“Hurting makes you react in ways you shouldn’t. Makes you lie and use others until the pain’s gone and what you suddenly feel is nothing but loneliness. The way it should have been in the beginning.”
There’s one place Rawley Walker feels at home. On a stage, gripping a mic in a darkened bar. Desperate to distance himself from the temptation to use her, Rawley leaves town in hopes to forget his childhood girlfriend who broke his heart.
“They chant my name between songs, worshiping the lost soul in front of them, but not a single oblivious one actually knows Rawley Walker, the frontman of Torque. Why would they want to? Want some heavy truth? I don’t know him either. Not anymore.”
For years Sophie Cunning regrets one night that changed everything between her and Rawley. She can’t take it back, as much as she wishes she could. Just below the surface lies a truth she never wanted to admit and he won’t let her forget. As she attempts to move on with her life her past and present collide and she’s forced to deal with a new reality, one neither of them can run from. *** This is book is told in dual POV and has a HEA with no cliffhanger.
Warning: Due to mature subject matter, such as explicit sexual situations and coarse language, this story is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

So I read this book two years ago, but I keep seeing it pop up everywhere so I wanted to give you all my warning:
Don't expect this book to be an angsty second chance romance with all the feels. The only thing I felt while reading this was complete anger and disgust.
So the premise of this book is that Rawley is angry at the world because his life didn't turn out as planned -- Not with his career, not with the girl he's been in love with his whole life, nothing. All he has is bitterness and resentment. And why, do you ask? Well it's all because his angel girl Sophie on a vacation in Mexico got drunk and cheated on him. She felt so terrible and came clean pretty much right away, and thus started the Rawley downward spiral. These two have done the toxic dance for years since they split, but they just can't seem to let each other go.. until Rawley comes up with an idea (while drink and high, mind you) that in order to move on, to have Sophie move on, is to do something so despicable that she'll hate him forever. And what does he do? He rapes her. She tries to fight him off, says no multiple times, but she can't get him to stop.. so she's left more broken than ever. But wait! That's not all because we can't just end it there -- but poor Sophie ends up pregnant as well. *bangs head and curses repeatedly*
This book y'all. It gave me some dangerous levels of high blood pressure because of how angry I was. How is this romance? In the day in age where 1 in 3 women are sexually assaulted, and 10-14% of women in the United States are raped by their HUSBANDS, this is not a subject matter you take lightly. And as someone who has been sexually assaulted as well, I cannot, CANNOT support a 'hero' who is a fucking rapist. I get it guys, it's fiction, and everyone has a difference of opinion/preference, but this is one subject I won't budge on.
And something else that made me really mad is that when Rawley decided to come back home and be the person he used to be before Sophie cheated on him while reconnecting with his family and being a father, is that she's the one that's picked apart when she doesn't accept him back with open arms. She even admits that he raped her -- for about two seconds -- until she also says that on some level this is what she always wanted. WHAT THE WHAT. I just can't.
Look, I really liked the first two books in the series, but after this, I just haven't been able to read one of her books. I don't condone cheating at all. But raping someone to get back at them for that? Fuck no.
Hopefully this review helps someone who is on the fence about this book. I'm still so mad about it all these years later.
I can handle an asshole male lead which this man child was in spades, but I can’t take a doormat heroine which Sophie was in spades. Sophie cheats on Rawley which is horrible, but he then spends most of the book paying her back by fucking tons of other girls including her best friend, and getting high all the while whining about her betrayal three years ago. Don’t get me started on the scene where their son is conceived, it felt like a sexual assault to me. Through all this she never has sex again with another guy and longs for this piece of shit. I kept hoping he would overdose at some point, that is how unaffective I found any attempt to make me like him to be. When the most interesting and likeable character is an adolescent girl in another couples so-called love story, things have gone wrong in fiction land.
Great ending to the series, although I hope the next generation gets a series as well. Sophie & rawley had some huge obstacles to face. Loved the writing.
Very mixed feelings about this book especially the beginning. In my eyes that first sex scene is emotional and physical rape to me. I know at lot of PPL won't see it like that BC she gave in but my god she was crying the whole time won't you stop having sex if she's crying and saying I'm doing this so you hate me? Wow just speechless. But the rest of the book was good .

I am so mad at this book. I was waiting on the heroine to be a stronger person and stop allowing herself to be treated like a doormat and it just never happened. She just kept coming back for me. The hero is this book was a straight ahole! I don't like him I won't ever like him. Hated it.
This hero no words ,he sleeps with the best friend of our doormat heroine ,this book is BAD .the story was boring ,the hero cheated with every female in town and the heroine cried after him .who wants to read that ?..not me

Our H is a rapist. He raped the heroine. Why? Because when they’re 18, she cheats on him. Confesses and he proceeds to start getting drunk and high all the time. Which means he gets a DUI and tanks his football career. Oh and H starts screwing other women. While showing up at her place for sex. And he gets mad one night and rapes her. Then takes off. Poor h gets pregnant and movies in with his family! But doesn’t tell him because the night she shows up at his concert, he sings this horrible song about her. But she still loves him because of how they used to be. When they were teenagers! They are so toxic. They are not good together.
H has gone off the rails with the booze and women, so his band mates send him home for his brother’s wedding. Where he finds out he has a kid and promptly storms off. Because it’s all h’s fault. At this point I skimmed. I could not take it anymore. And how does it end? They’ve slept together (girl, I hope you get tested). H and his band perform at the wedding. He’s back on track and clean. After (checks notes) one week. ONE WEEK. Yep a week is all it takes to overcome addiction. Ugh. I hated this book.
Out of the three books in this trilogy this by far my favorite.... one may say this book is dark but this story is as real as it gets when it comes to someone that has the love of thier life crush them and to crush the their love right back!!! It's amazing how Shey story tells a story on heartbreak and forgiveness!! At first I was like damn Sophie leave Rawly alone and move on but then the power of their love comes through and I'm so glad she held out for him! Please Shey don't Let this be then end of the Walker family story..... I feel like this series wouldn't be have the book it is with out Nova so with that being said please please please let's hear Novas story especially to see how Red and Uncle and Uncle Tyler acts when she is all grown up and moving on to a new love in her life. Also we would still get to see how everyone else in the series is doing.
Rawley is an immature brat who throws a fit when he doesn't get his way. I was tired of his tantrums. I get he was upset with what happened with Sophia but three years later he is still not over it. As for Sophia I was so disappointed in her for always making excuses for Rawley. The night he left he pretty much forced himself on her. Yes she didn't push him away or say no but he was taking regardless of how she felt. Sadly with this and other books in the series the author made many mistakes.
Omg this book had me on an emotional roller coaster. The amount of emotion that bleeds through this book will make your heart ache for Sophie and Rawley. I love hated Rawley through this whole book. This book hit it all; love, sadness, heartache, hurt, betrayal, and beleive it or not humor. This is a beautiful way to end the trilogy. I really hate to see all these characters go away. Especially Nova! 5☆'s
My only critique is editing. There are errors throughout the second and third books including the wrong names used and a few situational errors. The stories are so good and I love the characters! What each couple goes through in their own book to come together and then being able to follow Lenny and Red and Raven and Tyler is so great. I love the family dynamics.
I give this book 2 1/2 stars. Sophie should have had Rawley crawling on his balls for a few years before she took him back considering the way he treated her. Not saying what she did to him didn't hurt him, but he was just way too cruel. The book was way too short for them to work things out the right way, she was like boneless chicken. And also I loved Nova but, kids needs to know their place, cursing at an adult uncle or not is an invitation for an ass whooping.
This is a nice, solid story. Not necessarily a standout, but good reading. I liked the explanation of Rawley’s behavior and how the characters dealt with each other. A big plus on this one - it wasn’t all about sex. It wasn’t the constant sex on their minds throughout the story. The only issue was the editing/proofreading. There were a lot of errors.
Wow, this was a awesome series I loved all the characters in this series! But Rawley's book, Wow his character in the other books you knew his story was going to be powerful ...and it was but it was a great story.... Love your books...oh and are we going to get the other guys in the bands stories??? I hope so!
This was the last book of the Torqued series, Rawley and Sophie's story. It was great to see those two forgive and love each other. Finally, like the rest of the books there are laughter, tears, family, and great sex. Those are the things I enjoyed most with all of them.
This was the excellent conclusion to this trilogy. Rawley is really rough around the edges after a brutal betrayal but eventually tries to find his way back to his girl Sophie. Great read!
Wow!! This series is amazing. I loved all three books. I laughed and cried with each story. I hope we see more about this family especially Nova. She is a real firecracker!!
Way too many grammatical errors and some chapters were wrong with the characters I was reading. It was ok but not interesting in the others. My first time reading this author books
I so wanted Rawley to redeem himself and I think he did! He's got that personality that you can't help but be attracted to even when he screws up horribly!! You sit back and wait for him to make up for it! I loved watching him do it!! What a roller coaster!! Loved Rawley's story and the epilogue wrapping everything up!!
I can't lie... I cried. I'm just not ready to let go of the Torqued books. It is such a great series! Rawley's story was the one I was waiting for & it was a tear jerker. There was so much love & pain for Rawley & Sophie. They deserved their HEA. I STILL think that Jude should get a story. There is something about Jude that screams at me. He isn't even in the stories all that much, but for some reason he just stands out. Or Nova. With mention of Ollie... I think Nova is in for a wild ride. I love these books & I will go back to them again & again...
I first met Rawley at his brother Red's Shop Walkers Garage. I fell in love instantly, and have been worried about him ever since. Rawley is a beautiful man, a talented musician and he is a tortured soul. The man is broken, he's hit rock bottom or is on his way there. Sophie the childhood sweetheart made a mistake, one that they may not recover from. Only time will tell. Red's wedding brings Rawley home. His sister Raven and his niece Nova constantly had me in hysterical fits of laughter. Spending time with his crazy family might just be what he needs to let go of the past and fix himself. Unbound was an emotion ride for me and one I wouldn't have wanted to miss. I needed Rawley's story and man oh man did Shey give it to me. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Once again Shey, you blow my mind! Fan Frickin Tastic!!!! LOVED IT!
