Even though I said this anthology works as a stand-alone, I just have to know how some of the stories end, they’re that good. So I’ll first go back and find out how they started. With those plans, I’ve got a lot of good fantasy to look forward to!

I enjoyed all the different stories in this collection. Thank you authors. The stories in here have made me start reading again. I had gotten an awful infection that almost took my life and I simply stopped reading. I stopped my games and it’s months since I picked up my books again. This collection made it easy. There was funny, sexy, exciting and even a sort of scary story.

Mail order witch episode 2 by Joynell Schultz. Some more hijinks against Ettie. Who is trying to drive her out of business and why. Is she ready for the responsibility of starting a family? Another delightful read. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I bought this boxed set because there are so many great authors but Blaire Edens is my favorite and the first one I read. I noticed two other reviews mentioned having favorite authors in the set. I'll be starting theirs next. This is one set you can't go wrong with. I loved Blaire's book Peril in Paint Apple. I hope I got that right. Such a weird name for a town. Lol. I could tell this was written to be a novella. But I hope it's going to be a prequel to a series because, while there was closure and no cliff hangers, I would still like to know more about Mallory's granny's Ghost and the agreement to stay so many Day to get the house. Did her grandmother stop trying to communicate? Was what the story is about what she was trying to say. Well I'm sure it was. The ending was scary but I don't expect trouble to be over with the caverns and Craig. I wanted to know who bonded him out of jail. I so hope she writes more in this series. I'm already calling it one. Lol this was great. Blaire's books always suck me right in.

I bought this book for the sole purpose of reading Scarlett Dawn's story. As always, it was amazing! I will probably read a few of the other stories, but this was definitely worth the money for a SD story.

Things I liked about Valan Royals:

1. I loved the heroine, as always. I really enjoyed SD introducing a heroine that was a bit older, with a kid. Normally, SD's heroines are younger and don't necessarily have "baggage" of the significant person variety.

2. The heroine was a bit older, and a mom, but still as bada$$ as all of SD's heroines.

3. The main character guys.

4. I liked the ending, even though it was a total cliff hanger. UGH! But the story definitely left me wanting to know the answer to EVERYTHING.

This book was awesome, and I recommend it to pretty much everyone. I hope the rest of the story will be released!

haven't read the whole box set yet - went to my favourite first Margo Bond Collins' Darkness There, as this is set in the shifter shield world and I love that series. As usual this book was not a disappointment and I couldn't put it down. Bron is a Raven shifter who works security in a casino , who's boss is kidnapped. She is helped in her search to get him back by Tomas, the security consultant who thought he would just be on a routine check of the casino. Love this book as much as the others in the series, I love the unusual shifters and cannot wait for more

A great collection of reads that is sure to have something for everyone. Here is a sample of one the stories inside:

Darkness There - Margo Bond Collins
This was a quick read in the Shifter Shield Universe, but deals indirectly with Lindi and Kade. Bronwyn is quite spectacular as a Raven shifter. She is intelligent, fierce, not afraid to use her darkness and loyal. Tomas is trustworthy, also intelligent and brave. They are an unlikely pair, but fit good together. It was an excellent read. I volunteered to read this book.

Raven and Panther Pairing

Review for Darkness There-Margo Bond Collins

This story introduces Bron and Tomas a raven and panther couple. It is a short story of about 70 pages but the author has done a great job in giving you gripping story line. I don't want to tell you anthying about the story but if you have read More than Skin Deep it is the first glimpse of this couple and this is their backstory.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book received from the author without obligation to do so.
