Whitley Cox

A Canadian West Coast baby born and raised, Whitley is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have two beautiful daughters and a fluffy dog. She spends her days making food that gets thrown on the floor, vacuuming Cheerios out from under the couch and making sure that the dog food doesn't end up in the air conditioner. But when the kids are at school and it's not quite wine o'clock, Whitley sits down, avoids the pile of laundry on the couch, and writes.

A lover of all things decadent; wine, cheese, chocolate and spicy erotic romance, Whitley brings the humorous side of sex, the ridiculous side of relationships and the suspense of everyday life into her stories. With single dads, firefighters, Navy SEALs, mommy wars, body issues, threesomes, bondage and role-playing, Whitley’s books have all the funny and fabulously filthy words you could hope for.

Justin Williams hires Kendra Black to be his personal trainer after suffering a heart attack due to his unhealthy workaholic lifestyle. When Justin walks in for his first appointment, Kendra tries her best to look nonchalant, because when she sees his flashy car, expensive clothes, perfect hair, and flirtatious smile, she immediately pegs him as a pompous ass. Her job is to whip him into shape not stroke his ego and that is what she intends to do. Despite her best efforts, Kendra can’t help appreciate how gorgeous Justin is, and it’s clear that he is attracted to her, too. As she gets to know him better, she realizes that she may have misjudged him.

One night, Kendra runs into Justin while out with friends. Her best friend and roomate, Lexi, knows Kendra wants Justin, so she decides to give her a little push by asking him to join the two of them for a threesome back at their apartment. Justin enthusiastically agrees to Lexi’s proposition. Now, this may seem a little unorthodox to you, but Lexi and Kendra share sexual partners all the time. A trauma from Kendra’s childhood has affected her ability to have sex with men alone. The vaginas have to outnumber the penises, or she doesn’t feel comfortable. Besides that, Kendra is bisexual and enjoys having sex with both men and women. She doesn’t ever plan on giving up this type of sexual activity even if she is in a committed relationship. The threesomes she partakes in are only ever flings, but by the time this one is over, she know her feelings for Justin are deeper than that.

Scared of her reaction, Kendra freaks out and pushes Justin away, but he is persistent. Is it even possible for her to have any type of real relationship with Justin if she can’t be intimate with him without someone else in the room? Will he even want her if he finds out the truth?

I'm going to be honest and tell you that I didn't think I was going to like this at first, because it is not the type of book I normally read. I love menage romance, but f/f/m is really not my thing. Additionally, I prefer the people participating in the menage to all be equally into one another or in a committed relationship. That was not the case here, but I decided to keep on reading anyway. My persistence paid off, because there was so much more to the story than just the sexual relationships. Kendra has not had the easiest life, and there is a whole subplot that revolves around her family. That was the part of the story that affected me the most. Get your tissues handy for this one, folks.

Before I conclude this review, I want to talk a little bit more about the characters. Kendra is a beautiful, athletic, open minded, strong female character. Though she has had to deal with a lot in her life, she never felt like a victim to me. Kendra tries her best to work through her issues, and Justin is so amazing when it comes to helping her with that. He is a sexy, sweet, patient, and career oriented man that tries to do anything he can to make her happy. His biggest flaw is the fact that he spends more time working than doing anything else which is what ultimately landed him in the hospital. On the other hand, his hard work has also allowed him to achieve and afford a very comfortable lifestyle, and he has no plans of changing that by the end of the book. I think their biggest problem going forward is going to be him finding a balance when it comes to his career and his personal life before Kendra leaves him, because she is tired of feeling like the second most important thing is his life. I am rooting for them, and if you decide to give this one a try, I think you will be, too.

Bottom line, I enjoyed this story, and I won’t hesitate to pick up another book by this author. Love, Passion, and Power, Part 1 by Whitley Cox is steamy, emotional, and well written. The author’s writing style made me want to keep reading despite the f/f/m situations. I was engaged the entire time, and the story flowed perfectly from one scene to the next.

If you like romance with f/f/m scenes, aren’t turned off by unconventional relationships, or are just an open minded individual, I recommend this one to you! If you are like me and this is a little out of your comfort zone, but none of the things I mentioned are total deal breakers, I still recommend giving this one a try. I am glad that I did, and I’m even continuing on with the next book. I’m hoping for an HEA for Justin and Kendra. Fingers crossed!!

Love, Passion and Power: Part 1 was just that! Justin's LOVE he has to give is abundant; the PASSION between Kendra & Justin is undeniably strong; and the POWER that Justin's job & Kendra's history hold over them is incredibly hard to overcome. I love Whitley Cox's writing and can't wait to read more!

Justin Williams and Kendra Black.......

The fist thing I want to say is that the first half of the book was a little slow while building the story. My rating was at 3 stars at at first. Truthfully, had a strong disconnect with both H/h. For Kendra, she was dealing with emotional issues. I completely understood why she was hesitant and skittish while learning to trust Justin. That wasn't my issue with her. What I could not connect with (and I tried) was her sexual proclivities. Kendra was bi-sexual, but that wasn't my issue with her character either. What bothered me was the fact she couldn't be with a man unless a woman was present. Not just a physical presence but Kendra needed to touch and be touched, please and be pleased, by both a man and a woman. And even after her relationship was established with Justin, Kendra stilled longed for the triad. That just made it very difficult for me to take her relationship with Justin seriously.

One of my issues with Justin was that he was happy to share her with a woman if that was what she wanted. (and of course be pleasured by another woman) For me, this was a total disconnect. Their relationship was too unconventional for me to enjoy. Don't misunderstand me, please. I enjoy menage romances. However I need for all three to be devoted to each other in a committed relationship. That is just my preference. I felt the future for Kendra and Justin was suspect. Especially given the fact that Justin constantly left town for work situations. He ALWAYS chose other priorities before Kendra. Justin claimed he was devoted to her; loved her more than anything but I didn't feel it. That said, this review is based on part one of their story. I haven't read part two so I can only hope his priorities change.

Something else that I missed was having Justin's POV. We received a tease of his thoughts from the prologue so I was very disappointed that I couldn't be inside his head, intimate with his thoughts. I honestly believe I would have enjoyed this book more with Justin's POV as well.

Ok...so you must be thinking by my ranting that I hated this book. I did not hate it. In fact, by the second half I was engaged in the added aspects to the story. The author gave us many different emotions to deal with. There was a moment or two in which I couldn't control my tears.

Whitley Cox is talented at putting words to paper. She is skillful and not afraid to cross boundaries. The pace of the second half was steady and further developed with characters and premise. There was more going on than you'd expect, and I found myself enjoying it. Hence, the reason I ended with a four star rating.

As the drama/secrets unravel, you will begin to see things a little differently. Situations happened that I honestly didn't see coming.

So if you are a fan of dark romance, books that can make you cry, and f/f/m sexual situations, you'll devour this book.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and am eagerly anticipating the release of part two. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Justin Williams is a CEO of an investment banking firm and owner of a variety of other businesses. However after he has a heart attack, he is forced to go to rehabilitation where he meets his new trainer, Kendra Black. Upon their first meeting the sparks are flying but because of a traumatic incident in Kendra's past, she holds herself back. Justin is used to getting what he wants and is willing to do whatever it takes to have Kendra. For him, that means going at a pace that is comfortable for her. As they begin to spend more time together, Kendra begins letting down her walls to let Justin in. Can Justin and Kendra make a relationship work or will she always feel second to his job? How will Kendra deal with her past coming back into her life and can she trust Justin to be there?
This book is so well written that the reader feels transported into the characters and storyline. The way that the author discusses some very challenging subjects is just a testament to her writing style and her understanding of others going through those situations. This is a definite must read romance novel!
I volunteered to read an arc from the author for a review.

yI was given this book for free for an honest review. This is the first book i´ve read by Whitley Cox and i loved this book can´t wait for part 2. Justin Williams is a work a holic spending all his time at the office of his investment firm, He´s rich and is used to getting his way even with women. When Justin has health problems he is referred to a rehabilitation center where he meets Kendra Black who helps him learn how to make healthy food for himself and learn yoga to relax himself. Kendra Black hasn´t had a great child hod so doesn´t trust men, she´s never had a relationship only having threesomes cause that´s the only way she is comfortable with men. When Justin and Kendra meet sparks fly between them and Justin wants to see where things between them go but Kendra is scared and tells him they can only be friends. when they finally decide to give a relationship a go will Kendra´s past and fears put and end to this all. A must read amazing romance novel. 10/10

This review is being completed as I'm reading this book. Whitley Cox is a new-to-me author and holy cow has she thrown me for a loop! There so many feels in this book. It's taking me time to read it (I typically speed read), but this book has captured my attention and has me hooked. For me, it's an intense read, and I'm loving it!

It's not very often that I take the time to really read a book and enjoy it. In the case of this story, I felt it a disservice and wanted to understand what was going on in the story. I laughed, cried, squee'd, and even yelled at the main character as she figured things out. I'm looking forward to continuing the journey. Please note that I did receive a free copy of this book.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for a fair and honest review via Booksprout. To say Justin needed adderall compares to the Titanic needing more life boats. He had the attention span of a gnat and the enthusiasm of a toddler. In all of the reading I have done, and it's a ton, Kendra is the biggest train wreck of a heroine I've come across. I did love how Justin just loved her. There are a lot of fully fleshed out characters in this book. Lex, Chad, Roy and James to name a few. I don't want to give any spoilers. This book wrings you like an emotional towel. Kendra still hasn't revealed all of her dark past to Justin. I did not get an arc of book 2 so I'm debating whether or not to purchase it. But this is a truly good book.

Title says it all - A story about Justin the billionaire and Kendra a personal trainer. They have lots of passion and chemistry between them. The story is well written and the main characters develop through it in a good way. Their past and problems keep coming and interfering with their present and they have to struggle. Their passion comes out in the steamy hot scenes. They have to learn to trust each other to get through their problems.
A great read with an amazing story line.

** I volunteered to read an advance reviewer copy of this book. **

What a tale! An unusual journey of self-acceptance through all the trials and tribulations that life has thrown at "Kendra". At times I envied her, respected her, even wanted to be her. Then there were the times I thought she was being stubborn, whiny, and ungrateful. Yet through it all she remained true to herself. I can't wait to see where the story goes!

What a wonderful first time story by Whitley Cox. Justin and Kendra start off with unhappy first impression, but the more they came together the more love shone through. Kendra's past kept her from truly giving herself to one man, but patience and compassion from Justin opened up her world. I loved the chemistry between the two lovers and look forward to reading more from this author.

Before this book, I hadn't read many erotic romance novels. This was the perfect introduction to a hot and steamy world. Justin and Kendra are my new favorite book couple. The intimate scenes were so full of heat and passion, and the conflict built perfectly. The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that it ended too abruptly. I wanted more from the story!

Love, Passion and Power is a sexy romance. Kendra is a personal trainer who's assigned a new client - Justin Williams. She dislikes him on sight. She can tell he's just another arrogant, rich playboy and she's having none of it. Justin soon proves though, that he's much more than a shallow rich guy. He's actually sweet, kind and incredibly compassionate. He has a tough job ahead, though, trying to convince Kendra to enter into a relationship with him. She's got all kinds of damage from her childhood and Justin will need to be not only incredibly persistent, but patient and compassionate if he wants to break through Kendra's incredibly thick walls.

As they finally start developing their once professional relationship into a personal romantic relationship, I was thoroughly engaged. For awhile at least. Around about the middle, though, the pace started lagging a lot and the whole thing was losing steam for me. I wanted things to wrap up a little quicker, without all the mundane details, and surprisingly, without all the sex. There was almost too much sex, which isn't something I normally would say in a review, but is very appropriate here. They did a lot of communicating with sex, and not enough with words. And then there's the fact that Justin is a serious workaholic. It's something I can tell is going to be a problem in their future, because it was already a problem here in the first part of their story.

Still, though, Justin and Kendra's story is so far interesting and sexy. I enjoyed this installment and am looking forward to the conclusion.

I can recommend this story if you like sexy, engaging romances. Be forewarned, that in the beginning there are f/f/m ménage scenes, so if that is not your thing, take heed. It's not something I normally enjoy, but it's done tastefully here, and it's a necessary part of Kendra's development so not just gratuitous sex, it's included for a necessary reason. There are also mentions of rape, so if you have triggers, be warned.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Justin and Kendra

I'm into the story, but it's long. I'm committed, so I need to read part 2, but it's long. She definitely has issues that need to be addressed. And he's a total workaholic. But it's been a fun story.

I received an arc of this book from Whitley. I voluntarily leave a review. This is my honest review.
Omg and wow! This book was brilliant on so many levels. Whitley is a new author to Amazon and I haven't read any other of her books I'm not sure if she has written any before this book either on her own or with any one else. She has such a refreshing and fantastic way of writing the book talks to you. She broaches subjects that are difficult to talk about as well as read about, but she does it in a way that is touching and with feeling. Some will still find it hard to read even though you can tell she has done it with empathy to other's in that situation.
Each chapter is started with which character is telling that part of the story from their point of view, this is a great way to write and I much prefer this way in certain books. Whitley describes everything in such detail you really get taken up into the book and you feel that you know the characters.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading the book with not having any reviews to lead me or any knowledge of what it was about. As soon as I was a few pages in it had grabbed my attention and I didn't put it down again until I'd finished it. I'm glad my kids are all grown up and both them and my husband can cook because I wasn't putting it down to make tea! I finished at 3.45 in the morning and I wished I could get my hands on the next in the series I needed more straight away!
The main characters Justin and Kendra have such different back stories, he works far too many hours in the day, this is how fate made their paths cross, he's the business man with health problems and she's a personal trainer. She also uses yoga and meditation to keep herself strong both mentally and physically and as stress free as possible to keep control of her life.
His life is his business he built it up from nothing, he has such a good heart which shows in everything he does, unlike most he doesn't want or like taking others praise for what he's doing to help people, but he is proud of what he's accomplished. He can be a tad cocky wanting everything his own way because it's what he's use to, girls throwing themself at him, he's a player with one night stands because he doesn't trust anyone or why they want him, most just want his money not him even though he is good looking he knows it too.
Kendra has such a heartbreaking story which may effect some people, in parts it is so real I felt myself connecting with her and crying along with her.
She keeps everything locked away deep inside and won't let anyone in except a couple of friends that know most of what happened, but she hasn't told them everything, she can't face all of it, she doesn't want or need sympathy. If too many knew they'd treat her differently, look at her differently, she isn't that person any more. This way she can't be hurt, it's as if it wasn't her in that life so long ago. Everything she does protects herself from her past.
I've never felt such a pull or had such a reaction from reading a fictional book. Whitley has such a talent that flows through every page and I can't wait to read more of her work.
I'd recommend it to anyone that likes a beautiful romance, because that's what it is, a perfect romance, as long as you're aware that some of the subject matter is upsetting. It doesn't take away how special and what a powerful and beautiful story it is. I loved it and will re read it as I'm sure I'll read things I missed before. I can't wait to read the next in the series although it can be read as a stand alone as well

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the story of Justin who is a wealthy, very hard-working billionaire who is handsome, can be sarcastic and impatient and is a womaniser and how he meets Kendra who is a strong willed young woman who has had a terrible childhood and past that has left major scars on her soul. She avoids men as much as possible and will only have sex in menages. Now that introduction makes this seem a rather strange book but I assure you that it isn't! In fact, it is a very moving story of trust, love, heartache, love and overcoming their pasts. Whitley Cox is a terrific author and gives detailed descriptions that may seem over the top when you first start the book, but keep reading on as those details are all necessary for understanding what is going on later in the book. Justin meets Kendra because his GP says he needs to look after his health better and he goes to Kendra who is a personal trainer and practices yoga and nutrition too. They are both attracted instantly but it takes some persuading on Justin's part before she will take a chance on him. Such a wonderful story that I am so pleased I read it and, I confess, that I had to read part 2 straight afterwards!. This book has it all.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!

I received this book for giving an honest review. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I can say that author knows how to give us complex and deep emotional relationships for the characters that are involved. It is like being a part of their world and hearing all that is going on in their lives. It will make you laugh, cry and get a little angry.
Justin is a millionaire who owns an investment banking firm. He is always at the office for that is all he cares about. When he discovers that he has some health issues he is told he has to become healthier. That is how he meets Kendra who is a personal trainer. When she sees Justin come there her door all she can see is some spoiled rich guy who is used to getting all that he wants. Will her opinion stay that way? Will she move pass what is in her past to move forward in life or will the fears she has holds so tight to hold her back? You will have to find out by getting a copy of you own.
