When you find an author who really captures everything you love in a book , you can't wait for more and start the countdown for the next . You also hope that the next will consume you they way their other stories have .
Welll have no fear , it only gets better with Drew and Maggie. I can honestly say you won't put it down , you'll love the rollercoasters of emotions . I felt Palpations lol and I really did get goosebumps.
Again I don't foreclose the story details or go into any of the scenes, but rest assured if you don't read this , you really will miss out . Also if you haven't read Miranda Liasson before I really recommend you go back and enjoy the journey forward with her stories .
This second installment is adorable, and I enjoyed it even more than the first. There is the perfect balance of banter, chemistry, and emotion. Drew and Maggie have the best slow burn romance. Despite the potential heavy subject matter, I respected the maturity and straightforwardness of both characters.
I can't wait for the third installment of the series.
A well written and edited book. Ms. Liasson has a way of fleshing out her characters and plot so that you are immediately drawn into the book and can't stop until you've finished the story. This is a love story between a scared, repressed widow and a charming, emotionally scarred commitment phobe who somehow manage to finally realize that they are absolutely right for one another. I was given an ARC of the book and I voluntarily have written this review as I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can heartily recommend it.
Maggie is a widow with a young son - a "forever" type of woman - Drew doesn't even do a relationship, let alone forever. They know of each other through friends so when Drew need a date for the wedding of his brother and ex-girlfriend, he asks Maggie for a favor - and offers to pay her! - hilarious...and the beginning of their attraction to each other, which becomes so, so much more. One aspect that I did like about the story was that her child was there among the cast of characters, but was not the focus - the romance was - and that's how it should be, that's what I chose to read - a romance. It was also refreshing and quite ironic to read this story where Drew realized he wanted more and Maggie was the one just wanting a fling to help her get back out into the dating world after her husband's death. This book was so emotional (I wasn't expecting that) and I got so caught up in their story - the author rips your heart out and then puts it back together perfectly. Just a wonderful, sigh-worthy romantic read that I highly recommend.
Although I did receive an ARC of this book, this is my honest opinion of it.
I enjoyed this book. They two characters, Maggie and Drew, although on the surface not a good match are actually made for each other. Maggie lost her husband and father of her young son to cancer three years prior and she can't move on. When she meets Drew she feels attraction and more towards him, but she is afraid to go headfirst into a relationship. She is afraid of losing someone she love again. He has been afraid to get into a serious relationship as well since the woman he loved in college left him for his brother. The book follows them as they explore their real feelings and realize what is important. An uplifting and insightful book. Looking forward to more Mirror Lake books.
This book, like all of the other books set in Mirror Lake was an emotional, wonderful journey from start to finish. People say this all the time, and I know it sounds cliché, but I honestly could not put this book down once I started reading. I started this in the evening and stayed up until 3am to finish it because I needed to know what happened with these two characters. Yes, I was that invested. This is nothing new for me where this author is concerned, however, as all of her books are fantastic.
While this book made me laugh so many times and the drama-to-humor ratio is very well balanced, I am now convinced that Miranda Liasson secretly thrives on the tears of her readers. This was the second book in a row by Ms. Liasson that made me full-out cry as I read it. I found myself tearing up one time earlier in the book and made it through without crying, feeling pretty smug that I was able to get through what I thought was going to be the most emotional part. Yeah, no. It didn't take long for the author to pull the rug out from under me, and I found myself having to go find a tissue at 2:45am. I loved it.
While this book can definitely stand alone, the crazy chemistry between Maggie and Drew started in Can't Stop Loving You, so reading that first will make this book even more enjoyable, but it isn't necessary. You could definitely read this book and enjoy it for what it is – a fabulous and emotional book about two emotionally damaged people who have an incredible combination of laugh-out-loud banter and downright sizzling personal chemistry.
Maggie is a hot mess at the start of this book. I'm not spoiling anything by saying this as it becomes abundantly clear within the first few paragraphs. She's still coping with the loss of her husband, and trying to raise her son while dealing with her own issues. Enter Drew Poulos (which is his adopted last name, he was a Spikonos at birth), a man with a reputation that isn't exactly reality, and who has an innate talent for riling Maggie up. As we learned in the previous book, Drew has got his own issues that include a family that is fractured, and his brother's upcoming wedding. A wedding that he has to attend, but doesn't want to attend alone. Who better to take with him than a woman whose job it is to fix others?
The chemistry between these two is incredible. Drew has a certain charm about him that might not always shine through, but when it does, he is flat-out irresistible. I loved his interactions with Griffin (especially the Oreo moment), his calm reaction to the 'surprise party' that arrives at an awkward time, and his ability to help Maggie on a more even keel. These two were absolutely perfect for each other, and I was fully invested in their happily ever after.
If you like books that feel a wide range of emotions, you cannot go wrong with a Miranda Liasson book, and this one is no exception. If you are unfamiliar with the Spikonos brothers and want to be caught up (which is not a requirement to enjoy this book but they're great books so you totally should), start with This Loving Feeling where you'll meet Lukas, and then read Can't Stop Loving You to catch up with Roman and get your first look at the hot mess that Drew was when he arrived into town.
I requested and was granted an ARC of this book. I was under absolutely no obligation to write this review, I wrote it because I loved the book and I think that all romance fans should read this series.
I loved this book! I enjoyed catching up with some of the characters from the last book too. You don’t have to read the first book, to read this book. Drew and his siblings were separated when they were young as their parents died. Drew grew up in a rich family and has come to town to be with his brothers and hide out. He meets Maggie who is a phycologist who has a young son and is a widow. Her husband was a pediatrician who died of cancer a little over three years ago and was loved by the town. Maggie is still trying to get over her husband. She has a love/hate relationship with Drew. She has read a lot about him in the news and doesn’t think much of him, but she is attracted to him. He doesn’t want a relationship or to fall in love again so he tries to stay away from Maggie. Fortunately for both of them, Drew asks for her professional help when he has to go to a wedding of his adopted brother. Thinks get interesting there!
Maggie was OCD and tried to over protect her Griffin as she was afraid of losing him too. Maggie was great with helping to ease explosive situations. She still loved her dead husband, but she wanted to start living again. I liked how she tried to get back in the saddle again even though she was choosing the wrong person at first. Drew was so much more that what the news reported him to be. I loved seeing the real Drew come out and especially with Maggie. I loved seeing how his eyes were opened to so many interesting items with his family. Maggie’s son, Griffin, was a sweetheart. I liked seeing how Drew helped him to be a little boy and not so protected. I loved Griffin’s enthusiasm. This was a wonderful love story that made me feel I was the one going through the emotions. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
Can't Fight This Feeling (Spikonos Brothers) by Miranda Liasson
ARC Review: Can't Fight This Feeling (Spikonos Brothers) by Miranda Liasson
Home. How can such a simple word play such an integral part in the way we view the world, others and even ourselves? Can't Fight This Feeling is the culmination of a bond between friends, brothers and family whether by blood or through love family and love. What began as the heartbreaking journey of three brothers finding their way back to each other has morphed into something bigger. Maturity, insight and forgiveness has allowed the once estranged Spikonos brothers to open their hearts and find love and hope in the most unlikely of places. With Can't Fight this Feeling, Ms. Liasson gives a glimpse into the world of money, power and privilege through the eyes of Drew Poulos, runaway groom. Wealthy does not necessarily mean happy. Now the golden boy has to decide, if his life of means is worth giving up the woman of his dreams. Maggie and Drew's road is paved with insecurities, heartache, loss and sacrifice but it also brings rewarding experiences. Mirror Lake is not just a fictional town. Visiting is like coming home.
Maggie McShae's husband died of cancer two years ago and she is finally ready to move on with her life at least on a physical level if not an emotional one. She is looking for a guy to have fun with but not one spend the rest of her life with, at least she thinks this is what she wants. Maggie is a psychologist specializing in family issues and she is very good at what she does.
Drew Poulos is the adopted son of a billionaire's who is hiding out from the press after deserting his bride to be at the alter. He working at his biological brother's brandy wine company. He and Maggie have hate, hate, love relationship. Drew irritates the life out of Maggie by being the exact thing she most detests in a man. Maggie irritates Drew by being prissy and uptight, just the thing he detests in a women.
Drew's adopted brother, who he is very close to is getting married and Drew feels a strong obligation to attend the nuptials. However, there is one very big problem, the women Drew's brother is marring is the women Drew dated for four years and thought he was the going to marry. Faced with the humiliation of being with his family at the wedding Drew realizes that he can not go to the wedding by himself and face even further ignominy. To make matters worse Drew's adopted father is furious with him for backing out of the marriage he arranged for Drew. Drew needs a date for the wedding and who better that a family counselor to help get his relatives off his case. Miranda Liasson, is a gifted writer and has created two broken hearted protagonists who don't realize that they made for each other. Ms.Liasson has written book with a great storyline and wonderful character development. I definitely recommend reading “Can't Fight This Feeling”, it is a winner.
Miranda Liasson has captured my attention in Can’t Fight This Feeling! This is a book that you will NOT want to put down until the end and then you keep wanting more. Maggie McShae lost her husband 3 ½ years ago and has made her whole world her 4 year old son. She is a counselor who is good at helping others through the difficult times, but has problems with her own. Drew Poulas was running from an arranged marriage to a socialite he just left at the altar. Meeting under unusual circumstances and both not wanting a ‘real’ relationship, they decided to join forces when Drew’s brother, Xander is marrying Drew’s former girlfriend, Sondra. Spending a long weekend at Drew’s parents Greenwich estate with his brother (and of course Sondra) his parents (who are divorced), his little sister, a jealous dog and the wide open space proves too much of an ‘uncouple’ who had so much chemistry between them that you just knew something had to happen. And oh did it...... From the beginning when you get to know Maggie and Drew until the end when they get to know themselves and each other, you will laugh and cry plus want to shake these interesting people. You find out Corey (Maggie’s saintly deceased husband wasn’t so saintly) to Drew isn’t the ladies’ man that Maggie thinks, little Griffin (Maggie’s 4 year old son) asking if Drew had a sleepover with Maggie to Griffin actually asking Maggie if Drew can sleepover every night. Of course, what kind of a romance story would it be if they didn’t find they belonged together? Join in the fun and romance of Maggie and Drew and their whole family. You won’t be disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy of "CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING", written by Miranda Liasson. She is an amazing writer and is able to bring to life her character, right from the pages of her books. This book is an emotionally charged, funny sexy read. Two burden and guilt ridden souls, who has their past holding them down. Each having come from two totally different backgrounds, from childhood to adulthood. This is something that happens so often in real life and so often we don't even realize it's happening around us. I wouldn't want to be kept from the person that I have truly become to love just because I feel I can let go of the past or that it won't let me go and miss out on who I was meant to be with. This book is a story of this happening and as you read you are pulled into the story and feel as if it's you going through all the pain and anguish, each are suffering. It makes you want to cheer for them, especially sexy hunk!!!! LOL!!!! This is a must read!!!!! I love this book. The book is so full of emotions and life. Mrs. Miranda Liasson brings her characters to life, right off the pages of her book. You will laugh, cry, be sad and get angry right along with the characters. This book is a major page turner. I had such a hard time putting this book down. Before I knew it hours would pass by. LOL!!!! ;-D Thank you so much for this book!!!
I've been eagerly awaiting this 2nd book in Miranda Liasson's Spikonos Brothers series, and she does not disappoint! Drew and Maggie are two lovable characters determined to have a casual fling and not be caught up in a serious, lasting relationship. They illustrate perfectly the old saying, "Man plans and God laughs." I was immediately caught up in the witty barbs flying between Maggie and Drew in the opening chapter, along with their underlying vulnerability and mutual attraction , which set the tone throughout this enticing story. I recommend you try Can't Fight This Feeling for yourself, and I guarantee you'll be reading non-stop until the very end! I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING is another wonderful book in the Spikonos Brothers series by Miranda Liasson. I really enjoyed reading it!! It kept me intrigued from Page 1!! After Bella & Roman's story in Book 1, I could not wait to read Maggie & Drew's story. You sensed the chemistry between them. The first time Maggie met Drew, they clashed. He was on the run from his wedding he had just walked out on. Being hounded by the paparazzi. She thought he was a spoiled little rich boy. He thought she was uptight. Drew came to town, to find his 4 brothers. They had been separated from each other as young children. Maggie, a widow of 3 years, is looking to move on from the sadness she still has, wanting a happier life for her & her son. Drew wants to decide for himself, what he wants to do with his life & not be pressured by his father. As they spent time together, their attraction for each other grows. Maggie agrees to be his date to his adopted brother's wedding. She wants to have a fling with Drew, but getting involved would complicate things. Can they finally be honest & stop fighting their feelings. Look forward to reading Book 3!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!
This is another tough book to rate. The dead spouse is always hard to get right. Our heroine needs to be separated by a crow bar to let go of the memories.
Corey her husband died of cancer and the amount of times she said he was perfect and they were the loves of each other’s lives leads me to doubt that at the end of the book she does a 180 and realizes that Drew really is the one for her. Drew deserves better. But her groveling at the end helped her for me to soften to her. Drew let her squirm unfortunately not long enough IMO.
I must give props to the author though the MC didn't particularly like one another at the beginning their character development is really good. They become friends and there is an underlying chemistry although both think they are wrong for one another but they are exactly what they need.
I enjoyed the pace of the book at times but was frustrated at the best of times with the pace as well.
I'm a sucker for single parent romance. Drew getting to know Griffin awkward yet adorable is the best.
Overall an enjoyable read. Sweet, sexy yet sad at times with a loss for both but also learning how to move on with life.
To be honest I don't know if I'd read more by this author.
Drew and Maggie My checklist for the perfect romance: a drop-dead gorgeous Greek who has vowed never to be hurt again - check; a drop-dead gorgeous widow who has vowed never to be hurt again - check; a rambunctious four-year-old boy - check; an adorable, but jealous, female Yorkie - check; an unfaithful ex-girlfriend who deservedly loses everything - check; dysfunctional family members - check; loving and supportive family members - check; steamy love scenes - check; an on-again, off-again romance that makes you want to scream - check; and a life-altering lovenote - check. This book has it all. It made me laugh, and it made me cry. You will not regret reading this book. This book was provided to me from the author for an honest review and I am pleased to give it.
Losing her husband to cancer was hard for Maggie McShae. She's grieved for three years, and still time hasn't helped her heal, but at least she's beginning to date again. When Drew Poulos asks her for a favor in accompanying him to a wedding where his entire dysfunctional family will be present, will she finally give in to the chemistry that sizzles between them, or will her love for her late husband hold her back from ever being happy again?
What a beautifully-written, spell-binding, fast-paced read Ms. Liasson has penned in this story, encompassing the second chance romance trope, a hero and heroine that face some difficult obstacles on their journey to happy ever after and a plot that made this story a complete page turner. The way this story started had me hooked and determined to know the outcome of the conversation Maggie was having. Would she be able to go through with what she suggests in the opening sentence? Would the man she's asking accept her offer? However, it was the moment that the hero entered this story that I loved. Maggie's sass, Drew's sarcasm and their banter on whether he can help her when it comes to dating creates some seriously strong sexual tension that keeps getting stronger until they finally explore their chemistry.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, because they both have plenty of baggage when it comes to relationships. Maggie lost the love of her life and struggles to give another man a chance, because she loved her husband so much and doesn't want to be with another man she can see herself loving that much again. And besides, she has her son to think about and doesn't want the young boy to get attached to any man that isn't going to stick around. While Drew, his ex cheated on him with someone he's very close with, which made me sympathize with him when it came to being around his family. Yet, despite the intense dialogue, there were some really fantastic light-hearted moments throughout this story, especially when Maggie is helping to ease the tense situation they end up in with his family. She was a real hoot in that moment, because of the way she goes overboard in implying that her and Drew's relationship is a whole lot more exciting than it is.
Both the main characters entertained me from start to finish with their back stories and their growing relationship. Losing her husband was too painful for Maggie and I could understand why being with another man feels like a betrayal to the love they had for each other. However, in saying that, I liked how Drew managed to wear the heroine down and show her that love can be a good thing. That it doesn't have to be scary, especially when the person you're falling for has felt lose -- even if it is of a different kind.
Overall, Ms. Liasson has penned an incredible read in this book, which made me smile at times and brought tears to my eyes at others. I really enjoyed how the secondary characters aren't afraid to offer their advice, even when it seems Maggie is resistant to listen. Furthermore, I liked how this story tied up all the loose ends such as how Maggie helps Drew bridge the gap with his family, the truth coming out about the heroine's late husband and Maggie having to deal with her mother-in-law's fears. How could the woman ever think so poorly of the heroine when she's never given her mother-in-law any reason to? How could the woman not want Maggie to be happy again?
The way this story ended had happy tears running down my face, because of the sign Maggie receives that it's finally time to move on. Certainly, she deserves to be happy again and Drew is the right man for her. Moreover, I liked the way she made things right with him, yet, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly. Drew is a hopeless romantic the way he gets the heroine's son to help him with the surprise he has for Maggie. I would highly recommend Can't Fight This Feeling by Miranda Liasson, especially if you love second chance romances.
Easy to read, very well written. This author writing skills are just terrific, her stories are sweet, uncomplicated and lovely. So far this is one of my favorites, I do not give away 5 at all, it must be Drew...LOL Nice book, totally worth the time invested in it.
I received an ARC copy for an honest review. Can't Fight This Feeling is #2 in the Spikonos brother's by Ms. Miranda Liasson. I LOVE the Spikonos brother's. I was intrigued with Andreas 'Drew' Poulos the minute he ran into Maggie's counseling, session, a runaway groom in book # Can't Stop Loving You. Looking all disheveled. I loved his and Maggie's story. So emotional. Both with so much baggage. Yet they still got through it, to find their HEA. Maggie would've driven me crazy more with her helicopter mothering with Griffin, more than her OCD. If I didn't sympathize with her why she was like that. After losing her husband so soon. Griffin was a doll. Probably one of my favorite scenes was when Drew, spending the night with Maggie, overslept, and little Griffin walks into his mom's room. Not giving one thought to Drew being there. It's just a sleep over. Not giving a thought to his mom and Drew being naked, and Maggie is freaking out inside. Beating herself up for being a 'bad mom.' Genieveve. I LOVED Drew's Yorkie, Genieveve and Maggie's big back mutt, Bear. But especially Genny. I loved that the alpha guy had the little dog and the woman had the big dog. And Genny's 'LOVE' of her 'Dad.' I was lol at her possessiveness with him and nipping at Maggie. I'm so glad he took her from his (adoptive) parents house and took her home to Mirror Lake with him. Maggie's so called friend Alyssa? Ugh! What a piece of work. I knew she was trouble right away. Glad we got to catch up with Roman and Bella. I really felt for Maggie. That scene when she finds her late husband's letter giving his blessing to move on. Had me teary. Crying right along with Maggie. I couldn't put this book down. I'm loving this series.
Can't Fight This Feeling is the second book of the Spikonos Brothers and can be read as a standalone.
Wow, a beautiful love story between two people who had a rough past in their lives.
Maggie had a wonderful marriage, until her husband (Corey) died of cancer, leaving her and her son alone. Now it's over 3 yrs since his passing and she decides she needs to move on, but can she. She is very protective of her son, Griffin and doesn't know how to take the first step to get back in the game.
Drew who left his fiancée at the altar and has come to Mirror Lake to hide for the public. He overhears Maggie on the phone trying to get laid and tries to give her advice. But he doesn't want her to date anyone, so he decides to take her to his brother's wedding, so maybe he can satisfy that itch he has for her.
What he doesn't tell Maggie is that his brother's fiancée, Sondra and him was in a long staying relationship until she betrayed him. Does Drew still want Sondra and how does that affect Maggie's growing feelings for him?
I was taken on a journey of self discovery and romance in a small town of Mirror Lake. Watching two people for different backgrounds fall in love and become one was beautiful.
Miranda writing style is full of love, humor and enjoyment and you won't want to put her books down. Miranda writes a sweet love story with a touch of spice.
I highly recommend this book and all of the Mirror Lake books she has written. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Novel: Can be read as a standalone within the Spikonos Brothers series. Characters: Well defined, easy to like and engaging. Writing: Smooth, developed, and even paced throughout the book. Storyline: Romantic love story with a HEA. Heat: Warm with a touch of spice.
Sweet, sad, laugh, cry, angry, that's call life, M n D r broken in their own way, but they finally move forward.
Foster kids of them, all have their adoptive family n they all became man, they did have the past, regrets but we gave them second chance, just like in the real world that we all deserve it too.
How about the another brother, will he back to the little town n reunion?
What starts out as a bad date with the wrong man turns into the right "job" with the right one. It's another Spikonos brother, reunited with his siblings after many, many years apart (as explained in book #1 of the series) paired up with best friend of one's wife. (It's all neat & cozy in this small town, so not too many names to remember from one book to another....thankfully!) Drew & Maggie, antagonistic from the start, and lugging baggage from their past spar without gloves, albeit merely verbally. He just left a mistake at the altar and she is still mourning the death of her husband 3 years prior. She has a young son & he has a dysfunctional, but extremely rich, adopted family. And even though it's a pretty good guess how this will end, it was a fun read getting there. A warm & fuzzy read for these cold winter days. Sure brought out the "feel good" for me.
Was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book by one of my favorite authors. It is based in her fictional Mirror Lake community which I have grown to love so much. This was kind of a slow burn romance for me initially as it took a while for me to warm to both Maggie and Drew's characters. I think this was because even though it was obvious to me right away the powerful chemistry they both had with each other it took much longer to see what made Maggie and Drew tick and why they would also be a good love match. However about 30% in, this book just really took off for me and I totally had my good book buzz going and I fell in love with both the storyline and Maggie and Drew. In fact this book just got better and better, it became compulsive reading. Miranda's stories really do highlight everything I love in a good book and I do recommend getting to know this author. I also suggest starting with her earlier books in this series for more context even though all her books are standalones.
You first read about Drew and Maggie and their love-hate relationship in the first book Can't Stop Loving You but now its their story.
So much tension, angst, tears, moving on with life and not wanting to fall in love again but.....Once you start this book you will not be able to put it down until the very last page...(sigh)
Received this ARC for honest review with no compensation, and what a book it is! ! Looking forward to more books in this series! Miranda Liasson has done it again....Thank you for another awesome book! !
Can't Fight This Feeling is a wonderful story full of emotion. Emotion that comes from letting go of the past and looking toward the future. Easier said than done at times but always needed to have a full life. Maggie McShae is a young, vibrant, beautiful woman who has built up emotional walls around herself and her young son after losing her husband. Certain she can never find another love worth risking that type of heartbreak again. Yet she's young and dating again seems inevitable so she'll stick with safe and easy. Drew Poulos is neither of those things but he makes her long for things she's been missing. He's suffered his own heartbreak and isn't looking for any relationship. Perhaps that would make him the perfect.....fling.
These characters are fantastic. Maggie is a bit quirky, a little OCD, and a lot of fun. Drew is sexy, fun, a just a little insecure when it comes to his family. Their story is one you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it.
I have been waiting for this book; I wanted this story ever since the moment the hero arrived on the scene in the last book. I immediately felt the sparks between the hero and heroine and knew their story would be a battle, but in the end it would be so worth it and I was not wrong. This couple was a bit messed up, they have baggage, hell their baggage has baggage, but together they manage to unpack it and find their way, and I LOVED every single minute of Can’t Fight This Feeling.
Three years after her husband’s death from cancer Maggie McShae is trying to move on or at least trying to get on with her life and be more than a psychologist and mother, so that includes dating and with that possibly more, but she is having trouble finding a guy, one that gives her sparks, although if she is entirely honest there is someone who gives her sparks but he is all wrong for her in so many ways.
After walking away from his high profile wedding, Andreas (Drew) Spikonos has been hiding out in Mirror Lake and helping his biological brothers with their fledgling business and while he doesn’t think he can ever trust another woman again, something in Maggie calls to him and even though he knows he is not the right kind of man for her, he can’t help but think about her.
There is so much about this couple that I adore including the witty banter, the crazy chemistry they want to deny, their past relationships that have scarred them in different ways, and the fact they both think they can never truly love someone else again. Over time they begin to see everything that makes the other special and grow to appreciate everything about one another. Their mutual admiration grows throughout this story and that grows to more despite the fact they both try to deny it time and time again.
This book had so much depth, quite a few twists and turns, but most of all it had a whole lot of love. Sweet, sassy, funny but also emotional, I loved Can’t Fight This Feeling.
Most feuds are caused by misunderstandings. Stopping an argument is like pulling a weed. You have to get in before it seeds and gets beyond the point of no return.
A man who came from a family like this was bound to be riddled with emotional troubles. There was enough drama here for a Netflix series.
He flashed her a grin that would make angels break into the Hallelujah Chorus.
Trust me, you’re the kind of woman where there are always strings. Plenty of them, hanging everywhere.
He held up a ring, something gorgeous and sparkly and just right.
My Review:
I loved this bright and shiny book so much I had marked reams of favorite quotes. I adored these endearing, quirky, and tenderhearted characters, although Maggie’s OCD often took her more than a bit beyond quirky and well into the neurotic. But I am a smitten kitten with the Spikonos brothers – they are divine. Ms. Liasson’s narrative is refreshingly crisp, lively, comical, heart-squeezing, insightful, and tons of fun. Her work sparkles with humor and sizzles with undercurrents of sensual attraction and steamy bits. I was rapturously engaged and delightfully entertained throughout.
In an Oyster Shell - A steamy heartwarming romance.
The Pearls - The characters were my favorite part of this story they were strong and distinguished. Maggie is a strong heroine almost to a fault. It's nice to see in the romance. She kind of is more of the dictator in what happens which is not always the case. The hero Drew had quite a bit of character growth.
The small town setting was nice. Mirror lake seems like a quaint town. The characters that come around in this little town make the book comical at times. They add a nice depth to the story.
I liked the romance from Drew's side of thing he is a playboy that wants to reform with Maggie. Maggie helps heal some hurts. Maggie is not as strong or fast in the healing department and it takes her longer to get on board. It was frustrating at times like she took Drew for granted. Drew hung in there and the ending is satisfying.
The Sand - Maggie was really stubborn at times and it became infuriating at times. She was unreasonable and irrational on occasion. I didn't like that.
This book is so worth your time. I smiled, laugh and she's a tear while reading it. As always can't get enough of the Mirror Lake, Spikonos brothers...hope to read about Jared too. Good job Me Miranda!
""I made a mean souflaka. That's it. The way it all began." Actually, it began that day he burst into the therapy group she was leading. Or maybe it really began a few weeks ago on the church steps, when he'd handed her his Diet Coke."
Maggie is a mom, a psychologist and a widow. She's also a worrier. Ever since she lost her husband three years ago, it's been tough for her to not wrap her son in a bubble and let him be a little boy like all the others and just as difficult for her to date. But she's trying. But lately, she started to think that a fling could help her move forward. When Drew Poulos, her best friend's brother-in-law, and son of billionaire who's curently hiding from the paparazzi in Mirror Lake, witness a peculiar in a funny way, phone conversation with her date and offer his advice in a church vestibule, Maggie suddenly realize that the sexy playboy who thinks love is an illusion would make the perfect candidate. They'll just have fun, without all the feelings and the heartbreak, but that was before they realized that he makes her laugh and she makes him forget about his problems. And no matter what were their intentions, they just can't fight this feeling.
I liked how Maggie take upon herself of helping Drew, and just naturally care for him. It would be easy to think that being a nurturer comes with the shrink's description, but I think that's just how she is. I know that some people could balk at the widow things, and it's true that Maggie have a hard time moving forward from the past and for most of the book, but personally, it's not what bothered me. And even though I could see that ultimately, it's not what helped Maggie make peace with her new life, I don't care for the way she learned about her husband's behavior.
