Two erotic historical romances to steam up your reading...
This starter set contains light BDSM and features the following
SUBMITTING TO THE RAKE
Desperate to save her cousin from certain ruin with a notorious rake, Miss Heloise Merrill impersonates her cousin and takes her place at the 'Chateau Debauchery.' Heloise intends to convince the rake -- Sebastian Cadwell, Earl of Blythe -- to turn his attentions elsewhere. What she doesn't intend is to be splayed across his legs and spanked!
Deprived of his intended guest, Sebastian Cadwell intends to provide the meddling Miss Merrill a much deserved set-down. But when his hand connects with her lovely derrière, he finds he wants to do more than just administer a light spanking. He wants her total submission.
SUBMITTING TO LORD ROCKWELL
For debt-ridden Deana Herwood, losing a hand of cards to the wealthy Lord Rockwell is bad enough. But when he proposes that she settle her loss to him by spending one night offering her body up to his pleasure, she finds herself caught in a bind.
After agreeing, she discovers that his carnal appetite includes a preference for the taboo. When she expresses her reservations, he offers an even more outrageous proposition—he will owe her a hundred pounds if she fails to spend at his hands. Can she win the wager or will her body succumb to the wicked attentions of Lord Rockwell?
After accidentally flashing the audience with her knickers, Em Brown decided that writing was a safer activity. She enjoys writing romance, particularly erotic historicals. For more about her works, visit www.EroticHistoricals.com.
This is a teaser to encourage purchase of additional books by the author. Unfortunately, I did not like the characters nor did I enjoy the sex scenes. I will definitely not be reading more.
Em Brown knows how to bring the HEAT! This novella was the perfect length for when you need to feed the slightly darker part of your amorous side (literarily speaking).
Heloise and Deana both discover, surprisingly, that they have a naughty side a bit more intense and exotic than most. And, what a delicious time they have awakening their latent, dark desires. And, Sebastian and Lord Rockwell are only too willing to introduce the ladies to their special brand of wicked play and explore the devilish depths of their newfound desires.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary and honest review, should I choose to do so.
A fun book until the story of an unwilling wife. I am sure it turned out to help her and her husband but triggered some things for me. I had to stop at that point but enjoyed the rest of the book.
Edited 12/29 These are teasers that will leave you wanting more, like a taste test.
I want to give this book justice by elaborating my review. The stories are short and steamy with BDSM and they're centered around Chateau Follet, a place where all inhibitions are left at the door and what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
I particularly liked the cousin switching story and I'm intrigued by what happens next. The last story is a pseudo adultery (take note of the word pseudo) and I'd like to also know what happens next.
The stories were expertly written to make the reader wonder how the relationships would develop (or if they would), and if there's love along the way.
The scenes were sensual and arousing and both characters' perspectives were presented. Enjoy this on a cold day or just anytime you feel the need.
Way too short. If you just want to read about erotic sex with no real story then these are perfect, I just like a little more from a romance novel/novella
Deana looked at her cards again seeing they still contained a king and a ten losing to Lord Rockwell's ace and queen. Unlike his obvious wealth, she had needed this win and it was hard to keep the glower from showing on her face. Now she was surreptitiously looking around the gambling hall to see who would loan her the £50 she now owed.
She was dismayed that his suggestion that her debt could be cleared with a night spent in his bed. Everyone knew her family's circumstances and even if she was not virginal that didn't make her a whore.
This story is told from Deana's POV and is a prequel
SUBMITTING TO THE RAKE
Heloise found herself standing alone at night on the deserted road pretending to be her cousin. She had found the note intended for her cousin to spend three shameless nights with the Earl of Blythe at Chateau Fottet for three nights of debauchery, but she couldn't allow her cousin to throw her life and expectations of a good marriage away. Since he had refused her audience to make her case for him to leave her cousin alone, he gave her no choice but to show in her cousin's place.
This story is told from Heloise's POV.
DEBAUCHERY: THE BARON
Baron Ramsey is at the horse races in Ascot when his friend tells him where their wives are staying for the weekend after their shopping spree in London. Chateau Follet. He feels like he just got kicks in his privates by one of the racehorses that were running the track. He knew that his cousin had spent time at the Chateau in the past as she knew the owner, but he could not believe that this timid wife would agree to attend such a place.
Their wedding night two years ago had been a total disaster and after several unsuccessful times trying to have relations with his wife, he gave her peace and slaked his desires with his mistress. He realized the hypocrisy, but he refused to allow her to make him a cuckold so he left the races to see who his wife was meeting.
This book is told from Lord Baron's POV.
I loved this boxset! These short stories are very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable despite the stories being set in the Regency era. Books one and three are both prequels although I can't find the continuation to Lord Baron's story.
I think I’ve maybe read too many of Ms. Brown’s books back to back. Where my first several reads by this author seemed exciting and very erotic, this one (especially the included except if “Debauchery: The Baron”) reads very much like rape to me.
In the excerpt, the Baron discovers that his wife has gone to the Chateau and he’s upset. He has a mistress of course, but he feels his wife is fragile and doesn’t like sex with him so shouldn’t be there. Dawning a disguise, he proceeds to assault her. She repeatedly says that she does not want what he is forcing upon her. At some point, it’s mentioned that he touches her in just the right way and her protests begin to subside. I’ve never been raped, thank God, but this is traumatic even for me. Suffice it to say, I’m done.
this is not a book but maybe chapters of two different books, so the name is deceiving, I really expected the usual 1800 book and was disappointed.
there is no actual story line, except a beginning where the husband is upset that his wife is hoping for an affair or a experience. His jealousy is rather strange but as the chapter unfolded he appeared to finally satisfy his wife. why this did not happen previously is actually his fault as he gave up and went to a mistress it would have be interesting to discover if they eventually found each other.
the second part of the two Doms was just a mess of BDSM and who the best Dom was further more nil else. No actual story.
It took me a while to figure out some terms from the past, like sennight. I like that I learned something from reading this!
Hard to say which story was the best, because they were all tantalizingly good. Loved the bonus story and excerpt too!
The reason I didn’t give this collection 5 stars because the stories didn’t stick in my mind like some do, those are difficult to step out of. Sometimes it takes a few days even to let go.
Basically a bunch of teasers to try to get you to buy more books. The stories could've been hot, but the word "cunny" just sounds way too child-molesterish. Trying to cutify the harsh sexuality of the word cunt. Every time it was used it pulled me out of the story and left me feeling vaguely ill, and it's used repeatedly, in all of the stories.
This was an a Red Feather Romance freebie and now I have more books to find. I like historical romance and certain bdsm works, so combining the two is a match made in sensual heaven when done right. Hope the rest of Em Brown's work is just as good.
I loved the first one, good story line! Not to say the second one wasn't good but was just a little to much whipping involved! Took me back to my youth when we had to cut our own willow branch after getting in trouble. But I loved the story any way!
This would have gotten three stars, until I came to the story about the nonconsensual encounter between a husband and wife. Nope. I'll never be reading an Em Brown book again.
The rest of these were okay, but mostly they're teaser chapters for longer books, so you get a little story, a lot of sex, and no resolution. Save yourself the time and skip this entirely.
I usually really enjoy the Chateau Debauchery books and for the most part I enjoyed these samplers, Lord Rockwell and the Rake had at least a semblance of completion, but the Baron left me dissatisfied not only because there is no hint of the outcome, but for a husband who has a mistress he seems unnecessarily cruel as that put me off a little.
This is a fun book with short pieces that are an introduction into the world of Em Brown’s Chateau Debauchery series. I have read all of the full length stories and highly recommend them but if you just want to dip your toe in as it were then this is a great starting point. Have fun.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Written from a different viewpoint on Victorian behaviors, it was a very good book. Scenes were very naughty, to use the term for the time, but they were really hot! Recommended.
Amazing I never knew it could be such a fun reading this type of story very tilt elating well written delicious 😋 I recommend very much to all who likes erotica
I love read the whole book in day i got real hot i need 5 cold shower it awesome book. I love so much i love so. I order of her books i just could put in down she a great writer too
This was a let down. I enjoyed the reading but .. I thought it was the first book in the series of 7. But it was several teasers. By that I mean excerpts from seven books and the I have to buy all now if I want to read more of the story.
Really not my thing, I'm more into paranormal dark romances, but i thought this was a interesting book to read, light bdsm, light everything, writing was just ok, too wordy, they spent more time talking than actually doing anything
Totally not what I expected and was very disappointed. You get involved with a story and it ends abruptly and you're left hanging. In order to finish you must buy another and another while still in the middle of the book. Not my thing.
Chateau Debauchery series will not let you down. It has plenty of BDSM and erotic sex. I love the interaction between the characters in each story. Although this particular book is only a tease, the rest of the stories are even better.
