OH SWEET BABY, that was awesome! The angst, the revelations, the baddies, and the budding friendships??? Maybe??? I LOVED this volume. Let's face it, anything with Bakugo is a volume I am going to adore.

A .gif of principal Nezu hysterically drinking tea

I feel like I'm getting Stockholm syndrome, because every single volume has been ending in a mind-destroying cliffhanger and at this point I've started to become numb to it. It happens and I'm just like, "Oh," and continue on to the bonus content at the back of the book while I calmly contemplate the meaning of existence.

Ahem.
Recap section:
Katsuki and Midoriya have their second ever fight since joining the academy , the second semester of school starts up and they learn about work studies, Mirio and the other top 3 UA students are introduced , and the bird-mask man (Chisaki) has a meeting with the League of Villains .

I always love it when books not only show us the "good guys"'s perspective, but also the "bad guys"'s. I've enjoyed this technique used in Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes, and recently in Marissa Meyer's Renegades, however I don't think I've ever seen it used in a shonen series. Shonen, as a genre, is very much always extremely focused on the hero and his journey to accomplish some sort of epic and heroic goal, and as such tends to always remain very tied to his perspective. The villains are always kept distant which inevitably makes for boring, one-dimensional characters, since we know not much more about them other than that they oppose the protagonist's epic and heroic goal and therefore are "evil".

With My Hero Academia, Horikoshi has been breaking this mold from the beginning by not following the "villain of the arc" formula and instead focusing on developing a single group of villains by including intimate insights into their doings, thereby creating more real and compelling characters than any one-off villain ever could be. Thus the entirety of the series has had a lot more depth to it than most every other shonen out there.

I love how Horikoshi shows us that there is strife between different groups of villains, and that there is not one big identity that is "villains", but rather, many different identities, each with their own goals and ideals, strengths and weaknesses. This seems so obvious: They are inherently violent, moral-less, deranged, and rebellious people. Of course trying to get them to work together would prove to be an abundantly difficult task. Yet why do so many series fail to grasp this concept? At least MHA is not one of them, and not only that, it is also done so very well.

And also, come on, I've got to talk about some of these designs, I haven't gushed about the art in a while.

Ooooohhh boy do I love that bird mask!!! Such a cool design. Also, I love literally any design that includes feathers or fur. That's one of the huge pluses in this series: Basically every design is super fricken sick, along with the art in general (ofc), which makes for an extremely enjoyable visual experience.

Explodeyboy and Fanboy are finally getting down to the root of their rivalry and it’s cool. :)

As for the internship, I think it’s a promising start.

I have to say the artwork is pretty good~

What's what in the story:

After another fist fight, our boys are like......one step closer to cleaning up misunderstandings and fixing their friendship a bit? Plus All Might also has a heart-to-heart conversation with Katsuki, that's so heart-warming and cuteeeeee~~~

The new plot about the yakuza siding with The League of Villains and the heroes having to save a little girl, to be honest I don't care all that much, but will continue to read for the good dramas~~~

Review for vol. 15 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

PS: I admit I read the super cute boy's love fanfics basing on this series first before I got to the canon. XD

Yep, I was right, Overhaul is creepy and downright murderous. As if these characters need yet another power hungry monger to attack and go after them… Also right that Deku and Bakugo could be…friendlier now…maybe? Yeah, definitely hard to tell, and Eraser Head is just so done with them, lol.

This is taking a really interesting turn, especially adding in the yakuza element, and Togata is a very…strange character, lol. He’s off but also reminds me a bit of Deku but without the level of passion Deku puts into everything, which brings me to ask why he was crawling around in the dumpster?! Just, why?

I don’t like Nighteye. First off his design kinda creeps me out (don’t know why) and second he’s just rude and honestly rubs me the wrong way every time he opens his mouth, especially towards Deku. Like, gee, man, take a chill pill already, you’re too stiff and set in your narrow minded ways!

The way this volume ended has me scrambling for the next one! And if they want to catch/find bad guys faster they should just stick Deku or any of his classmates out in the streets and I swear they’ll find them in record time, lol.

Midoriya and Bakugo’s fight shows the tension between the two and how All Might isn’t just Midoriya’s idol. As the students are put back into classes, they meet the academy’s top three students and one of them might help Midoriya on his next step that will have him prove his worth. The League of Villains are brewing their next plan, and an unexpected encounter occurs. A (100%/Outstanding)

When the Villain has more cover space than the Hero!

Anyway, it makes sense because Izuku is still just figuring out his quirk while Overhaul is leagues ahead. I think his quirk of disassembling or reassembling, whatever he chooses, simply with one touch, is really strong. His extreme germaphobia seems to be his only weakness. Poor guy!

This is my favorite volume of the Manga that I’ve read in a while. Great beginning in this book hashing things out between Midoriya and Bakugo. Villains are really starting to realize what they need to do in order to try to succeed more. I also love Mirio Togata and Sir Nighteye especially and the knowledge of who those characters are and what their relationships are with All Might and One For All is fascinating. Loved their introductions in this volume and look forward to reading more with them!

Moving onto new villains AND new heroes? Hmmmm... let's see what direction this title is headed in now....
Highlights:
-The battle between Deku and Bakugo continues. Though Bakugo has increased speed, Deku realizes that he can use One-For-All now at 8%, instead of only 5%, and that speed and strength increase helps him surpass Kacchan, or so he thought. Alternating between his fists and kicks (Shoot Style), they seem very evenly matched, though Bakugo wins. All-Might intervenes and helps them both. Bakugo decides that the secret of One-For-All can be kept by him as well.
- For battling at night, both Deku and Kacchan get grounded to the dorm, having to clean them every day. This causes them to miss several days of school, including the announcement of Hero Internships. These, now that they have their provisional licenses, will allow them to gain more real world hero experience.
- When the question is asked as to how internships are different from training, Aizawa brings in 3 students known as "The Big Three", the top 3rd year students. They are:
3) Nejire Hado - a shy guy with an extremely powerful Quirk called Manifest, which allows him to use the characteristics of anything he has eaten.
2) Tamaki Amajiki - a very cute and inquisitive girl with Wave Motion, which allows her to use her energy to create shockwaves, both for damage and for healing
1) Mirio Togata - In addition to enhanced strength, speed, and durability, his Quirk is called Permeation, which allows him to phase through matter, though that also includes his clothes LOL (Note: He isn't shy about fighting nude, but always apologizes for it)
- Togata, in demonstration of his abilities, takes on all of Class 1-A AT THE SAME TIME, defeating them easily. He explains that most of his skill came from working so hard at his internship.
- Overhaul, meets with Shigaraki. Being from the Yakuza, leading the Shie Hassaikai, he runs his organization differently from the League of Villains. When Overhaul claims to want to join together and lead, Shigaraki and the League start a fight. They learn quickly the dangers of Overhaul's Quirk: the disassembling and reassembling of matter, effectively allowing him to blow enemies to pieces with only a touch. They part ways, but may combine together in the future.
- Deku wants to participate in a Hero-WorkStudy, and gets Togata to introduce him to All-Might's former partner Sir Nighteye. Sir Nighteye gives Deku a chance to prove his worth, stating that he must grab the stamp from his hand and stamp the contract himself. Despite being allowed to attack as he wishes, Deku is unable to overcome Nighteye's quirk of Foresight. Thinking he failed, Deku reveals that he wasn't going all out so the rare All-Might merch wouldn't get damaged. This gains Nighteye's respect and he gets hired to be an intern.
- For their first assignment, they are going to be investigating the Shie Hassaikai, a Yakuza gang. Togata and Deku will go out there together. On patrol, they run into a small girl who appears to be injured slightly. Her name is Eri. A man steps out of the alley telling her that she must not bother the heroes. It is Overhaul.

Yet another Volume the ends on a cliffhanger!

Another awesome volume! Wasn't crazy about the chapter(s) about Midoriya and Sir Nighteye, but Mirio made it super worthwhile. I love his personality, and his quirk is really interesting! I love how much thought went into figuring out the workings of it. I really like his design too- kind of like Tintin meets Popeye meets early Mickey Mouse designs. Part of me wonders if he's too good to be true, though.
Anyway, let's talk about Overhaul. I'm really intrigued by his character! I like how his overall vibe was established early on, namely his apparent phobia of germs and/or getting dirty. Really works with his mask, gloves, and erratic behaviour. His quirk made me gasp out loud, and I'm really excited to see where we go with him next. Can't wait for the next volume!

Okay. That fight between Bakugo and Izuku was worth the price of admission. This volume of the hit My Hero Academia manga was incredible. Midoriya knew that things were going to come to ahead with him and Bakugo's relationship and the intense battle just really gives me so many emotions. Horikoshi has done a great job of not making Bakugo a one dimensional rival to Midoriya like one would expect in a shonen manga. Bakugo is just as important to the story as our main hero. All Might being a true hero has finally acknowledge Bakugo's feelings and recognize his importance to the world of superheroes. It should not surprise fan's of this series that this chapter marks a change in these two heroes relationship going forward.
In the next have of the book we are introduced to a character who has one of the most powerful quirks we have seen so far in the series, Miro Togata. It did not escape me that Miro looks similar to All Might in appearance which is some great foreshadowing from Horikoshi. We also finally get to meet All Might's former sidekick Nighteye, who could not be so different from his one time partner. It is going to be interesting to see how things pick up in the story as we move into our next story arc. I loved the surprise ending at the back at the book. Overhaul looks so menacing and I hope Midoriya is prepare for the battle to come. This series is quite simply amazing and a definite must read.

PD: ¿Por qué Mirio parece Tin Tin?

Staremo a vedere!

As always another good volume! Get to meet The Big Three in this one. I enjoyed seeing Mirio's power portrayed in the manga! He has one that is only powerful because of the amount of work he has done to make it so and I like that. Also cool to meet Sir! Looking forward to seeing more of the work study stuff. Also loved seeing the end of Bakugo and Deku's fight and their lockdown afterwards.

This volume continues with the conclusion of Bakugo and Midoriya's battle, and the repercussions of such; along with a few confirmations that Bakugo has been needing, and a small pep talk from All Might that was really well overdue.

There was also the introduction of UA's "top three" students - including the former first choice as All Might's successor (before Deku came along), and the introduction of All Might's former sidekick. Looks like Deku's in for a ROUGH internship :P

And finally, we also got to (finally) see a little more of the League of Villains - along with the introduction of the potential next "big bad" with a rather... destructive power... I dunno a lot about him but as far as first impressions go I think he's going to make an EXCELLENT villain c:
