A forbidden and sexy office romance from USA Today Bestseller Liv Morris.
I’ve landed in New York City with my resume in one hand and my V-card in the other. The resume? I'll give to any man on the street. The other? Well... I won’t settle for anything less than lightning bolt chemistry and so far no one has flipped that switch.
Until I meet Barclay Hammond, CEO of the most prestigious publishing house in NYC and the city’s most eligible bachelor.
He’s commanding. Charming. Gorgeous. And my new boss.
The raw attraction between us is off the charts. Late nights together in the city, the looks he gives me across the boardroom table make him impossible to resist. I want him to be the one and he wants me too...
There’s only one BIG problem. Dating your boss is strictly forbidden at Hammond Press.
USA Today bestselling author, Liv Morris resides on the concrete island of Manhattan with her first and hopefully last husband. After relocating fourteen times during his corporate career, moving is her superpower along with drinking near lethal amounts of coffee.
Her favorite things are her family, men dressed in bespoke suits, and Jon Hamm. In what feels like a previous lifetime, she graduated from the University of Maryland and taught 5th grade.
Her books are translated into Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, and Czech. Liv is represented by Bookcase Literary Agency.
Oh my God. This book is horrible. Tessa is a virgin. She came to New York to finds a job and losing her V card. Her choice is falls into Barcly. A late 30 single man. The plot of this book is so weak, unbelievable, poorly execute that i cringe when it reach climax.
Putting a company policy as a barrier is so lame. I do not understand why Tessa just refuse the job offer and get another job? Isn't she inteligence woman? Why she wants the job where Barcly is the owner of the company? Come on... you talking New York. There must be dozens of other job.
Sweet and hot! ~~~~~~~~~~ There’s not much hotter than a tall, muscular, commanding, dominant man in a perfectly fitted custom business suit. Especially when that man is looking at you in a way that makes your blood boil.
That’s how we get introduced to Mr. Hammond. Who wouldn’t get a little stupid with a man like that sending you looks that could melt asphalt? And if you are a much younger virgin with no idea in the world how to handle men, it’s no wonder that these two can turn up the heat.
This book has so many great points. It is engaging, easy to read, and very well written. I love Barclay and even with his commanding ways he is still sweet, kind, and giving. He treats her right – just like the lady that she is.
Tessa was a great character. I enjoyed the fact that she was not dizty; smart, although extremely sheltered. I did have issue with her complete obliviousness to men and the fact she relied on her best friend to tell her the ways of the world. She just seemed so incredibly young and I hated that she was overly naïve.
Overall, we get a little taste of everything – heat, anticipation, great story, and a bit of sexy spice. Just what Mr. Hammond ordered.
He’s commanding. Charming. Gorgeous. And my new boss.

65,000 word full length novel. Get ready to SWOON!
Easy reading with nice characters. The heroine irritated me a few times especially when she hid the truth from the hero. Her best friend was also annoying. That's the only reasons I can't give this a higher rating. I am fed up reading contemporary romances where page space is wasted on the heroine's man crazy, nymphomaniac best friend who keeps pressuring her to have sex.
Too cliche, too sweet, to predictable, too fairytale-ish, even for me. Sweet, naive, Southern Belle virgin comes to Manhattan looking for a job. She meets the CEO of the company she wants to work for and he dazzles her with his wealth and experience. 🙄 And they lived happily ever after. The end.
This was such a fun read!! Sweet, innocent Tessa Holly wants to make her mark in New York. A chance encounter with Barclay Hammond grows into so much more. Told in dual POV the author did a fantastic job of combining the right amount of sweet and heat. It was a really fast paced read with great dialogue, plenty of humour and just a touch of alpha. Definitely recommend.
3.5 Stars..... this was an okay book. It was sweet.... maybe just a little too sweet. Might just be me being in a bad mood but certain things bugged me like him calling her “sweet girl” and stupid things like that.
3.5 Not bad, an easy enough read but the dialogue let it down for me, Barclay spoke like a twonk at times. It also needs a good proof read, there were quite a few errors which irritated me.
This is my first book by this author and I adored it. I couldn’t get enough of Barclay and Tessa. I hope eventually we can get more of these two even if it’s her brothers book or her best friends book. And who can complain when Stu Reardon is on the cover. I don’t think author could’ve picked a better model. He fit Barclay to a T.
Oh my god. I’m majorly in love with Barclay and Tessa. Gahh they’re adorable and fun to read about.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review
There’s nothing more interesting than a forbidden romance and that’s exactly what Bossy Nights is, forbidden.
Tessa is lovely, a tad shy and almost innocent woman fresh out of collage looking for a job in a whole new city on her own. What she doesn’t expect to find is a stranger she locks eyes with at the bar that stirs up feelings she’s never felt before to be the owner of the company she’s applying for a job at with a strict no fraternisations rules. What an inconvenience.
Barclay is a strong powerful man with a dominating side. After recently splitting up with his long time girlfriend he’s come to realise that the relationship side is non existent for him until a certain bombshell crashes into his life and has him feeling things he’s never felt before.
Reading how Tessa and Barclay interact with each other is simply hot AS FUCK. Seriously, someone pour a bucket of ice water over me because SEXUAL TENSION IS NO JOKE IN THIS BOOK. HOT. DAMN.
I gotta admit even with all the sexy in this book I found my heart breaking for them, the sadness overpowered me and I felt my stomach sinking. I had tears in my eyes and gosh, so sad but that’s what I love about these kind of books. They might make you sad and have you feeling like your heart is shattering for a love that’s simply forbidden BUT there’s the happiness mixed in with it too, the time they spend together, the happiness they have when together, everything mixed together equals one incredible book. I’m in awe right now.
Liv Morris did an insanely awesome job on this beauty. I love being swallowed into a whole new world and not coming out of it until it’s finished but even then I’m left thinking about it and will be for a while. Tessa and Barclay are going to have a permanent place in my heart.

This was just a so-so read for me. I just couldn't get into it, I am not sure what it was but nothing about the characters "drew" me in and even up until the end, I was like, mehhhhh that was so not what I expected:(
If only the book was as good as the cover, this one for me started off interesting and just plummeted when the southern belle looking for a job and wanting to lose her V-card turns into an immature, ditzy airhead that continues to act like a child who continually twirls her hair on her finger, bites her lip and looks at him with doe eye's, that and the constant reference to the "Age Gap". Unfortunately the story line got boring and cringe worthy and was just not for me.
BOSSY NIGHTS by Liv Morris is the story of Barclay Hammond and Tessa Holly. Tessa lands a job at a publishing house in NYC where she finds her boss Barclay very hot....but the first rule is no fraternization. Being a innocent she has never found anyone that made sparks fly where she would want to loose that until Barclay. Barclay too is finding Tessa to hard to resist too. This was a really sweet hot romance that I enjoyed reading. I hope to read more books by Ms. Morris soon!
Let me tell y'all. If you know me at all or follow what I read, I don't DO slow burn. It has to be done right and this book knocks it out of the park.
With a slow burn book you have to have characters that catch your attention and a setting that you like to read about. I'm a sucker for a CEO, city guy so this was just perfect.
The two characters in this book are just so freaking cute. I was smiling when they were interacting and pushing for their first time together. Age difference smage difference. It made it so much better.
My only complaint is I wanted more but I guess that's just selfish of me. The ending was just too fast.
Moje hodnotenie: 4 stars OFFICE ROMANCE | OLDER MALE |
Naivná absolventka a úspešná blogerka (Con)Tessa zamierila do New Yorku, aby si našla prácu v svete kníh a vydavateľstiev.
Is it the worst book I have ever read? No ... Is it in the top 5? Absolutely yes.
What a horror of a book, is that there is no way to sweeten and soften this.
Far from the typical business love topic, there is no love anywhere here. The characters are so absolutely flat that it is impossible to save anything about their personalities or the relationship that both have.
We are facing a protagonist who is a real asshole. And I do not mean that he is a businessman who is not used to relationships that is a bit clumsy and abrupt in the emotional sphere, no, I mean that he is a macho and paternalistic madman who objectifies the protagonist with such to get cheap business. But in the midst of all the toxicity that the male character gives off, the author believes that by saying that she is very pretty, very sweet and calling the female protagonist a princess, he is already a true gentleman. Well let me tell you no, it seems more like an incestuous relationship between a daughter and a father than between two lovers who are in love.
On the other hand, the over-protection that her family has with her is insane. By God, she is 23 years old !!
The entire alleged relationship is in danger because he is the big boss and she is a simple employee, but don't panic because the mother of the big boss solves the problem for you in 10 lines with an argument that not even the author understands.
Also, the amount of misprints in the novel made my eyes bleed.
Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time reading this crap.
----------------------------
Es el peor libro que he leído? No...
Bossy Nights is definitely a ‘Butterfly Romance’ the type of book that makes your heart flutter and brings a smile to your face as you are drawn into the story. This book centers around Tessa Holly, new college graduate and job hunter as she pounds the pavement in New York City. The synopsis does a really good job of setting up the book, so me writing more would be redundant.
Why should you read it. Sexy Hunk in Barclay Hammond. Sweet and sassy southern belle Tessa Great Banter Just enough funny moments Smoking Hot Sexy Times Just the right amount of conflict.
Highly recommend and it’s part of Kindle Unlimited, which is how I read the fun and witty book.
A ver...
Bossy Nights came along at the perfect time for me. I’m just days away from my next visit to Manhattan and, knowing that Liv Morris calls New York City home, I couldn’t resist a sexy novel set in the Big Apple.
This is the story of Contessa Holly, a young southern belle and recent college graduate who has set her sights on a career in the publishing industry. Tessa leaves Alabama with an ambitious plan to secure a job in just 7 days so that her best friend, Maggie, can join her in the city that never sleeps. Within hours of arriving in NYC, Tessa catches the eye of an older, gorgeous man in the hotel bar. The two flirt across the room from each other without uttering a single word before he’s called away by another woman.
(grumbles)
The following morning, after a series of dreadful events, Tessa unwittingly finds herself standing inside the beautiful businessman’s office. Her mysterious admirer is none other than Barclay Hammond, CEO of Hammond Press, the publishing house on the top of Tessa’s dream job list. Barclay has recently taken charge of his ailing father’s publishing empire and is determined to grow the family legacy. With no wife and children of his own to support, all of Barclay’s devotion is focused on his career. When Tessa’s unconventional arrival in his office inspires him to make amends with one of his most important authors, he recruits the young woman to secure the publishing house’s future.
From the moment Tessa and Barclay first set eyes on one another, the sizzle between the two is undeniable, and on the surface the two are well matched. Barclay is an established man in his thirties, and Tessa’s fresh outlook and youthful energy bring a much needed spark to his life. Tessa’s feminine and signature pink accents are a perfect complement to Barclay’s masculine and rich, dark suits. But there are plenty of complications for these two to overcome, including an annoying non-fraternization policy at Hammond Press, Barclay’s reluctance to jump back into the dating pool, and the significant matter of Tessa’s virginity.
Bossy Nights is a stand alone novel well worth your time. I’ve read many of Liv’s stories over the years and this was by far my favorite to date. In particular, I admired Tessa’s determination and independence in pursuing her biggest dream. I’m confident readers will enjoy this sophisticated love story set within the fast paced and book world, along with Barclay’s smoldering passion for Tessa.
